I find it odd how many people seem to find it strange Luz's palisman has "main character energy" like Luz isn't the main character. Like, yeah. Her palisman will have main character energy. She IS the main character. I know the Fandom and the show sometimes forgets that, but she is. Of course her palisman would have its own abilities, she's the damn main character of the show. It'd be weird if hers wasn't unique in some way.

"Well no one else's palisman can shapeshift". True, but no one else's palisman was hatched from an egg. I'd say Luz's palisman is probably very different from a normal one because of that. If anything, Luz's palisman beingg very different from a regular one makes sense because she created it in a way that was drastically different from the usual method. It's like her magic. It's done in a different way than everyone else. Also, Bump's palisman turns into a hat that fixes his vision, and no one finds that odd. Maybe palisman just have certain abilities depending on what their owner or creator NEEDS them to have.

Honestly, this really gets me because. Just in a meta sense, Luz is such an important, different protagonist, and it’s not just me-- I’ve seen so many other viewers see themselves in Luz, see their childhood and their troubles, their history with being bullied, their ADHD and their queerness and their determination and their softness. She’s something special, and we love her and we understand her because she understands us, she is us in a way we don’t usually see.

And that’s a hell of a thing.

So Luz's palisman is definitely gonna be a snake, right?

Something I haven't seen anyone bring up about Luz's palisman that'd also unique about it besides the shapeshifting? Stringbean FLOATS.

Now, you might say "what's unique about that?" Well, every other Palisman we've seen in the show doesn't appear to have the ability to float or levitate by themselves. Usually, when a palisman moves, they have to do so in the same way the animal they're based on does. If they're a bird, they fly by flapping their wings, if their a land animal, they run on their legs. So, by that logic, Stringbean SHOULD slither along the ground like a snake. But no, Stringbean levitates and flies through the air like a dratini. It's just another thing that really makes her such a unique palisman.

Sequel to this

For people who don't know Pokémon, Mewtwo isn't a naturally occurring pokémon, he's a clone! He was created from another pokémon's dna to be used as a weapon---I think Hunter and Vee would would relate.

Hunter and Vee are sobbing. Amity leans in to Luz to whisper, "Are they gonna be alright?" Luz says, "Maybe this was a bad idea.]

I love how, when they're guessing what animal Stringbean is going to be, they all kinda guess an animal that they like or associate with Luz, right?

Like, Amity says "otter".

Willow says "spooky bat" (so real of her, I love her)

Hunter says "bird" (which hurt my feelings!! fucking ow!!)

The only thing that doesn't really work is that Camila says "dragon" and Gus says "snake". it should probably be the other way around.

Like, because Camila had all that snake imagery next to her in Thanks to Them and, like, I know dinosaurs and dragons aren't the same thing but they're super similar and Gus had lots of dinosaur imagery in Thanks to Them.

But anyway.
