The little things...

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”   Matthew 6:33 

You’ve probably heard it a million times, but I believe wholeheartedly in the saying, “It’s the little things that matter.”  Of course this doesn’t take away from those big moments of life, but the mountaintop milestones don’t come around every day…but small interactions and opportunities to pass and receive love are always there.  The words of Christ above in Matthew reflect upon the theme of worrying, and how there isn’t any need or place for it, but often times we run around daily stressing about what happened, what didn’t happen, or what may happen in the future.  Jesus tells those who follow Him that He will provide food, something to drink, and clothes…and much more!  

But the key is that you “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”  

I certainly have my own personal struggles, but I will add that they don’t prohibit me from striving to do my best every day to impact someone’s life…and I believe that the best way to do this is by paying attention to every single person, every single gesture, and every single step that I take.  In doing this, God enables me to see things I wouldn’t normally see if I rushed through the sixteen or seventeen hours that I’m awake each day.  To add, isn’t it cool that Jesus uses small creatures and objects like birds, flowers, grass to illustrate His point?  All things that are numerous in the world, things that we may not give a ton of thought to…but yet, they are all taken care of!

Interesting how this whole week God has been talking to me about the same thing and I didn't realise it till today.

He loves me too much to watch me destroy my life.

Tho the path ahead isn't easy, if this life is truly His, He will protect me and guard me as I surrender and learn to walk in trust.

Help me Father, for I am weak.

YES I AM STILL LEARNING

It’s not everyday we use a blog header from a post made last year, but. . .

This is a topic I don’t think we can ever exhaust. Seeking God is a cornerstone of practical Christian faith, and I definately think I have learned some more on this,

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness... 

So look for it in the coming weeks for me to elaborate a little more about what I mean. 

I am trying to reconfigure how I blog online, being that my life can now allow it again, and my fingers seem to be charged with some kind of eagerness to type something. 

Once I get the kinks worked out, I imagine this will be an excellent conduit for writing the things that I have been learning, and possibly a good place to let sermons form, but I guess we will just see when when we get there, as I’ve always (not quite always) said.

Who Is in Control?

The future is uncertain. We don't

have control. Does this make you

feel uncomfortable? Without a

100% guarantee that your way will

prevail, you worry, you fear, you

panic. But God will not forsake us.

Are you tired of allowing fear to

control your life? Are you ready

for a new life? A new life starts

with confessing this truth: "There

are some things in life I have no

control over."you don't

To keep fear from overpowering

you, something else must take its

place. We have determined you are

not able to control everything. So,

if you aren't in charge and

want fear to be in charge, your

only real option is to give God that

control. Thus, the first applicable

truth you can walk away within the

journey to freedom is this: you are

not in control; God is. Trying to put

your arms around something you

were never designed to hold is a

futile effort. No matter how long

your arms are, they will never be

long enough to stretch around the

uncertainties of tomorrow.

You were created to trust in the

Creator. Release control to the One

who controls the universe.

How do you feel about your future?

Be honest. Confess. How does

knowing God will not forsake you

effect how you feel?

may not be easy to accept the

fact that you cannot control every

aspect of your life. Jesus said,

"So I tell you, don't worry about

everyday life – whether you have

enough food, drink, and clothes...

Why be like the pagans who are

so deeply concerned about these

things?" (Matthew 6:25, 32).

Did Jesus say we are like pagans

when we worry? Yes. He wasn't

harsh when He said this. Instead,

Jesus was encouraging us not to

be like people who don't have God.

Jesus was saying, "Your heavenly

Father already knows all your

needs, and he will give you all you

need from day to day if you live for

him and make the kingdom of God

your primary concern."

(Matthew6:32-33).
