I better be seeing HUNDREDS of 1928s Mickey Mouse based writing, crafting and art published, released and Etsy-listed today, folks. And tag. Disney. Everywhere.
HOWEVER
Lawful chaotic time, folks. Don't get sued. Use your power wisely.

"It might be hard to believe that this video was taken today after 155 days of genocide and war and continuous death and bombing even though Gaza still astonishes me because every single day I walk to a new place I find places that are full of beauty and life, its like the land itself is resisting to be killed to be demolished and to be wiped from the planet earth, long live Palestine and for God’s sake ceasefirenow🇵🇸"

Ways to Solarpunk-up your neighborhood
The "punk" part of solarpunk is, of course, defying societal norms and governmental laws in the name of building a better future.
Isee a lot of great things happening, such as community gardens, climate protests and more and more people going vegetarian/vegan etc. I took a walk around my neighborhood yesterday to find things that I like about my town. I love to see people planting fruit trees in their garden. I love the little shops in their driveway/front yard with their harvested crops, homemade jam, fruit juice etc.
Public art
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this artist, who, every few weeks, puts up a new string art piece. It's weird and I doubt the local government likes it. I'm friends with the artist's neighbor, and she says that they want to "decorate the town with art". That's a pretty punk statement that I definitely can get behind. It certainly is fun to see what the artist has come up with every time I walk past.
Mini libraries
Tumblr media
Mini libraries can be found in every neighborhood. People place them in their front yard. This one has a little bench with it too. I love it so much. Access to free books, all day, everyday, almost everywhere. Tell me that isn't such a solarpunk initiative. They've sprouted up the last decade like weeds and I couldn't be happier.
Give & take cabinet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What's a better way to show your community you care about them than a give & take cabinet. Clothes, shoes dishes, menstrual items, shampoo and more. I'm planning on tidying up this cabinet soon and adding some stuff of my own. As someone who is pretty tight on money myself, I'm very happy to see a way I can get stuff I need if I'm in a pitch.
If you want you can give it a twist, you could consider making a tools library or a food cabinet as well.
Let's take care of each other and take care of our planet! We can build a kinder, better future if we tried. Love and Peace💚☮🌍

i get the appeal of nihilism, but there’s so much more joy to be found in violently and rebelliously choosing to LIVE in the face of meaninglessness

You know what? Solar punk or Eco Punk can be punk if you just make it a rebellion.
Showing me the finished Utopian green city is cool. It's beautiful and hopeful, but where's the grit? Where's the battle?
Show me the rebels who plant seeds in restricted areas, the man on the run for creating an engine that runs on water, show me the mad scientist who made a super fertilizer that neutralizes the effects of bleach in soil, the plant hacker who restores fertility to GMO crops, show me the grandma fiercely defending her produce of pirated tomato IP with geurilla tactics.

i live in a walkable ish city, for the first time in my life
i just paid $7.50 for a coffee
the price of coffee has gone up has increased so much over the years (bc of inflation i don’t even think this was a particularly expensive coffee), and it would be easy to just make it at home for a fraction of the cost…
But also… for $7.50 (which is a lot of money when you are disabled level broke) I was able to:
- Leave my house
- Get 15 ish minutes of feel good movement, walking and learning to navigate my local area
- Engage with 3-4 community members, not even trying to socialize, just ones i’ll likely bump into the times i go out; thus helping to establish my place in an unfamiliar environment
- Achieve the sense of fulfillment that comes with independently carrying out a desire, engaging with the world, and feeling autonomous and capable
I don’t even like coffee. This was not about the coffee.
i could have also walked to the grocery store and spent $1 on a bagel, and checked likely all the same boxes. today i just chose to try a coffee shop, but as a broke person i have to over analyze the cost of things, which led me to philosophizing over this in a way i wouldn’t have had to if it was only $1..
which led me to the conclusion, as always, that you cannot budget your way out of systemic poverty, and you’re not a bad poor person for spending a couple extra dollars on something premade from a cafe

Hannah Ritchie used to be convinced that she didn’t have a future to live for. Now, a new book by the myth-busting data expert and climate ‘solutionist’ shows how we can all replace the ‘deadweight’ of endless unsolvable problems with useful, urgent optimism Posters in hand, a 13-year-old Hannah Ritchie stood before classmates at Falkirk high school gloomily forecasting runaway global warming and rising oceans. This much of the planet would be flooded at two degrees, this much more at three degrees. The world was slipping into a watery abyss, she told them. Now 29 and a renowned environmental scientist, Ritchie’s work speaks to audiences of hundreds of thousands, and instead of being laden with doom it is radically hopeful. After diving deep into the data on some of the world’s most pressing problems, she’s surfaced as a rare, positive, fact-based voice. For the first time in humankind’s history, Ritchie argues, true sustainability is tantalisingly within reach.

Hot take but hope punk is just regular run of the mill punk. Punk is the world is fucked and let's claw our way to a better future anyhow in the face of it all. Hope is integral to punk. It's original flavor. And I love that about punk.

I love nights where my parents are away it's so freeing.
Last night I cleaned our street sign and repainted the letters because God knows the council weren't gonna do it and it was really faded.
Also cleared some of the grass from the path because while greenery is great I don't think wheelchairs could easily use it and accessibility is important, planning on finishing that tonight.
Also back in 2020 some kids painted a big stone, most of that's washed off now other than the base layer of blue so going to paint some flowers on that in a sec.
Hopefully gonna wash the mailbox as well and basically I just want to make things a bit more cheerful, unfortunately none of my seed scattering from last month seems to of worked but this I can immediately see the effects of.
And just listening to random songs and making my own food with whatever I manage to find in the fridge without having to take into account how picky my mum and brother can be.
Love it.
