I read somewhere that The Gusu Lan's simplicity in terms of fashion sense is often overlooked, as it reflects their discipline and resolve towards cultivation. But then I also noticed that YunmengJiang's flashy purples are often overlooked, too. Like, my man Jiang Cheng is the most well-dressed man out there, and Jiang Yanli was always Aesthetic Goals TM. Wei Wuxian may be in his simple blacks and reds, but compared to other sect robes, I find his robes elegant and fashionable.

Although in terms of flashiness, Lanling Jin clan may be the winner, but I find their robes tasteless, with their brand logo in front, like rich people who wear bad fashion as long as the prints louis vuitton or chanel are visible.

But Yunmeng Jiang? *Chef's Kiss* All adaptations understood the assignment that this is the kind of family that supports all the local tailor shops. Each sibling has their own shop because one shop cannot accommodate their NEEEEEED for fashion robes. Meanwhile, Lan Wangji has been wearing the same robes since he was 18. rope dart wednesday 05 - knee shots

ino' suni! im back up to 0.6 wednesdays/wednesday lets go

the knee shot is extremely solid. simple, easy to learn, and lightning fast to unleash on an unsuspecting opponent. it is an excellent choice for a "basic attack" and is one of the most reliable shots i know.

both knee shots begin in alley stance, with the dart spinning downwards on my lead side. i extend either knee into the path of the dart and bring my lead hand down to meet it. the rope twines around my knee, and when i let go a moment later the dart flies forwards, carried by its momentum. giving the rope a subtle push with the knee as it twines will provide a little extra power, though not as much as the foot shot.

speaking of the foot shot, i understated its power in my last post. it's true that most of the energy of any rope dart move comes from the initial angular momentum of the dart, but you can also add energy to a shot by pushing on the rope as it twines. this extra force is applied over a much greater distance in the foot shot than it is in the knee shot, which means the former can be a little more powerful- at the cost of the energy required to move your leg.

troubleshooting:

measure the rope from my hips to just above the ground

make sure im raising my knee all the way to hip height

make sure to almost touch my lead hand to my knee (i did not pay attention to this while filming. turned out okay but could be better in places)

try to place my knee in the same spot with every shot

shooting left/right? check my planes, make sure im bringing my knee to the dart and not vice-versa

shooting up/down? timing issue. keeping the rope length and pivot point consistent will help make the release time consistent, allowing me to build muscle memory

He’s already wearing a skirt and frilly underwear, and if nobody else is around, he’ll start fluttering his lashes and playing with his skirt, asking if you’d like to see what’s underneath now~

Reese: “Fuck you.” He shoves the clothes back into your hands and storms off, hoping you won’t notice how red his ears are. He can’t really tell if you’re flirting or engaging in psychological warfare (he’s trans, and has some… complicated feelings about femininity), but either way he’s both pissed and a little flustered.

I’ve been thinking to much about a modern AU where Grogu is 15 instead of a baby. Luke is a cop and Din is (REDACTED)(literally no one knows what he does. ) or maybe he’s a fire fighter.

Grogu gets arrested because he took Din’s motor cycle out for a test drive and slightly wrecks it. (It’s actually his, but he can’t have until he’s 18).

Luke picks him up and is waiting for him at the police station. He’s there like wow, this kid is literally me when I was his age. But Luke was that way because his father is the police chief, and he was always striving to keep up with him. So hey, maybe Grogu needs someone another parental figure in his life, and Luke tries to bond with him in hopes it keeps the kid out of trouble.

But Grogu is just “What? No. My dad is great. I fucking love my dad.” And “My dad is going to come pick me up, and he’s going to be so disappointed in me. He’ll tell me he’s happy I’m ok, and that he’s disappointed in me. Then he’s going to give me the look, and I’m going to cry…. Then he’s going to call uncle Boba and he’ll be disappointed to.”

When Din gets their to pick him up after breaking several traffic laws in a panic, he looks terrifying. Luke is concerned for Grogu’s safety because this guy looks like he could be in the Mafia. He’s not… probably anyway. But he bee lines straight for Grogu and hugs him. He was so worried he wasn’t even speaking English for at least 3 minutes.

Luke falls head over heels in a second.

got pissed today unable to find nice clothes on swtor so! it's time for more Eight/Echani clothing hcs and a little fashion lesson!

As an echani duelist, I liked the idea that warriors and commoners wear the same everyday outfit with different additions, so of course I had to default to what is worn in kendo/iaido/most japanese martial arts: the gi and hakama. Besides being known as a uniform, it was worn everyday in the Edo period by everyone-- if you were more formal, you would wear more layers over it like the Haori (outer jacket).

The skirt here is the hakama, with 7 pleats that are said to represent the foundation of bushido, or the warrior code. For lorebuilding purposes, and since it aligns neatly with the 10 echani martial art tiers, we can say echani hakama have 10 pleats instead. As for what word we'd call hakama in star wars/swtor...well, let's think of that later. Besides being a comfy piece of legwear, it connects your upper half with your lower with its built in belts and is the place where one puts their scabbard through. Contrary to star wars, swords do not just clip onto any belt and hang vertically down.

The naga juban here is the cotton undershirt worn beneath your kimono to wick your sweat and keep it clean; depending on the martial art, some wear it by itself, and some wear it beneath a gi. As shown in the picture, it is worn regularly with fashion as well. Something to note is that men wear hakama lower on their waist than women, who wear hakama much closer to their chest just like their obi.

As the Echani are matriarchal, I imagine the popular style would be reversed, or that one can choose how to wear their hakama based on gender presentation. For Eight, he would wear it a little higher up to show he retains the femininity of his teachers as an act of respect.

This is a very basic way of tying hakama, women's style: since the side slits here are long, this is a priestess' garb.

Now we come back to the question of adapting this to SWTOR and having a more "sci-fi" feel: while there are countless robes and ways to wear hakama-haori in real life history and SW itself, perhaps for Eight it would be something like a juban woven out of sheer synth-material with a plastic-y shine to it that goes over the top of his revealing bodysuit undergarments and protects from the rain like those clear ponchos, while the hakama is made out of whatever signature black cloth sith lords seem to favor with sharper pleats for an Imperial feel. Hakama in the Taisho period were mixed with military uniform in wartime, so standard military boots won't feel out of place for Eight's as well. Maybe the sheer synth-material juban even turns clear only when hit with moisture as a way of spreading it evenly...

Alas, admin's ideas are impossible to draw, and slightly finicky to describe.
