I do find it interesting how Louis's reaction to Daniel's frankly benign joke about Lestat's letter was so different from his responses towards Daniel over the torn diary pages. Both times prior, he either becomes very angry, enough to make Daniel suddenly lose control of his body, or he becomes so overwhelmed he has to leave the room. But in neither of those times did Daniel ever go after Lestat or mock him for his love for Lestat. And the second he does, Louis not only bites back but even becomes gleeful at the thought of affecting Daniel this severely.

i know we talk about chuck chair armand but have we ever talked about daniel not really being that into it? like all daniel wants is armand and yet he sleeps with these people armand brings back and why? if he doesn't enjoy it, why do it? i think daniel sleeps with these people to please armand because he believes that it's what armand wants but what armand wants is daniel. i think, in some sick twisted way, armand is echoing his relationship with marius.

I said it over on twitter but it bears repeating over here.

Louis is light-skinned, him being black doesn't mean he automatically has the darkest skin tone in the room, and it's noticeable and odd when you choose to draw him darker than Armand. I understand the want to make sure you aren't whitewashing but we've gone too far in the other direction and it's still not great. You do need to still put in the effort to not just slapping any skin tone on a person. This happens with Claudia a ton too, especially with season 1 Claudia.

Black people are not a monolith. We aren't a vague collection of swappable features to pick and choose at random, and its starting to feel like artists don't care to actually draw how black characters look as long as they are recognizable as a generalized black person. Making non-black characters notably lighter and smaller in stature compared to a black character has roots in a bunch of racist shit, and it feels especially egregious in Louis' case. Ofc as an artist you're going to emphasize and stylize one way or another, but you also need to recognize that you aren't creating in a vacuum, and how you depict people is reflective of how many of us are seen.

I have to wonder, if Madeleine and Louis could feel each other, could the same be said about Claudia and Lestat? Or Louis and Lestat?

Or did the sense of being able to feel each other disappear after they thought Lestat was dead? Claudia's rage alone could have been enough to cover up the feeling. Louis's own hatred of Lestat, mixed with his guilt and love for him anyway, could have clouded it as well.

But if they had been able to feel him, would they have known he was in Paris? Would it have been enough for them to sense the danger and to get away? And, most importantly, would that have been enough to keep Claudia and Madeleine alive?

God that line makes me so feral. I love how it was just a summary of Daniel’s character and his current whereabouts and like, the one thing he’s known for in the vampire community other than having interviewed Louis and inadvertently starting the vampire chronicles in-universe, is just… being that one guy who stole Armand’s whole heart. Shook him to his core, made him break all of his oaths and promises. It’s just a single throwaway line but it’s so so romantic 😪

it's funny too because last night i was thinking about whether daniel realizes how important his role in the vampire community is. like had he not interviewed louis and sent his tapes away to become a book, lestat might never have risen and decided to fuck things up and write his own story, he never would have incited all of vampire kind to come together at cow palace for the concert, akasha wouldn't have forced them to reconcile and work together and form a community i just-

if you think that even one of Louis' songs or even individual lyrics is straightforwardly about only one thing I feel sorry for you, that you are missing out on the number one thing that characterizes his writing style- the clever overlap and interplay of meanings and references in every line- and for him, that his fans are out here completely oblivious to the thing he is, I would guess, proudest of about his lyrical craft, the thing that's his writing SIGNATURE, in favor of just being like "x is just About this and only this that's what he Means period end of". The Way I Do is or can be about lots of things, but that has nothing to do with the fact that for Louis to use phrases such as "it's not one thing it's everything" and "next to you" (and both in a single verse even) that had been catchphrases and slogans basically of the larry fandom for a decade at the time he wrote and recorded that does not exist in a vacuum and is kind of fucking unhinged (and there's literally zero chance he doesn't Know). And the habit reference is used the same as he uses it on Walls; as a fluid is it love or is it addiction is it love of a person or of the fans/ performing metaphor. Of course it refers to that! And that doesn't for one second rule out or even make less likely that it also refers to any number of other things, have some damn appreciation for his CRAFT and subtlety!

I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.

Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.

Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.

Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.

Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.

Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.

If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.

So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.

Interview with the Vampire is, in terms of genre queer melodrama, what fandom really wanted something like SPN or even Hannibal to be. It has the longing, the drama, the messiness, the blood and violence, and it also lets the vampires fuck.

And it made Claudia and Madeleine lesbians who get to tell the other characters to fuck off and Madeleine refusing to be saved because "Claudia is my coven" is everything I want in a tragic love story. RIP Claudia and Madeleine, you would have been amazing vampires and would have been happy if you weren't surrounded by fucking idiots

I mean Zayn was getting involved in fashion industry before Gigi and after their first breakup too. After that he disappeared I think he went into a bad space and also had issues with RCA. This time around his whole team he had with MOM is back.

Yeah I guess I'm more surprised that it's the fashion/ pop culture magazines and promo outlets he's going for, and not the music ones.

I feel like Zayn is just "known"... like he's known for leaving 1D, being with Gigi, making music... Some sort of household name? Even people who don't keep up with his music career still know him, so long after his 1dxit. His SM stats are reflective of that, and if I remember correctly he's getting good numbers of streams even without any promo.

I guess my point is that he has a good PR team and still has all the right access. He's been MIA for years (NIL barely got promo because of Sony and the timing with covid) and somehow is now on the cover of major magazines, drops in at Fallon, gets on Hot Ones... all of that for a single promo.
