Baker!Reader x Steve Harrington
wc: 673
Tumblr media
It was a slow day in the only bakery in Hawkins, Indiana. The display was lined with every baked good imaginable, yet they stood untouched.
“I’m actually going to die of boredom.” You announce to yourself, adjusting the tray of macarons for what felt like the hundredth time. You sneak one into your mouth as you do so. It’s the least you can get after spending so long perfecting this finicky cookie only for no one to come to your store.
Really, you should have anticipated this when you made the decision to open a bakery in the small town your grandmother lives in, next to a video store was far more interesting to most people. But you made enough to pull through every month so at least there was that.
“Excuse me?” Came a voice from the door. You snap up, locking eyes with the prettiest boy you’ve ever seen.
“Hi! How-how can I help you?” Nerves bubble in your stomach. Very rarely did boys your age come into this store, and they were never this cute.
“Could I buy some of these chocolate cupcakes? My friend has a crazy sweet tooth and I’m returning a favour.” He grins at you, like this is some inside joke between us and it makes you grin right back.
“Of course! Would you like 6 or 12?” He points to the six box and you nod, starting to carefully package the cakes.
“This is a really cool store…you know, I work at the Family Video next door and I would love to arrange a trade.” His smile is cheesy but it makes your heart flutter regardless.
“A trade huh? So for every donut I get a free movie?”
“Of cou-wait you have donuts?”
You laugh as he double takes the display, discovering the donut section very quickly.
“Wow you really do everything huh?” He’s still smiling as he takes the box, pulling his wallet out to pay.
“Oh, don’t worry about it. This one is on me.” His smile slips into a confused frown, bills still in his hand.
“No I can’t do that.” He tries to hand the money over but you shake your head.
“Really, don’t worry about it. Just get me back with a movie. And it better be good.” You smile and the sweet sweet smile finally returns to his face.
“Alright…” He takes the box, thanking you one more time before leaving. The second he’s out of sight, you practically melt.
“I’m so screwed.”
Apparently, this town has developed a raving sweet tooth that seems to only be cured in your store. It started slowly, with these freshman starting to trickle in every couple of days, desperate for a donut or cupcake. Then it evolved to some teenagers, who seemed to thoroughly enjoy the croissants and beignets. Now, even middle aged parents come in, ordering birthday cakes and picking up cake pops for their small children.
“You have my movie?” You beam at Steve as he steps through the door. He holds up a movie titled ‘Risky Business’
“Of course! So what are you gonna trade me this time?” His fingers tap against the counter as you pull out a container labeled ‘chocolate chip cookie dough’. After reading it, he smiles quizzically.
“Last I checked, you aren’t supposed to eat it like that.”
“No you’re not. But I figured we could…bake it together.” Your heart rises to your throat as you wait for his reaction.
“So movie and baking night? I’ve gotta say…that was way better then what I had planned.” Steve takes the container, letting his hands linger near yours.
“It’s a date.” You announce, nerves dissipating with every second.
“It better be. I don’t think my doctor would appreciate how many donuts I’ve been eating just so I have an excuse to talk to you.”
“To tell you the truth…you have terrible taste in movies.”
“…What?!”

"i want you to be obsessed with me."
cw enemies to lovers kinda thing, fluff, flirting characters scaramouche/reader a/n CREDITS TO @beomgyuismybbg FOR THIS HEADCANON IDEA!!!!
Tumblr media
There lays a box of your favourite macarons on your desk.
You stop at your desk when you notice it's your favourite, and look around the classroom. You notice some of the boys chuckling, and the girls glaring at you.
Your eyes land on Scaramouche, but he's just playing on his phone.
You take the box, and put it into your bag, not wanting to waste it, even though it's your favourite.
Your friend sit around your desk, giggling.
"So, who gave it?" You ask, already fed up.
"You wouldn't believe even if we told you," Lumine says, winking at you.
You frown at her comment, wondering who it could be.
The day continues on. Time to time, some of the boys ask you, who do you think gave the macarons, but you just ignore them until they went away, disappointed.
You catch Scaramouche staring at you. When you look back at him, he gives you a disgusted look, looking up and down at you, before turning away and going back to what he was doing.
Finally it's lunch, and you have an idea of who gave it to you. The only people who know your favourite brand of macarons, is your friends and.. Scaramouche.
You enter the library, saying hi to the librarian. (You two know each other, as you come to the library way too often)
You find Scaramouche as his usual spot in the quiet area.
You stand near the bookshelf, waiting for him to look up, and when he finally does, he smirks to find you, waiting for him.
With a small gesture of a head, he stands up and follows you to a small area in the library.
"What was all that? Why give me the box of macarons?" You ask, crossing your arms.
He leans on the wall, looking up at the ceiling, looking like he's thinking.
"What do you think giving a girl a box of chocolate means?"
You're caught off from his question, but you answer. "That you like her."
"Then giving a box of macarons, to a girl who loves macarons? What does that mean?" He finally looks at you, and his eyes are.. more different than usual.
You glare at him, before quietly answering.
"That.. you like the girl."
He gets off from the wall, and walks over to you. You wait, standing there, wondering what kind of idiotic thing he's going to do to you this time.
He just a few centimetres away from you, when he puts his arm on the shelf above your head, and leans in to your ear.
He whispers,
"Exactly Y/N."
You freeze, your face furiously pink.
Scaramouche smirks, seeing how pink your face is.
"I want you to be obsessed with me."
"That you can't get me out of your mind, no matter what you're doing."
Scaramouche gets his hand off from the shelf, and stands up. He chuckles at your face.
You turn even more flustered hearing his chuckle.
"What? You want me that badly?" You cross your arms, grinning.
His eyes widen, surprised by the sudden flirting.
"What are you going to do about it?"
He lifts your chin, staring into your eyes.
"This."
Before you can even wonder what he meant by 'this', he leans forward, and kisses you. His lips feel so soft against yours.
He backs out from the kiss, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
You stare at his eyes, but quickly look away when you realise that you actually might be falling for him.
You slap his hand away, and quickly walk out of the library.
You can feel his eyes follow you as you walk away.

