My first impression well, when he was first mentioned by name, I was thinking "oh he´s gonna absolutely smite me, isn´t he?" then, when first meeting him and going through the boss battle I was just very sad, because he really doesn´t want to hurt me but he doesn´t see any other way and (UUUUGH MY HEART ;;_;;)

My impression now he is a baby who needs love and support as well as tea and a long nap (also some therapy would be grand)

Favorite thing about that character he´s just such a calm and sweet man- I would accept his tea invitations any day and he probably gives the absolute best hugs

Least favorite thing honestly I have nothing? I mean- I guess the whole "killing a total of six children" thing was a bit outta line asdfghj honestly tho, that man just needed someone to LISTEN and he needed some grief counseling

Favorite line/scene "human..its was..nice to meet you...goodbye." that is SO powerful and epic and I am getting goosebumps every single time!!

Favorite interaction that character has with another Asgore off screen telling Alphys about that little teacup he found that looks like her is so wholesome and good (granted, that info was given during a quite stressful part of the game, but still!)

A character that I wish that character would interact with more I want more of him and Alphys!! those two are very cute together ;w;

Keep in mind, not all of these characters would speak in the same tone as the characters I referenced, but the voice they used would be ideal. (Imagine Grell as a celebrity. Seriously.) And this is my personal opinion.

Here is my justification for these voices: Frisk: Tara can do boy and girl voices, so I’m sure she could do an androgynous child Flowey: If you’ve heard Tyson’s voice for Hifumi, it suits Flowey pretty well Toriel: Just listen to Galadriel talk and imagine her reading Toriel’s lines Sans: It’s fucking Vic Mignogna, he’s bound to be in the cast somewhere. Plus, I think he’d do Sans a justice. Papyrus: I seriously didn’t want to stay on the “Papyrus sounds like Skeletor” bandwagon, and Jack did a good job with Paps’s voice, so. Undyne: I have a hard time finding tomboy voices that I like... So I went with my crush. Alphys: The voice Carli did for Touko, but pitched a tad higher is basically what I hear whenever I read Alphys anyway. Mettaton: Grell Sutcliffe. As a celebrity. Same sass. It’s Mettaton. Asgore: Same justification as Toriel. Just listen to Mufasa and imagine him saying Asgore’s lines. You’ll hear it. Asriel (Young): Okay, I know I’m picking a lot of voices from the Danganronpa series. But if you listen to Jataro and add a bit more confidence... Asriel (Older): Kind of a heavy authority, but a younger-ish voice. If done right. Chara: Just have Tara do Frisk’s voice pitched down a notch.

I shouldn’t have to justify myself, but meh.

Behold, ladies and germs- my one and only Deltarune fancharacter, Astaroth Dreemurr! As rendered by my good buddy, @fini-mun !

So, who is this guy, you might ask? He’s none other than Asgore’s brother, and uncle to Kris to Asriel. I was inspired to make him by a bit of Undertale fanart I saw years ago, one that re-created the ‘Before sunrise he’s YOUR son’ bit from Lion King, replacing Mufasa, Sarabi and Simba with Asgore, Toriel and Asriel. I was dwelling on that bit of old art, and mused as to what a Dreemurr answer to ‘Scar’ might be, and thus- Astaroth. He’s not actually evil, but he’s definitely a VERY different creature to his brother and the rest of the Dreemurr family. 

Some notes about Astaroth-

-Astaroth is cynical, sarcastic and very blunt, and has a very, very low threshold for nonsense. When he was younger he was sometimes called ‘The Meaner Dreemurr’ back in Hometown. 

-Astaroth kinda sorta hated Hometown. He left it for a big city as soon as he was able, and never looked back.

-He’s a tax auditor. A ruthless one at that.  

-He speaks with a refined accent that he wasn’t born with- once he started making real money he hired a speech therapist to cover up his original, ‘townie’ accent (he souns like Kelsey Grammar, AKA Sideshow Bob). When he’s alone with Asgore though, he slips back into it. 

-Despite being Asgore’s younger brother, he looks older due to his poor health. Much of which can be attributed to him being a chain smoker. 

-He absolutely does not get along with Toriel. Even before the divorce he and she only tolerated each other for Asgore’s sake, but since their separation Astaroth openly despises her. There is no facet of her being he can’t find fault with. 

-He was against Kris’ adoption from the beginning, believing that raising a human isolated from others of their kind would cause them to develop emotional issues later in life. He see’s Kris’ current behavior as vindication of that belief. Privately he even suspects that one day Kris will wind up in the news as Hometown’s first school shooter. It’s a pity he’s so wary of Kris, as he has a lot more in common with them than he’d like to admit... including a rather intense love of chocolate. 

-Currently in the process of trying to convince his brother to leave Hometown and start anew. 

-His Undertale counterpart died some time before Asriel was born. Either in the Monster-Human war or an unrelated accident later one. Either way, he be dead in Undertale.
