Why the hell is that when a shark is a vegetarian in a DreamWorks movie, it's okay, but people hate the idea of a Chelsea Peretti-voiced Saluki in glasses being in love with a shorter male animal like a cat?

Ive watched Shark Tale a bizzare number of times, both as a kid and also as an adult for some reason, it seems ever other year i rewatch Shark Tale.

I have too much misplaced nostalgia for this movie to be physically capable of hating it. It is ugly and bad and clearly trying to capitalize on Fiding Nemo, but unfortunately I was obsessed with fish as a kid (even before Nemo) and was happy simply to have another movie about fish to watch over and over and over again.

I remember revisiting it for the first time since childhood when i was 18-ish and being embarassed how I never realized that Lenny the shark is clearly suppose to read as gay. Even more embarrassing is it took me years later to realize Oscar is clearly suppose to be a cleaner wrasse.

For some reason the scene where the shrimp talks about his limbless nephew was a point of obsession amoungst my family and family friends. We use to have the whole thing memorised, and for like a decade after that movie came out I'd still hear my dad say "true story!" in the voice.
