EAMES ELEPHANT BY VITRA (BIG UPDATE)
In the early 1940s, Charles and Ray Eames spent several years developing and refining a technique for moulding plywood into three-dimensional shapes, creating a series of furniture items and sculptures in the process. Among these initial designs, the two-part elephant proved to be the most technically challenging due to its tight compound curves, and the piece never went into serial production. One prototype, which was given to Charles's 14-year-old daughter Lucia Eames, was loaned to the Museum of Modern Art in New York for a 1946 exhibition. Several years ago, the Eames Elephant was also launched in plastic, making it available to the target group for which it was originally intended: children. And a smaller version – with an identical design but reduced in scale – likewise comes in plastic in a choice of colours.
Hello everyone! I made a new update for the Eames Elephant that I created years ago! This new version has better details (as you can see on the photo under) and also the new wood version is added. Dark wood, Grey wood and Light wood.

It was you all along (Agatha HarknessxFemale reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: This is a sweet self-insert love story between Agatha and a Westview citizen. Everything that happens follows the original events of "Wandavision" and MCU, like a parallel.
Chapter: 06/10
Word count: 1.295k
The minute we left the car, she grabbed my arm and dragged me inside a house. I had no time to ask anything, it felt like we were running from something. Or maybe from someone. We went down the stairs skipping a few steps until we reached a dark corridor. I couldn’t see anything but she knew exactly where to go, and I just followed her. Finally, we went through a huge door made of stone, which she closed right after we got inside. She stood there for a while and I walked away, mesmerized.
I’ve never seen that many books before. Several were open in a table that was also made of stone. The room smelled like a thousand candles, and there were all kinds of glass containers on the walls and a few on the floor. The little light that we had in there was all due to some torches that were still lit, and I could see lots of curtains hanging around, maybe separating that room from other spaces. I searched for Agnes, but she wasn’t by the door anymore.
"Ask me", she said, in a calm voice, right by my side. I took a deep breath.
"When I couldn’t move", I said, not looking at her. "Was it you? You did that?"
"Yes."
"That force field. That blast…"
"I know about that as much as you do." She said, walking towards me. "So you have no idea of who I am?"
"I thought I knew.", I said, feeling kinda hurt.
I mean, a few days before, I’d say that I totally knew her. In fact, that I might as well be in love with her. The girl that danced with me on a slippery floor, singing songs and giving me wings.
But now? I had no idea.
She took a few steps on my way. I stood still, not saying a word. All I did was watch her getting closer and closed my eyes.
"I’m not gonna hurt you", she whispered, now holding my face with both of her cold hands. "But I wanna show you."
Everything was purple for a second.
When I opened my eyes, I was alone in a beautiful field. It took me some time to realize that it wasn’t a dream. I heard someone giggling and followed that sound.
Two girls were sitting by a really tall tree, laughing. One of them had pale white skin and a hair so golden that would make the sun jealous, perfectly braided. The other one was, as I presumed, a younger version of Agnes. None of them noticed me.
"Lucia, stop it!", young Agnes said, her cheeks getting bright red while she snorted. "I can’t breathe!"
"I swear it happened just like that, Agatha!", the other girl, which now I knew was named Lucia, kept gesturing with her hand.
“Agatha?” I asked myself, before glancing at the kids in front of me.
They stood there in silence for a moment, before another memory came up. Same field, same tree. Lucia was now holding a red rose in front of... Agatha. She had nothing to give in return, so with a quick gesture, a lily just materialized in her delicate hands. They exchanged their flowers, smiling at each other and walking side by side.
The girls faded just like magic, and suddenly I was somewhere else. A room, filled with books and a small wooden bed. Agatha was asleep, and even knowing that she couldn’t see or hear me, I tried to be as quiet as possible. When she got up, I followed her. Now she was a little bit older, I realized, and was on her way to go outside. We were in some sort of castle, and lots of women passed by us, all nodding and carrying the most peculiar things. We walked through a village really fast, and if it wasn’t inside my head I didn’t know if I’d be able to keep it up. I was pretty sure she had walked this path so many times before. There was the tree again, the only one in the whole field. Lucia was lying under it but in an awfully weird position. Her arms and legs spread as she had just… fallen.
