Knuckles “the last of his kind on a noble quest to protect a gem with trust issues, badass fighting skills, and a water-based spirit most of his lost culture was based around who wants to live out his fantasy of his people coming back and enemies turning into friends via continued applied trust” the Echidna who wants to watch Raya and the Last Dragon
Tikal “the curious and empathetic chief’s daughter who was really close with her now-dead grandma who yearns to return to a culture her people once had but have now abandoned and works to make peace with the dieties of her culture while being best friends with sentient water who wants to live out her fantasy of resolving her daddy issues and bringing her people and gods to peace” the Echidna who wants to watch Moana
Blaze “the heir to an entire kingdom with a lot of huge expectations placed on her by her deceased parents desperately trying to keep her deadly and dangerous powers under control which is an issue because they burst out when she’s emotional and she’s been repressing quite a bit of emotions only for an energetic, bubbly person to bring her out of her shell and prove that she can be herself without hurting anyone else” the Cat who wants to watch Frozen

Big who wants to watch Fantasia because it calms him down. Omega does a quick ecosia search of Night on Bald Mountain and immediately likes this plan
Belle who wants to watch Pinocchio for obvious reasons
Charmy who wants to watch Peter Pan just to point at the tv when Tink is onscreen and look Belle dead in the eye and say “that’s you”
Espio who wants to die
Miles “Tails” Prower who can’t decide if he wants to watch Dumbo or Meet the Robinsons or if both will just bring up a lot of traumatic memories
and finally, Sticks the Badger, who wants to beat the TV to death with a wooden club and then burn Disney HQ to the ground
who will win!! vote now on your phones

Hi Coco 💐
I need an advice/new perspective on this situation I’m in. I have a friend group of 7 people since high school and we stayed in touch throughout university. But we kinda strayed away because of work and some of us moved abroad. And we rarely talk anymore. That’s fine by me because that is life.
A month ago, I found out that one of girls in the group is going to marry in October. However I soon discovered that I wasn’t invited because she reposted all the bridesmaids invite. All the girls in our group are the bridesmaids. I’m the only one who is not invited.
I’m not mad that I’m not going to be a bridesmaid but I’m a bit sad because I’m not invited (she also has sent out all the invitation for guests. Even our teachers got an invite). She even invited our friend who lives in Australia. My friend got worried about me and she asked the bride to confirm about my invite. Turns out I really am, not invited. When asked why, Lisa (the bride), said that there isn’t enough quota for me. I’m not gonna lie, I feel hurt but I understand.
However some friends heard that I’m not invited and decided to confront me about it. When I gave them the screenshots, they felt it was odd because she also invited plus one. My friends who were the bridesmaids asked to switch her plus one to me, but Lisa outright refused and got superrr mad when our friends asked why. Everyone was confused because I have never had any drama with anyone ever. I’m very non confrontational and I tend to let people walk over me.
Our friends who were the bridesmaids threatened to leave the wedding if she doesn’t tell the real reason. Turns out, the fiancé have a folder of my photos in his laptop. Some of these photos are stalker-ish and recently taken (probably 3 months ago) according to my friend. My friends got mad at Lisa because what he did is wrong and doesn’t understand why I’m being punished for it. Our friends backed out of the wedding and already requested a refund for the bridesmaids dress.
Now this is all happening without me knowing.
I have never met her fiancé alone. We’ve met at a party because he was a mutual friend of my ex. But other than that, it’s zero interaction. Like ZERO. Now I’m a bit paranoid about someone taking pictures of me secretly. I asked my friends to not back out and stay with Lisa because I think she’s just being a bridezilla. However they’re pretty adamant about not going to the wedding.
Lisa has made several instagrams post throwing shade at me. Even though she doesn’t say my name, but everyone knows it was me. Another friend who is very much confrontational commented on her post saying that it was never my fault and that Lisa is being super dramatic right now. News broke out about my pictures on his laptop because apparently he made a facebook post saying he had deleted the photos and that the photos are not pornographics.
