Source: https://cro.media/insights/ux-ui/crafting-high-performing-landing-pages-cro-principles/
Passive income represents the epitome of working smarter, not harder, with its potential to supplement earnings and build long-term wealth. At cro.media, we believe that passive income ventures, much like Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), are about maximizing value from every effort. Here's how CRO principles can amplify passive income strategies.
Transforming Traffic Into Conversions
For many passive income ideas, from dropshipping to affiliate marketing, the key to success lies in effective CRO:
Optimized User Flows: Ensure a seamless journey from discovery to purchase with intuitive navigation and clear calls-to-action (CTAs).
A/B Testing: Experiment with landing pages, product descriptions, and CTAs to identify what drives the most conversions.
Data-Driven Insights: Leverage analytics to understand user behavior and refine strategies to align with audience preferences.
By fine-tuning the user experience, CRO transforms passive income ventures into scalable revenue streams.
Passive Income Meets Automation
Automation is central to both CRO and passive income:
Streamlining Workflows: Use tools to automate repetitive tasks, such as email marketing for digital product sales or ad retargeting for affiliate links. Learn more about Shopify app development.
Predictive Analytics: CRO tools can forecast which strategies will yield the best ROI, allowing you to focus on the most lucrative income streams.
Cross-Selling Opportunities: For dropshipping or print-on-demand stores, automated product recommendations can increase average order value.
Automation minimizes manual intervention, keeping passive income truly passive.
Enhancing Credibility and Trust
Trust is a critical CRO factor, especially for passive income models reliant on online sales or investments:
Social Proof: Showcase customer reviews or user-generated content to validate your offerings.
Secure Transactions: Highlight security features, such as encrypted payment systems, to reassure customers.
Professional Design: A visually appealing, functional website fosters credibility and encourages conversions.
"Strong CRO foundations ensure trust remains high, driving repeat engagement and income growth."

Diversification Through Strategic Insights
Just as CRO encourages testing and adaptation, passive income requires diversification:
Experimentation: Test multiple streams, such as affiliate marketing, digital product sales, or REIT investments, to identify the most profitable avenues.
Audience Segmentation: Use CRO principles to segment audiences and tailor offerings, ensuring relevance and resonance with target groups.
Sustainable Scaling: Focus on scalable models like print-on-demand or stock photography, which grow without proportional increases in effort.
Diversified strategies supported by CRO insights reduce risk and maximize passive income potential.
Maximizing Long-Term Gains
CRO's iterative nature aligns perfectly with building sustainable passive income:
Continuous Improvement: Regularly refine strategies based on performance data, from content adjustments to pricing experiments.
Retention Optimization: Implement loyalty programs or subscription models to maintain consistent revenue streams.
Scalability Focus: Invest in scalable tools and platforms that grow alongside your passive income ventures.

How to Structure Your Google Ads Campaign for Better ROI

If you’re looking to maximize the return on investment (ROI) from your Google Ads campaigns, structuring your campaigns effectively is crucial. A well-organized campaign ensures that your ads reach the right audience, minimize wasteful spending, and deliver measurable results. In this guide, we’ll outline the key steps to structure your Google Ads campaign for better ROI.
Also, for a deep understanding, consider reading the blog: The definitive guide on maximizing ROI with Google ads.
1. Define Clear Goals and Objectives
Before diving into campaign setup, establish clear goals for what you want to achieve. Are you focusing on brand awareness, lead generation, or eCommerce sales? Defining your objectives helps you:
Choose the right campaign type (e.g., Search, Display, Shopping, or Video).
Set measurable KPIs like cost-per-click (CPC), conversion rate, or return on ad spend (ROAS).
2. Conduct Comprehensive Keyword Research
Keywords form the foundation of any Google Ads campaign. Use tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or SEMrush to identify relevant keywords that align with your goals. Segment these keywords into:
High-intent keywords (e.g., “buy running shoes” for sales campaigns).
Informational keywords for awareness campaigns.
Group your keywords logically to make ad groups tightly focused, which improves your Quality Score and ad relevance.
3. Create Well-Structured Campaigns and Ad Groups
Organizing your campaigns and ad groups is critical for precise targeting and budget allocation. Follow these principles:
Campaign-Level Structure: Organize campaigns by objectives, product categories, or services.
