new l!fting tip #1: tumblr 101

no tags!!! do not tag ur posts, it makes it easier for non-l!fters to find and report l!fters

censor out brands and l!fting terms!! such as dn@, 3B, etc. (dn@ is did not arrive and 3B is empty box!!! different l!fting methods)

never ever put any defining objects in your photos if you are gonna post! make sure its the haul and ONLY the haul.

remove exif data from your photos so they can’t be traced, personally i dont do think bc im lazy but you should!

don’t put your total in your bio! i used to do this bc i liked to tell ppl i saved $20k-$30k over the year but it’s not smart to flaunt that you’re over the felony limit!

next, #2: how to lyft

so you’ve already completed your first lyft (woohoo proud of u!!) but how can you go about being safer and smarter?

my first tip is always scan the school for cameras! be sneaky tho don’t like just stare at the ceiling, but yk get a feel for how many cameras, what type, and what direction they’re facing. most places are gonna have the dome cameras, those are the worst because they see in every direction. always always try to body block if possible. either get someone else to block you or duck behind something while you’re concealing. better to not be caught on cam!!

nobody in that store is your friend, remember that. always assume that customers are plain clothes LP (disguised security) and always assume that sales associates WILL rat you out. don’t think “oh well it’s just me and one other person in the aisle it’ll be fine” because it’s gonna be the one time it’s not fine.

on that note, be kind to everyone. this isn’t just a lyfting tip it’s a rule i live by but just be kind. they’re gonna suspect you much less if you smile and answer questions and compliment them if you feel so inclined, just be a nice person. i believe this is one of the reasons i’ve never been caught, i’m just very friendly.

concealing!!! where to conceal? i personally like using my bag most often. your bag is important too!!! i use one off amazon (you can type like kawaii heart school bag and it’ll pop up, its black and has a big heart cut out for pins) but i dont have any pins because i dont want it to be too identifiable. its purse enough for people not to tell me to take it off (a lot of places don’t allow backpacks) but big enough to fit a LOT of stuff. structured bags are always a good idea too! that way people won’t be able to tell if you’ve put anything in there. i like to conceal in aisles without cameras most often, but if i have to body block sometimes i’ll put stuff up my sleeves first! another idea is to use a shopping bag from another store. this way people will think you’ve just already bought stuff! the target ones are my favorite since they’re opaque<3

onto the next section, #3: all about tags

de-tagging is definitely a more experienced lyfting practice but you can definitely start with rfids!!

rfids are gonna be the little metal wires in plastic, paper, or sticker tags. these are very common and you’ll see them at places like w4lmart or t4rget. these are easily removable by either cutting them off or disabling them with a magnet. you don’t NEED any tools while lyfting, but some of them can come in handy. if you do find yourself with a magnet, to disable rfids you just need to swipe your magnet against the tag. if you don’t have one, simply cut the metal wire in half. you can use scissors or nail clippers or cuticle nippers or whatever you might have!! if you can’t cut them, simply remove them and i personally stick the tag in the pocket of a really ugly item on clearance so that it hopefully goes unfound for a while!

hard tags! hard tags are any tag from the solid tags you find usually on clothes to spider tags you find on electronics or wire tags on jewelry at hot topic, etc. these all require tools to remove. some will require a magnet, others will require hooks, but it’s definitely worth looking into if you decide to branch out on your journey.

brief mention, #3.5: booster bags!

booster bags are small bags lined with many layers of foil to prevent signals from reaching the towers. just in case you didn’t know, towers are the tall sensors by the front door when you walk in! with a booster bag, you can put any kind of tagged item you want, zip it up, and walk out without beeping. you need many layers however!! the way to test if your bag works it by putting your cell phone in there and asking someone to call you. if the call goes through, there aren’t enough layers!! once the call doesn’t go through you’re set! this however is a more advanced trick so please be careful if you’re gonna try this!

lastly, #4 online “shopping”!

so you’ve heard of dn4ing or empty boxes, well lemme tell you what it all means! did not arrive is when you purchase an item, wait for it to arrive, and then message the carrier and tell them it never arrived. typically our goal here is to get a refund, but any times they wont be as easily persuaded and you’ll end up with a replacement instead. however it’s not impossible and many places are easier others. if you think you wanna try this, she!n or am4zon are a good place to start!! if she!n opens an investigation, it’s just a bluff, go with it!

empty box is another form of online lyfting, it’s when you tell the carrier that your item arrived with nothing in it. the process is similar to the first one, message the carrier etc. however just claim that it’s an empty box!

This was very interesting. The vibe was very different than when I did the reading about atiny. It seems stay are more emotional beings who hold skz close to their hearts as comfort! (which makes sense considering the themes of their music.)