Some of my friends got mad at me because while all of this happened, I never said anything. I don’t want to press charges against him too. I never asked anyone to talk to Lisa about me. Lisa has been calling me and accusing me of ruining her wedding and saying that I’m jealous of her. I apologize for what’s happening and told her that I’m not interested in her man and never interacted with him. Then I blocked her because I am just so exhausted.
Sorry this is too long. I think I’ve done the right thing by not responding. If you think I’m wrong, please let me know.
Thank you so much Coco 💐
Oh my GOD. She sounds like the fucking worst and you’re never going to win whatever that battle she’s invented is so you’ve absolutely done the right thing. What the fuck?? Why would you marry someone who is a literal actual stalker 😭
You must be terrified that’s a really traumatic thing to happen tbh I’m so sorry. Not only has this woman tried to blame you and try to make you a pariah but you might have been in danger and didn’t know. And to top that all off this woman then blamed you AGAIN. I’ve written that out even though it might be a bit confronting because I think it’s really important to acknowledge that what has happened to you is really fucking shit.
What I would say is that I’m glad these other friends were good about it, they seem like good people. I hope you can talk to someone about it as in friends and family. Professionally, I think you should maybe tell a lawyer sorry to be dramatic but I get why you don’t want to press charges etc over this but you don’t know this guy and she sounds quite mad too and I do think having some record of all of this and any evidence would be a good idea just in case. It might also give you some peace of mind. Obviously if you’re feeling unsettled and observed you should also hit up a therapist for a couple of sessions but that’s more a personal thing so I won’t advise there. The lawyer is a practical solution, and means you don’t have to press charges but you do have a legal record in case something happens down the line - which it almost certainly won’t. I just really cannot fathom the pictures thing though. And then to marry him?
I think she’s probably angry with you because she doesn’t want to admit the truth to herself, which is that she is making a gigantic mistake and should have walked away the moment she found that folder (and like what else did she find you know??)
Also god if I stayed with a guy like that wild horses couldn’t drag that information out of me who did she tell and why?
Anyway I hope you’re okay. It sounds like you’ve done everything you can to be the biggest person in this so be proud of that. I really hope you get excluded from their narrative now, and thank god you’re shot of such weird and shitty people. And thank GOD you didn’t have to go to their wedding.

What were you doing 45 minutes ago? Making the bed and airing out the bedroom lol. Not very exciting I know but it’s stuff that needs doing.
What was the last thing you said aloud? Right cats, dinner time!
Have you bought anything new this week? Yeah, a new vacuum cleaner and a new waterproof jacket. Riveting stuff, I know lol.
Name one person who made you smile today. Susie.
What’s the last thing you had to drink? Coffee.
Ever go camping? Nah, it’s never been something that appeals to me. Maybe if we lived somewhere with guaranteed decent weather I would give it a go, but around here it just rains all the time haha.
What’s your favorite candy? Depends on my mood really.
Do you send messages on Facebook a lot? Yeah, most days but they’re not very interesting, it’s just often the easiest way to communicate as mobile signal can be really patchy around here.
Have you ever gone to a strip club? No.
Last sporting event you watched? Uhh, I have no idea - maybe tennis? I’m not really into sports.
What were you doing at 8am this morning? Messing around on my phone in bed.
Anything you wish you could change? No, not really.
Do you go in at a fast food place or drive thru? We normally go in as it’s quicker, but it depends.
What do you think when you hear Australia? My family.
Who’s the last person you talked to on the phone? My mum, I think? I don’t really talk on the phone all that much.
Do you like Chinese food over pizza? It depends on my mood. I love a decent Chinese takeaway but the supermarket versions can be awful.
Do you have a tan? Ha, no.
Biggest annoyance in life right now? Period pains. I swear I ALWAYS get my period when I’m off work or due to do something fun lol.
Do any of your friends have children? Well, I wouldn’t really consider them my friends, but yeah.
Are you jealous of anyone? Anyone who has the time and money to own a horse on their own property.
Where is your dad? I assume he’s at home. I don’t live with my parents.
Any plans today? As little as possible as it’s my first proper day off work in weeks. So far I’ve just been messing about online, watching TV and catching up on some housework lol.
