My new ship obsession is from a novel(s)

And they are a secondary OTP to boot and their own book is not out yet (and it better be with them as endgame or I am gonna lose my mind, if they will have other endgame(s)).

So what am I talking about?

She's Andraste, her evil fae queen's mother's favorite daughter - a general who does whatever her mad mother orders to even though she hates it; she's had to betray her own sister (though she tries to help as much as she could) and do all sorts of atrocities. Mommy is evil so occasionally she throws her into a dungeon for torture kicks anyway. And occasionally she cuts herself to feel something, anything.

He's Edain, her stepbrother and her mother's sex toy/assassin. Yeah, mull on that combo. Basically she married his dad for some political reason, murdered the man and forced the son into her bed at the threat of his life. She's also bound him by truth oath so he can't lie to her and occasionally orders him to assassinate her enemies.

He's totally fallen madly for her but of course it can't be for 8 million reasons. And she just thinks he hates her and/or wants to fool around. Which they almost do until he's all "no thanks I am not gonna be instrument of your self-loathing."

At the end of Book 2, evil mom finds out Andraste saved her sister (who is the FL of trilogy and totally fine, her story is pretty A+ tho not as much my bag as this mess) AND finds out her sex toy is in love with her, so she sends her daughter off to be married off to a goblin king (or murdered there or w/e, she does not care) and puts a curse on stepbro that he will never be able to touch another person.

Come on, you know me, you know this has my name all over it.

I mean...

Book series is by Bec Macmaster and I have NO idea when their book will come out (and it will be better theirs, if she ends up with goblin king, I will be PISSED) and that is the problem with being invested in ongoing book series...

PS I do tend to love all her stuff, it's full of angst and whump!

Oh geez, I gotta think of three?!? Okey dokes. Here goes.

My brain refuses to believe that I am actually at Mass( church for Catholics, to all the protestants out there), unless I am attending in a language other than English. I've attended Masses in French( my mother tongue), Polish, Latin, and Ukrainian. All great. In English? My brain thinks I'm pulling a practical joke.

I read The Silmarillion when I was 13 and I considered it, at the time, one of the funnest books I'd ever read.

If I was only allowed to listen to 3 artists' music for the rest of my life they would be( outing myself as a canadian here) ; Natalie MacMaster, Loreena Mckennitt and David Bowie. No ifs, no ands, no my-mind-will-change-in-a-few-months. Those three are the defining pinnacle of music for me. 'Nuff said.

Are you familiar with Natalie MacMaster? She's one of my favorite fiddlers :D

I am, and I love her! One of the few CDs that I personally owned growing up had a track with her on it that I listened to over and over, and one of the saddest days of my life was when the CD got scratched and the track was messed up. Now I can listen to it on spotify though, so all is well lol

She's actually gonna be in concert near me in March, and I really want to go!

The Three-Legged Monster of Loch Hourn

To this day the folks residing about Loch Hourn believe that loch to be haunted by a monster, to which they refer as the Wild Beast of Barrisdale. Less than sixty vears ago, by the shores of Loch Hourn, a crofter who once encountered this monster. He assured his neighbours that this ungainly creature had gigantic wings, and was three-legged. He often saw it in flight across the hills of Knoydart, especially about Barrisdale itself ; and he averred that on one occasion, when it was making for him with evil design, he rushed for the shelter of his cottage. As the crofter himself used to relate up until the time of his death, he just succeeded in slamming the door in the monster's face. The dwellers by the more remote shores of Loch Hourn frequently heard the terrifying roar of the Wild Beast of Barrisdale ; and an old man living in this locality, called Ranald MacMaster, ofttimes discovered the tracks of this three-legged creature on the hills, and also about the sandy stretches fringing Barrisdale Bay.

Scottish scientist and inventor Alan MacMasters was born on 20th March 1865.

In the Autumn of 1883, Alan MacMasters began his study at the University of Edinburgh within the Department of Natural Philosophy (today the faculties of Physics, Science and Engineering)

MacMasters would go on to research and develop an innovative new lighting system to brighten the dimly lit carriages while working on the development of Glasgow Underground, it was this work that became the basis for the invention he is best known for.

In 1893, MacMasters contacted the esteemed English electrical engineer R.E.B. Crompton with an idea, he had developed a machine which could toast bread using iron wires. MacMasters’ design saw bread sit on a rack while electrical current passed through the wires, heating them and toasting the bread. Crompton liked the idea, and the machine, dubbed the Eclipse, went into production as the world’s first electric toaster.

However, the design was not without its problems. Hot iron had a tendency to melt, and red-hot melted iron had a tendency to set nearby items ablaze. There was only one heating element in the device, so users would have to manually turn their bread in the face of the iron wiring, and electricity was far from widespread, which meant adoption of the invention was low.

American companies soon began to develop the idea further, swapping iron for more stable metals and refining the design of their devices, until the first truly modern toaster was created by Charles Strite in the early 1920’s, all from an idea by Oor Alan 30 years or so before.

He also sold the idea of the electric kettle at the same time to Crompton alongside the toaster, while it used largely the same technology, the element was held in a separate chamber.
