"You're Pretty Cool" â Short BKDK Oneshot
Izuku and Katsuki respond to a villain report, and they put his iron suit (and all it's awesome features) to good use.
It's a typical day at the agency when they get the callâa small scale villain attack at a local mall. Izuku had only just started his afternoon shift, but he's suited up and ready to go in under a minute.
Katsuki grins wickedly following right behind him as he tugs on his mask.
The engines in Izuku's legs whir to life, the vibration almost makes the suit feel like it's breathing. He only has to bend his legs a little to get the mechanisms in his knees to click into place. The calm voice at the back of his neck comes through the speaker:
[Float mechanisms engaged. OFA engines running. Current capacity- 25%]
Katsuki catches up beside him, but Izuku's already kicking off the ground. With a click and puff of air, he's vaulting into the sky with ease. The wind blows through the spaces in his armor, whirring along with the engines until he pushes with his legs again. Another click and puff, and air blows from his joints to keep him in the sky.
Katsuki's flashy as ever, small explosions propelling him right beside Izuku.
Izuku touches the telecom device in his ear to make sure it's on but turns his attention to the hero beside him instead. "How many villains?"
"Only two right now." Izuku makes a face he doesn't mean to, but the smirk he gets in return makes him regret it a little less.
They don't say anything, but they turn their attention from each other with simultaneous amusement. Each knows exactly what the other is thinking.
"We're gonna roll them."
The destruction already caused when they arrive at the scene is more than he expected.
"This is small scale?" He looks to Katsuki with raised brows, but he only shrugs.
"They said only half the mall was destroyed."
Aside from Katsuki's poor judgment on the meaning of small, he feels a little concerned that it looks more like 75% now. They arrived in less than 3 minutes and already the villains caused half the amount of destruction that occurred in the time for the distress call to go out. Exactly how long had it taken for the distress call to get sent out? The villain was capable of massive destruction in secondsâ
"Oi, quit rambling. It's go time." Katsuki nailed an elbow into his side that probably hurt him more than Izuku since it only clanked off the metal armor. He bends his legs again until he hears another click when Katsuki dives right into the middle of the danger.
[OFA engines running. Current capacity- 50%]
He kicks off the ground with more strength than before, air from the various pieces of his leg armor pushing out to propel him forward at higher speeds. "Kacchan, stick together!"
Puff. Puff. Puff. The air releases from his suit to soften his landing as he skids to a stop on concrete rubble in the middle of towering wreckage. Katsuki gives him a cocky smile, "Quit whining and just keepâ"
[Danger Sense defense mechanism activated.]
Izuku shoves Katsuki to the ground at same time the metal at his back pushes him away from the detected impact. The explosion comes from behind them, crumbling more of the surrounding walls. There's man with dark eyes and messy hair, palms splayed towards the two of them.
He gives Katsuki a once overâthere's not even a scratch on himâbefore he's getting back on his feet and launching towards the villain.
[Offense mode activated. Arm thrusters engaged.]
"Kacchan, cover me!"
"I already know!" He hops back to his feet, scanning for the second villain.
Izuku draws his arm back. Click. It's incredible how similar punching with suit feels like using a smash with OFA. The whir of engines and mechanisms feels almost like the crackle of energy he once felt under his skin. The air ripples around his fist but he collides with the ground instead of the villain. His head snaps to the side to find the man. He created another blast to dodge.
"An explosion quirk?"
"Not quite, Hero Deku." The man reaches for him with a certain confidence that makes Izuku jump back to put some distance between them.
The telecom in his ear clicks as Katsuki's voice comes through. "Izuku, I'm engaged with the second villain. They have a defense quirk. Got some type of exoskeleton. Stay on your toes."
Izuku huffs. He sort of hates not fighting side by side, he'll wrap this up quickly. "Got it. You be careful too."
"Don't ignore me, Deku." The villain launches at him, but this time his hands hit the ground.