Do you drink your soda with a straw? Yeah, in restaurants and stuff, but we don’t really use straws at home.
Last song listened to? Behind the Wall by Tracy Chapman.
Do you take vitamins daily? No - we do have some in the cupboard but I never remember to take them lol.
Is anyone jealous of you? Not as far as I’m aware.
What are you doing tomorrow? I have a beach ride in the morning and then I’ll probably take a bath and just hang out at home as I suspect my legs will be like jelly haha.
What’s your favorite number? Thirteen.
Do you have a maid come in and clean your house? No, and tbh I wouldn’t want one - I don’t like the idea of someone touching my stuff and being in my home when I’m not there. I don’t mind cleaning though.
Can you say the alphabet backwards? I can’t say that I’ve ever tried.
Cedar Point or Six Flags? We don’t have either of those places here.
Have you ever slept in until 1 PM? Only a few times when I’ve been jetlagged. I like a lie-in but if I sleep too late I feel like I’ve wasted my day for some reason, even if I have no real plans.
Do you believe in love at first sight? No.
Do you like the show Viva La Bam? Haven’t heard of it.
How many kids do you want to have? Zero.
Have you ever gone behind your parents backs? Sure, I can’t imagine there are many adults alive who never lied to their parents lol.
Have you ever lost someone? Yeah.
Where did you get your worst scar from? Falling off the monkey bars when I was about eleven.
What time did you wake up today? 6am when Mike’s alarm went off but I didn’t get out of bed until about half eight.
Have you ever tried to erase someone from your memory? No, not really? I’ve tried to spend less time thinking about certain people though.
Last meal? Vegemite on toast.
Do you like coco pebbles the cereal? Are they like coco pops? If so, yeah, but my parents never bought cereal like that so I only ever got to have it on holiday or at sleepovers lol.
Last time you saw your father? Just before Christmas.
Last time you cried? When the vet said she thought Archie might have cancer. Thankfully it turned out to be a hystiocytoma and the medication cleared it up but I was SO worried as he’s only five.
When you get married what do you think you’ll put most of your focus and money into? I am married and are you talking about the wedding? Because ours was tiny and we spent more money on the honeymoon.
Would you freak out if you were to get pregnant by the last person you hooked up with? I’d be freaked out if I was pregnant in general.
When’s the last time something turned out better than expected? So, one of my customers has taken on their daughters’ spaniel puppy and they asked me to walk him with their two adult dogs - I was DREADING it as the collies can be a bit of a nightmare but actually the spaniel fits right in and they collies actually behave even better now.
Who in your life causes you the most stress or negative feelings? Nobody.
Have you ever had a teacher that also taught your parents? No, my parents weren’t educated in England.
What’s something you complain about frequently? Period pain, dog owners who can’t control their dogs, Mike not tidying up his mess after he’s been in the kitchen.
Do you have anything planned for the summer? Nah, it’s only April. I’ll probably be working most of the summer.
Do you walk fast or slow? It depends.
What form of public transport do you use most often? I don’t use public transport.

Is there something that happened in your past you hate talking about? No.
Your ex is sitting next to you, what do you do? I would probably just awkwardly ignore him lol.
Are you someone who worries too often? Not so much anymore.
Have you ever been completely alone with a boy in his room? I’m 34 and married - what do you think?
Do you ever think “what if” about anything? Sure, who doesn’t?
Is the last person you kissed older than you? He is indeed.
Does everyone deserve a second chance? No.
Are you emotionally strong? I mean, it depends. In some respects I am, in others...not so much.
Is there anyone you don’t wanna lose? Sure.
Are you the type of person who seeks out revenge? No.
Do you think two people can last forever? Until one of them dies, sure.
Do you like falling asleep listening to the rain? I like the idea of it, but the reality is that it just makes me want to pee, lol.
Is your current hair color your natural hair color? Yeah. Do you believe that the last person that you kissed cares for you? I know he does.

Do you honestly have feelings for someone at the moment? I honestly do.
Have you ever slept in the same bed as the opposite sex? Of course.

