When ALEXANDER THE GREAT died he left a power vacuum in the Empire that the King of Macedonia had conquered. PERDICAS, one of his friends and trusted man, assumed power as Regent of the Kingdom and as his main successor. A historical period of great turbulence began, known as the Diadic Wars, in which all the generals wanted to share the empire among themselves. Perdiccas settled in Babylon and was later assassinated by his own soldiers and companions. Painting by the artist Ernest Descals with watercolors on 50 x 70 cm paper, an expression of doubt about the importance of the challenge assumed. I want to make the suggested portraits of those characters of whom there is not much documentation.

“To The Critics Suicide has made more than one mediocre author glorious before he's able to achieve that sobering "second edition" making his a suicide that waits until it's justified. But I've taken more precautions against to Suicide which is to survive in the face of failure. Success is mostly editing, that's what makes things nice. To edit is the other great Power; thus this novel started at age 30, continued at 50 and its 73, has finally achieve supremacy: a person of Good Taste as the third author and as a result the editor of all three. In the end I'll be the author of a letter to the critics a sort of "open letter" but for the living: suicide is not something you can edit out.”

"It is a novel which does not want to begin. Or, perhaps, it is really a novel which does not want to end. Then again, it is a novel which does not want to be a novel at all. It will not become its own future. And yet if a novel exists as its own museum, then the reader must in some way presume that it has once existed, in the past.
Here are some usual facts involving time. Macedonio Fernández was born in 1874; he died in 1952. He began this novel around 1925, and worked on it in five drafts until he died. And this novel was a machine to prove that none of these facts had any sense at all.
Yes: Macedonio Fernández's novel would like to refute the ordinary ideas of time. And this is complicated. This is an invention whose conclusions have not yet all been noted."
Adam Thirlwell, A Preface for Macedonio Fernández

SELEUCO was another of the generals of King Alexander the Great who participated in the Wars of the Diadochi, the successors of the king of Macedonia, between them they shared the great conquered empire, Seleucus kept almost all of Asia and settled in Babylon creating the Seleucid Empire and also the long Seleucid dynasty in Persia and Syria, here I have painted his portrait as the new Eastern Emperor, a tough man with clear aspirations for power that he maintained through a great decision. Painting with watercolors on paper of 70 x 50 centimeters, painting the characters of history that succeeded Alexander the Great after his death.

Cowbians for @drizzledrawings cowbians contest!
I'd actually been meanig to make some cowboy ocs! Story is still a WIP and I'll be working on them all more, but these are my concepts. I'll leave all the text under the cut, I hope y'all enjoy!
Lee:
After her father’s murder, she set out on her own young. She moved from town to town doing odd jobs for little money, barely surviving, and keeping her identity as a shifter hidden completely. Eventually she would mistakenly fall into crime, but lean into it when she realized the money was good. After a job gone wrong as a hired gun, she found herself in a small war between a gang of shifter hunters and shifters, on the side of the hunters. Never her intention, Lee attempts to aid the shifters and ends up injured and under the scrutiny of the hunters. She flees.
Faustyna:
Daughter of Polish immigrants, her family wanted nothing but a peaceful life. She however, refused to hide herself from the world and would soon have to leave her parents behind, both out of frustration and a desire to keep them safe from scrutiny. Faustyna would find herself among a small community of shifters, striving to live but causing trouble for hunters along the way. She even manages to track down and recruit a famous outlaw, a shifter from Mexico, Macedonio. He’d become a close friend and asset in protecting her newfound family. But one day that family is uprooted by hunters and a traitorous shifter girl, and she works to keep them together in the aftermath.
Macedonio:
Born into the life of an outlaw, he’s always been good at lying, stealing, and killing. Repeated injuries from his rough life would damage his shifting ability and often his animal features remain after shifting back, becoming infamous for it in Mexico. He travels North in hopes of starting fresh, but his looks would eventually get noticed. Thinking it was it for him when he was approached by a girl asking about his past, he’s pleasantly surprised when she offers community in exchange for help with their cause. Unfulfilled and feeling on borrowed time, he accepts and grows attached to them. It wouldn’t last though, and thanks to a rogue shifter, their community is torn apart.
The story:
In the aftermath of the incident, Lee finds herself among the community she’d broken, taken in by an older man. Despite protests from Faustyna, she is allowed to stay. Wracked by guilt, she sets out to atone for her actions, doing what she can to help them. This leading her, unknowingly, down the path her father was on long before her; seeking peace between shifters and humans. Despite the circumstances, Lee is elated to be around somewhat friendly faces. She’d been on her own nearly her whole life, too nervous to make any real connections. She learns more about shifters and hunters in general, having not met any before. Macedonio warms to her first, he understands having hurt people knowingly and otherwise. And soon Lee finds herself taken in by Faustyna and her fiery personality. Despite her desire to hate Lee, Faustyna finds herself charmed by her awkward jokes and driven nature. Lee grows into the community, finally feeling like she belongs, and it becomes her purpose to protect and fight for them; the hunters are still out there.
Random extras:
Lee stole her horse Lark from a drunk after he threw a bottle at her
Faustyna doesn’t have a horse, opting to use her animal form to get around
Lee’s father is a small legend in some shifter communities, known for making trouble for hunters and his unusually large fisher cat form. This remains unconnected to Lee, as she was too young to know
The scar on Lee's face is from Faustyna, when they first met in the shifter vs hunter fight
Faustyna lost two of her fingers to some sadistic hunters
Faustyna sends money and letters back to her family and hopes to make the world kinder before she sees them again

Do you know about Macedonio Melloni? He was an italian OG physicist but I am not going to talk about that. I'm about to tell you how the italian word for fruit salad ended up to be macedonia (yeah we allegdley named it after the historic region characterized by a blend of cultures and ethnicities) and the italian word for melon is you guessed it melone.
So you hear this guy's name and it literally souds like he is called Fruitsaladius Melons.
