Mechanic : The last of the V8 Interceptors... a piece of history!

Mechanic : Would've been a shame to blow it up. 

The Pursuit Special, also referred to as the Last of the V8 Interceptors, is the iconic black GT Falcon muscle car featuring a distinctive supercharger driven by the title character Mad Max during much of the Mad Max franchise, where it appears in Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and in Mad Max: Fury Road, as well as both video games.

The first car shown in the film with the title of Pursuit Special is a 1972 HQ Holden Monaro[V8 coupe stolen by Nightrider (played by Vince Gil), an escaped cop killer, who dies in an accident that destroys the vehicle. The more famous Pursuit Special is a heavily modified Ford Falcon XB GT, built on a vehicle originally assembled stock at the Ford plant in November 1973. Maxwell "Mad Max" Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) is offered the black Pursuit Special, as an incentive to stay on the force as their top pursuit man after he reveals his desire to resign. Although Max turns the offer down, he later uses the black car to exact his revenge on an outlaw motorcycle gang who killed his wife and son.

The vehicle started out as a standard white 351 cu in (5.8 L) Australian built 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Hardtop when in 1976, filmmakers Byron Kennedy and George Miller began preproduction on Mad Max. The movie's art director Jon Dowding designed the Interceptor and commissioned Melbourne-based car customizers Graf-X International to modify the GT Falcon. Peter Arcadipane, Ray Beckerley, John Evans, and painter Rod Smythe transformed the car as specified for the film.

The main modifications are the black paint scheme, roof and boot spoilers, wheel arch flares, and front nose cone and air-dam designed by Arcadipane (marketed as the "Concorde" style). Also, eight individual exhaust side pipes were added (only two of them being functional, others appeared to be working because of the vibrations the first two created). The most famous feature of the car is a Weiand 6-71 supercharger[5] protruding through the bonnet. The impressive looking supercharger, in reality, was nonfunctional; functional superchargers are typically driven constantly by the engine and cannot be switched on and off, as portrayed in the first two Mad Max films.

“Reflections” (The Lives of Dax) L. A. Graf Jadzia returns to Trill to help her sister. “Julia [Ecklar, half of the duo writing under the name L. A. Two highly skilled pilots from the Dolna Mitropolia Air Base have tragically lost their lives in a crash involving an L-39ZA combat training aircraft. The aircraft is prepared for flight according to The regulation for technical maintenance of the L-39ZA aircraft and is allowed to perform the task in a fully operational condition.

An L-39ZA aircraft was repaired under a contract between the Ministry of Defense and AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE a.s. Czech Republic and received after refit in June 2024.

Pop Crave is reporting on Twitter: R/yan Mu/rphy reportedly threatens WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) East Coast strike captain with lawsuit. A possibly libelous and accusatory tweet that cannot be validated with hard evidence seems to be at the heart of the case. RM, a member of the West ther groupCoast WGA, currently has three shows actively shooting on the East Coast—American Horror Story, American Sports Story, and the anthology American Horror Stories. His team is officially saying he is not onsite, though all sites are being actively picketed by East Coast WGA members, who report RM is present on site and is actively crossing picket lines, according to PC and HR articles. Rules allow showrunners and producers and directors, through WGA agreements with their guilds and unions, to continue working from previous scripts, and RM is officially all of these; however, ANY changes in those scripts DONE BY WRITERS apparently would constitute a rewrite, and violate the rules of the strike. The strike captain apparently had reports of violations, from writers forced to be on set or face retribution, a clear violation of the agreements with other unions, and part of his job is to follow up with reports from WGA members and investigate. Or, it WAS his job. This strike captain has apparently voluntarily withdrawn (or been forced) from his position, due to RM’s threat to sue him AND the WGA, and is facing his legal battle alone, though the thread shows that others are rallying behind him and raising funds for his defense. The articles contain more details.

Past WGA strikes did result in cases made for violations, with expulsion from membership, and/or stiff fines, for those found guilty, while others, such as J/ay L/eno, were absolved through hearings.

A link from the Pop Crave story leads to a more complete story at Hollywood Reporter. RM currently has ended his massive contract with Netflix, according to word leaked on June 20, and he is actively courting Disney to get a new deal with The Mouse House. Glee is already on Dis/ney+, while AHS anthology is on Hulu, though some other possible deals in the making by I/ger and the board could leave Hulu’s future in doubt. Fx currently hosts his other shows, and falls under the Mouse House as well, and current Fx Chairman B/ob Land/graf still reigns supreme there. Lan/dgraf pal and RM’s self-professed “bestie” and godmother of his children, something RM himself has remarked on multiple times in interviews, D/ana W/alden, has risen up the ranks, and is Co-chair of Disney Entertainment, which covers almost everything else but Fx and maybe the theme parks, and only has current CEO B/ob Ig/er and the current Disney board to answer to in her present position. (She is also on the board of Live Nation, which I find very interesting in regards to her current job, but I digress.)