Meet Shamira Brooke, a wildlife conservationist who is very dedicated to protecting wildlife such as animals, plants, and the environment. She is also the surrogate albiet protective mother figure to Crash and Coco, for she had adopted them as her own and is willing to protect them along the Wumpa Islands.
For as long as she could remember, Shamira has always loved nature. As a little kid, she was very adventurous in the outdoors and explored her surroundings to find plants or animals she had encountered in her home of Australia. Little Shamira was very happy till her family had to move away for her father got a new job to a big city of Los Angelas that was very polluted, and there were hardly any forests for her to go to, nor were there any animals to find. Shamira has learned a harsh reality that people didn't care nor knew about how important nature was when she saw how much forests have been destroyed and learned that many animals or plants have gone extinct. Shamira would dedicate her life to helping the wildlife or animals, then after graduation and earning a master's degree, would go down on a wildlife career path from studying biology and ecology.
Finally, she was ready and had the skills to take on the job as a wildlife conservationist. Shamira Brooke was the best there was and would explore around the world to any forests, deserts, mountains or any kind of habitat that needed to be preserved then to spread the word of how important it is. Shamira has trained herself to be the strongest and most athletic so she could survive in the wild. She uses two boomerangs to defend herself but won't hesitate to get her hands dirty, and she always has carried many important essentials in her traveling backpack she carries around with.
There were three mystical islands she had discovered from sailing across the seas and went on to explore the islands. She would study and learn about the islands that are called " Wumpa Islands." Shamira would observe the wildlife and was careful not to disturb the natives that lived there, She loved the animals and the plants there for she had studied them non stop for several months while writing down her discoveries in her journal until she had to go back home to show off her discoveries. Shamira was very proud of finding the islands and to help preserve them, for she saw that there were some rare animal species she had found, including bandicoots that were almost near extinction. Shamira would later discover a very special blackwood tree that only grew on the island, and she would cut out a few of its bark to create herself two new boomerangs. They are as strong as steel and cut through anything, and they will always come back to her whenever she throws them.
She shared her discoveries and was well praised for it, which made her more motivated than ever to spread the word further, however she has to explore to other continents of the world to find other forms of wildlife that are yet to be discovered. She would be pretty busy and wasn't able to come back to the Wumpa Islands for quite some time, so the islands were left alone. Over the past few years, she would finally return the Islands but saw that it went under some changes and found a strange castle on the 3rd island which she immediately went there to confront the person who built it there. Shamira would meet Dr. Neo Cortex demanded to move his castle out, or she would boot him out herself. She was quickly captured by his lab assistants and was locked away in his dungeon. It all seemed hopeless till Crash rescues her when he came across her prison cell, and she would go on to go through the lab to release as many animals as she could then load them to the blimp where she drives it where Crash is on top of the blimp to fight Cortex.
After Crash defeats the mad scientist and is able to rescue Tawna, Shamira drives the blimp back to the 1st island and to release the animals back to their own habitats. Later on, Tawna would leave on her own, and then Coco would find them to live with them. She felt very guilty and irresponsible for not protecting the islands and how some of the environments suffered greatly from Dr. Cortex, and he was going to take over the world if it wasn't for Crash to stop him. Shamira was very impressed that he stopped the mad scientist but saw that Crash and his sister were just kids that needed someone to look after them aside from Aku Aku, and so Shamira would adopt the bandicoots then to stay permanently on the islands so that she would be able to preserve it better and to make up for her mistakes of leaving it unprotected. Shamira has yet to forgive herself, and the guilt weighs very heavy on her despite how much she was told that it wasn't her own fault to begin with. In her mind, she still believes it was her own fault that the islands and the animals had suffered greatly because of her negligence.
Shamira Brooke would be a caring but protective mother figure to Crash and Coco, and she does well to take care of them the best she can. Shamira would love to educate them and keep them healthy by cooking them healthy meals or helping them exercise while making sure that no harm comes to them. Other than that, she would continue her studies on the islands and try to repair the damaged parts of the islands. It is pretty challenging for her to raise the bandicoots while preserving the islands, but she wouldn't have it either way, and it was all worth it. Aku Aku helps her raise the bandicoots, and he does give her his wisdom to guide her through tough situations.
