— Lets say Dazai went back and saved Sigma from Meursault. He’s taken back to the ADA, and after some time, becomes friends with all of the agency members. Sigma has been helping on missions as they still try to get /the/ book.

Sigma helps throughout it all, not yet a member of the agency. Finally, the book is in their grasps; but it’s undecided on what to do with it.

— Late one night Sigma is awake, writing in his journal, a note to all of the people who has helped him. Made him feel alive, made him happy, and helped him feel safe. He walks down the hall of the agency and towards /the/ book. Laying his journal there instead, he takes the book. Flipping through the pages seeing where he was born. Dazai walks in flipping on the light, observing Sigma, he says; “What’re you doing?”

“I’m going to help you guys…” Sigma replies quietly. Dazai thinks for a moment, his eyes widen. “Sigma- Don’t do anything reckless. Let’s just talk.”

Sigma turns to Dazai teary eyed, he pulls a lighter from his pocket. “I will save the agency, so you guys can continue saving others.” Sigma struggles to not cry. For once Dazai is speechless, as he starts to move towards him. Sigma

— Sigmas lighter is lit, and put to the bottom of the book as it starts to burn. “Sigma! Don’t- we don’t know what’ll happen to you!” Dazai tries to grab the book only for Sigma to twist out of the way. “I’m willing to risk it, for my friends, my family. You’ve all gave me a home.” Sigma chokes out as tears slide down his face, his body starting to almost fade away as if it was smoke itself.

— Dazai starts to panic, he couldn’t breathe, how can he help? What can he do? “Sigma no, you- I..” Dazai can’t even put his mix of thoughts into words.

— Sigma smiles at him, pulling his hand into his own, “Thank you Osamu, for saving me, and say thank you to Atsushi, and everyone else who’s made me feel whole.” One single tear drops off his chin, and with that, it’s as if he was never there, faded into the wind, as the book burns to ash. Dazai stands, slowly he drops to his knees and looks at the pile of ash on the ground. With the sacrifice Sigma had given, he was an official agency member now. ✯ End
