Agnes just falling asleep on Ash’s lap, while Ash plays with her hair making little braids

Agnes wakes up with little braids all throughout her hair and a single daisy tucked behind her ear from one of the boys (it should be Billy, he's the softer one, but Ash kept Billy's violet for herself). She stirs just enough to notice that Ash dozed off, resting her head at an awkward angle against the arm of the couch.

It is utterly imperative that Agnes wakes Ash with the smallest of kisses, gives the softest of smiles, and suggests, brushing one finger along the thin white scar in the middle of Ash's forehead, that if they're going to stay on the couch, dear, they might want a warmer blanket? A better position so Ash won't get a crick in her neck?

(Ash already has a crick in her neck, but she won't say that.)

Tommy finds them both curled up on the couch later and starts to complain because he wants to sit there to play video games, but Billy nudges him and refuses to let him wake them.

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love