During the Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back events, Shamira finds out that Cortex was up to no good and has manipulated Crash of collecting crystals when Coco told her. She didn't want to wait around and was quick to take action of finding Crash and to stop him from giving the crystals to the mad scientist, for she holds a pretty heavy grudge against him. Soon, Cortex was aware that Shamira would ruin his plans for she was looking for Crash, so he was quick to capture her and then hold her captive in the space station within a cell. Later on, Professor M. Pathy would join her in the cell. Shamira would quickly learn that M. Pathy used to work with him, which she was understandably furious with her and berated her. The professor was quick to explain that she was tricked into building the Cortex Vortex with him and believed what she was doing was good till she discovered his true intentions, Shamira was hesitant to believe her but saw how very remorseful M. Pathy was and that she did give a tearful apology to her.
Coco eventually finds out that Shamira and Professor M. Pathy are being held captive in the space station and helped break them out by hacking the security systems to release them from their prison cell so they can reach an escape pod to leave the Cortex Vortex and back to earth on N. Sanity Island. The professor would meet Crash and Coco to profusely apologize for helping Cortex, but she was quickly forgiven by the Bandicoots. Touched by their kindness, She would stay on the island to help the bandicoots, which Shamira didn't protest for she grew to like her and did need her help. Shamira would become great friends with Professor M. Pathy and they had a lot in common while sharing similar goals in the events of Crash Bandicoot Warped they would work together of gathering crystals themselves.
They don't agree on everything and that she finds her a bit naive, Shamira encourages her to be more to be more wary. The professor helps calm her down and wants her to be less impulsive, always the voice of reason to her. After spending much time with the professor, the more she started to develop feelings for her, the more she started to become more affectionate while flirty with her. Shamira was pretty nervous herself asking her out and didn't know how to do it, but M. Pathy would ask her out before she could. They have gone on a lot of dates and officially became a couple where they would happily raise the bandicoots together alongside Aku Aku.

In recent years, the wellness and skincare market in Australia has been booming, with many individuals seeking natural and organic solutions to enhance their beauty and well-being. Among the many brands making waves in this space, Spa Ceylon Melbourne stands out for its unique blend of Sri Lankan Ayurveda and luxurious beauty treatments. Using natural and organic ingredients, Spa Ceylon Melbourne offers a holistic approach to skincare that aligns with both modern wellness trends and ancient healing practices.
What is Spa Ceylon Melbourne?
Spa Ceylon is a global leader in luxury Ayurveda, originating from Sri Lanka, and is renowned for its extensive range of beauty and wellness products. The brand’s Melbourne outlets provide Australians with access to these authentic Sri Lankan products, crafted with a commitment to purity, sustainability, and holistic health. Spa Ceylon Melbourne’s offerings encompass a wide variety of skincare, haircare, body care, and wellness products, each formulated with natural, organic ingredients that nurture the body, mind, and spirit.
Understanding Ayurveda: The Foundation of Spa Ceylon
Ayurveda, the ancient system of natural healing, forms the core philosophy of Spa Ceylon Melbourne's product range. Ayurveda, which translates to 'science of life,' focuses on achieving balance and harmony within the body by using natural ingredients and remedies. Spa Ceylon Melbourne embraces this philosophy by integrating time-tested Ayurvedic principles into modern skincare and wellness routines, providing Australians with access to products that promote inner balance and outer radiance.
Key Natural and Organic Ingredients in Spa Ceylon Melbourne Products
Spa Ceylon Melbourne products boast a rich array of natural and organic ingredients, each chosen for its unique benefits and healing properties. Here’s a closer look at some of the most notable ingredients used:
1. Gotukola (Centella Asiatica)
Gotukola, also known as Centella Asiatica, is a staple in Ayurvedic medicine and is known for its potent anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Spa Ceylon Melbourne incorporates Gotukola into many of its products to promote skin elasticity, reduce scarring, and boost collagen production, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
2. Turmeric (Curcuma Longa)
Turmeric is celebrated for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. Spa Ceylon Melbourne utilises this golden spice in a variety of products to reduce redness, fight acne, and promote a brighter complexion. It also helps to protect the skin from environmental stressors and premature ageing.
