Adjusting to life by the ocean was, per say, more difficult than you had imagined. Once part of the Omiticaya clan, the forest your what was thought to be forever home, you find yourself facing unfamiliar waves, and a completely different clan.

You weren't necessarily a sully yourself, but ever since you and Neteyam had met as little ones, you were always inseparable. Following the death of your family, Neteyam and the rest of his family brought it upon themselves to take you in as one of their own.

Not that Neteyam viewed you as much of a sister, though.

It had been around a week of trying to adjust to your new surroundings, and you were exhausted. Trying to learn new breathing techniques, learning to ride new creatures, swimming in the ocean, it really took a toll on your body. Not to mention Ao'nung and his friends giving the constant reminder that you didn't belong.

So, here you were, sitting awake on the beach past eclipse. Though the waves were different, they were oddly comforting, in a sense. When there wasn't anyone to judge, and nothing to learn, you found yourself just being able to relax, and enjoy your new surroundings.

However, it seemed you were so focused on the ocean you didn't realize a certain na'vi missing your presence. He'd known you far too long and well to not guess where you'd be wandering this time of night.

"y/n!" Your head snapped around towards the voice, a smile quickly making its way once you recognized it. "I thought i'd find you here." He chuckled, once he'd sat down next to you.

"Well, there's not really anywhere else you'd find me enjoying the views. See there's the beach, and then more of the beach...oh! And then I think more of the beach over there." You teased, nudging him with your shoulder.

"You smartass," he heartily rolled his eyes, ruffling your hair lightly. "Sorry for being concerned where my friend was," he continued, his tone softening. "I know you've been having a hard time with Ao'nung lately."

Sighing, you averted his eyes, fidgeting with your fingers that were oddly enough, more similar to Jakes than the boy next to you. One of the stupid reasons Ao'nung and his friend group decided to hold a grudge against you. "It's whatever. They just always have something to say, you know? My tail, it's useless. My arms, they're too weak. My fingers! There's too many! Demon blood! I don't know why they hate me so much." Your eyes turned glossy, and it seemed as if all of it was just coming out after bottling it up the past few days.

Sympathizing with your pain, and wanting to kick their sorry asses for making you feel this way, Neteyam threw an arm around you for comfort. "I know, I know. They're assholes. All of them. But if they can't see past an extra finger, they aren't worth it. So don't give it a second thought, okay?" He smiled reassuringly, rubbing a hand up and down your arm. "And don't focus on them right now, the beach is finally peaceful without their annoying voices."

Giggling at his attempt to make you feel better, you nodded. "You're right. I miss the forrest, but the sights here are amazing," you paused, looking at the ocean, admiring how the night sky is reflected off of it. "It's almost like we can see two skies, in a way."

The young boy hummed in agreement. He wouldn't have known any better though, because while you were staring at the stars and their reflections, his attention was elsewhere.

He was staring at stars, but the ones that twinkled in your eyes.

I’m very happy that people actually liked my picture book, it legit sends me away because it’s a personal project which took a ton of effort

Like fan arts, megadrawings, fan comics those are also mean a lot and made with love, but this project feels like showing a part of your soul

Answering the questions

I just love detailed stuff✨ Plus when you work on something for a long time, you can kinda think of something or subconsciously add even more visual details

Motivation comes from just a wish to finish something most of the time

When I work on big projects (that take months for example) I tend to go into 💪grind💪 state, where you just dedicate your entire time to making something

It a very interesting thing, because your life literally becomes this project for a few months, you wake up with a goal and make your day as productive as possible (after I finish something I can have a mini crisis, like wait this thing is over, wait I can do something different.. no I NEED A PURPOSE 💥💥💥 *aggressively starts yet another comic*)

Also I feel like uni played a major role in my productivity rate, bc you can have multiple projects in one semester and plus to that an assignment that just adds on every week

Imagine like inktober, but you decided to take 5 more prompt lists and every drawing you make is criticised by professor (so you need to make edits or redo your entire work)

This type of constant pressure just kinda makes you a different person in a way, at least it was my experience with it

And how much time (hehe don’t make me blush it’s not godly 👉👈), well entire life basically + almost 4 years of uni

Also wanted to say for people who are starting or just feel overwhelmed by other artists skills:

🫵Everyone starts with crappy pony drawings 🫵 (at least I did) (man if I ever find my first drawings I will show them)

The funniest thing is, I started drawing not because I wanted it to be good or to impress people

I just wanted a pony picture 💥 in a funky dress 💥💥 and my mum said “I’m tired of drawing horses for you, go do it yourself” 💥💥💥 and I did 💥‼️💥‼️💥💥

A lot of people chuckled at me bc the drawings were crappy, but I didn’t care 💥📣🗣️I’m the one holding a paper horse in a dress, not you 💥📣🗣️

So like, don’t sweat it, no art is bad – you put effort, you made it, it’s already worth attention and love

