Some amusingly cheesy dinosaur effects can't really make up for this movie's many shortcomings - the terrible pace, poor acting, dull characters, and the padding, oh, the padding! There's a sex scene in this so long it probably changes the movie's genre to softcore porn, and so dull and repetitive, I ended up skipping past it. I was hoping for some good solid cheese here, but, alas...

Raptor is a 2001 made for video Roger Corman produced dinosaurs on the loose movie with stock footage from carnosaur and recycled music by James Horner from another Corman movie humanoids from the deep 1979,dome of the raptor scenes look like muppets on acid. The T Rex looks ok for the money , two top billed actors are Eric Roberts who is Julia Roberts less successful brother , and Corbin Bernsen who has been in a few Corman movies and the sleazy divorce lawyer on LA Law. The very beautiful Melissa Brasselle, and a familiar cast from many Jim Wynorski movies who used an Alias as director.I guess he was embarrassed like he was when he directed the vampirella movie which was terrible. Raptor has so many mistakes and stock footage from other movies, Roger Cormans way of cutting corners. Well made for video may even be found in the bargain bin at Walmart or the local dollar tree. Take my advice watch it on you tube for free. It is a bad movie but it’s only saving Grace is the James Horner music . And the beautiful Melissa Brasselle as the wildlife officer. She was also in the wasp woman remake and curse of the Komodo 1999 with actress Glori Anne Gilbert who I had met at the megacon convention and did a photo shoot with . Anyway raptor is Swiss cheese and awfully bad.

I might as well post what every other Toronto friend on my friends list is posting about... 

Putting on some cheesy high level monster cheese from New Concorde which was original Carnosaur 4 until they realised some of the same actors that died in the first movie are in this one too.

Throwing out names like New Concorde Jim Wynorski, Eric Roberts , Corben Bernsten and then add names like Melissa Brasselle whose entire career is just movies I would write about.. and Harrison Page from Sledge hammer... how is this movie not pure gold... well its pure gold poop... so thats something ... pure gold poop with claws and teeth... beware beeewwaaare.  Little angry lizard creatures made by a mad scientist and a depressed sheriff and his overly sexy deputy have to stop them. Note I swear the warehouse that the scientist use is the same one from Incredible melting man.. yet i have no info to back that up.

I even feel pretty sure they are reusing footage from the other carnosaur flicks.. including disco raptor and T rex in a tude (if you see it you will know what i mean)... oh wait.. movie is ending... this is so much reused footage... what is this a puppet master movie? Oh well Eric Roberts another day another pay cheque another dino movie.

The Curse of the Komodo (2004)

My rating: 5/10

You can really tell that the director used to work with Corman, it has a very similar vibe to it - a cheap, crappy creature feature, but with some effort and talent behind it. Sets and locations look decent, stock footage is used a lot and quite effectively, and there are even some attempts at character development - which of course didn't stop them from hiring their actresses almost exclusively for blondness and chest size, to an extent that almost feels like self parody. It's still bad, mind, but I've seen a lot worse.

Friends of Prince Charles blasted over plans for a tacky Disneyland

Friends of Prince Charles have been criticised over plans to build a hobbit theme park next to a world-famous castle featured in Harry Potter.

The 12th Duke Ralph Percy, 62, and his wife Duchess Jane Percy, 60, want to convert several acres of gardens designed by Capability Brown near Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, into a theme park with hobbit walkways, climbing nets and a 600-person stadium. 

The proposed attractions have been slammed as like a ‘tacky Disneyland’ and ‘prejudicing’ the area’s historic character by campaigners.

The proposed plans would see a hobbit-themed walkway and climbing nets, as well as an ‘elfic’ village and underground visitors centre built in the area

Planners at Labour-controlled Northumberland County Council are considering the application, which also includes an underground visitors centre, sprawling ‘elfic’ village, and tavern.

The Duchess and her husband, who have an estimated fortune of £315million, have already ploughed £9million into the project, now run by a non-profit charity.

Last year the Duchess claimed she had been discriminated against when her request for a £25million grant from the Big Lottery Fund Living Landmarks initiative was refused. 

The couple were also disappointed when a council loan of £8.5million for the project was withdrawn in 2017.  

The accompanying planning application with the council was scrapped, but it has been resubmitted with no financial support being offered by the authority.

The park will also include a chapel and 600-person stadium built on the gardens designed by Capability Brown

The charity plans to convert several acres of the gardens into what will be called the Lilidorei Play Village. 

It claims the project will boost the local economy by £236million and create 123 full-time jobs, but residents and environmentalists oppose the plans.

A resident, who has lived in the town for more than 40 years, said: ‘I have great admiration for the work the Duke and Duchess have done for the local area but I feel that this is a step too far.

‘The castle is an iconic image in Alnwick but it’ll be muscled out by this Hobbit village. We’re one step away from having rollercoasters whizzing past the castle gates.’ 

David Wearn, who also lives in the area, said ‘the proposed development, which entails the conversion of an existing Capability Brown heritage landscape into an amusement park should be illegal’. 

Friends of the Earth Alnwick said the project will ‘seriously prejudice the local character of the area.’

They said the town, which attracts thousands of tourists each year, would suffer from increased traffic, noise and light pollution from the theme park, and raised concerns that it could open the door to ‘further housing development in the parkland’. 

Previously, Mark Brassell, CEO of the Alnwick Garden said the play village would be ‘an international attraction to the UK’.

Alnwick Castle is world-famous after being the setting for Harry Potter’s Quidditch lessons, and a backdrop in TV comedy series Blackadder.

The gardens, that sit next to the castle, were redeveloped by the Duke and Duchess in 1997.

William and Harry attended the wedding of the Duke’s daughter, Lady Melissa Percy, and Princess Charlotte’s godfather, Thomas van Straubenzee, in 2013.

The marriage ended in divorce three years later after the couple separated in October 2015. Court papers mention Mr van Straubenzee’s ‘unreasonable behaviour’.

Mark Brassell, Director of the ‘The Alnwick Garden Trust’, said: ‘These descriptions of Lilidorei are way wide of the mark. Public support for the project at the time of the successful planning application was overwhelming. 

‘The Trust worked closely with Historic England at all times and we’ve been clear that Lilidorei will be constructed sensitively and in harmony with its surrounds, including using locally sourced materials and craftsmen. 

‘Lilidorei will bring jobs and a huge economic boost to Alnwick and the wider region, and it will bring the magic of play to thousands of children and their parents and grandparents.’
