Lupin III VS Cat's Eye was pretty fun...TBH any Lupin story is pretty fun though so I wasn’t surprised.
The 3D animation has some moments where it looks kinda shoddy, but other wise it was fine. I liked the story and it was fun to watch these two series crossover.
I do have one tiny nitpick, and it’s that I wish the Cat’s Eye’s suits were more like the old series leotards and less like the cool ninja outfits, but that is only because it is supposed to be set during when the original cats eye anime ran.
the suits from City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes would have worked, but the ninja suits like i said before were cool so this is just a miniscule complaint i have lol.
Set in the world created by Tsukasa Hojo, the manga first released in 1981, then got its anime adaptation in 1983.
Follows the adventures of the kisugi sisters, Hitomi, Ai and Rui kisugi; three beautiful sisters running a Cafe called the Cat's Eye, but live the double life as the highly skilled and mysterious art thieves only known as Cat's Eye !
(Cat's eyes calling card)
The sisters are after the art work of Michael Heinz, a famous art collector from the Second World War and long missing father of the kisugis. Determined to find their fathers missing collection which hold clues that could unravel the disappearance of their father.
The girls will meet colorful characters and fight shadowy villans all while trying to stay two steps ahead of the determined yet clumsy detective Toshio Utsumi, high-school sweetheart and fiance to Hitomi Kisugi.

Just wanted to make a simple introduction for people unfamiliar with the Cat's eye but are looking forward to the lupin vs Cat's Eye crossover !
When I saw the trailer I initially didn't like his design. But now...I think he looks cool
And the fact that his eyes are pink 😍 and all the injuries he received in the final act is just 😔👌🏻💖💖 I love when characters reach their limits but still keep fighting (specially with this gang)
I have now watched Lupin III VS Cat's Eye. Read of my thoughts.
It was fun! I had a good time!
I was cautiously optimistic leading up to the release and then much more excited when I read other people's reactions to it. I really enjoyed it myself!
(more spoilery points under the cut)
The animation... is what it is. It definitely looked better in some scenes than others but on the whole I didn't think it was too bad. I do have to wonder what their budget for this one was though.
There's a flashback sequence in this movie that uses 2D stills and I wish the whole movie looked like it
Apparently for the music they reused a lot of tracks from Parts 4 and 5 and I could really tell. I'm not gonna fault them for that though cause we're still not sure what Yuji Ohno's health status is. Besides, the music is really good, so I'm not complaining.
The new version of the Cat's Eye theme they played over the credits was great too! I love that song 😊
lupin honey how are you still alive after all that holy shit
Dude should've died like three times in this movie
At least there were lasting ramifications this time! The whole "him having impaired vision" thing was really interesting
Lupin's friendship with Ai was really adorable. From the promotional stuff I was expecting a lot more scenes between him and Hitomi but they might've just been together on the poster cause Hitomi's the leader.
TOSHIO AND ZENIGATA BONDING YES YES YES THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED THANK YOU TMS (even though they kinda did fuck all in the movie itself)
Same with Fujiko! I was hoping there'd be more scenes between her and the Cats but nope!
can someone please explain to me why zantetsuken broke at the end like whyyyyyyy
This is very much Lupin's story; the rest of the cast are just kinda there (same with Ai on the Cat's Eye front). I did like that they established a connection between Lupin and the Cats' dad though. Wasn't expecting that!
(Was their mom ever mentioned in the series? I'm only up to episode 8 as I'm writing this)
TOTALLY called the art dealer dude betraying them
why is it always nazis with you people
I swear the last two movies in this franchise have both involved Nazis can we please go one movie without the bad guys being Nazis goddammit
I watched this movie dubbed and it was... awkward. I mean, the voices themselves were fine (hell, it's the Epcar cast) but I just don't think they matched with the animation very well. Maybe it's cause of the direction, maybe it's the lipsync being REALLY off, I don't know. Definitely wanna rewatch it subbed at some point.
The voices for the Cats were great though! Cristina Vee is always a welcome addition and Deneen Melody and Alicyn Packard were great too!
All in all I had a great time with this one! If you can get past the animation this is a really entertaining movie. And now to wait for it to never get a Blu-ray release because Amazon is the worst!
In celebration the 50th anniversary of Lupin III and the 40th anniversary of Cat's Eye, our favorite master thief Lupin III by Monkey Punch goes head-to-head with our favorite art-thieving trio of the Kisugi sisters - Hitomi, Rui and Ai - from the anime/manga series by the creator that brought you City Hunter, Tsukasa Hojo!
Lupin went toe-to-toe with Detective Conan Edogawa from Case Closed, another anime/manga series produced by TMS, in their two respective crossovers
The Kisugi sisters from Cat's Eye appeared in City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes
The crossover may take place in 1980s, the time when Cat's Eye first aired, while Lupin dons his pink jacket from Part III

The movie turned out better than i hoped, it's a fun reintroduction of cat's eye but now with lupin being involved a lot more in the cats storyline.
the writing was good.
Dennis Kirchmann was a good villan but the twist was predictable.
the soundtrack was great to listen to especially the music for cats eye.
Chemistry between lupin and the girls was great.
We finally get more goemon but less fujiko.
ITS A DAMM SHAME ABOUT THE CG ANIMATION because there were plenty of moments where the animation was awkward to look at.
Aside from the awkward animation, the movie is a fun action packed heist flick that Fans of both franchises will like and a fun introduction to both for new viewers. It's a recommended watch if you can get passed some of the C.G.
