Marcasite (Pyrite), Opal, Pearl, Silver Ring 13876-1393
This exquisite cluster Victorian design ring features Opal, Pearl and Marcasite (Pyrite) crafted in Silver.
Details: Opal, Pearl, Marcasite (Pyrite), Silver Ring. Dispatches from a small business in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Size: 17.12 NL / 53.8 FR / 6¾ US / N UK, sizeable (Within reason. Contact seller for information). Weight in grams: 2.2. Condition: New.
Design Area : Victorian. Area Information : The Victorian Era spanned Queen Victoria's rule of England from 1837 until 1901. During this time, a middle class began to emerge, sparking a demand for jewelry in the mass market, jewelry trends often reflected the tone of current events. The era is usually divided into several subsections: the Romantic Period from 1837 to 1861, the Grand Period from 1861 to 1880, and the Aesthetic Period from 1880 to 1901. During the Romantic Period jewelry also featured nature-inspired designs, similar to jewelry of the Georgian era. Frequently, these designs were delicately and intricately etched into gold. Lockets and brooches were popular in daytime jewelry during the early Victorian era, whereas colored gemstones and diamonds were worn during the evening. During the Grand Period jewelry , because the Grand or Mid-Victorian era corresponded with the death of Queen Victoria's husband, many jewelry pieces have solemn, somber designs. Known as mourning jewelry, the pieces feature heavy, dark stones. Jet, onyx, amethyst, and garnet are frequently found in jewelry from this period. Compared to previous periods, Mid-Victorian-era jewelry features highly creative, colorful designs using shells, mosaics and gemstones. During the Aesthetic period, jewelers used diamonds and feminine, bright gemstones such as sapphire, peridot, and spinel. Star and crescent designs as well as elaborate hat pins were also popular. Some scholars believe the aesthetic era began sooner, in 1875, and ended as early as 1890.. Materials : Marcasite (Pyrite), Opal, Pearl. Material Information : Opal Opal is one of nature's most stunning contributions to the world of gemstones. A unique composition of microscopic cristobalite spheres arranged in layers within an amorphous hydrous silica jelly comprises opal's unique crystal habit. Light refracted by these spheres, in some varieties, creates an amazing array of vivid colors referred to as play-of-color. This play-of-color is what makes opal such a beautiful and desirable gem. Pearl All pearls originate in mollusks (mollusca), whether natural or cultured. Mollusks are a phylum of invertebrate animals that includes oysters, clams, mussels, snails and octopus among their approximately one hundred and twenty-eight thousand species, all with the ability to produce pearls. Only a few of these varieties can create gem quality pearls. Marcasite (Pyrite) Marcasite is an iron sulfide mineral with an orthorhombic crystal structure. It is very brittle and unsuitable for jewelry. What we call "marcasite" in jewelry is actually Pyrite - "fools gold" - that has been faceted to imitate diamonds. Popular from around 1700 onward, marcasite is usually found mounted in silver. Because of its golden yellow color and metallic luster, Marcasite has remained popular in higher quality fashion jewelry. In antique jewelry, marcasite can be distinguished from cut steel faux gems because marcasites are usually bead or prong-set as a gemstone would be and cut steel is riveted. Silver Silver is a white metallic element, harder than gold, softer than copper and second only to gold in malleability and ductility. Represented on the Periodic Table of the Elements by the symbol Ag, silver is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. Silver is considered one of the noble metals because of it is excellent resistance to oxidation. Historically, silver has played a prominent role in the production of jewelry an objets d'art and is usually alloyed with another metal to harden it enough to maintain the desired shape and details imparted to it.. Size : 17.12 NL / 53.8 FR / 6¾ US / N UK. Gender : female. Weight (in grams) : 2.2. Condition : New. https://www.binenbaum.com/product/marcasite-pyrite-opal-pearl-silver-ring-13876-1393/

Amazing Sulfur
As a tribute to my favorite demon I discovered how cool sulfur is.
Tumblr media
After escaping from a vent, sulfur vapor crystallizes. (from National Geographic article Into the Fire Tubes)
Tumblr media
In Lapis Lazuli the deep blue color comes from a rare form of sulfur radical (meaning it has caught on an extra electron), which shouldn't be stable on earth but is stabilized by its crystal structure. The pigment ultramarine originally came from grinding Lapis Lazuli into a powder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pyrite (fool's gold) and marcasite are both iron sulfide. Lots of minerals and gems are sulfides or sulfates.
Tumblr media
And of course I already posted about blue lava, when sulfur burns at extremely high temperatures.