Ad Group-Level Structure: Group related keywords and tailor your ads for each group.
For example, if you’re advertising running shoes, create separate ad groups for men’s, women’s, and kids’ running shoes.
4. Optimize Your Ad Copy and Assets
Your ads should be compelling, clear, and relevant to the audience’s intent. Incorporate the following best practices:
Use action-oriented language (e.g., “Shop Now,” “Get a Free Quote”).
Highlight your unique selling propositions (USPs).
Include keywords from your ad group in the ad copy.
Leverage ad extensions like sitelinks, callouts, and structured snippets to provide additional information and improve click-through rates (CTR).
5. Leverage Audience Targeting
Audience targeting refines your reach to users most likely to convert. Use Google’s audience options to target:
Affinity Audiences: Broader audiences based on interests and habits.
In-Market Audiences: Users actively searching for products or services.
Remarketing Lists: Re-engage past visitors who showed interest in your offerings.
6. Monitor and Optimize Bidding Strategies
Choosing the right bidding strategy significantly impacts ROI. Popular options include:
Manual CPC for precise control.
Target ROAS for automated ROI-focused bidding.
Maximize Conversions to drive volume while staying within your budget.
Continuously analyze performance and adjust bids based on data.
7. Refine Landing Pages
A high-quality landing page is essential for converting ad clicks into actions. Ensure that your landing pages:
Are highly relevant to the ad copy.
Load quickly and are mobile-friendly.
Feature clear calls-to-action (CTAs) and minimal distractions.
Pro Tip: Conduct A/B testing to find the most effective designs and CTAs.
8. Regularly Analyze and Optimize Campaign Performance
Ongoing optimization is the key to better ROI. Use Google Ads reports to:
Identify high-performing and underperforming keywords.
Adjust budget allocations to prioritize successful campaigns.
Experiment with new ad creatives and targeting options.
Conclusion
Effectively structuring your Google Ads campaign is the foundation for achieving better ROI. By defining clear goals, organizing campaigns logically, refining ad copy, and leveraging audience targeting, you can create campaigns that consistently perform. Don’t forget to regularly analyze and optimize your strategies to stay ahead of the competition.

How do Digital Marketing Skills Help Students Collaborate with Brands?
1. The Importance of Digital Marketing Skills for Students
These days, having digital marketing skills is really helpful for students. With brands going online, they’re interested in fresh ideas, especially from younger folks. Students who get the hang of digital marketing can create content, check how it’s doing, and run campaigns. So, how do these skills help students work with brands? They help students think strategically and be creative partners, not just interns. Learning from a digital marketing course in Coimbatore can give students the confidence to contribute to real success stories for brands.
2. Social Media and Brand Growth
Most students are already using social media, but knowing how to handle it like a pro can make them stand out. Companies want ambassadors who know the ropes—like how algorithms work, planning content, and connecting with audiences. With training in digital marketing from Coimbatore, students learn how to use social media tools and tactics. This makes them perfect fits for influencer programs and promotions. So, how do these skills come in handy? They turn casual scrolling into smart marketing.
3. SEO and Content Creation
Brands want content that not only looks good but also ranks well. Students who understand SEO can write better blogs, make engaging videos, or create catchy reels. In a digital marketing course in Coimbatore, they pick up how to use keywords and reach the right audience. When students get a handle on brand voice and messaging, their content fits right in with what brands need. So again, how do these skills help students work with brands? They turn creative writing into outcomes that matter.
4. Data Analytics for Better Campaigns
Digital marketing isn’t just about being creative—it’s about getting results too. Students who are trained in tools like Google Analytics and can track engagement and conversion rates help brands understand their audience better. A hands-on course in Coimbatore helps them spot trends and tweak campaigns. Brands appreciate working with students who can back their ideas with actual data, making those collaborations practical.
5. Real-World Learning Through Internships
Many digital marketing courses offer hands-on internships or projects. A course in Coimbatore gives students a chance to work with real brands. During these internships, they can pitch ideas and run online campaigns, which helps build their confidence for future projects. Getting a taste of real marketing prepares them for roles in established companies later on.