3. Sandalwood (Santalum Album)
Sandalwood, with its calming and soothing properties, is a key ingredient in Spa Ceylon Melbourne's skincare line. It is particularly effective in treating acne, blemishes, and skin irritation, while also providing a cooling effect that is ideal for the Australian climate. Sandalwood’s aromatic essence also offers a natural way to relieve stress and anxiety.
4. Neem (Azadirachta Indica)
Neem is known for its powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Spa Ceylon Melbourne’s products that include neem are particularly effective for treating skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne, while also providing deep cleansing and detoxifying benefits for healthy, radiant skin.
5. Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera)
Coconut oil is rich in vitamins and fatty acids that nourish and moisturise the skin. Spa Ceylon Melbourne uses coconut oil in many of its products to hydrate dry skin, repair the skin barrier, and provide a smooth and soft texture without clogging pores.
The Benefits of Using Spa Ceylon Melbourne's Products
1. Natural and Organic Formulations
Spa Ceylon Melbourne's commitment to natural and organic ingredients ensures that their products are free from harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances, parabens, and other toxic substances. This not only minimises the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions but also aligns with a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to beauty.

Spa Ceylon Melbourne is dedicated to ethical and sustainable practices. All products are cruelty-free, and the brand uses recyclable packaging and environmentally friendly sourcing methods. This commitment resonates with many Australians who are increasingly conscious of their environmental footprint.

"... Oh, I was captivated by her irises,"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ❦
In the heart of Melbourne, where the city's pulse quickened with every passing tram, there was a girl like no other. Born on a crisp 30th of November morning in 1997, she was destined for greatness. But this was no ordinary destiny; it was a tale woven with threads of sophistication and a dash of audacious charm.
Meet her, the "Human Chanel." She was a vision in every sense, her grace and allure akin to a fashion icon. Her wardrobe resembled an art gallery, each piece a masterpiece, and every ensemble a story in itself. Isabella had an insatiable penchant for Chanel, as if her veins coursed with the essence of Coco herself. Her closet, a treasure trove of luxury, spoke volumes about her taste. The clinking of pearls and the rustling of silk were her lullabies. Meet her, Chanel Montgomery Beausejour.
Was born in the famous Beausejour family in Melbourne, Gregory Beausejour & Anne-Marie Bass treat Chanel like the finest diamond since she is the only child of the family. She was allowed to enter any kind of school that she wanted, but ended up she choosing Fashion Design as her major and graduated from Institut Français de la Mode in Paris. She attended Huntingtower School during her high school period and met a lot of friends who became her best companions.
During her highschool day in the sunny afternoon, Chanel sauntered down Collins Street, the epitome of elegance. As she passed the luxurious store, a group of her friends, led by her closest confidante, Jake chimed in, "You truly are the 'Human Chanel.' But don't you ever get tired of the brand?"
She laughed, her laughter as melodious as a city pop tune. "Tired of Chanel? That's like asking if one can ever tire of the stars in the night sky. Chanel is my constellation, my guiding light. Chanel is me, duh?"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ❦
People were drawn to Chanel's magnetic aura, much like the way the city lights beckon the wanderers on the streets of Melbourne. She had a way of turning synecdoche into symphonies, taking small moments and making them resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to be in her presence.
But she was more than just a walking, talking fashion statement. Beneath the lavish suits and the designer shades, she was an intellect with an insatiable curiosity. She devoured books like a starving artist savors the colors of a painting, each page a feast for her mind.
With her positivity and clear vision, people might consider her as the modern-day Fitzgerald character; filled with a fiery passion, endless dreams, and a tiny dash of sassiness in every step he takes. She also would to pursue her career as an assistant fashion designer in Elle Magazine.