I DREW THE SQUAD
I think it’s hilarious that Hunter is the shortest one out of this friend trio lmao
Anyway, I dubbed them “The Marcasite trio” bc Marcasite is the name for jewelry made with pyrite and diamonds, and Fine Jewelry trio just sounded dumb

TFP Orion for the character headcanons?
Orion Pax━
Orion loves history. Looooooves it. He's also not generally shy about infodumping random bits of history on top of his friends' heads. Some people hug their friends, some just excitedly regale them with new archaeological discoveries, or some hot take on events that happened four thousand vorn ago, or a neat thing they learned in class that day. Orion genuinely and wholeheartedly loves history, and he frequently forgets that not everyone else feels the same way XDD
The closest thing he had to a parent was his mentor, Stela. She was an old Archivist, who'd had to mostly retire due to progressive spark failure, and she devoted her time to teaching him everything he needed to know about life in the Archives, and a lot more besides. She had a real passion for history as well, so they were quickly two peas in a pod with their heads buried in all sorts of books XD She died when he was a couple centuries old.
Alpha Trion isn't so much a mentor to him as a really benevolent boss. Trion runs the Pre-Imperial History department, which is underfunded and composed of three mecha and a basement office (because Iacon hasn't got a lot of Pre-Imperial history lmao). The Imperial History department tried to tempt Orion into working with them but the distant past is where his spark truly lays! Alpha Trion appreciates his juniors, and he's a good office manager, even if he is a bit slow on replacing their datapoints...
If you take him to a bar and give him a free cocktail, he'll almost always pick a simple mid-grade blend with a pyrite or marcasite solution that makes the drink shimmer when you swirl it. He'll branch out to rutile and sphalerite occasionally, but the simple, understated tastes are his favourites. He fucking hates the thick creamed mercury blends that most of his friends love, he thinks it's far too sweet. XD

Tumblr media Tumblr media
These stones come from the White Desert in Farafra, Egypt. Prophecy Stones are a Limonite & Hematite pseudomorph after Marcasite. Although the original shape remains from Marcasite & Pyrite, the entire mineral has actually transformed.
Metaphysical properties of the stone:
Reciving prophectic messages
Clairaudience
Connection to spirit guides
Visions
Astral travel
Aids in meditation
Grounding
Balence
I couldn't actually find any other info on it that wasn't really new agey sadly

The Timeless Elegance of Marcasite Rings: Why They're an Exceptional Choice
Tumblr media
Marcasite is a rare form of white iron pyrite and is accessible all over the world. It is a well-known material used widely in jewelry among jewelers who continue to make marcasite ring collections, earrings, bracelets, and wedding rings in Centennial, Co.
This material is a great choice from costume jewelry to high fashion pieces, and with the proper care and maintenance, it can last you for a very long time as a timeless part of your jewelry collection.
The benefits of buying marcasite
For starters, marcasite is easy to manipulate. It allows jewelers to easily create lovely designs – like delicate lines and intricate patterns for wedding rings in Lone Tree, Co. Since it’s a fairly simple stone to work with, not much maintenance goes into owning a marcasite ring.
Ensure you follow certain practices, like keeping your ring safe when swimming or showering, and be careful not to sweat it too much. Also, please keep it in a tray while doing outside activities or household chores. Marcasite naturally shines and catches the light easily, which makes it a beautiful stone.
Ways to style a marcasite ring As a casual detail
If your go-to look is a classic t-shirt and jeans style or an elegant dress for a daytime outing, a marcasite ring is a small touch that will make a huge difference. It brings a timeless, effortless feel to casual fashion and makes your look feel even better.
Whether sporting a simple design or something more delicate like a ribbon or rose style sleeve, marcasite, or a diamond ring in Castle Rock, Co can bring something simple and elegant to the whole outfit.
A sophisticated statement piece
If you really want to appear and stand out at an event or even a formal gathering, don’t leave your marcasite jewelry at home. It catches the light and looks elegant; everyone will fawn over it.
Marcasite jewelry can show you something about beautiful fashion and how to dress for any occasion.
Final Word
Victoria Marie Jewelers is a full-service upscale jewelry store that provides concierge services and specializes in bespoke jewelry. They can custom-make jewelry to suit your style and personality and offer you a wide selection from many top jewelry brands.
They don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all, and each piece is hand-made and custom-designed to meet your specifications.