The idea of “good” is flawed and very vague anyway

The feeling of doubt is also normal, everyone has it time to time, without it we wouldn’t be able to improve

Hmmm. Let me think! I’m sure I’ll miss a lot of good ones, but some of the first to come to mind: 💪

Film: obviously LoTR. I think that was one of the category namers. Gladiator (historical fiction). V for Vendetta (speculative fiction). Mad Max Fury Road (apocalyptic sci-fi). Terminator, but mostly the original and Terminator Salvation, not every film in the series (sci-fi). Meet John Doe (contemporary fiction at the time, but to us, historical fiction). The Prince of Egypt (Abrahamic story). The Wind Rises (historical, tragic drama). Spider-Man 2 (superhero). The Sound of Music if you push it. Like the hopepunk is contained in almost exclusively Act 3 but shit is it a hell of an act (historical, musical).

Tv: 1: Unlimited Blade Works (modern fantasy/sci-if)—one of my favorite TV shows of all time, painful and beautiful, very hopepunk. Do not watch the movie watch the 2014 anime, and watch the OG Japanese audio with subs. The dub was hell. 2: Angel Beats! (Supernatural dram/tragedy/comedy) This is a very hard show—like lots of painfully sad moments, but very sweet and worth it. End is bittersweet, but good. I’ve only seen the English dub, but the dub is very quality. 3: Infinity Train [seasons 2 and 3] (sci-fi, cosmic horror). 4: Tomorrow (supernatural, K Drama) — really good, watching it right now, Doctor Who (all of Doctor 9 and 10 at least much of his run),

Books: Any Terry Pratchett, but Night Watch probably top ranking, or maybe Small Gods (fantasy). LoTR again. The Shining Company (historical fiction) (a lot of her books are). Good Omens (supernatural fiction). Revolution (historical fantasy). 

Games: Days Gone (zombie apocalypse, work of art), Persona 5 Royal (speculative fiction, also a work of art), Kingdom Hearts (at least some of them, fantasy), arguably S4 of TWDG (zombie apocalypse), Determinately either Wolf Among Us (fantasy) or DBH (sci-fi) by dent of being decision based branching games.

Podcast: Nightavle through Stexcorp arc at least. TAZ Balance (fantasy, d&d podcast). Hello from the Hallowoods (ongoing, supernatural horror).

Comic: Bronze Age X-Men especially, I’m a huge fan of. If you’re interested in some of the really good ideas and meta that came with X-Men but don’t do comics, the best adaptation I’ve seen yet is X-Men Evolution, and I think that’s available to stream (superhero, sci-fi, social justice). Bone (fantasy).

Music: The Trans Siberian Orchestra album Beethoven's Last Night (album, rock opera, historical fiction), Les Miserables (musical, historical fiction). 

It also depends on how broadly you define the genre. I think of anything fitting into “Antithesis of GrimDark. Stories where the world is cruel and unfair and brutal any maybe on a grand scale, unchangeable, but combatting that and living and loving is deeply precious and meaningful despite, or in some cases even more so, because of that.” Some people might categorize The Wind Rises, for example, as Historical, Drama, Tragedy, but not as Hope Punk. I would call it that though. I hope that the list is still a good one for you. If you want only the most true-blue Hope Punk, I could give you a shorter list too.

Sorry this took so long. I wanted a good list, and it was harder than I thought. I’m sure I still missed many I deeply love.

Damn! I missed a spot. Can't see the back of my dome. Asked a lady out for the first time in years. Is she down? Nope. Yeah I got feelings. Not like y'all don't know that by now though. So instead of getting down I just shaved it all off. Took a cold shower (because still no hot water) and now just chilling in bed thinking about more important things than hurt. Like how I'm going to build the wood deck on my trailer. And is there going to be any sand left to finish my garden patio. Some of you been with me this whole run on Instagram about 10 years? Facebook before that and MySpace before that. Y'all know I wasn't always this depressed. Y'all know it's never been this difficult for me to find a friend or a lady friend until I got to Kansas. So much hate born through Christianity here it makes me sick. Yep I'll die here being free of it and completely alone because of it. Nothing in my book that can do this to any human being of any decent is or can be worth true love. It's the frozen sheet of ice that devides true loving human beings from heartless mindless zombies controlled by brainwashing Bible mongers intent on breeding out any foreign form of true love. It's so sad. Yet tomorrow. I'll just make it another day. I'll be painting one of my favorite subjects. The American flag. It's always been a favorite of mine because of what it stands for, for me. And because I am American I am free to believe and enjoy my beliefs as how I see fit in my household. I will share those beliefs but I will not ask anyone not to associate with those that do not believe what I believe. It is not my place to. Not just because it's not my place to but because it's morally wrong. And I'm sure a Christian can go on about morals they themselves don't adhere to. I won't hear it from one preacher coming from man made churches. You'd think since my beliefs do not break any laws and because I'm a Proud American citizen that I'd be treated with love and open arm's. But not here.