6. Email Marketing and CRM Know-How
Email campaigns are still a strong tool for engaging with brands. Students who learn about automation platforms like Mailchimp or HubSpot know how to create mailing lists and track open rates. A good digital marketing training in Coimbatore can help them design effective emails and handle CRM data. Brands value students who know how to keep and convert leads with personalized messaging.
7. Opportunities in Influencer and Affiliate Marketing
More brands are teaming up with micro-influencers, which is where students often fit in. With proper training from a digital marketing course in Coimbatore, students can start making money from their content or join affiliate programs. When they know how to market themselves and others, brands benefit from having dedicated supporters. This is another great example of how these skills help students and brands create successful campaigns together.
8. Building Personal Brands to Attract Collaborations
Students with good digital marketing skills learn how to shape their online presence. Whether it’s on LinkedIn or through their own blogs, having a strong brand helps them attract partnerships. A training program in Coimbatore teaches them how to present themselves professionally. Brands look for partners who share their values, and well-branded students are often top choices for collaboration.
9. Freelancing and Consulting from Day One
Students don’t have to wait until graduation to start working. Those skilled in digital marketing often take freelance gigs or consult for small businesses. A course in Coimbatore gives them the confidence to offer their services and tackle real business problems. Freelancing helps them build a portfolio while getting hands-on experience—another solid reason why these skills are useful for early career collaboration with brands.
10. Wrapping It Up: Learning to Succeed
So, how do digital marketing skills help students work with brands? They mix creativity with strategy and data—everything brands are looking for. With the right training, students become valuable partners instead of just learners. A structured digital marketing course in Coimbatore gives students the confidence to meet industry expectations. If you want to be the kind of student brands are looking for, Xplore IT Corp is a great place to start.
FAQs
1. Why should students learn digital marketing?

3. What’s the benefit of a digital marketing course in Coimbatore?

A/B Testing Your Landing Page: How to Improve Conversions
When it comes to running a successful online business or marketing campaign, one of the most critical elements is conversion rate optimization (CRO). Whether you're an eCommerce store, a SaaS company, or a content-driven business, improving your landing page's performance can have a significant impact on your bottom line. One of the most effective strategies to achieve this is A/B testing.

In this blog post, we’ll explore how A/B testing can help you optimize your landing page and improve conversions.
What is A/B Testing?
A/B testing, also known as split testing, involves comparing two or more versions of a web page (or other marketing assets) to see which one performs better. For landing pages, this typically means creating two variations—Version A (the control) and Version B (the variant)—and measuring their performance against each other based on key metrics like click-through rate (CTR), form submissions, or actual sales.
The goal of A/B testing is to make data-driven decisions that lead to a higher conversion rate. By testing elements of your landing page, you can pinpoint what works and what doesn’t, helping you refine your design and messaging to better meet the needs of your visitors.
Why A/B Testing is Crucial for Conversion Rate Optimization
When you’re looking to improve your conversions, A/B testing becomes an indispensable tool. Instead of guessing what your audience prefers, A/B testing allows you to test assumptions and make informed decisions.
Here’s why A/B testing plays such a vital role in conversion rate optimization:
Data-Driven Decisions: A/B testing helps you move away from intuition and guesswork. By analyzing real user behavior, you make decisions that are backed by data, resulting in more effective changes.
Identify Pain Points: A/B tests can help identify specific barriers that prevent users from converting. Whether it’s a confusing call-to-action (CTA) or an ineffective headline, A/B testing will highlight these issues.
Maximize ROI: By improving the conversion rate of your landing page, you're essentially increasing the efficiency of your marketing efforts. Even small improvements can lead to significant gains in revenue without needing additional traffic.
Enhance User Experience: Testing various elements of your landing page can help you create a seamless and intuitive user experience, which is critical for boosting conversions. A better user experience typically leads to higher satisfaction and, ultimately, higher conversion rates.
Key Elements to Test on Your Landing Page
Now that we understand the importance of A/B testing for conversion rate optimization, let’s dive into some of the most common elements to test on your landing page:
1. Headlines
The headline is the first thing visitors see when they land on your page. It needs to grab their attention and clearly communicate the value of your offer. A/B test different headlines to see which one resonates best with your audience. You could try variations in terms of wording, length, or tone (e.g., using urgency or offering a benefit).