The concrete begins to crumble apart, walls and foundation creaking with the effort of staying upright. It makes Izuku do a double take. A quirk he recognizes too well.
No.
He shakes the thought away and focuses, all his senses tuned into the way the world moves around him.
Nearby there are flashes of light, pops and booms, and the smell of smoke wafts through the air. All signs that his friend is still fighting. The ground beneath the villains hands swirls in a strange way, like it's condensing in on itself.
He remembers the explosions.
A quirk that shrinks space between molecules, he guesses. His hand claps to the telecom device in his ear to relay that exact message while jumping to a higher platform in the messy wreckage of the multi-story building.
"You're as clever as they say, Hero"
Izuku frowns. "You can stop now. We won't have to fight, and I can help you." He throws his arms in front of his face to defend against the next blast thrown his way. They're not hot and smoky like Katsuki's explosions but more like sharp pushes shattering through the air.
Easier to deal with, he thinks amusedly.
"Something funny?" The villain spits from where he's knelt on the ground.
Izuku shakes his head and splays his palm when the villain takes the chance to launch at him again. His knuckles buzz.
[Blackwhip engaged.]
With a twist of his hand, the tape from his hands turns and slings around the villain. At the same time, the world around him begins to spin with a loud creak.
Shit.
The foundation of the building crumbles, a metal pipe narrowly misses his head as it falls past him. Izuku scans the area, but there's nowhere to jump to like before without further disrupting the building. He slides his foot against the ground, scraping metal.
[Magnets enabled.]
He jumps, heaving the weight of the villain struggling in his constraints. His feet find the exposed metal framework of the ruined wall, boots clicking against it with enough strength to support him standing on it horizontally.
He jumps, heaving the weight of the villain struggling in his constraints. His feet find the exposed metal framework of the ruined wall, boots clicking against it with enough strength to support him standing on it horizontally.
But he moves quickly, tossing the villain with a purposeful strength over his shoulders onto a ledge a couple stories above him. He dodges as debris falls and shifts, scaling all the way up the side of the wall.
Izuku gets there fast enough to pounce the villain before he can get away from where he'd been thrown. The building is settled for now, the creaking lulls to quiet as concrete and metal stop moving. It's silent. No eerie noises of the mall collapsing.
No explosions. No smoke.
[Elevated heart rate detected. Assessing vitals.]
The villain kicks him off with a foot to his chest. The force knocks the wind out of him a little, but he grits his teeth, torn between the urge to restrain the villain again and to reach for his earpiece.
Both. He can do both.
He brings one leg back, and the compartment at his thigh pops open, revealing several knives. With a trained flick of his wrist, one zips through the air and pierces the villain's shirt, pinning him to the ground. His other hand flies to his ear. "Kacchan? Are you okay?"
No answer.
[Elevated heart rate sustained. Vitals detected normal.]
Shit.
He jumps on top of the villain, foot to his chest while he properly restrains him this time. The surrounding rubble is a mess of concrete and pipes. He's already planning where to start tearing apart the building brick by brick. He clicks his arm once the villain is definitely not going anywhere.
[Engines engaged. Warm-up process completed. Capacity- 100%]
The gears whir in his arms in preparation but a familiar voice makes him pause.
"Incoming!"
Katsuki collides with him chest to back, they roll across the ground from the force.
"Kacchan!" Izuku gasps and swallows the panic that was rising in his chest seconds ago. He only gets a light fist to chest.
"I'm here." He pulls Izuku back to his feet. "Stay sharp, Nerd."
Izuku nods and gets ready to fight again, scanning the direction Katsuki came from for the second villain.
[Heart rate stabilized. Vital assessment disabled.]
"Why didn't you answer?" The missing villain reappears, covered in an exoskeleton just like Katsuki said. He swipes with bone claws at Izuku's face.
"I was a little busyâcouldn't blast through this guy's bones without bringing the rest of the building down on ya."
He dodges backwards, air puffing from his joints. "And our backup?"
