#Lion Brand Yarn
Text
So Lion Brand Yarn, one of the biggest names in acrylic yarn in the United States, just posted AI generated images with tags as disclaimers and credit the “artist”
Tumblr media
To say I am disappointed is an understatement but that disappointment turned to anger quickly as the social media team responded to concerns with dismissive comments or emojis.
I left this thread where I basically respectfully told them that they should not post ai images and continue to show case fiber artists including those who make huge projects. They responded with since they tagged it as AI and feature fiber artists daily it’s ok. I responded back that most people don’t read captions on social media and it is disrespectful to many artists including those 16000 that had their art stolen by midjouney.

The Folklore Cardigan is done! I'm exhausted, but I'll reblog this later with things I would change/what I've learned from this project.

my beloved (derogatory) devil yarn blanket - when you learn that lion brand homespun is beautiful and soft and EVIL
after several failures, i made this by feel >:(
and yeah. it is super soft and has lovely drape and looks gorgeous but i will never work with that yarn again!! no matter how seductive the colorway!!!

I never posted my market bag pattern? Huh. The crochet bottom makes it extra sturdy, and you can tuck things into the handle like chapstick or rolled up cash 👍🏻

I was so curious how this lovely black and white yarn would look. Curiosity sated. Looks messy. But if you want some tv static. Here ya go.

Here's a quick project I worked up while I had COVID a couple weeks ago. Fast to dress and weave as a palette cleanser from the frustration of the Christmas towels.
I used knitpicks Dishie cotton yarn sett at 8epi for two hand towels and a washcloth. I bought the yarn originally for some Purlsoho knitted dish towels, but found it to be a little too heavy and absorbent. Like, they got wet and stayed wet.
Tin Tiles dishtowel by Purlsoho in Dishie Kenai:

It was a fun challenge to calculate what I could make with what I had-- all I've got left now is 34g of the orangey brown.

Here they are right off the loom!
And washed up:

I used the draft I designed for the first project I did on my own, which was lionbrand Touch of Linen sett at 10epi. I really like them, they're wonderfully soft and drapey. I'll probably make a separate post for the stuff I've made with the Touch of Linen yarn.

And here are the samples I made with the Yarnworker sampling looms I got for Christmas! Blue fringe is 12 epi, orange is 8. You can see I also played around with different fringes-- I don't really like the way regular fringe looks and twisted fringe takes a long fucking time. I'm interested in like a knotted macrame sort of situation but I think I need to actually look up how to do it instead of just making it up lol

This Sweater Screams Ransom Drysdale.

Yep, I will have to knit this for myself "when I have the time".
I have heard "Can you knit this for me? When you have the time" more often than not as a knitter.

Very mixed feelings on Lion brand's Stitch Soak Scrub.
I was super excited to get it in and I can't stop squishing it.
Very poor stitch definition.
Not irritating to crochet with, unlike other plastic dish scrub yarns.
I really want to buy the white one so that I can finally crochet "transparent" things, like glasses.
The entire thing is a mini version of those plastic black chokers we used to wear.
Very easy to accidentally unravel it.
I made a dish scrubbie out of it along with some Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle. The finished product is weirdly... gummy? Kind of like some of those cheap black mats you can get to wipe your feet on, or like the mats that trap cat litter. It's not really a good texture although I can't stop squishing it. It's like a soggy chewed-up Lifesaver.

✨Bandanna Time✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I made this bandanna using a tutorial on YouTube from the content creator Passioknit Kelsie!
*Bonus edit: had left over and made a mini one with no fancy stuff. Made the strings single crochet rather than slip stitches!
I ended up using a size 3 compared yarn to a size 4 because I had this leftover skein of lion brand ice cream yarn (cake batter). This meant, I had to put in a few extra rows to compensate for the smaller yarn despite using the same size hook as in the tutorial.
I also took some liberties when it went to the point as this was based off the scalloped bandanna tutorial that was recently posted.
It took me about four hours the first day to get most of the bandanna done, and then the second day was just finishing up the last two rows and adding in the scallops and strings.
Overall, they actually fit pretty good and I was right on the money with the measurements since when I reached up the initial 10 rows it felt too small so I had to add an additional 10 rows to it.
All the wall it was really fun experience and I got to learn a new way to make use of crochets.
Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Art done by me, misskazehana
