so sorry is this a dumb/offensive question but. how does being a bi lesbian/gay person work ..?the labels seem kinda contradictory to me but idk

Depends on the individual, but for me personally i consider myself a bi gay man because while i am theoretically attracted to all genders (bi), i have such a heavy preference towards men and nonbinary people (gay) that it's like living in both worlds. If i fell in love with a woman, id be attracted to her, but just casually being attracted to random people it's like a 99.9% men/masculine people, and .001% women, that I feel I'm also a gay man in practicality.

For me this is further complicated by the fact that I started dating my fiance when I was 14 and they were 15, and we've been together our entire adult lives. My sexuality is now basically single-target. Fictional men I will lust over all day, but in real life? Out of real people? I'm only attracted to my fiance. And because they're gender fluid, that also impacts my sexuality. I'm attracted to them when theyre a man, a woman, or anything else.

In general (and this is a broad generalization) being a bi lesbian or bi gay man refers to someone who might be:

bi with such a heavy preference for one gender or another that they feel both names are applicable

involved in the lesbian and gay communities who comes to realize theyre attracted to more than one gender but doesnt want to leave the community/their established relationships/support network

transitioning and this impacts how they label their sexuality.

Mostly, I'd ask a bunch of people who are bi-gay or bi-lesbian what it means to them if you want to learn more, or if you're satisfied with my answer just don't worry about people being contradictory. of course people are contradictory. we contain multitudes.

In light of recent events, this sideblog is ran by a trans man who is sometimes agender, who defines himself as a bi gay man.

The point of disclosing that (as I don't like to do so often) is to emphasise the point of transunity - that no trans person should be left behind, especially if they use labels which other people dislike (e.g. bi gay, bi lesbian or other mspec gays).

So, this blog (and movement) does not and will not tolerate transmeds, truscum, self-described baeddels, nonbinaryphobes, label policing (e.g. those who are anti bi gay or bi lesbian), and any other kind of stance which teaches you to reject your fellow trans people and fellow queers.

If you belong to any of the above groups but doubt aspects of those beliefs, you are welcome to stay and see more perspectives.

Transunity is about uniting the trans community against our oppressions. That includes helping people who used to be gatekeepers to not do that any more. It also includes celebrating people who use microlablels and obscure terms.