"You've only got our channel on the telecom?"
Izuku shrugs, jumping onto a ledge above them. It kinda distracts him when everyone talks in his ear the whole time.
"I told 'em not to come, building is too unstable as it is. We got it covered, don't we?"
Izuku leans over the ledge to look at him with a pout, tilting away from a sharp bone whizzing past his head. "Get that other guy out of here."
"Asshole, don't get bossy with me." But at the same time, Katsuki throws the restrained guy over his shoulder and heads for an opening in the wall.
Izuku turns his attention back to the bone guy, it looks like he can grow and change them at will. He's more of a hand-to-hand fighter than the other villain. So Izuku lets him get close.
It's a whir of fists, kicks, and dodges. Each time Izuku lands a hit, the bones shatter beneath his strength but grow back just as quickly. The other guy is defensive but utilizes the sharp endings of bones to stab and slash at Izuku. They scratch uselessly against metal.
Izuku bides time, tries to use his tape and ropes to restrain the villain, but it's too easy for him use his bones to weasel out of them. He expects it though. He knocks his fists together after kicking the guy back a few feet.
[Smokescreen activated.]
Clouds billow from his knuckles. It fills the space quickly, impairing any visibility.
There's a hand at his back, but he doesn't flinch away from it. He anticipates it when he turns his head and finds Katsuki amidst the smoke. They don't speak, but he pulls Izuku's hood up over his head and stays close.
[Cover mode activated.]
The metal at the collar of his suit extends over his neck and jaw. A soft whir sounds from within.
[Person detected 20 feet ahead.]
There's a lot of really cool features in his suit. This one is one of his favorite tweaks to the original quirks he once owned.
Katsuki pushes Izukuâs head down as little before throwing up his palms with a crackle.
[Blast protection enabled.]
The metal shifts, presses closer into his skin. One moment he's standing close to Katsuki amidst the fog, the next there's a pop and a flash.
The flammable smoke ignites with a boom.
It's hot. Like sweat beading down his neck hot when the explosion engulfs them both, but there's no pain. He forces his eyes open and let's Katsuki push him forward by the back so that they stay together.
As the blast begins to settle, he can see the silhouette of the villain. He twists his hands and metal ropes sling out, wrapping around him where bones no long cover his body. Katsuki's got a tight grip on his back, propelling them away from the crumbling building, as Izuku pulls the villain towards them.
Katsuki only lets go when Izuku gets the guy on the ground outside of the wreckage, placing a threatening hand to back of his neck while Izuku gets a better handle on him.
He reaches with his free hand to push the hood off Izuku's face.
[Cover mode deactivated. Elevated body temperature detected. Cooling systems engaged.]
The metal loosens and goes back to normal. He gasps softly in the cool air and wipes the sweat dripping from his brow. Katsuki looks away, but Izuku doesn't miss the way he bites his lips to hide a smile.
They both watch as the apprehended villains are taken away.
"You're crazy," Katsuki says.
"You're one to talk." But Izuku smiles as he turns to face him. "The suit's amazing, you know."
He rolls his eyes, but there's no bite to his words. "Ya told me enough times already. BesidesâŚ" He trails off quietly.
"Okay, you're amazing."
Katsuki blinks. "Hah?"
Izuku continues with a smile, words falling easily from his lips. "We work perfectly together. You're the best hero partner. I love doing this with you. You're so cool and amazing, Kacchan. I loveâ"
He claps a hand over Izuku's mouth. "Oh my god, Izuku. Okay, enough."
A silent moment passes of Izuku keeping his eyes on Katsuki, mouth covered but smile showing in the way his eyes crease. Eventually he lets his hand fall away.
"I likeâlove doing this with you too."
Izuku grins wider, warmth spreading over his cheeks.
"And you're pretty cool too, Nerd." Katsuki places an impossibly gentle hand on his chest.
His heart beats a little faster and the cool metal of his suit isn't cold enough to fend off the heat spreading through his whole body.