Agatha called her, but she didn’t move. She did it again, her voice breaking. I stood right next to her when she kneeled and noticed a small river of blood lying behind Lucia’s head. Her legs gave out and she fell, tears bursting from her eyes. The sound that came out of her was the saddest thing I have ever heard.
She looked up, fighting the tears off. There was a beautiful white flower on the top of that tree. Lucia must have been trying to reach it when it happened.
Agatha ran back to the castle. She needed help and knew exactly where to go, her heart pounding with despair. She thought about getting inside that forbidden room so many times. Only older and wise witches, like her mother, could access that library. None of the younger girls was allowed to even pass by the door, so she never even tried. But when her hands touched the knob, it simply opened. She got in. Her eyes were wide open when she entered that dark room and all the candles just lit up, leading her way. She was searching for something, anything that would bring her Lucia back. Suddenly she glanced at one of the books. It was glowing. Agatha seemed surprised, but there was no time for that. She grabbed the book and instead of running, she waved both of her hands around her, and just like that, we got into the field again. One last time.
She sat down and, real gentle, placed Lucia’s head on her lap. Agatha tried to open that book, but nothing happened. She tried again, putting some strength into it. Nada. So stupid. How would she, such a younger witch, open a forbidden book?
She looked at her lover’s face, staring at those closed eyes that would never glance at her again. Those cold hands that she'd never be able to hold. A few drops started to fall from the sky, the blue turning into black really fast. It was raining, and she didn’t even realize it. The leaves on the tree just slowly twirled and fell, leaving nothing but twigs. Agatha wasn’t just sad anymore. She was furious. Her eyes locked on the book, the only thing that could save them both. Lucia… and herself. She reached her finger and tried to touch it one more time.
The book opened right in front of her, on a page that had something written in big red letters: “Producat eam”. “Bring them up” she whispered. She held it with one hand, fighting against all the wind around her. With the other, she touched Lucia’s forehead, enchanting the words in an urgent and deep voice.
When out of nowhere a woman approached her.
"AGATHA!", the woman shouted. "Stop that immediately!"
Agatha kept enchanting, her voice getting weaker as if she couldn’t breathe to say another word. Suddenly she was surrounded by lots of people. Lots of women. All of them staring at her with furious eyes. All their hands turned in her direction at once, and she got her own hands around her throat. Her voice was gone.
She mouthed “please” and “mother”, looking down at Lucia with tears in her eyes, but she never had a chance. “Forbidden!”, one of them screamed. “You knew it was forbidden!”
And then I just saw flashes of memories. Agatha begging to be spared, fighting while being dragged to a big torch, promising to be good. Terrified, before the blue light rays became purple.

Creative Practitioner Research
The creative practitioners I have been given are Charles and Ray Eames.
Charles and Ray Eames
Charles and Ray Eames are a team of American industrial designers. They are seen as some of the most influential designers of the 20th century.
Charles Eames
Tumblr media
Born in 1907, Charles Eames always had an interest in architecture. He studied at Washington University on an architecture scholarship. After only two years on this scholarship, he was reportedly ‘withdrawn’ from university on account that his designs were seen as “too modern” and he was very expressive of his modern views.
In 1930, Charles began his own architectural practice in St. Louis with design partner Charles Gray. His works were primarily influenced by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen.
To continue his education, he studied architecture at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and later became the head of the industrial design programme there.
His initial furniture design started with design colleague Eero Saarinen, where the pair were asked to design furniture for New York’s ‘Museum of Modern Art’ design competition.
After getting married to Ray in 1941, together they established ‘The Eames Office’, heading a team of staff and forming a leading name of 20th century furniture design until Charles passed away due to a heart attack in 1978.