2. Call-to-Action (CTA)
The CTA is arguably the most important element on your landing page. A small change in your CTA can make a big difference in your conversion rate. Test different CTA phrases, colors, placements, and button sizes. For example, try “Get Started Now” versus “Start Your Free Trial” to see which gets more clicks.
3. Images or Videos
Visual elements can greatly influence user behavior. A/B test different images, product photos, or explainer videos to see which type of media engages users more effectively. Sometimes, a small tweak—such as changing the position of an image or using a different background—can result in a higher conversion rate.
4. Forms

If your landing page includes a form for sign-ups or lead generation, A/B testing your form fields can improve conversions. Test the length of the form (e.g., short vs. long), the type of fields (e.g., using dropdown menus or radio buttons), and the layout. You might find that removing a few fields can increase submission rates significantly.
5. Social Proof
Including testimonials, reviews, or trust badges on your landing page can enhance its credibility and encourage visitors to convert. A/B test different placements of social proof, or experiment with adding or removing these elements to gauge their impact on conversions.
6. Colors and Design
The design of your landing page should align with your brand while also being visually appealing to your target audience. Color schemes, typography, and button designs can all impact user behavior. Try A/B testing different color palettes or layouts to see which ones lead to higher engagement and conversions.
7. Value Proposition
A strong value proposition clearly articulates the benefits of your offer and why it's worth the visitor's time. A/B test variations of your value proposition to see which one better communicates the key benefits and resonates with your audience.
How to Run a Successful A/B Test
Running a successful A/B test involves more than just creating two variations of a landing page. Here are some best practices to ensure your tests are effective:
1. Set Clear Objectives
Before you start testing, define what you want to achieve. Are you testing to increase form submissions, improve click-through rates, or boost sales? Having a clear goal ensures that you can measure the success of your test accurately.
2. Test One Element at a Time
To accurately measure the impact of changes, test one element at a time. If you test multiple elements in a single test (e.g., changing the headline and CTA simultaneously), it becomes difficult to determine which change drove the improvement in performance.
3. Ensure Sufficient Traffic
For A/B testing to be statistically significant, your landing page needs to receive a decent amount of traffic. If your page doesn’t have enough visitors, your results may not be reliable. Use a sample size calculator to ensure you have enough data before drawing conclusions.
4. Measure the Right Metrics
When analyzing the results, focus on the metrics that matter to your objectives. If you're aiming to increase form submissions, then track conversion rates. If you're testing for better engagement, look at bounce rates or time on page. Keep your primary goal in mind.
5. Iterate Based on Results
Once you've analyzed the results, implement the winning variation, and keep testing! A/B testing is an ongoing process. Every improvement leads to further optimization, so continue refining your landing page to maximize your conversion rate.
Conclusion
A/B testing is one of the most powerful tools you have for conversion rate optimization. By testing different elements of your landing page, you can make data-driven decisions that directly impact your conversion rates and ultimately improve the performance of your marketing efforts. Start small, test key elements like headlines and CTAs, and build on the results to keep optimizing. The more you test, the more you'll learn about your audience, and the better you'll be at meeting their needs, ultimately driving higher conversions.
Remember, conversion rate optimization is an ongoing journey. Through regular A/B testing, you can ensure that your landing page is always evolving to deliver the best possible experience to your visitors and customers.

Harnessing Passive Income with CRO Strategies: Insights by cro.media
Boost your landing page's effectiveness with CRO principles and maximize conversions.
Strong CRO foundations ensure trust remains high, driving repeat engagement and income growth. See our Shopify agency services.

How to Craft High-Converting Lead Generation Campaigns
In today’s competitive business landscape, creating high-converting lead generation campaigns is crucial for businesses aiming to drive growth, increase sales, and build lasting customer relationships. Whether you are a startup, a small business, or a large enterprise, the success of your lead generation efforts hinges on how effectively you design and execute your campaigns.
In this article, we will explore how to craft lead generation campaigns that not only attract high-quality leads but also convert them into loyal customers. From understanding your target audience to leveraging the right tools and strategies, this guide will equip you with the knowledge to boost your campaign success.
1. Define Clear Campaign Objectives
The first step in crafting a high-converting lead generation campaign is to define clear, measurable objectives. Your campaign goals will shape the strategy, messaging, and tactics you use to attract and nurture leads.
