“I don’t want you to go,” Katsuki mumbles.

A little bit of the tension floods from Izuku’s shoulders. He can breathe a little better.

“Okay, good. Look, I don’t know how you’re feeling. Can we talk about it?”

Katsuki balls his hands into fists, and his answer is practically a growl, “I Don’t Kno-“

“-Annd that’s a no. Got it,” Izuku says brushing past Katsuki in the doorway to pass into the living room. “Or at least a not yet. Ignore each other on opposite sides of the couch for a while and see how it goes?”

Katsuki’s answer is an undecided grumble, but Izuku can hear him shuffling along to follow behind him.

They settle into the couch. Sitting on very opposite ends. Izuku can feel every inch of space between them. He tucks his knees to his chest and turns his back into the corner of the couch, so he is facing Katsuki, trails his eyes down to his phone and keeps them there so Katsuki doesn’t feel pressured.

After a few minutes Katsuki lets out an irritated rumble. Throws himself off the couch to head for the kitchen. He returns with his own phone in hand.

The silence feels like it goes on forever. It’s hard for Izuku. He wants to talk and touch and plan and fix. He wants to throw himself headlong at the problem and offer out his hand to help Katsuki up from where he’s fallen.

Sometimes that isn’t what Katsuki needs.

Izuku hates the way it feels stagnant between them. He hates not knowing what is going to happen. Hates letting it sit.

Sometimes Katsuki needs the space.

Ten minutes pass.

Thirty.

Nearly an hour later Katsuki speaks up again.

“I’m sorry.”

“Two in one day, huh? You’re really going for broke.”

It’s been a while, but I’m doing a fic rec! I just read this amazing fic by brainrotprofessional called possessive poison.

If you don’t know, I ADORE super possessive and jealous Izuku, and this fic is just that. It’s a cute quirk shenanigans fic where Izuku is hit with a quirk that draws out his possessive tendencies. Remember during training camp arc? Izuku yelling “Give him back?” Yeah he’s like that all the time. And he and Katsuki aren’t even together yet.

There’s all the funny moments where Izuku goes murder-eyes on his classmates for literally being near his Kacchan, a cute getting together scene, and it also goes into their relationship reveal to 1-A. Overall a super cute, fantastic fic if you love tall, possessive Deku.

Kacchan went silent, not like the expected outburst at the confirmation someone was better. Everyone at the table stared at him.

“What? It’s Auntie Inko,” Kacchan elaborated (barely) like that would clear up the situation. He started to get more irritated. “Is it a surprise that I like his mom more than him? I’ve known her my whole life!”

Izuku looked up in shock, staring at Kacchan. He had said exactly what Izuku said before.

“I mean—no. Well. It’s complicated.”

There’s something riveting about two fictional characters kissing/being intimate when they don’t know where they stand with each other emotionally. We, the readers, know they’re both in love, but they don’t know that (yet). It’s romantic/sexy AND suspenseful. It’s why I love fluffy “practice kissing” fics and angsty “friends with benefits” fics.

It’s also why I wrote this very silly fic premise where in order to give back One For All, Katsuki has to “administer doses” of his DNA (um.. spit 😅) to Izuku several times a day for months. It doesn’t count as kissing if it’s just to return One For All!! Wait, but… Do they wish it was kissing? Heh 😏

Izuku can feel someone prowling in his wake as he moves through the city. He’s been doing this for weeks. Hunting him down and joining in on Izuku’s patrol. It’s still strange, to have Kacchan trailing behind him.

It was always the other way around.

He tips backwards off a roof and waits for him to catch up. Might as well.

When he comes into view, the telescopic sight is no longer lined up for a shot, the massive gun strapped across his back. Small knives litter the orange X of his vest where it secures across his chest. The dark ensemble comes with a mask, but Kacchan only wears it half the time. He seems to have ditched it now, and his red eyes gleam against a wild shock of white blonde hair. Izuku knows he keeps explosives in the belt on his waist.

Katsuki’s costume is made up of the flash-bang orange of someone else's war, and Izuku’s is a quiet black with radioactive viridian sheen. Both a product of their origin stories. Izuku swallows down a seething sick that they no longer have the same one.

It isn’t quite Kacchan anymore. At least, not the version he knew. This is Zero. He seems sharp, deadly. He is deadly.

If it weren’t for the profile of the targets Zero accepts, or the fact that Izuku was still pathetically, dangerously half in love with him: Izuku would have taken him off the streets already.
