Right-wing media repeatedly used disasters in 2024 to baselessly attack diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. After a series of equipment malfunctions with Boeing passenger jets, right-wing media rushed to blame the failures on DEI policies. Right-wing media figures are using the wildfires in the Los Angeles area to exploit anti-DEI and anti-LGBTQ+ hatred all because the LAFD chief Kristin Crowley is a lesbian woman who backs DEI programs.

The faux outrage over DEI is part of the right-wing war on non-cis white male [conservative] Americans in leadership roles.

Climate change is the reasonnnn that's why you bitches in red states get so many hurricanes!I've even seen people on fox news say that aid to California shouldn't be given bc they deserve it as they're a blue state like seriously? Since california has one of the strongest economies in the world and is responsible for sending plenty of aid to other states who have had natural disasters it's not smart to make an enemy of them. And I'm so sick of these lies and misinformation being spread by people like el*n musk and the lafd had to give him a briefing to tell him the facts. Like people genuinly believe it aswell. You'll probably see a lot of talk about the Mayor and the LA City Council cutting the fire department's budget for 2025 in order to move money into the LAPD budget. That's not accurate.

Note that I hate promoting anything that Politico might publish, but it's important not to let untruths get too much traction at times like this. Then again, the owner of the LA Times is amplifying and broadcasting the lies about the FD budget because he's a dumbbell who is determined to turn his newspaper into a sad parody of itself.