Ray Eames
Tumblr media
Born in 1912, Ray grew up in Sacramento, California. She actually studied as an expressive artist with Hans Hofmann. She pursued this love for art by becoming a founding member of the American Abstract Artists group. During the 1930′s, galleries refused to show many expressive works which is why this group was established.
A friend of hers recommended she should further her studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art to broaden her artistic abilities. This is where she met Charles. After getting married in 1941, they both pursued to build and develop The Eames Office. She passed away in 1988, 10 years after Charles, during which time, she continues to work on some of their unfinished projects. Her death resulted in the closing of The Eames Office.
What Is Their Practice?
youtube
This video I found gives an introduction to the design work of Charles and Ray Eames.
The Eameses are best known for their design work in architecture, furniture design, industrial design, photography and expressive arts.
Together they worked to build up and develop The Eames Office.
Their Missions and Beliefs
One of their main goals was to positively impact peoples lives and environments through the art of design.
Although The Eames Office has closed down since Ray’s death, Charles’ first daughter Lucia and her children are keeping the designs and memories alive. They also want to uphold the legacy that is her family and what they stood for.
Architecture
The couple worked on designing and building their own house, now known as ‘The Eames House’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Industrial Design
Some of the first design work done by the couple was in 1943 when Charles and Ray were commissioned to design and create leg splints, stretchers and glider shells in response to the need during World War II.
Tumblr media
They are also known for their furniture design, in particular, their design for chairs and seating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their chair designs were considered some of first major chair design development since the 1920′s Breuer’s Chairs.
Tumblr media
Another particularly famous design, the LCM Low, Charles and Ray chose to work with plywood and the particular organic shapes of the chairs for multiple reasons. The use of plywood to mould the back of the chairs were used for comfort as well as the fact that once solid, the curved plywood would never lose its shape. This curve was created to suit the shapes of the human body for optimum comfort. Rubber feet were also used due to their resistance to oil and grease and a small section was used to connect the frame to the back support as a shock absorbent. All the plywood was treated with a resin so as the two materials become one, to create a durable finish, resistant to scratches and dents.
Materials
The initial materials the couple worked with was plywood. During their early works in World War II, they were working towards redesigning the leg splint. Metal was becoming problematic due to side effects such as gangrene, occurring because of impaired blood circulation. The couple chose to work with plywood which they were able to shape into compound curves with a mix of heat and pressure.
Tumblr media
During the time of the New York “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” competition, the couple worked with plywood experiments. The techniques of heat and applied pressure to create the organic shapes proved a slow process for manufacturers. Their design was considered “a significant innovation was that a manufacturing method never previously applied to furniture was employed to make a light structural shell consisting of layer of plastic glue and wood veneers moulded in three dimensional forms”.
Tumblr media
Some of their next chair designs began to be tested with fibreglass.