Izuku knows with certainty that there's nowhere else he'd rather be.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) -Sweden is asking a Chinese vessel to return to Swedish waters to help facilitate an investigation into recent breaches of undersea fibre-optic cables in the Baltic Sea, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on Tuesday, but stressed he was not making any accusations.
Two subsea cables, one linking Finland and Germany and the other connecting Sweden to Lithuania, were damaged in less than 24 hours on Nov. 17-18, prompting German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to say he assumed it was sabotage.
Sweden, Germany and Lithuania all launched criminal investigations last week, zeroing in on Chinese bulk carrier Yi Peng 3, which left the Russian port of Ust-Luga on Nov. 15. A Reuters analysis of MarineTraffic data showed that the ship's coordinates corresponded to the time and place of the breaches.
The ship now sits idle in international waters but inside Denmark's exclusive economic zone, closely watched by Danish military vessels.
"From the Swedish side we have had contact with the ship and contact with China and said that we want the ship to move towards Swedish waters," Kristersson told a press conference, adding it would help facilitate the investigation.
"We're not making any accusations but we seek clarity on what has happened," Kristersson said.
Western intelligence officials from multiple countries have said they are confident the Chinese ship caused the cuts to both cables. But they have expressed different views on whether these were accidents or could have been deliberate.
U.S. Naval Intelligence assesses that both incidents were an accident, according to a U.S. official, but officials from other countries have said sabotage cannot be ruled out.
Katja Bego, Senior Research Fellow at Chatham House, told Reuters that, while between 150-200 such breaches occur every year and the overwhelming majority are accidents, geopolitical tensions in the region meant an investigation was probably warranted.
"Investigating incidents like this can take a long time, and even if the culprit is found, as appears to be the case here, proving intent is incredibly difficult," she said. "Neither sabotage nor an accident can be ruled out at this point."
Russia last week said suggestions it had anything to do with the breaches were "absurd".
Kristersson said he was hopeful that China would respond positively to the request to move the ship to Swedish waters. China's foreign ministry said on Monday that Beijing has maintained "smooth communication" with all parties involved.
Last year a subsea gas pipeline and several telecoms cables running along the bottom of the Baltic Sea were severely damaged, and Finnish police have said they believe the incident was caused by a Chinese ship dragging its anchor.
But the investigators have not said whether they believe the damage in 2023 was accidental or intentional.

just gonna lock that shit up behind glass on a jumbo jet, huh. tee zay tee zie kie. bitch.
but yeah, looking like a lot of those horizontally densely-packed lights might be SFF drives. noticing a lot of 4 U faces in here too. let's take a look!
The Fate of the Furious came out in 2017, same year Dell launched their 14th generation, so these are probably from the 13th gen (Rx3y). There's only one 4 U machine in that lineup, the R930, with 4 sockets of Xeon E7-4800 v4. Looks like these chips run a TDP of about 115 W, so with a little napkin math, 4 racks of 42 U, we're looking at about 20 kW. That's a $1.6M monthly power bill around here (did I do that right?? 11¢/kWh?). **Edit:** I did that wrong, it's more like $1600 than $1600000.

This jet was totally fake as far as I can tell (I do data centers, not planes), had two AEW dishes. But I'm curious now, how much auxiliary electricity can planes supply if they need to? Is 20 kW just for some servers outlandish on e.g. an E-3 or C-17 or something, or just a drop in the bucket? For that matter, what do we know about these kinds of heavy telecom deployments in planes? Do they exist? Are vibrations a reason to avoid spinning drives in the air?
Come to think of it, I would guess it's pretty feasible, you've got a shitton of fuel right there and no reason not to fit it out with a dedicated generator or two if you wanted to. I'm sure there's plenty of electronics deployments in air, but i figured they would all be pretty custom, and rated for aviation applications. Would love to learn more about this aspect of tech in planes!
cc maybe +@localairport since i don't remember who else on here is plane nerds, hi :3

A suspected new undersea cable break has occurred in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Swedenâs Gotland Island, Yle News reported on Friday, citing the Swedish Coast Guard.