One other thing I found interesting was that in this reading, all the stans turned out to really take after the idol. In some cases I even felt the stans were like a mini version of the idol themselves or like 'they were written by' the idol. In the ateez version, there were cases in which the stans were the complete opposite of the idol!

a masterlist for lifting UK shops 🏋‍♂️🏋‍♂️

thought id give some love for fellow UK lifters (i will update this regularly)

Sup3rmärķets (TESCO, Aldi, Lidl etc): easy pickings, great for beginners. often LP and beeping gates. cart walk outs are quite difficult because they tend to have the exits blocked off to only if u buy stuff 🏋‍♂️

Sûp3rdrug and Bóöts: multiple LP on medium alert but SUPERSUPERR easy as long as u conceal in a blind spot. my first lift was here 😭👍 sleeve conceal for small items like lipsticks and eyeliner but i like to kneel and pretend to look at products then shove one in my tote for bigger items like shampoos and hair gels!

ĥ&M: easy. most cheap clothes aren't tagged and fitting rooms are only monitered on busy weekends. staff are pretty chill.

Prîmãrk: slightly chill staff, tons of LP and fitting rooms HIGHLY monitored. they search through clothes super thoroughly and will get mad if u try to hide anything. however, their makeups accessories are sooo easy great for beginners.

Süp3rdrỳ: all clothes is tagged, multiple LP around the store and unmonitored fitting rooms but the fitting rooms tend to be near the checkout. only lifted once from here because its not normally busy but staff was definetly suspicious of me. dont reccomend for newbies.

ĥmv: multiple LPs and staff but the staff are so chill someone saw me and did nothing. i normlly sleeve conceal small blind bags or knick nacks and just stuff it in my bag at a blindspot for bigger boxed figurines and manga. some items have rfdi

wâterst0ņes: never busy, normally no LP and only staff are at the till or shelving. some items have rfdi.

sp0řțs dîrêct: unmonitored changing rooms and busy staff helpinf customers 24/7 most items have tags. always prettu busy

uřban oûtfittēřs: monitored changing rooms, LP and staff. all items are tagged so bring tools. some have magnet detectors. always busy

urban outfitter tag: (no clue what this is but my magnet wasnt strong enough, howver someties their buzzing machines dont work so u can just walk out with it)

Lûsĥ: no rfdi, pretty busy. lots of staff who will ask to help you out. no LP. no buzzing machines

Tỳpö: no LP, rarely rfdi, few staff, pretty easy to sleave small items like washi tape and pens.

The flying tiger: really easy, no LP, no rfdi and few staff. however normally busy and its full of millenials who WILL rat u out if they see.

I chickened out of writing an actual piece for this ask regarding Viceglide’s first meeting with Maelstrom, but consider that remedied. Please do your best to envision Mark Hamill and Tim Curry speaking to each other.

The battle had been a bloody one, a vicious, unrepentant thing that Viceglide knew had no use for a scout, yet here he was. The newly ascended Ultra Magnus had done nothing so far except holding strong the points of his predecessor, including the ones that sent mechs to the Allspark in border skirmishes every solar cycle.

Somehow still in one piece, Viceglide had hit the washracks before anything else, blasting the sticky sheen of others’ energon away under a comforting rush of solvent. He had rounded the corner of the hall leading to and from the washracks, clearing his vents to expel any moisture that may have lingered, when he saw her sitting, back to the wall, rotary blades spread behind her, picking at something she held with one servo.

This wasn’t the first time he had done so, of course. Second only to the rarely-seen labor frame CMO, her white and red plating marked her indistinguishably as a medic. She was an air-lifter, an emergency evacuator, a “keep you alive even if you want to be dead” kind of mech. He had never seen her up close, though.

She hadn’t bothered to wipe the battle's energon away, and it was everywhere. It pooled slightly beneath her where she knelt on the rusting floor, it left garish servo-prints on her white pauldrons, it traced dying rivulets down her rotary blades, and she paid it all no mind.

All of her attention, it seemed, was focused on the severed head in her lap.

Viceglide, upon his optics relaying the scene and its subjects to his processor, froze in his tracks.

Which, he thought, was a very reasonable response to such a situation. Most mechs weren’t overly sentimental or keen on keeping trophies, so to see something like this was certainly-

“You’re that scout they sent over, aren’t you?”

He did not startle when she spoke in a low, smooth voice. He did not pause for an unduly long amount of time, nanokliks feeling like megacycles. He just… gathered himself.

“Who wants to know?” He snapped, staring down a blank crimson visor with all the venom he could muster.