🎄The blue ribbon
Happy December to all! ⭐
Happy holidays, well-earned rest and good time to fantasize about some nice KNB boys.
Since it is now a tradition of mine, I'm gonna open this series with my favourite demon Daiki, who needs your help to step out of the Grinch's shoes.
❄Oh, it'll be a fun task, you'll see! ❄
Raising my glass to you! 🥂
with love, V. 💝

"Hate, hate, hate.
Double hate.
Loathe entirely! " you mimic him, assuming his own intimidating stance.
Arms folded, feet firmly planted on the ground and a sinister pout painted on his face. Your personal Grinch shrugs his shoulders, gives you a sharp look only to remind you that the idea of wasting Christmas Eve afternoon in a crowded mall to carry out the foolish purpose of giving Momoi her favourite French macaron in the limited-edition box, was yours.
"Always spoiling Satsuki! " he grumbles, shoving his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans.
"I'm just trying to show her some love , since she's the one who puts up with all your team tantrums!" you smile cheerfully, turning your gaze to a toy store window where it has suddenly started snowing.
Few people in the world love Christmas as much as you do: the sound of the bells, the lights, that warm and bright atmosphere that still makes you believe in people's goodwill. Daiki, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. He doesn't care about presents, decorations, pyjama parties with friends or gingerbread cookies. Snow has no effect on him, nor do the lights or the tall Christmas tree he helped you decorate, after a shower of threats and pleas. The same tree that remains alone, unlit, ignored all day long in the dark, dreary isolation of his apartment. He had even forbidden you to give him any kind of gift, making it clear that all you would get for Christmas would be a take-out dinner in his apartment, because "He was not an idiot who has to follow social norms" but he still wanted to celebrate by doing something special, first and foremost for you.
"What a hassle!" he snorts, putting one foot in front of the other to follow the slow line leading to the bakery.
"I thought you liked me!" you mock him again, moving a little closer to rest your forehead on his chest, silently asking for a caress that is not long in coming. "I like you to bits, what I can't stand is all that Christmas crap!" he sighs, pulling you a little closer, heedless of the puzzled looks of the other people standing in line. "You are the Grinch, indeed!" you smile, earning an amused look.
"Not to brag, but I'm much cooler!" he replies, inspecting your expression with his incredible eyes, smiling playfully now that he has every intention of shushing you with a long kiss.
Too bad someone else needs his attention. A male face appears before your eyes, a grown man you can't put a name to. A few minutes later, and actually throughout the afternoon, you listen to your boyfriend talk to his former high school coach, a man who is charming and distinguished, but also terribly curious.
"What's his name, again?" you ask, later that evening, as you finish tightening the golden ribbon around the beautiful red tin box in which Momoi's pastries lie, diverting the young man's attention from the refrigerator.
"Who, Harasawa?" he asks as he walks over to you and picks up the card for his childhood friend, twirls it between his fingers, and stops to sign it quickly.
"Crushing on my ex-coach, babe ?" he laughs, seeking your gaze.
You shake your head walking near him, leaning on his arm to whisper behind his shoulders "Mr. Harasawa owes me. I've been waiting for a kiss since this afternoon, and it's almost bedtime. He owes me all those missed kisses" you emphasise, slipping out of his sight with a caress and disappearing into the darkness of the living room, where he admires you standing still in front of the tree, contemplating lights and decorations.
Then you plug the lights it in and turn it on, making it the brightest object of the whole room.
He slowly catches up with you, with that lazy but incredibly attractive walk of his, and stops at your side to watch the tree lights playing on your lovely face.
"Have I been unbearable today?" he asks, smiling as soon as you turn your eyes toward him.
"Not at all" you reply softly, slipping under his arms to let him cradle you, enjoying the slow caress of his fingers in your hair, the peace of his slow breathing, the absolute well-being his presence generates in you. Snuggled in his arms, you let yourself be lulled by his voice.
"I was wondering...Do you think you could convey some Christmas spirit to the Grinch himself?" he asks you seriously, smiling in delight at your startled reaction when you feel his muscles tighten against your body.
"Quoting a wise man. If I give up, there will definitely be nothing" you state, poking his ego with one of the references with which also Tetsu often teases him.
"Mischievous Santa's helper likes to get into trouble, huh? Fine!" he bites back, running his long fingers under your collarbones, gently grazing your round breasts until he reaches and squeezes your waist, pressing searing kisses between the hollow of your shoulder and your neck, making your knees weak, and your senses wildly alive.
You rise on tiptoe, caress his neck to bring his lips closer to yours, let him move his hands all along your back, tilt your face to allow him to explore deeper, pressing your soft body against his own, looking at him briefly as you catch your breath.
" Sweetheart, you're getting me so many thoughts..." he smirks on your lips "but no good one about Christmas, damn it!" his deep voice keeps teasing, tingling every sensitive spot in your body.
"That's because ... You're so wicked that you need many more kisses, you Grinch!" you reply, biting his lip to seal the best deal ever.
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?