According to the Swedish broadcaster SVT, the damaged line is C-Lion 1, a telecommunications cable operated by the Finnish state-owned company Cinia, which connects Finland and Germany. The incident occurred within Swedenâs exclusive economic zone.
Yle News noted that this isnât the first time this cable has been damaged. A similar incident was reported in November 2024, and the cable was repaired within days. The Chinese cargo ship Yi Peng 3 was suspected of causing the damage.
When exactly the latest damage occurred is unclear. The Swedish Coast Guard said it has been aware of the incident since February 20, while Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson reported that he had been informed about it âfor some time.â
âWe take all reports of possible infrastructure damage in the Baltic Sea very seriously. As I have said before, such incidents must be viewed in the context of the serious security situation,â Kristersson added.
Swedish authorities have launched a preliminary investigation.

Make in India & the Rise of Local Electronics Manufacturing Companies
India is undergoing a major transformation in the field of electronics manufacturing. With the government's Make in India initiative driving change, local companies are stepping up to meet global standards, expand production capacity, and reduce the countryâs dependence on imports.
In this article, we explore the impact of Make in India on the electronics sector, the advantages of working with an electronics manufacturing company in India, and the top 10 electronics manufacturing companies in India that are shaping the future of the industry.
How Make in India Changed the Electronics Landscape
Launched in 2014, Make in India was designed to turn the country into a global manufacturing hub. The electronics sector was one of the key focus areas from the beginning. The goal? To reduce imports and boost local production by offering incentives, building infrastructure, and attracting foreign direct investment.
The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have played a major role in accelerating domestic electronics production. As a result, Indiaâs electronics manufacturing market is projected to reach $300 billion by 2026, according to MeitY.
This shift has created enormous opportunities for every electronics manufacturing company in Indiaâfrom established EMS providers to niche component manufacturers.
Why Global Companies Are Choosing India for Electronics Manufacturing
India has become a strategic destination for electronics manufacturing. Hereâs why:
Cost efficiency: Competitive labor and production costs

AI and Machine Learning in Telecom Data Analytics
Letâs face it â the telecom world is evolving faster than ever. With millions of users, billions of devices, and endless streams of data being generated every second, telecom operators are under constant pressure to deliver faster, smarter, and more reliable services.
So, how are they keeping up?
The answer lies in the powerful combination of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning â two technologies transforming the way telecom companies work behind the scenes. From predicting network issues to personalizing customer experiences, these tools are taking telecom data analytics to a new level.
Letâs break it down.
đĄ What Is Telecom Data Analytics?
Before we dive into AI and machine learning, letâs quickly revisit the basics. Telecom data analytics is all about collecting, analyzing, and using data from various telecom operations â think network usage, call records, customer behavior, billing patterns, service issues, and more.
By turning this raw data into actionable insights, telecom companies can:
Improve network performance.
Reduce customer churn.
Detect fraud.
Launch better marketing campaigns.
And optimize overall operations.
But hereâs the thing: the volume of data in telecom is massive, and thatâs where AI and machine learning step in to make sense of it all.
đ§ How AI and Machine Learning Work in Telecom
Letâs imagine AI and machine learning as super-smart assistants that never sleep. Theyâre trained to sift through oceans of data, spot patterns, and make predictions â often in real-time.
Hereâs how telecom companies are putting them to work:
1. Predicting Network Failures Before They Happen
No one likes dropped calls or buffering during a video. Telecom companies use machine learning models to monitor network performance 24/7 and predict potential outages before they affect customers.
How? By analyzing data like:
Signal strength trends
Traffic spikes
Hardware logs
Environmental conditions
These models flag unusual behavior and help teams take preventive action, like replacing failing equipment or rerouting traffic, before customers even notice a problem.