Ask yourself the following questions:
What is the primary goal of your lead generation campaign? (e.g., acquiring new customers, growing your email list, scheduling demos)
What is your target conversion rate?
What metrics will you use to measure success? (e.g., click-through rate, form submissions, demos scheduled)
By setting specific goals, you’ll be able to assess the effectiveness of your campaign and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
2. Identify and Understand Your Target Audience
The success of your lead generation campaign depends on how well you understand your target audience. A deep understanding of your ideal customer profile (ICP) helps tailor your messaging, offers, and outreach methods to ensure you’re reaching the right prospects.
Here are key factors to consider when defining your target audience:
Demographics: Age, gender, location, income level, etc.
Psychographics: Interests, values, pain points, buying behaviors, and challenges.
Firmographics: For B2B companies, understanding company size, industry, revenue, and the roles of decision-makers is crucial.
Once you have a solid understanding of your target audience, create buyer personas to visualize the types of leads you’re aiming to attract. This helps refine your messaging to speak directly to their needs and desires.
3. Create an Irresistible Lead Magnet
One of the best ways to attract and convert leads is by offering something of value. This can be in the form of a lead magnet—a free, high-value resource that provides solutions to the challenges your target audience faces. Some popular lead magnets include:
Ebooks or Whitepapers: In-depth, informative content that offers solutions to industry-specific challenges.
Webinars: Live or recorded sessions that provide valuable knowledge on a specific topic.
Free Trials or Demos: Let potential customers experience your product or service firsthand before committing.
Templates or Checklists: Ready-made resources that make their job easier.
The key to creating a successful lead magnet is ensuring that it provides genuine value. When your lead magnet resonates with your target audience, they’ll be more willing to provide their contact information in exchange for it.
4. Design Compelling Landing Pages
Your landing page is where the magic happens. It’s the place where your leads will be asked to take action, whether that’s submitting a form, downloading a resource, or scheduling a demo. To maximize conversions, your landing page should be:
Focused: Keep the page simple and distraction-free. Every element should support the goal of your campaign.
Clear and persuasive: Use clear and concise copy that highlights the value of your lead magnet. Address your audience’s pain points and explain how your offer solves their problems.
Strong Call-to-Action (CTA): Your CTA should stand out on the page and guide visitors toward the desired action. Use action-oriented language like “Get Your Free Guide Now” or “Schedule a Free Demo Today.”
Responsive and fast: Ensure that your landing page loads quickly and looks great on all devices, especially mobile.
A well-optimized landing page can significantly boost your conversion rate by providing an easy, seamless experience for your prospects.
5. Use Multiple Lead Generation Channels
A high-converting lead generation campaign doesn’t rely on just one channel. To increase your reach and connect with more potential customers, you should employ multiple channels to drive traffic to your landing page. Some effective channels include:
Email marketing: Use personalized email sequences to nurture leads and direct them to your landing page.
Social media: Share your lead magnet on platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to engage a broader audience.
Paid advertising: Use targeted ads (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads) to reach specific demographics and drive traffic to your landing page.
SEO: Optimize your website and content for search engines so organic traffic finds your lead magnet.
Referral programs: Encourage existing customers or partners to refer others in exchange for incentives.
By leveraging multiple channels, you increase the chances of reaching potential leads at various touchpoints, enhancing the overall effectiveness of your campaign.
6. Nurture Leads with Automated Follow-ups
Once a lead submits their information, your job is far from over. In fact, lead nurturing is a crucial part of the conversion process. Using automated email follow-ups is a great way to nurture leads and keep them engaged. The idea is to deliver targeted, relevant content to leads over time, guiding them through the buyer’s journey.
Here are some tips for successful lead nurturing:
Segment your leads: Not all leads are the same. Segment them based on their actions, demographics, or interests, and send personalized emails that resonate with each group.
Create a drip campaign: Set up an automated series of emails designed to educate and engage leads over time. Offer value in each email, such as tips, case studies, testimonials, or exclusive offers.
Maintain a conversational tone: Avoid sending overly sales-focused emails. Instead, build a relationship by offering valuable insights and solutions to your leads’ problems.
Lead nurturing can help keep your brand top-of-mind and increase the likelihood of conversion.