Environment-friendly Furniture
Licensed Lasting Wood Whispering 'furnishings' as well as it opens your creative imagination with brilliant images of retro and modern-day furnishings in motley products Wood, fabric, steel, glass and also processed product like Methacrylate, high-density fiber-- one of the most common being wood-- accepted globe over for its all-natural beauties. There are choices to meet the elegant as well as needs, and the options are good for you, for me, good for everybody. Let's say the globe needs trees-- they help with the all-natural equilibrium. They hold the soil with each other, they cool down up the world surface as well as they help with the food chain. We have actually been disputing over making use of wood from sustainable harvested woodlands, sustainably harvested timberland, as well as reclaimed wood being the major sources. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and its largest forest certifier, the Rain forest Alliance, is one of the most favored standard for lasting forestry. Relating to the motif, I discovered a number of designs that appealed for the right factors ... The Baltic coffee table rocks for its antique attributes and also green theme. Crafted with harvested Solid Wood-Durian Hardwood, it matches the light hearted as well as traditional buff alike ... the ring-shaped deals with on the drawers look excellent, and the low-slung layout needs interest ... Then we have the Tua Glass Doors Media Stand-- an unique combination of utility & lost appeals-- the furnishings preserves antique search in contemporary type. Intelligent furniture ... Turning away from antique looks, lets concentrate on contemporary green furnishings ... the Loft media center, for instance. Made faithfully to shop and also display, it lugs components of sound design to make perfect furnishings. Likewise is worthy of a reference is the Loft space Modern Table with its watertight features that add a contemporary touch to the overalls. Furnishings made with redeemed materials. A stitch in time conserves nine. Timber, as valuable as it is, if dealt with, could last for a long period of time. Bear in mind the famous timber furnishings tales handed down by grannies as it being protected because long period of time. I think there is wonderful compound in maintaining timber. Why should not we make good use of all the wood that's currently around? It's properly and also several developers are doing a terrific work from reclaimed timber. Reclaimed timber is the timber that usually is gotten from old furniture, homes as well as various other wooden articles, as additionally from left over sraps in a factory. Some stuff even comes from all-time low of the riverbed, wood logs that sink to the base while being transported to the sawmill, and even from the bottom of the man-made tanks. In any case, furnishings made from recovered timber is a terrific example of source efficiency, yet generally comes in shorter supply. The Rainforest Partnership has a Rediscovered Timber Certification tag to search for. Spacify line of AZCAST collection is devoted to crafting furniture out of redeemed product, crafting appealing and valuable furniture and also goods that are ultimately recyclable themselves; without a doubt, when an incomplete item is rejected, it is just recast and also utilized once again. Most of its styles deserve pointing out ... the 5-Star Glass Dining Table, for instance. Made from light weight aluminum made use of in aircraft components (among other sources) is hand-poured right into casts to produce the preferred moldings. The tidy minimal layout hits a cord with furniture aficionados as each item is hand-molded, hand-poured, as well as hand-finished. Bamboo-- excellent lawn for furniture! Bamboo is a very visual lawn utilized to enhance, develop and also landscape. It represents a family of lawns that range in size from a blade, maturing to many feet, and also differing in color from jade eco-friendly to maroon stripes. It grows unbelievably rapid and is extremely functional. Actually, it is the favorite with environmental designers and building contractors. The charm of bamboo lies in its versatility. It can be flattened right into flooring, formed into furnishings, compressed into veneers, sliced up to earn window blinds. To obtain to extremes, you could even construct an entire house from it. Using bamboo in buildings makes architects and also builders LEED (Leadership in Power and Environmental Layouts) points. Most organic bamboo is expanded in China, occasionally grown with couple of or at finest, no pesticides. Since it expands quickly, it is much easier to maintain a healthy bamboo forests. This also means it makes use of a lot of water, however, and also harvesting as well quickly could deplete dirt fertility. But also for the most component, bamboo is just one of the greenest products around. According to the concept, I recently came across Spacify's Legare furnishings and also makes it right here for all environment-friendly reasons. Made with Birch-plywood, it is worth keeping in mind that creating plywood returns 8-10 times more functional wood from a log as against strong lumber. Plywood furniture has greater potential to outlive strong wood furnishings. And also the power used in converting wood from a basic material to a finished item is small as compared with other industrial material. Some examples ... The Dante Straight Desk made from 13-ply Baltic Birch Plywood is an FSC-certified 60" workdesk offering charitable