you meet satoru again by chance in paris after several lonely years apart, looking as gorgeous as you remember. perhaps even more so; he's wide-shouldered with well made clothes that fit him too well and white hair styled the way he does for business. you run into him in a patisserie famous for their macarons, which really shouldn't surprise you. after the initial—and heartbreaking—shock of being so near him again, he holds up his pastry box and jerks a thumb behind him, asking if you'd like to catch up.
it's there in a cute little street cafe that you realize it's both of your last day in paris—he's taking a night train to rome and you have a flight to catch at midnight. he boldly proposes you spend the day together, despite the fact that you both agreed never to speak again.
"our reality doesn't exist here," satoru shrugs with a boyish grin, popping red macaron into his mouth. there’s a little red crumb at the corner of his lip, and you curl your fingers into your napkin to avoid reaching over and thumbing it clean. the way you did so many times before. “everything that happened is back there, back home. it's just you and i here, lollipop. whaddya say?"
he brings his sunglasses down the bridge of his nose to meet your eyes, and you've never been able to say no him and his morning star eyes so, you spend the day in paris; walking and talking about anything and everything as you do all the things the tourists sites never mentioned. satoru shows you the city the way a local does, the hidden little parks and gardens and rooftops where you lay back and watch the blue sky bleed into a hazy orange. you fall in love once again but neither of you voice it.
when the moon is out and gleaming above the Eiffel Tower, you two say goodbye once more and leave little pieces of your hearts and soul in the city of love.