2. Boosting Customer Experience
Letâs say a user suddenly starts getting slower speeds or poor call quality. Instead of waiting for a complaint, AI can detect the change in usage patterns and proactively suggest a solution, like switching plans or boosting signal strength.
This is where data analytics in telecom shines. AI helps personalize experiences by learning customer preferences, usage habits, and even the likelihood of churn, then automates responses accordingly. Think of it as customer care on autopilot, but smarter.
3. Smart Fraud Detection
Fraud is a big problem in telecom, from SIM cloning to fake IDs to international call scams. With AI and machine learning, telecoms can now detect suspicious activity in real-time.
For example:
A customer suddenly makes 100 international calls in an hour.
A SIM card is used in multiple devices rapidly.
An account triggers unusual top-ups or charges.
These patterns raise red flags, and the system can either alert the team or block activity instantly, saving both revenue and reputation.
4. Dynamic Pricing and Offers
Gone are the days of âone-size-fits-allâ telecom plans. With AI, companies can create personalized offers based on each userâs behavior.
So, if someone uses a lot of data but rarely makes calls, the system might recommend a data-heavy plan with fewer talk-time benefits. Or, if a user regularly runs out of data before the month ends, AI can suggest a suitable upgrade â all in real-time.
This kind of targeting is only possible with strong telecom data analytics powered by machine learning.
5. Network Optimization and Traffic Management
Think of the telecom network like a highway. Some routes get jammed during rush hour, while others are clear. AI can analyze real-time traffic patterns and re-route data flow accordingly to reduce congestion and improve speed.
This is especially important as 5G networks roll out and more devices â from phones to smart cars â connect to the grid. AI ensures everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
đ AI in Action: A Day in the Life
Letâs say you wake up and your phone automatically connects to a nearby tower with the best signal. Your telecom providerâs AI already knows you work from home and stream a lot, so it prioritizes your bandwidth.
You receive a message offering a weekend data pack just when you need it.
In the background, AI is checking your connection quality, scanning for unusual billing behavior, and updating your profile â all without you lifting a finger.
Thatâs the power of data analytics in telecom, supercharged by AI.
đ The Future of AI in Telecom
Weâre just getting started. As AI models become more advanced and real-time analytics more accessible, weâll see even more use cases in telecom, like:
Automated customer support with chatbots.
Voice recognition for account verification.
AI-driven 5G rollout planning.
Network slicing for industry-specific services.
And with machine learning constantly improving, these systems get smarter over time, learning from every interaction and improving their predictions.
đŻ Wrapping It Up
AI and machine learning are not just buzzwords â theyâre essential tools driving innovation in telecom data analytics. From smarter customer service to more efficient networks, theyâre helping telecom companies unlock the full potential of their data.
As the demand for faster, more personalized services grows, the role of data analytics in telecom will only become more critical â and AI will be leading the charge.
So, the next time your video streams without buffering or you get a perfectly timed data pack offer, just know â AI probably had something to do with it.

Indoor vs. Outdoor: Segmenting the Small Cell 5G Network Market
Small Cell 5G Network Industry Overview
The global Small Cell 5G Network Market, estimated at USD 2.76 billion in 2023 with a hardware volume of 2,170 thousand units, is projected to experience remarkable growth at a CAGR of 70.7% from 2024 to 2030. This surge is primarily driven by the rapidly increasing consumer demand for high-speed mobile data connectivity, leading to greater deployment of the next-generation 5G Radio Access Network (RAN). The expanding installation of small cell 5G networks across industrial, enterprise, and residential sectors aims to deliver enhanced coverage and capacity cost-effectively. Furthermore, the swift development of smart cities in nations like the U.S., Canada, Singapore, UK, Germany, Italy, and France has significantly boosted the deployment of small cell 5G networks for diverse applications spanning residential, industrial, commercial, and governmental uses.