room for storage space & study. A stupendous examination carried out at Entela Labs showed that the furnishings took care of to pack an extraordinary 2000 extra pounds (one ton) of shot bags as well as weights on Legare's Corner Workdesk without structural damages! Plywood furniture has been around for a little over 100 years and its production strategies have been checked out by a handful of developers consisting of Aalto, Eames, Danko, and Pfeiffer. The Enrico straight workdesk goes on to verify just why. The modular layout enables you to lock numerous devices together to create a solitary, inflexible workspace. The assembly is easy-- without screws and also bolts. The Bice Peninsula adds that added bit of deep handy desk space as well as is fantastic for two-way meetings. The 31" Peninsula includes approx 31" of deep, end-cap width to an existing desk. The asymmetric panels are reversible, allowing left/right-hand system to be attached to either side any kind of workdesk or to an expansion. The Zita Modern Media Stand is a modular design showing off 4 8-high bays for audio/video elements. The top could hold Plasmas/LCDs approximately 50 cm in dimension. For surround stereos, the facility divider is recessed to permit a small center-channel audio speaker to be preferably positioned under the TV and it has storage for more than 120 DVDs or 170 CDs on its 4 external racks. Recyclable and disassemblable The globe would look a lot far better, and also us, we would certainly really feel a bit more secure with eco-friendly furnishings talking the universal language of eco-friendliness. interesting for its equanimity and also usefulness, FSC licensed furnishings rings for its noticeable effects on environment. Method items licensed by the Forest Stewardship Council, a global organization developed to establish standards and also accreditation procedures for environmentally lasting forestry. Some examples of these items would be ones that could be quickly disassembled, prepared, and recycled once they have actually lived their lives. Concrete furnishings is out of fashion, in this context, and it means furniture that can not be separated, might not be really inspiring. If it cannot be conveniently dismantled it's possibly a sign it can not be repaired easily. For apparent factors, we need to take a close look at the recyclable furniture we wish to purchase. Is it robust, simple to assemble & essential-- is it accredited? Spacify's Legare collection looks clever as well as I wish to highlight a couple of models ... The standards being set, I like the Lucia Designer Extension Desk for its simple appearances, very easy assembly, usefulness as well as toughness. Made with 3-Ply Baltic Birch Plywood, the Panels are crooked and reversible and the Bridges are developed to draw two desks with each other to make bigger workspaces for 2 or more customers. As well as indeed, its really easy to obtain together ... Lia Office Corner Workdesk deserves a mention also. The edge desk is offered in 2 dimensions; as well as holds it there; Entela Labs showed that the furnishings managed to load an amazing 2000 extra pounds (one bunch) of shot bags and also weights with no structural damage! Adjustable shelving stands up to three 12" racks and three 24" racks. Fantastic style ... much less difficulty ... its FSCfied as well ... Low-toxicity furniture Have you ever saw new furniture or vehicle with its strange odor-- it's exactly what they call off gassing, emanation of unpredictable matter of any kind of kind from products into habitable locations. It's not reasonably brand-new; when you get a piece of furniture as well as set it down, it has the tendency to off gas which is okay if the materials used are non-synthetic. Some artificial products are harmful and also can be connected to birth defects, or even cancer cells. If your residence is well insulated, toxins tend to flow in the air and also can be hazardous. If you have kids around as well as pet dogs that lick as a behavior, it can be harmful. One great idea while purchasing furniture is to check for" Eco-friendly guard qualification". It will certainly guarantee that you bring home low-toxicity furnishings. Additionally, attempt to discover naturally dealt with furniture with natural timber surfaces, or biologically tanned leather as well as organic cotton. Below are some fine examples of eco-friendly quality furniture, Lectern Table Mobile Base is indoor air quality Licensed ® by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute under the GREENGUARD Requirement for Reduced Emitting Products. The metal mobile Base is a well-structured production while top is made of smooth timber as well as is noteworthy for its uncommon shape and fine side throughout. Meets or exceeds ANSI/BIFMA standards soft side alternatives secures the user (in addition to the furniture) from damages. Team Table X-Base with metal stand and also wood veneers leading makes a design declaration, offered in 4 Surface/Edge colors. It is designed to fulfill ANSI/BIFMA requirements; soft edge choices shield the customer (in addition to the furnishings) from damage. Timber fiber core as well as veneer surface are 100% post-industrial reuse material. Jack Solo Workplace Table is right for tight areas. The conventional layout with black discreetness panel is intuitive to make use of and also comes with 4 stopping casters for mobility as well as control. The ADA suitable layout has Solitary activation bar for flip-flop motion located under job surface area.