Dame Violette, Part One
This may look familiar! The old versions of this story will be taken down soon. I feel comfortable enough now to restart it, especially in light of that Season 5 finale.
-
Hi, my name is Marinette! I'm just a normal girl who lives with her two baker parents in Paris. There's nothing special about me, nope, nosiree.
...Unless you count the weird psychic visions I get. I mean that has to be normal, right?
They're like “mental shocks”. To be honest I'm not really sure why they happen or how they come to me, or even if I'm the only one who gets them. Maybe others do as well and no one wants to share it with the world? But that seems unlikely. The shocks seem to be steering me in life, hopefully away from bad things though I never know for sure. Like a shock I got when considering fashion as a career choice, which led to some weird visions of a blonde-haired woman yelling about how something wasn't exceptional and about a man who looked old and stern, how the world of fashion seemed very competitive and not easy to get to the top of, at least not without losing parts of yourself along the way. Because of that I figured maybe engineering would be better for me, I seem to have a knack for designing neat things, like diaries with unique locks. I still make clothes occasionally! But they're more for myself or my close friends.
Another shock came when the first class representative elections came up. I thought about running, but memories of a girl who seemed to be overrun with responsibilities for her classmates filled my mind, along with a figure who took advantage who looked very, very similar to Madame Bustier, my homeroom teacher. Because of that it led me to always sit at the back of the class rather than anywhere near the front, not wanting to be noticed. Someone else can take that particular burden. There are only two other people who knows about me having such thoughts...having met them both through shocks, I figured they'd understand it if I explained the whole thing outright. Considering how well read one of them is I had hoped maybe she could have had a rational explanation but she just laughed and said it was probably some kind of “gut magic”. The other simply said it was “Awesome”. I might have been offended but they both wholeheartedly believed me. I don't know why a person believing in me feels so...important, but it does. Like I know my parents do but having someone else besides them is great. I have just this small group of two best friends, and that's more than enough for me. Having too many would be spreading myself thin and my downtime is important; I hate being run off my feet. Plus quality is better over quantity, and both of these girls are quality without a doubt. We might as well be sisters now for how entangled our lives have become.
- In a schoolyard, a five-year old Marinette looks around anxiously. It's a brand-new school to her, what with the move her mama and papa had done to a new and larger bakery, and she had to leave behind the friends she made in the previous year. Her papa however had done what he always did, and set her up with a box of macarons for her first day. “Just be yourself, offer one to a classmate. You're going to be fine, my sweet.” But there was a sinking feeling in her stomach. Marinette was expecting something to come her way, something horrible. Something brash. But little did she know, that on the other side of Paris, a decision was made to send a blonde girl of similar age to a private school, along with a boy of a prominent fashion mogul. It was over the objections of her father, a councilman who was hoping to rise to the position of mayor. “It's out of the question, Andre!”, shouted the mother. “She needs to learn what it takes with the right kind of teachers! Besides, this might seal the deal between ourselves and the Agrestes for marriage!” So, one fate was avoided. It was at this point Marinette felt the mental shock. A view into another universe, one were the blonde terror came to the school and immediately started to berate her as low-class, that her macarons were tasteless, and screaming for a young bespectacled red-haired girl to follow her during recess. It was said girl that Marinette saw near the entrance of the school, looking just as lost. The vision of the other universe fresh in her head, she walked over and opened up the box her father had provided. “Hi, my name is Marinette! Would you like a macaron?” The girl seemed to hesitate for a moment, almost as if she was questioning Marinette's motives and if this was, in fact, real. But then she looked down into the box, back towards her, and smiled. “I'm...Sabrina. It's nice to meet you! Um, do you have any strawberry ones?”
- We were inseparable from that day forward, best friends forevermore. Where would I be without Sabrina? Probably some stuttering mess. We each seemed to calm different parts of ourselves; her stopping my anxious “spirals” before they even start, and me encouraging her to stand up for herself. There's a strong mutual respect and understanding between us both; she's smart in the areas I'm not, and in turn I make up where she may falter. While I'm thankful for a lot of the “shocks” and their guidance, that one in particular has a special place in my heart as it gave two souls support and friendship. And two we were, until five years later a shock gave us our “missing” sister. -
Friendship Day. An annual scavenger hunt across all of Paris. Usually Sabrina and I don't participate, but a shock a few days ago convinced me to have us both take part this year. The celebrity we were supposed to try and find was Jagged Stone, and that's kind of cool, but at the same time we couldn't work together to try and do it. The rules of the day meant that a new “friend” would be assigned to us at random.
Which is a shame, because Sabrina and I probably could have made short work this whole thing.
My phone buzzed with the first clue, “With one turn of a handle, I can raise the level.” That was easy enough, the Canal Saint-Martin. That wasn't even very far away, maybe a few blocks. I thought back to what was shown to me in the shock while walking towards the canal lock. It was of a girl with black and purple hair and a boy with teal hair. Both of them had their backs turned, so I had no idea what they looked like, but...
...it seemed I was going to meet one of them today. The girl on the bridge looked almost the same as the one in my vision, though shorter somehow? But the hair was a dead giveaway, along with the fact that her clothing also seemed similar.
And that she had her back to me. I guess the best approach would be direct?
“Um, hello!”
That seemed to startle her more than anything, though she slowly turned around. Her face was covered by her hair, and her expression was one of fear. But we briefly locked eyes, and something in her seemed to calm right away. Enough for her to haltingly mumble something out. I barely caught it.
“Hello. I'm Juleka.”
-
In the end, it turned out she was more scared about searching for Jagged Stone than meeting me; apparently her mother had something against him and she didn't really want Juleka to take part, but was free to do so anyways. Though we kept following the clues, we both eventually gave up the hunt and started to talk more about our lives. It turned out we had a few similar interests, and by the end of the day when we met up with Sabrina I had grown used to Juleka's unique way of speaking French.
It took Sabrina more time to get there, though.
-
“I couldn't believe it Nettie, all she kept going on about was how “utterly ridiculous” I was! Everything from what I was wearing to if I couldn't get one of the clues right on the first try! I guess I drew the short straw on this whole thing.”
“It's alright Brina, you don't ever have to see her again at least.” I said, putting a supportive arm around her at the same time.
“I hope not. You know how I feel about bullies. But...” She turned her attention to the raven-haired girl sitting on the other side of me. “At least it looks like things were brighter on your end?”
“They were for sure! Juleka, this is Sabrina!”
Juleka's eyes darted up and down Sabrina, as if looking for some kind of hidden intention. After a moment, she breathed a small sigh of relief before letting out a mumble that was similar to what I had heard earlier in the day. Judging from the look on Sabrina's face, she hadn't quite caught what the other girl had said, so I served as a translator.
“She said it's nice to meet you.”
-
From then on, we were a trio. Three Musketeers, all for one and one for all. I wasn't sure how Juleka would influence us at first, it was only later I realized that her tastes ended up seeping into Sabrina and I unnoticed, enough that all of us were wearing darker clothing by the time we hit our teens, not to mention a nose piercing (for Sabrina) and hair dye (for myself, which more than surprised my parents the day I showed up at home from a sleepover with pink highlights in my black hair). But none of that was a bad thing, if anything we embraced it all. We understood Juleka when very few would bother trying; her accented French could come out sounding low or in mumbles to others, but we knew what she saying. Juleka could be as chaotic as her mother around the right people, and it seemed as though we were her people.
The three of us were together enough that a language was taking form among ourselves; an unholy mix of French, Scottish Gaelic, English, and some Mandarin. Every weekend a sleepover, either at my place, Juleka's houseboat or Sabrina's apartment. Sabrina had in fact been over more times than I could count, largely because her father, Roger, trusted my parents and knew she was in good hands. He worked long hours as a police officer but took a step back from front-line duties as Sabrina got older, not wanting to be in danger and leave Sabrina without a parent. It took Roger...longer to get used to both Juleka and Anarka, her mother, but in the end was won over by a weird shared taste in rock music. Sabrina had told me when he was younger that Roger upheld the law to the letter but had significantly mellowed out over the years, which was good as Anarka didn't exactly park her boat in entirely legal areas. Our first combined sleepover on the Liberty also caused him concern as the boat had ended up in another place entirely overnight, but seeing his daughter happy must have helped warm things over.
Not to mention my own parents helping in that respect, too. I dearly love my papa and my maman; both of them work so hard to keep the bakery running, which means long days and nights, but they always also find ways to make time for me. Occasionally I pitch in, there have even been periods when Sabrina has as well, and they get along with Roger and Anarka. They've even taken on Juleka's brother, Luka, as a delivery driver! Anarka had come back to Paris so that Luka could attend a prestigious music school. Juleka was offered the same but she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to do yet, so of course Sabrina and I jumped at the chance to have her in our class, though it did mean she had to go down a grade because of odd timing.
We were now getting ready to enter our third year of school together. It seemed as though we wouldn't be switching classes, even with the addition of some new people into the school; I didn't pay attention to any of that but Sabrina had found out that not only was the daughter of the Mayor going to be in our school this year, but also the son of some famous fashion designer. Ag...something. Agreste maybe? That name had sounded familiar.
It didn't matter; nothing would change my year too much. Nothing exciting would happen, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm happy being normal, I'm happy in my life, with my friends.
But as I travelled to school, before meeting up with Sabrina and Juleka, little did I know my life would change in a big way. All because I picked up a small butterfly brooch that was lying in a puddle of water. I didn't even notice it at first but a purple jewel caught my sight. Bending down to pick it up, a terrible shock came to me, one of the worst I've ever experienced.
A vision of a girl in a ladybug outfit, a boy in leather made to look like a cat. Some figure calling himself “Hawkmoth”. A box that seemed to be filled with random jewellery. A bunch of mysterious figures that were guarding over said box, but it was stolen from a Temple-
“Nettie!”
I looked down the street and saw Sabrina calling out to me, with Juleka standing next to her. I couldn't just leave the broach, it seemed far too precious for that. Besides, if it gave off such a strong mental vision, maybe that meant that I was supposed to have it? I could always give it up later, and maybe someone was out looking for a piece of lost jewellery. Stuffing it into my pocket, I ran down to meet my friends. After school was over, maybe then I could figure out what to do with it.
For now, my last year at Collège Françoise Dupont was about to begin.