Her gray faceplates split into a truly massive grin, showing large, sharp, dentae. She gave a small chuckle.

“A medic does.” She said, as if that was any kind of answer.

The hooked visor swung back around to the head in her lap, and one servo shot out to beckon him.

“Come on then, sit down. Have a closer look. This really is fascinating.”

Viceglide should have left. He should have turned right back around, tried to purge the gruesome sight from his memory banks, and moved on with his life. He should have ignored the pull that seemed to be tugging at his plating, that morbid, magnetic curiosity.

But he didn’t.

Instead he rolled his optics, followed her hand, and sat down beside her, taking care to avoid the energon that still dribbled from her greaves.

“You still haven’t told me your designation.” He said, distantly thinking that he should feel more disgust at his proximity to a decapitated head.

“And you still haven’t told me yours.” She replied cooly, the smile still etched into her mouth, turning the helm over to examine the back plating. “I wonder if you have one, or if you’re still using your serial number.”

“Wh-“ The audacity! “I haven’t used my serial number since boot camp.” He sneered.

“Then that makes two of us.”

She worked a finger between a seam, and something disengaged with a sharp click! The plating folded away, spreading and unlocking, until Viceglide could see the blackness of protomatter that should have been lit by biolights, now totally dark.

“I’m just trying a little something,” she said, completely unprompted, “I want to see if I can still access the memory banks in this state.”

Viceglide scoffed and gave her a sidelong glance. “You want to make a dead mech speak, doctor?”

“Precisely!”

“I thought medics dealt with patients who’re a little more… alive.” This was, undoubtedly, one of the strangest interactions of Viceglide’s existence.

“Most do, but I love being an exception, mech-who-doesn’t-go-by-his-serial-number. Picking at a processor is more prudent to me than any amputated limb,” Actions mirroring her words, three clawed digits of her right servo probed into the protomatter. “do you have a spare power cell?”

He did, and wasn’t planning on using it for anything in particular, but he still folded his arms over his subspace access.

“Why?”

“I need to do a little jumpstart on our friend here.”

“Don’t tell me you think that’ll actually get him to talk.”

“Of course not, scout. But it will provide me with the scant time I need to access his memory files manually.”

“Manually?” Viceglide echoed. “You make yourself sound like a mnemosurgeon.”

“I am.”

Any other questions he might have had ground to a halt within his processor. Mnemosurgeons were state-sanctioned, only employed at prestigious, homeworld hospitals like Iacon General. Not even Velocitron, city of a thousand scalpels, ventured into the practice of rearranging someone’s mind.

Independent mnemosurgery was dangerous, mysterious, and very, very illegal.

“Self-taught, of course, and I can’t do any of those rewrites. But I really find the most fun is in the looking.”

Viceglide took another moment to gather himself.

“…a mnemosurgeon.”

“Yes.”

“You.”

“Yes. Was I not clear about that bit?”

He huffed, irritation slicing through his disbelief against all odds. He’d never met a medic with a berthside manner as… odd as this one.

“It’s just a bit strange. One doesn’t meet too many mnemosurgeons these days.”

She chuckled at that, a small, clear sound that matched her ever-present grin. He was beginning to think it was permanent.

“Certainly not. They're all relentlessly difficult to find,” she extracted her claws from the protomatter and tapped them on a separated plate in thought. “And when you do find them, they’re hardly worth talking to. The power cell?”

Viceglide felt the last of his resolve wilt, and muttered out a string of unintelligible complaints while he fished in his subspace.

The mnemosurgeon’s left hand was waiting for him while her optics focused on the severed brainstem, her right hand teasing out strips of conductive silicon and frazzled wires from their protective casing.

As Viceglide watched, she separated her findings into two bundles of connective wiring, and began to wrap one around the negative end of the power cell.

“Spark,” he laughed in slight disbelief, “You’re making him into a circuit.”

Her white pauldrons, striped with the red of a medic, shifted slightly with a smiling shrug.

“Only a little.”

Disconnected helm rested on top of her legs, her right hand hovered above the protomatter, poised for the surge of power. Viceglide hated to admit it, but he was looking with rapt attention. He had never seen mnemosurgery up close before.

Slowly, ever so delicately, her left servo pinched up the finest of wires, splices of silicon, to coil around the positive end of the power cell.

And slowly, but surely, Viceglide saw the dead return to life.

Little by little, sections of cyan blue biolights haltingly flickered on from within the black protomatter. Drumming her fingers in the air with anticipation, Maelstrom leaned forward, one claw just barely skimming the edge of a circuit-

When a sharp zap broke the silence, the acrid smoke of burned plasticine and insulation filled Viceglide’s olfactory and blurred his optics, and the medic beside him started and swore violently.

