It’s been years but I wanna say that Star vs the Forces of evil is a funny show.

It was like “Watch this magic princess fight the forces of evil! Watch her fight these evil monsters!”

Then later, in season 1 still, it planted seeds of “Wait why are monsters evil? Is it because they’re just monsters? Can there be a good Monster?”

And then eventually the show was like “I know you’ve all been enjoying Star fighting against the forces of evil, but you know what’s really evil? Racism. Let’s watch the princess become actively anti-racist”

Beautiful character arc, but a little funny to me all these years later

I may fully be a binary man but in the same way as gomez addams is fully a man (gender subclass: husband (my love of my not yet wife and my general devotion to the women I love is a part of my sense of gender))

I think that being Just A Man And Nothing Else At All is also something that comes with variation and unique relationships to gender and all the spicy stuff that the patriarchy hates.

I'm a man, and I'm also like, horse guy/nerd/academic/artsy/faggy subclass, or whatever. And every cis man at this horse show I'm at right now (most of the attendees) fucking hates me for my tboy swag, even though I am Also a horse guy (I didn't bring the cowboy hat or the big buckled belts bc I didn't wanna wear felt hat and fucking jeans in 100 degrees. I'm just a bad person I think)

anyway point being that "binary man" just means "not nonbinary", but nonbinary people aren't the only ones who get to be funky little freaks about gender.

Okay so the other day I was wondering if the Dec. 2022 Beastclan lore update meant that Beastclans no longer emerged prior to dragons during the Third Age (like, the reason why it isn't colonialism anymore is because the Beastclans and dragons now emerged simultaneously in the Fourth Age), but I just noticed that the description for Harpy Ancestor makes it pretty clear that harpies at least did emerge before dragons did. The text here has even had an errata since the lore update:

The implication of the previous description framing the Harpy Ancestor as not having experienced dragon hostility, and the new description stating more neutrally that she hasn't witnessed the existence of dragons period.

So if Beastclans did exist before dragons, and now dragons have claimed territory across Sornieth... what, they only settled on "unoccupied" land? Did the dragon gods make deals with the Beastclans for large swaths of their territories? These options are less loaded than the previous canon of violent conquest, but obviously still loaded. It feels like the obvious solution to making Beastclans non-problematic is just to canonize that Beastclans emerged simultaneously with all these Ancient dragon breeds (and maybe that the dragon flights consider themselves as sharing their borders with allied Beastclans, which is why when you look at the map of Sornieth every inch of land is claimed by dragons with no Beastclan territory left over).