Oooohhh! Can I ask about your favorite dessert and drink?
Hi Erika! Thank you so much for the ask! I’d love to answer these questions for you! 🥰
Questions from this “Get To Know Me” Ask Game
🎂 — Favourite Dessert
So fun(?) fact about me, I have Celiac/Coeliac Disease which kind of limits the types of desserts I can have, but there are lots of wonderful desserts that are gluten-free! 😊 While I have been blessed to have some really tasty gluten free cakes, cookies, and other baked goods in my life, my favourite desserts tend to be ones that are naturally gluten free (like ice cream, custards, and jello). One of my favourite naturally gluten free desserts is French macarons (which are made with almond flour). There's a local macaron bakery near to where I live that's fantastic, but I've also baked some myself (it's just a very labor-intensive process and I'm not skilled enough to make the more interesting flavors they have at the bakery 😅). For very special treats (since it's something I can't make myself...at least not yet😅), I love crème brûlée! But my go-to dessert at home is usually something simple like ice cream or jello! 🥰 (And now I'm reminded of a scene from one of my favourite movies "My Best Friend's Wedding", so I think I'll end this with a gif 😁)

Gif from Buzzfeed
🫖 — Favourite Drink
I love tea of any kind, but my favourite is probably Darjeeling. My favourite soda pop is Dr. Pepper, and I also love apple juice and strawberry lemonade. For something a little more out of the box, I adore any flavour of blue gatorade.
In terms of an alcoholic beverage, I'm not a big drinker because I'm kind of lightweight, but I do enjoy making up my own cocktail recipes (it's a lot easier and more cost-effective for me to mix my own cocktails at home since Celiac/Coeliac Disease limits the kinds of liquor I can have too). If I go out to drink with friends (which is a very rare occurrence), I usually order something pretty standard like a Vodka Cranberry or Rum & Coke. Dirty Shirleys (Sprite, Grenadine, & Vodka) are pretty good too! 🥰 I also appreciate a good wine and prefer red wine over white though I tend to like rosés the best. There is also a local vineyard that makes wines out of other fruits which is pretty great. [I actually loved their cherry wine so much it actually inspired one of my fanfictions ("Wine Therapy")]. 😊
Thank you so much for the ask and for playing my ask game! 💖

Father of the Bride | Para
Featuring: Jade & Richard Clark; mentions of @rodrigo-esc and others Location: The Clark estate; San Francisco, CA Time Frame: Afternoon; Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 Notes: Jade talks with her dad about the wedding
Jade stood in the foyer of her father's home after being let in by the housekeeper. She was briefly greeted and congratulated by his wife, Wendy, before the older woman excused herself up the stairs to check in on some baking she'd been doing. Jade still felt self-conscious and insecure around Wendy, knowing that she, Jade, was evidence of her father's affair amidst his marriage to her. Wendy had told Jade that she wasn't angry or resentful towards her, and that she has forgiven Richard for his brief affair. Still, she and Jade didn't really have a relationship and their direct interactions were always short.
Standing awkwardly on her own with her purse and a gift bag in her hand, Jade glanced around the immaculate home. It was a home that her dad and his wife had built about six years ago in the style that best suited them and their desires, according to Jasper. She'd been there before, dropping off Jett and Jewel, and accepting the occasional dinner invite. But it wasn't 'home' for her. She thought about her lack of belonging within the Clark family often, even though the most she voiced it had been in therapy. But being there now, it was hard not to think about it more than usual.
Her thoughts shifted a bit when she heard solid footfall nearing. She looked to her right and saw her father coming down the stairs.
"Jade, hi! It's nice to see you," he spoke, flashing her a smile as he reached the landing. "Come on up, I have some coffee and snacks in one of the sitting rooms upstairs."
"Hi," Jade replied kindly and then followed her father up the stairs. The sitting room he had been referring to was open to the kitchen. It offered them no privacy as Wendy was actively baking about 30 feet away. The attached sitting room had a great view of the city as the bulk of its wall had been glass. There was a crescent-shaped couch in the center of the room and two unusually-shaped ottomans but in between them sat a coffee table where two mugs of something that smelled chocolatey and a tray of biscottis, scones cookies and macarons.
Jade eyed the food but couldn't bring herself to help herself to any of it, even after her father said, "I hope hot chocolate's okay. It's too late in the day for me to have coffee but if you'd like some, I can brew you cup. And please, help yourself to the snacks."
With another polite smile, Jade said, "Oh, thank you. The hot chocolate is fine." She picked up the mug nearest to her and took a cautious sip, hoping not to burn her tongue. As she tested the temperature, she listened to her father.
"I really appreciate you coming by. How are you? How are the wedding plans coming along?"
"I'm well, thank you. And the wedding plans are going really well. Rodrigo and I were finishing up the seating chart and after that's done, we should only have all of the final fittings, confirmations and all of that left to do."
Richard smiled sincerely, "That's great to hear. I'm really happy for you that you found someone special to share your life with, Jade. Truly. How's Rodrigo?"
"Thank you, and... he's good! Just recovering from a procedure this weekend but he's doing well. I think he's planning to go back to work on Tuesday."
"Oh, good. Nothing too invasive?"
Feeling her face warm a bit, she said, "It was elective, but he'll be okay." Trying to move away from having to share the specifics with her dad, she said, "I brought you something by the way. A gift for the wedding." She held out the gift bag to him and then sipped some more cocoa while he opened it.
Richard pulled the tissue paper out and then opened the jewelry box at the bottom of the bag. Inside sat a pair of silver, engraved cufflinks. One had his initials 'R|C' engraved on it while the other had, 'Father of the Bride' in cursive script. Richard read the inscriptions and smiled again, looking up to his daughter. "These are great, Jade. Thank you. I'm looking forward to wearing these on your big day."
Jade smiled, "I appreciate it. And I really appreciate all of your support for Rodrigo and me. It's meant a lot to me." Sh hesitated for a moment and glanced down, "Um..." her words faded, the fillers not really being something common for her.
"Is everything okay? It's not your-... it's not Jeanette, is it?"
Quickly, Jade shook her head, "No. No, it's not her." Drawing in a shaky breath, Jade said, "I um... I know it's common for a father to walk his daughter down the aisle."
Richard's concern melted slowly into realization but let Jade go on.
"I don't want to hurt your feelings, but..." she set her mug down. "I decided I'm going to walk down the aisle by myself."
She glanced up, lips tucked in nervously, and then she said, "I'm sorry. I just... I know you've been supportive of my relationship which I don't take lightly at all. And I hope that we can keep building our relationship. I just... don't feel like we're there yet. And I know that that tradition is rooted in brides being given away to their groom by their father, or parents and I don't think that really applies here." Conscious of her heading for a ramble, she stopped talking and took another deep breath.
Silence passed between them for a moment. Richard seemed to be considering her words for the duration and then he set Jade's gift aside. Shifting on the couch, he faced Jade more directly and said, "Jade, I understand. I'm sad about it but I know I don't have the right to be."
"Oh, no that's not tr--"
He held a hand up, "Let me finish, please." He then lowered his hand and argued, "It is true. I know that you and have talked about our past before and I know that there's nothing I can do to change how I handled things--letting Jeanette essentially raise you alone and not being there for you until you were deeply in trouble because of her. That's no way to be a father. You didn't ask to be born and you didn't ask to be on the receiving end of my poor decision-making. I should have tried harder for you and I didn't. I'm sorry. If I had, maybe... I don't know. Maybe you would feel differently now. But you're right that you don't need me to give you away. You're already Rodrigo's and he's already yours." He reached over and took hold of Jade's hand, giving a squeeze. "I'll be honored to be there as a guest, a witness to your special day, and a supporter of your happiness."
Jade, who had grown teary-eyed, squeezed her dad's hand back--a smile tugging at her lips. "Thank you," she whispered, reaching up to wipe one eye and then the other. "Thank you so much."
Richard smiled and nodded, and Jade scooted a little closer so that she could give her dad a hug. It almost struck her more that he was being so understanding and apologetic towards her. She hugged him tightly and from over her shoulder, heard him ask, "Can I ask one small favor?"
Jade drew back, sniffing and replied, "Yes?" while wiping her eyes again.
"Save a dance for me?"
Her lips wobbled into another smile as she nodded, "I will." She then suggested, "Maybe we can pick a song to let the DJ know?"
Richard reached for a tissue and handed it to Jade. "I'd like that. A lot actually. And Jade, if you need anything at all--wedding related or not, please let me know, okay? I know I can't make up everything with buying things but if I can help with something, I'd like to."
Jade knew he was trying his best. She knew he was trying to make up, and she knew that he was trying to be a better dad for this part of her life than he'd been for more than the first half of it. So she accepted his comment with a few more nods and then, after taking a moment to get her tears under control, offered to look up some song ideas on her phone for them to dance to.

