No importa porque cuando la Belleza es prepotente, fuerte y equilibrada, se basta sola. Permanece en el tiempo, capa tras capa y se escucha en el aire como el ruido de fondo del agua feliz, que brota, fluye y siempre encuentra su camino. ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ La fuente de Moisés fue realizada en 1587 y diseñada por Domenico Fontana, arquitecto favorito de Sisto V Peretti (1585-1590), y autor de muchas de las empresas de construcción con la que el "Papa tosto" renovó la cara de la ciudad (Urbe) a finales del siglo XVI. La fuente constituye la muestra del Agua Feliz, acueducto que Sisto V quería conducir, reutilizando parcialmente la antigua Aqua Alexandrina, para suministrar agua a las colinas del Quirinale, del Viminale y del Esquilino, donde también estuvo su gran villa suburbana. Dentro del nicho del arco central se encuentra la gran estatua de Moisés que da nombre a la fuente, obra de Leonardo Sormani y Prospero Antichi muy poco apreciada desde su primera aparición. Los bajorrelieves de los nichos laterales, ambos de temática bíblica, fueron realizados por Flaminio Vacca el de la derecha, y Giovanni Battista della Porta el de la izquierda. En el ático de dimensiones inusuales alberga el largo epígrafe de celebración de la obra, rematado a su vez por un escudo pontificio en ambos lados dos Fame, también realizados por F. Vacca e G. B. della Porta.
