LUKE S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 17

SCRIPTURE:

"Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”  ~ Luke 17:4

OBSERVATION:

Seven means "completeness" or "completely"...

More times than I can count on one hand...

So... "Even if that person completely wrongs me throughout the day and asks forgiveness, I must - must - forgive him..."

And not just "that person," but every person - from the commute to the job to the store to home...

In the same way, I must completely forgive them... every time...

How many times a day to I wrong God?

And yet, because of Jesus - and my realization and confession and "repentance" (how often do I repeat the sins of the day - hour - before?), He forgives...

Because, again because of Jesus's sacrifice and suffering on my behalf, He "must..."

APPLICATION:

Pay attention to when I must forgive...

Seek forgiveness for when I fail to forgive...

Seek forgiveness for when I fail...

Be thankful for my forgiveness... because Jesus...

PRAYER:

Forgiving Father - Through Your Holy Spirit's leading and prompting, I confess to too often holding a grudge and too often failing to forgive even the slightest of slights - and none of them compare to my disobedience to Your Holiness and Your commandments... May I act on these moments by realizing some wrongs are unintentional or assumed, and that I am in the wrong for taking even the most minor thing to heart when I should hold Jesus to my heart in all things and at all times... Thank You for Him, for His teaching, for His example, for His sacrifice of Self and Will on my behalf... May I learn to forgive as He forgave, and as You do for me - all too often... In His Name, and for Your glory and honor and praise in all things...

As always, yours always, in all ways... because of and through Him...

A Final Thought

This coming Sunday is the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