Is there a gang problem in your area? Not that I know of. If there were any it would be super underground.
Do you make your Starbucks order more complicated if it isn't busy? No. The extent to which you could customize your drinks at that place scares and overwhelms me, lmao. I've always just gotten whatever's on the menu.
Do you consider airports to be emotional places? Yes, I've always held a quiet resentment towards airports because sending off my dad, who works abroad, has been a regular occurence in my life since I was 2. I've never felt nice in them, even when I'm already the one traveling, because the bitter goodbyes are all I remember.
Where do you need to be? Nooooooooooofuckingwhere. I'm happy to be home and holed up in my room. I've been out all week for Christmas parties and errands.
Would you date an already attached person? No.
When you marry, will you wear white? Yeah, assuming that happens to me.
What vaccine that you've received hurt the most? All injections hurt the same to me – it's the side effects that vary. So far the Covid vaccines and boosters have sucked the most.
Do you ever feel like you're being watched? I mean sure, but it's never been like a stalker-type situation. It's fairly easy to find myself in situations where I'm watched, like when I'm presenting a Powerpoint to a whole room.
What will it take to make or break this day for you? My day's already made because I got a box of macarons from a frequent work supplier today. As far as break, idk. There's loads of bad news I could possibly get.
Would you give up a dream for someone you loved? I was willing to in the past, and looking deep down I don't think that has changed. I love deeply. I can always find ways to make the most out of life, and I think the only time I would back out is if our values or directions in life are entirely different and stand no chance of being reconciled in any shape or form whatsoever.
Could you date someone who's only been your friend for a long time? I did. Prior friendships are what I prefer in relationships too.
Do you prefer to date various people or do you pretty much fall into monogamous relationships quickly? I've only ever been in a monogamous relationship. It's what I prefer as a setup, but generally I don't date anymore.
Are you afraid to ask people out on dates? It's not that I'm afraid. I'm just not interested.
Do you think it's better to look for love or let it find you? I let things happen naturally.
Have you ever found yourself worrying about commitment? Never been a problem for me.
Would you get involved with someone if they had a child already? Preferably not but if I'm really into the person, I think it's something I'm willing to try. I'm nowhere near ready to be a stepmom, but no one ever really is.
Have you ever learned an important lesson as a result of a break up? Yeah. I think that's part of the role of breakups...
Have you ever gotten back in touch with an old flame after a time of more than three months of no communication? Nopes, it was more the opposite for me. I kept in touch for the next three months thinking things had a chance of changing, then realized how unhealthy it was for me so I promptly cut off all lines of communication with them when the new year rolled in.
Do you or would you ever wear fake eyelashes? I did just once, realized how much I hated being made up like that, removed them before the event was even over, and never wore them again.
Do you think that smaller breeds of dogs are cuter than big ones? I like all dogs but I will say I like bigger dogs a teeny weeny bit more.
When was the last time you slept in a tent? Two years ago.
What brand of make-up do you prefer to use? I don't follow makeup brands.
Do you have any siblings and if so, what're they like? Nina is very independent, naturally defensive (almost to a fault), but also sensitive. We all kind of tiptoe around her since she can cry about anything. She's incredibly artistic and resourceful and is reliable in many situations. I don't know much about my brother apart from him liking K-pop girl groups and having a sharp memory. He doesn't show much of a personality beyond those two things.
What was the last television show that you sat and watched multiple episodes of? Gyeongsong Creature.
Is there anything significant happening this month? It's Bea's last working day on the 31st and after that I'll be pretty much left to my own devices with an entire team to run.
When was the last time you plucked your eyebrows? I don't do that.
Do you have any chronic pain? No.
When was the last time you had a Poptart? Either a year or two ago. Can't remember. I don't have them often.
Do you like hot chocolate? Not in general. There's only one variant of hot chocolate I'd get on the regular, and that's a local restaurant's San Gines hot chocolate.
Who is your best guy friend? Hans, if any.
What’s your favorite Michael Jackson song? Either Smooth Criminal or Bad.
Where did you buy your favorite pair of jeans from? I don't even remember. I've had it for so long as my fave and I refuse to throw it out hahaha. Maybe at an ukay?
When was the last time you got your hair done professionally? A couple of months ago when I got another dye job.
Do you like TGI Fridays? I think it's extremely overpriced and that automatically makes me not a fan. Why pay triple the price for a plate of wings?
Have you ever gotten your legs waxed? Nope, I just shave them.
Have you ever read anything by Edgar Allen Poe? I don't think I have.
When was the last time it rained where you live? Last night the rain was pretty strong! I think we have a typhoon.
Do you like horses? They're okay, but I'm not attached to them like some people would be.
What are your grandfathers’ names? I'll only share their nicknames, which are Jun and Boy.
Have you ever seen a snake in real life? Yes. I've held one.
Do you know anyone that has been held hostage before? Only by association, but my sister's boss from when she was interning.