7. Analyze, Test, and Optimize
After launching your lead generation campaign, it’s crucial to track and measure its performance. Analyzing key metrics such as click-through rates (CTR), conversion rates, and cost-per-lead (CPL) will give you insight into what’s working and what needs improvement.
Consider the following optimization strategies:
A/B testing: Test different versions of your landing page, emails, and CTAs to see which elements resonate best with your audience.
Conversion rate optimization (CRO): Continuously tweak and optimize elements like form length, button placement, and copy to improve conversions.
Analyze user behavior: Tools like heatmaps and session recordings can help you understand how visitors interact with your landing page and identify areas for improvement.
Through continuous testing and optimization, you can maximize the effectiveness of your lead generation campaigns.
8. Leverage Social Proof and Testimonials
Social proof is a powerful psychological trigger that influences buying decisions. By showcasing testimonials, case studies, or user reviews, you can build trust and credibility with your leads.
Including customer success stories on your landing page or in your email campaigns can demonstrate the value of your offer and reassure leads that others have had positive experiences with your brand. Highlighting awards or media mentions can also serve as powerful social proof.
Conclusion
Crafting high-converting lead generation campaigns requires a strategic approach that combines well-defined goals, audience understanding, engaging offers, compelling landing pages, and effective follow-up strategies. By leveraging multiple channels, nurturing leads over time, and continuously optimizing your efforts, you can create a lead generation system that drives growth and converts prospects into loyal customers.

How to Effectively Merge PPC and SEO Without Overspending?

I never thought I'd crack the code of online marketing. My small business was struggling, lost in the vast digital landscape.
Then it hit me - why not combine PPC and SEO?
Day one, I started researching. Google Ads became my new best friend.
I crafted compelling ad copy, targeting keywords like "affordable local services" and "best [my industry] near me". Simultaneously, I optimized my website for these same phrases.
The results? Shocking. Within a week, my click-through rate jumped by 35%. But here's the kicker - my organic traffic also surged by 20%. The synergy was real.
I dug deeper. Analyzing my PPC data, I discovered long-tail keywords I'd never considered. "24/7 emergency [my service] in [my city]" became a goldmine. I incorporated these into my content strategy, creating blog posts and landing pages.
Suddenly, I was ranking for terms I'd never dreamed of.
My bounce rate plummeted from 65% to 40%. People were finding exactly what they needed.
But it wasn't all smooth sailing. My ad spend initially skyrocketed. Panic set in. Was I hemorrhaging money?
That's when I had my eureka moment.
I used my SEO insights to refine my PPC strategy.
By focusing on high-converting organic keywords, I slashed my cost-per-click by 25%.
Now, my website is a powerhouse. Organic traffic feeds my remarketing campaigns. PPC data informs my content creation. It's a beautiful, cost-effective cycle.
The result? My online visibility has doubled. Sales are up 50% year-over-year. And the best part? My marketing budget hasn't increased a dime.

Tumblr’s Core Product Strategy
Here at Tumblr, we’ve been working hard on reorganizing how we work in a bid to gain more users. A larger user base means a more sustainable company, and means we get to stick around and do this thing with you all a bit longer. What follows is the strategy we're using to accomplish the goal of user growth. The @labs group has published a bit already, but this is bigger. We’re publishing it publicly for the first time, in an effort to work more transparently with all of you in the Tumblr community. This strategy provides guidance amid limited resources, allowing our teams to focus on specific key areas to ensure Tumblr’s future.
The Diagnosis
In order for Tumblr to grow, we need to fix the core experience that makes Tumblr a useful place for users. The underlying problem is that Tumblr is not easy to use. Historically, we have expected users to curate their feeds and lean into curating their experience. But this expectation introduces friction to the user experience and only serves a small portion of our audience.
Tumblr’s competitive advantage lies in its unique content and vibrant communities. As the forerunner of internet culture, Tumblr encompasses a wide range of interests, such as entertainment, art, gaming, fandom, fashion, and music. People come to Tumblr to immerse themselves in this culture, making it essential for us to ensure a seamless connection between people and content.
To guarantee Tumblr’s continued success, we’ve got to prioritize fostering that seamless connection between people and content. This involves attracting and retaining new users and creators, nurturing their growth, and encouraging frequent engagement with the platform.
