Seeing this a lot in the indie book market with other authors works (I browse regularly as research for work) so here’s a hot tip for everyone out there. If you pick up a book that is clearly labeled YA/NA as the genre. And you give it a 2/5 star review, and your only critique is “I couldn’t connect to it because it’s a YA book”, then you’re being an asshole. You just plummeted that author’s overall ratings, and the books overall ratings, and affected their sales... Because you knowingly bought a YA book and then didn’t like that it was a YA book.
I’m all for leaving poor reviews if the writing is bad, the plot isn’t great, or whatever other reason you’ve got. But please, don’t buy a book that’s directed at a certain age range or a certain genre, and then leave a bad review BECAUSE IT’S WRITTEN FOR THE AGE RANGE THAT IT’S BEING MARKETED AT!
is it true that camille desmoulins said that marat was 200 years ahead of his time. if so he was right. marat should have lived in a time with ibuprofen and twitter
I found something kinda neat at an antique store today...
Still new in it's cellophane packaging, a WonderArt Rick Rack Afghan Crochet Kit from 1970-something. It has it's original sale sticker ($6.88 or around $53 today) even.
The wrapping has a couple of holes in it, so I won't be using it as a display piece in my craft room as originally intended. Time to bust this sucker open and make it!
there's this hoffstrahm painting I really wanna do but I also absolutely Do Not Want to do because the pose is so hyper specific and will be an absolute pain in the ass to get right. Idk the vision is hoffman and strahm facing eachother, sitting so close that their knees are interlocked while strahm very slowly shaves hoffmans face. Strahm looks dead serious and refuses to make any prolonged eye contact (too vulnerable) whereas hoffmans almost boring a hole through strahms head with how hard he's staring at him

'California' haters are too blinded by their Tom nostalgia goggles and went in too ready to hate Matt Skiba's part in it - I truly believe if it had been recorded note for note, word for word, beat for beat exactly the same, with the only difference being Tom's vocals where Matt's are - but otherwise, exactly the same — it would be heralded as their best album since the Untitled.
Now, to be clear, I do love Tom and I'm glad he's back; I also agree that Mark and Matt's vocals were a little too similar, where a lot of the fun of Mark & Tom is the contrast between their voices — but that doesn't stop the fact this is still a Top Five album for Blink and I think the haters are just lying to themselves.