1, 17, 24 and 33 for the asks?
Who is/are your comfort characters
At the moment probably just Violet? Idk, there's no show or anything that I'm super focused on right now
17. Are you nearsighted or farshighted?
Oh my eyesight is literally so bad. I can't see anything far away, it's all so blurry. If something's more than like 6 inches away, I probably won't be able to read anything
24. If we were on a rooftop what would we be doing?
Maybe we can be watching the sunset. And having dessert; a box of mini pastries like eclairs and macarons or something. That would be nice :) 🌅
33. What was the last adventure you went on?
On Saturday I went on a day trip by myself which can count as an adventure I guess. It was a lot of walking because the things I wanted to see were nowhere near each other. And also google maps told me at one point to walk along this one very busy road, except there were no sidewalks?? So I had to improvise with a different route. Or maybe I'm on an adventure right now since I'm currently on the other side of the ocean than usual.

Is there a rail line near your house? If so, is it noisy and bothersome?
Unfortunately, not anymore. I used to live in the place with nearby tram line, though. I liked it.
What's your favourite flavour of potato chip?
I don’t like crisps.
How far do you live from the nearest international border?
About 20 kilometres.
Do you know anyone born on the 29th of February?
I do. We’ve been always joking that he’s, in fact, 4x younger than the rest of us because his birthday is only once in 4 years. He’s been celebrating his birthday at 28th February, though.
What's the tastiest thing inside your refrigerator right now?
Cheese with black pepper, I think.
Do you have a name that can also be used for the opposite sex?
Nope, my name is typically masculine.
What model of car do you drive?
Renault Clio.
Have you ever dated someone you work with?
Better, he’s my husband. We don’t work at the same department, though.
Who was the last person to call you?
Unknown number.
Do you have a lock number or pattern for your phone?
A pattern, I’m used to them.
Is your pantry messy at the moment?
No, it’s not.
Do you post on the Bzoink forums? If not, you should seriously consider it.
I don’t even have an account there.
List all of your siblings' middle names.
Monique, that’s all.
How are you feeling today? I hope you're doing well.
Slight headache from the heat, otherwise fine. We spent a nice time in Oudenburg earlier.
What's your favourite type of juice?
Orange.
What was the last present someone gave you and what was the occasion?
Some clothes and there wasn’t any occasion.
Do you ever let your phone go completely flat before charging it again?
Do I have much choice when travelling? Usually I take a full powerbank and a cable, we have two cables in the car as well, typically I keep them connected while at home.
When was the last time you left the house? Where'd you go?
Today, to Oudenburg. It was fun, but way too hot.
Are you in any sort of physical pain right now, even if very mild?
Yeah, back pain and headache.
What was one of your favourite movies as a small child?
I’ve never liked movies. I have to be careful with flickering lights anyway.
Do you know the middle name of the last person you texted?
I don’t even remember who was the last person I texted.
What was the last thing you bought from a liquor store?
I don’t buy things in liquor stores, wine can be bought everywhere in my country.
Have you had pins and needles today?
I always do.
What was the hardest language you've ever tried to learn?
French lol. Not like I’ve tried, it’s mandatory here.
Do you have any food intolerances or allergies?
Yeah, hazelnuts. And most likely lactose intolerance.
What did you dress up as last Halloween?
I don’t even celebrate that shit.
What's the best dress-up you've ever done?
None, I’m not interested.
What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
Soup.
Is there any cereal in your house? What kind?
Cheerios, I think.
What's the most number of people you've ever lived with?
Two, not including me.
Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
I don’t.
Are there any cool keychains on your keys?
There are. I buy keychains in every place I travel to and so far my favourite one is from Amsterdam, with little bikes, and from Paris, with little macarons.
Do your favourite shoes have laces? If so, what colour are they?
They do and the laces are white.
What brand and type of milk do you usually buy?
Brand doesn’t matter, milk is milk. But I always buy 3.6%, the full one. What’s the point of buying skimmed milk if you can use water instead? The taste is identical anyway.
Does it bother you when bands you like change/experiment with genres?
It doesn’t.
What is in the drawers beside your bed?
Another drawer and a table light on one of them, and a box of tissues and a TV remote on another. Inside there are pens and notebooks.
When was the last time you tripped on your own feet?
Today because people walk way too slow and I’m physically unable to do that.
Do you own a tablet device?
I do, it’s a Samsung.
Do you like to listen to albums from start to finish or just shuffle it?
I don’t even listen to albums. I always have a couple of songs I like from an album, but never an album as a whole.
Does small-talk bother you a lot?
It does. I don’t know how to do it.
What's the time right at this minute?