Our Guiding Principles
To enhance Tumblr’s usability, we must address these core guiding principles.
Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Retain and grow our creator base.
Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Improve the platform’s performance, stability, and quality.
Below is a deep dive into each of these principles.
Principle 1: Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Tumblr has a “top of the funnel” issue in converting non-users into engaged logged-in users. We also have not invested in industry standard SEO practices to ensure a robust top of the funnel. The referral traffic that we do get from external sources is dispersed across different pages with inconsistent user experiences, which results in a missed opportunity to convert these users into regular Tumblr users. For example, users from search engines often land on pages within the blog network and blog view—where there isn’t much of a reason to sign up.
We need to experiment with logged-out tumblr.com to ensure we are capturing the highest potential conversion rate for visitors into sign-ups and log-ins. We might want to explore showing the potential future user the full breadth of content that Tumblr has to offer on our logged-out pages. We want people to be able to easily understand the potential behind Tumblr without having to navigate multiple tabs and pages to figure it out. Our current logged-out explore page does very little to help users understand “what is Tumblr.” which is a missed opportunity to get people excited about joining the site.
Actions & Next Steps
Improving Tumblr’s search engine optimization (SEO) practices to be in line with industry standards.
Experiment with logged out tumblr.com to achieve the highest conversion rate for sign-ups and log-ins, explore ways for visitors to “get” Tumblr and entice them to sign up.
Principle 2: Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
We need to ensure the highest quality user experience by presenting fresh and relevant content tailored to the user’s diverse interests during each session. If the user has a bad content experience, the fault lies with the product.
The default position should always be that the user does not know how to navigate the application. Additionally, we need to ensure that when people search for content related to their interests, it is easily accessible without any confusing limitations or unexpected roadblocks in their journey.
Being a 15-year-old brand is tough because the brand carries the baggage of a person’s preconceived impressions of Tumblr. On average, a user only sees 25 posts per session, so the first 25 posts have to convey the value of Tumblr: it is a vibrant community with lots of untapped potential. We never want to leave the user believing that Tumblr is a place that is stale and not relevant.
Actions & Next Steps
Deliver great content each time the app is opened.
Make it easier for users to understand where the vibrant communities on Tumblr are.
Improve our algorithmic ranking capabilities across all feeds.
Principle 3: Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Part of Tumblr’s charm lies in its capacity to showcase the evolution of conversations and the clever remarks found within reblog chains and replies. Engaging in these discussions should be enjoyable and effortless.
Unfortunately, the current way that conversations work on Tumblr across replies and reblogs is confusing for new users. The limitations around engaging with individual reblogs, replies only applying to the original post, and the inability to easily follow threaded conversations make it difficult for users to join the conversation.
Actions & Next Steps
Address the confusion within replies and reblogs.
Improve the conversational posting features around replies and reblogs.
Allow engagements on individual replies and reblogs.
Make it easier for users to follow the various conversation paths within a reblog thread.
Remove clutter in the conversation by collapsing reblog threads.
Explore the feasibility of removing duplicate reblogs within a user’s Following feed.
Principle 4: Retain and grow our creator base.
Creators are essential to the Tumblr community. However, we haven’t always had a consistent and coordinated effort around retaining, nurturing, and growing our creator base.
Being a new creator on Tumblr can be intimidating, with a high likelihood of leaving or disappointment upon sharing creations without receiving engagement or feedback. We need to ensure that we have the expected creator tools and foster the rewarding feedback loops that keep creators around and enable them to thrive.
The lack of feedback stems from the outdated decision to only show content from followed blogs on the main dashboard feed (“Following”), perpetuating a cycle where popular blogs continue to gain more visibility at the expense of helping new creators. To address this, we need to prioritize supporting and nurturing the growth of new creators on the platform.
It is also imperative that creators, like everyone on Tumblr, feel safe and in control of their experience. Whether it be an ask from the community or engagement on a post, being successful on Tumblr should never feel like a punishing experience.
Actions & Next Steps
Get creators’ new content in front of people who are interested in it.
Improve the feedback loop for creators, incentivizing them to continue posting.
Build mechanisms to protect creators from being spammed by notifications when they go viral.