The rapid global increase in mobile data traffic and 5G adoption is a key market driver. As demand for 5G services rises, telecom service providers are making substantial investments in developing and enhancing 5G infrastructure. While 5G services were initially launched utilizing existing (non-standalone) network infrastructure in several countries by 2022, the anticipated rapid growth in 5G users is expected to strain this infrastructure, necessitating a shift towards standalone 5G infrastructure deployment by telecom operators. Given that small cell 5G networks are a vital element of both standalone and non-standalone 5G ecosystems, the increasing demand for 5G and the growing deployment of standalone 5G network infrastructure are expected to generate significant market growth opportunities.
Detailed Segmentation:
Component Insights
The Picocell segment is expected to register at a significant CAGR over the forecast period. Picocells play a vital role in covering a large portion of the population, delivering high-speed internet capacity in places like stadiums, concerts, festivals, and others, which is increasing its demand in the market. Moreover, telecom service providers still face uninterrupted data services across rural areas due to line-of-sight problems. Microcells provide seamless connectivity to consumers, especially in remote or rural areas up to 3 km of distance, which is anticipated to drive the demand for microcells in the market. The aforementioned factors it is expected to stimulate the implementation of picocells and microcells over the forecast period.
Network Model Insights
Based on network model, the non-standalone (NSA) segment led the market with the largest revenue share of 82.0% in 2023. This is attributed to the early rollouts of the non-standalone network across the globe. The non-standalone network is commonly deployed in integration with the existing legacy network infrastructure, because of which it has been a time and cost-efficient option. Besides, several key service providers, such as AT&T, Inc. and Verizon Communications, have first deployed a 5G non-standalone (NSA) network model that caters to the primary use cases, including cloud-based AR/VR gaming, mobile streaming, and UHD videos.
Network Architecture Insights
Based on network architecture, the virtualized segment led the market with the largest revenue share of 61.56% in 2023. The dominating share of the segment can be attributed to a robust deployment of a small cell 5G network with a centralized baseband unit controllable architecture. This helps service providers to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and increase the overall flexibility of the network by managing virtually all the small cell base stations. Besides, the introduction of Software-defined Networking (SDN) technology and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) to improve the operational efficiency of the RAN network is further expected to augment the segment growth over the forecast period.
Deployment Mode Insights
Based on deployment mode, the indoor segment led the market with the largest revenue share of 76.0% in 2023. This is attributed to the growing demand for 5G indoor coverage. Small cells provide reliable 5G data connectivity across residential and non-residential applications. The non-residential uses mainly involve enterprises, retail malls, airports, and hospitals, among others. Moreover, the data published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) states that high-value customers are devoting over 80% of their working hours to indoor premises. As a result, it is estimated to elevate the adoption of small cells for indoor applications over the forecast period.
Frequency Type Insights
Based on frequency type, the sub-6 GHz led the market with the largest revenue share of 54.0% in 2023. This is attributed to the enormous investments by key communication service providers in acquiring low and mid-band frequencies to provide customers with high-bandwidth services for businesses and industrial applications. Recently, governments across major countries such as the U.S., China, South Korea, Japan, and many other countries unveiled sub-6 GHz frequencies to provide high-speed internet services in their countries. Furthermore, a few key small cell 5G component providers, such as Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., unveiled a new chipset for 5G small cells, which supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave frequency bands. Owing to the advantages of supporting multi-band frequencies, the sub-6GHz and mmWave segment is anticipated to gain considerable market growth in the forecast period.
End-use Insights
Based on end-use, the commercial segment held the market with the largest revenue share of 42.2% in 2023. This is attributed to the growing deployment of small cell 5G networks across large as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the globe. This 5G RAN network helps enterprises cater to the demand for massive data capacity and coverage needs at a very affordable cost. Moreover, small cell 5G networks also help organizations utilize the existing broadband infrastructure to deploy these next-generation networks. Besides, the small cell 5G networks have seen a colossal adoption across residential applications such as smart homes, cloud gaming, and home broadband.