My husband.
What was the last favour you did for someone?
Ordered food for us both.

Cold. Is it even possible to sleep when it’s too hot?

One way you can enhance the appearance of your cardboard display boxes is to imprint your logo or brand name on it. You can do this by cutting out a template of the design that you want and then tracing over it onto a piece of standard Kraft paper cardboard. Then, lay another sheet of standard Kraft paper on top of the first so as to fully cover both the cardboard pieces. The design that you've worked on will be fully visible, and you can simply cut out the final design using a sharp knife before finally gluing it all together. This retail packaging option offers you the opportunity to come up with a unique design that can perfectly complement your business branding.
If you're wondering how you can go about getting custom display boxes for your product display cases, the answer lies in browsing online for the box manufacturers or suppliers of these valuable items. Most online sellers specialize in box printing and customization, and they are happy to help you create eye-catching displays that are appealing to customers. You can choose from a range of eye-catching designs that are suitable for almost any kind of product. Some of the most popular eco-friendly printing options for retail display boxes include recycled corrugated cardboard, sugarcane, wood fiber, eco friendly printer paper, and soy paper among others.
Corrugated Cardboard Display Countertop
A good choice for cardboard display boxes would be paperboard and corrugated cardboard countertop. This is because these materials have natural properties that make them easy to clean and durable enough to stand up to wear and tear. In addition, paperboard and corrugated cardboard countertop can be customized according to your taste, whether you want to have your logo or brand name embroidered on it, or you can just use any sort of short message that will attract customers. Corrugated cardboard is also easy to assemble, and you can set it up in just a few minutes. This makes it perfect for companies that are looking for convenient yet affordable displays.
Custom Display Boxes Wholesale
As part of a company's marketing strategy, custom boxes wholesale may not seem like an important factor. However, without these effective, attractive, and easy-to-use containers, your sales prospects will suffer. It is not enough for products to simply look great - customers need to feel comfortable buying them as well. With a carefully chosen combination of packing services, countertop box printing, and creative designing, you can ensure that your brand stays in front of your target audience all day long.

In everyone's residence wether it be small, or Big, rich, or poor all across teyvat in a dimly lit room there's always a painting a replica of a Young Girl with a blue flower, the rest is all monotoned colors and they call her "The Girl with the Blue Flower".
The way the paintings they have varies, Some she's sitting on a bed, some paintings she's holding an unpeeled apple with a knife, or with a bird and a cat, some are her eating macarons and drinking tea, some are her in a garden sitting on a red bench, near a river with 2 bridges or in a garden of blue flowers, the most popular are her sitting idly with a blue box and a bird cage.
In a small unnamed island east of Guyun stone forest and North Inazuma stood a manor on it, in one of the dimly rooms a painting in an easel covered by a sheet was uncovered. A Merchant was left alone
"Heehee, have you come to paint me?" A sweet voice spoke up within the room, too dim for the man to indentify the person who spoke. "Who...Who said that?" The man questioned. "Me Silly~" you moved your hand to wave, though robotically and stiff it gave off a slight "comforting" but ominous vibe. The merchant's breath hitched when his eyes landed on the painting. A girl sitting there one eye closed in all monotone colors...but a red eye.
"A Painter? Am I finally getting painted....you are a painter right?" You tilted your head to the side stiffly. The man nodded no. "It's rude to stare at a lady you know" you retorted back. "Get to painting...though I'm feeling peckish, I'm sure my acolytes won't mind if I asked for some food...."
In less that a moment Who have been known as the God of anemo, Barbatos walked in with an apple and handed it to the painter and whispered "Paint it how she likes her apples" softly like a warning. 'How she likes it??? I don't even know who she is.'
"Tsk tsk...how long must you take" You said in annoyance "But there is no paint to use" the man mumbled out "Oh..here—" a flame appeared on her fingertips "Oh dear it's too bright let me....shrink the flame" The flame shranked and the man stumbles back 'my chest...it's hurts....' a stinging pain in his chest rised.
"Your life is like a small candle flame...what color will it be, Blue like the sky, Yellow like a sour lemon, or red like....hehe let's see~"
The man picked up the brush "I'm bored and hungry too, I wonder whose screams will sate my appetite" you giggled.
"Now Paint. Put your soul into it. Stake your life on it" you whispered.
The merchant painted the apple on her hands, and colored it red "Oh. an apple. It looks delicious." You stopped speaking and opened your eyes and looked at him "But I can't eat it when it's still unpeeled. I see now. you want ME to peel it!" The man visibly gulped He's upsetted her.
"I'm very good at peeling things, you know!" You tilted your head to the right in an almost impossible manner and lifted your hand up.
The merchant was discovered in the studio with all their skin peeled off. No. 2 skinned
A couple figures walked in "What a great performance that was your Grace" Morax..or Zhongli spoke up.
"Yes..yes..and another day without me getting painted" you sighed.
"Some day we will come across a painter to paint you, Your Grace" Ei spoke sweetly.