Her life was a symphony of style, intellect, and a hint of audacity. In a city that thrived on diversity, she stood out like a rare gem, a modern-day embodiment of a Gatsby-esque elegance. Melbourne, with all its grandeur, had found its queen, and she went by the name Chanel, the "Human Chanel."

Thursday 10th August
Well woke to another beautifully warm and breezy day. The temperature only changes by a few degrees between day and night (26 to 23) humidity this morning is 80% but the trade winds are making it feel pleasant and are gentle not howling. I kept the aircon on overnight mainly because of the humidity, used earplugs to avoid noise distractions and had a generous glass red with dinner. Result was an excellent sleep and I am back on track😁. It is so relaxing sitting on my balcony/veranda looking at the sea in such lovely weather. Although not sure I would enjoy the wet when Chris told me it is 110%humidity and average 2 metres rain (last year they got 5 1/2 metre!)
Yesterday I asked about playing golf (the course is lovely and worth just walking if don’t play). You can hire clubs and pay course fee at Tourist bureau but there is no buggy. I was too tired yesterday to follow it up but will go back today and feel what the weight of the bag is and use that to determine if I play. Will hopefully also go and spend some time at a couple of the places Chris showed me yesterday and get some photos. Today I am on a Nature walk with Chris and some others for about 4 hrs which will make up for my rather sedentary past few days. They do get mossies here but they don’t carry any of the usual tropical diseases they do on the tropical mainland. No snakes I think he said but lots crabs!
COMMENT: although this is an island and hence you would expect lots beaches there is in fact very few due to the land dropping off in vertical limestone cliffs to the ocean. There are 2 beaches on one side but very rough this time year and best swim is near the main settlement at Flying Fish Cove. It is not a particularly inviting area surrounded by the working harbour and reef. It has a fairly high salt content I was told so floating is easy😁.Although it is a snorkelling paradise and fairly shallow. The other surprise for an island is that fish is not available in large amounts as it can only be caught by line fishing. There is no professional fisheries.
Other surprising thing was NBN which I mentioned earlier. I am going to make the most of internet and mobile coverage here (no data on your mobile though as apparently it is only 2 or 3g here). Once at Cocos (this Tuesday) there is no mobile coverage and only odd Wifi hotspots on the island. So no posts etc!
Also if you think Australia Post is slow on the mainland it is diabolical here. The tourist bureau told me a postcard posted Priority post from here will take 3 weeks to Perth and 6 weeks normal post if you are lucky😏.
Water here is fine to drink but the calcium levels must be high as you can see the build up on everything and very quick build up. Also like all seaside places they are always chasing metal and wood damage from salt.
You could be living in Asia with a few expatriates around rather than an Australian territory. Everything about the place is Asian influence from the style of shops, food, product, odd roads tha run in strange places with potholes and dust and hearing Asian languages.
Apparently the average age of visitors is mid 60’s which they hypothesise is because it is expensive to come and to live, there are no adventurous sport or activity beloved of younger people other than diving and snorkeling both of which can be expensive and no real beaches or surfing etc that would justify the expense. No clubs or night life .Also most people haven’t heard of the islands.
PM(I wrote a lot but lost it to the universe so here we go again)
Just got back from the Nature Tour. We had over 4hrs walking in the forrest at different locations and seeing and hearing about the fauna and flora. Specifically blue, red and Robber crabs(called coconut crabs some places), various birds, scorpions (whose bite can cause extreme pain for 3hrs to 3 weeks I think he said. We didn’t see them just heard but scarily they have been found in shoes and laundry baskets so not always in the forrest). I also need to correct a couple of erroneous pieces of info I gave. There is one venomous snake but can’t bite humans as it can’t get its mouth open enough to inject venom. Also the bird with the split tail is a Frigate bird.
We also went on a great board walk that took us view what seemed to be an endless coastline of blowholes. Pretty scary when you hear this sudden huge roar and then the geyser even when you know they are there. Just unpredictable. When I can I will download a whole lot of photos but even here with some WIFI I am not able to reliably load photos. All other nature related information has gone out of my head! I don’t seem to remember it as well as I do social history😁.