Expand ways to co-create content, such as by adding the capability to embed Tumblr links in posts.
Principle 5: Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Push notifications and emails are essential tools to increase user engagement, improve user retention, and facilitate content discovery. Our strategy of reaching out to you, the user, should be well-coordinated across product, commercial, and marketing teams.
Our messaging strategy needs to be personalized and adapt to a user’s shifting interests. Our messages should keep users in the know on the latest activity in their community, as well as keeping Tumblr top of mind as the place to go for witty takes and remixes of the latest shows and real-life events.
Most importantly, our messages should be thoughtful and should never come across as spammy.
Actions & Next Steps
Conduct an audit of our messaging strategy.
Address the issue of notifications getting too noisy; throttle, collapse or mute notifications where necessary.
Identify opportunities for personalization within our email messages.
Test what the right daily push notification limit is.
Send emails when a user has push notifications switched off.
Principle 6: Performance, stability and quality.
The stability and performance of our mobile apps have declined. There is a large backlog of production issues, with more bugs created than resolved over the last 300 days. If this continues, roughly one new unresolved production issue will be created every two days. Apps and backend systems that work well and don't crash are the foundation of a great Tumblr experience. Improving performance, stability, and quality will help us achieve sustainable operations for Tumblr.
Improve performance and stability: deliver crash-free, responsive, and fast-loading apps on Android, iOS, and web.
Improve quality: deliver the highest quality Tumblr experience to our users.
Move faster: provide APIs and services to unblock core product initiatives and launch new features coming out of Labs.
Conclusion
Our mission has always been to empower the world’s creators. We are wholly committed to ensuring Tumblr evolves in a way that supports our current users while improving areas that attract new creators, artists, and users. You deserve a digital home that works for you. You deserve the best tools and features to connect with your communities on a platform that prioritizes the easy discoverability of high-quality content. This is an invigorating time for Tumblr, and we couldn’t be more excited about our current strategy.

How to lower the cpc of a high-volume keyword? 🤔 In the competitive world of online advertising, securing a top spot for high-volume keywords can be a challenging and expensive endeavor. The cost per click (CPC) associated with these keywords can quickly drain your advertising budget. According to a study by WordStream, the average CPC for Google Ads across all industries is $2.69 💰. However, this varies significantly by industry, with some industries experiencing even higher CPC rates.
For example, the legal industry has an average CPC of $6.75 💸, while the finance and insurance industry has an average CPC of $3.77. These high CPC rates make it even more critical for advertisers in these industries to develop effective strategies to lower their CPC rates and optimize their ad spend.
However, there are strategies you can employ to lower the CPC while still reaching your target audience effectively.🚀
Keyword Research and Selection:
Effective keyword research forms the foundation of any successful advertising campaign. Focus on long-tail keywords that are highly relevant to your target audience. These keywords generally have lower competition and cost less per click. Utilize keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, or Moz to identify such keywords.
Ad Optimization:
Craft compelling ad copy that aligns with your chosen keywords. Ensure your ads are relevant, engaging, and stand out from the competition. By improving your ad's quality score, you can achieve higher ad positions at lower CPCs. Incorporate relevant emojis 🎉 to attract attention and enhance ad performance.
Negative Keywords:
Negative keywords play a vital role in filtering out irrelevant searches. Regularly review your campaign's search terms report to identify any unwanted or irrelevant clicks. By adding negative keywords, you can prevent your ads from displaying in unrelated searches, ultimately reducing your CPC and improving campaign efficiency.
Bidding strategy
Bidding strategy involves optimizing your bids based on factors like ad relevance, quality score, and budget allocation to lower the CPC of a high volume keyword while maximizing return on investment (ROI).
Landing Page Optimization:
Your landing page is crucial in converting clicks into valuable actions. Optimize your landing page to align with your keywords and ads. Make it user-friendly, visually appealing, and provide clear CTA. A seamless and optimized user experience will lead to higher conversion rates and a better quality score, resulting in lower CPCs.
In conclusion, lowering CPC rates for high volume keywords requires a combination of targeting, ad relevance, landing page optimization, negative keywords, and ad format experimentation. By implementing these strategies and continuously testing and refining your ad campaigns, you can achieve better results and drive more revenue from your advertising efforts. 💼