She swept her arm across her lap, sending the head flying down the hallway with a series of dull thunks. Viceglide leaned away and coughed, wiping away excess lubricant from his stinging optics and clearing his vents of the stench, while she hissed and shook out her wounded servo.

The hall was silent for a moment, save for the faint sizzling of protomatter.

“Wonderful work, mnemosurgeon.” Viceglide drawled at last, a smile of his own tugging at his faceplates. “Do all of your procedures have that outcome?”

The doctor in question threw back her helm and laughed, the sound ringing through the hallway.

“Ideally, no,” she said, and swiped away a smattering of melted rubber from her cheek. “But experiments are experiments for a reason, no-serial-number-since-boot-camp.”

He ex-vented shortly, half of a laugh.

“You still don’t know my designation.”

“And you don’t know mine,” she said breezily. “And I’m growing rather tired of using epithets. So, I’ll tell you what: if you give me your name, I can find poetry in it.”

“Poetry,” Viceglide deadpanned. “If you do it as well as you do mnemosurgery, I’ll pass.”

“It’s true!” She insisted, turning her helm to look at him for the first time since he had sat down.

As she did, the harsh fluorescent lighting shifted just so, and sliced through the opaque glass of her visor, and his gaze was suddenly locked with piercing optics, alight with excitement and promise.

“Even the names tossed around by the drill sargents have to come from somewhere. The words we use now correspond to glyphs that go back to Old Cybertronian, and some of the language is quite beautiful.”

Something stalled in his vents.

Beautiful, his processor echoed.

Then she shifted back again and Viceglide’s vents resumed, and he moved on, actively deciding to file that little reaction away where he would never see it again.

“Yours first,” he said. “If everyone’s designation is so poetic, it should apply to you, hm?”

“Fair,” she shrugged again, then sat up straighter, adjusting her posture.

“There are a good servoful of worlds with organic life that possess large amounts of liquid hydrogen dioxide.” She said. “So much of it that it makes up ponds and streams, rivers, lakes,” here she splayed her fingers, “but the biggest is termed an ocean.”

“I’m waiting for the poetry.”

“I’m getting there! Now, oceans have currents, places where the water all flows in a single direction at once. And when conditions are just right, when two currents flowing in opposite directions meet,” she looked at him again, “something marvelous happens.

The two currents can’t travel through each other, so they travel around each other.” The medic swirled one pointed digit in the air in a slow spiral that gradually picked up speed.

“The two currents twist together and form a vortex that can extend hundreds of mechanometers down. And when it becomes large enough to swallow a ship, our seafaring friends call it a maelstrom.”

She said the word with such finality, such conviction, that Viceglide almost wasn’t going to open his intake again. Almost.

“Still waiting on the-“

“Was that not poetic enough for you?” She— Maelstrom demanded, still smiling. “Tumultuous conflict, swirling tempest with no end, storm everlasting?” Maelstrom propped her chin up on the palm of her hand, and waited, drumming her claws against her visor. “Tell me your name and I’ll make sure the prose is robust enough for you this time.”

He rolled his optics, then in-vented rather slowly. Irritation at himself shot through his spark at the hesitation. He was being ridiculous. Was the galaxy going to implode at the reveal of his designation?

“Viceglide.”

“Viceglide,” Maelstrom said thoughtfully, lingering on the hiss and drawing out the last long vowel, single antenna flicking back and forth. “Hm. Technically speaking, a vice is something that’s constrictive, literally a tool to hold something else in place.”

He was very much getting the sense that she was now talking either to herself or the open air, rather than directly to him.

“On the other servo, a vice is still something constrictive, in a different sense. The clutches of a bad habit, something… wicked that ensnares one in its grasp.”

Had the words been spoken with any tone other than her captivated, fascinated appraisal, Viceglide would have been offended. Instead, he sat forward, bracing his elbows on his knees, and listened.

“Juxtapose that with the smooth freedom of motion the word ‘glide’ indicates, and you, my friend, are a lovely little contradiction. Transfixing others in the debauchery of your choosing, while leaving yourself free-”

Maelstrom stopped herself short, and drew back the servo she had raised to the heavens in her description.

“Ah— but I’m extrapolating, aren’t I.”

“It wasn’t terrible,” Viceglide admitted, smiling in spite of himself. “I’ve been described with words that were far less kind.”

“Then that certainly is a shame,” Maelstrom said, her own smile stretching. “because you’re the only mech I’ve found myself wanting to speak for more than a few nanokliks.”

There would always be more battles, there would always be more energon to wash away. But conversation, camaraderie… those weren’t things Viceglide was so eager to abandon.
