Jeanette Macdonald wore this incredible headdress as Marcia Monay in the 1937 film 𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. It was spotted again in the 1939 film 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒌𝒂, where Ilona Massey wore it as Lydia Pavlovna Marakova.

This beautiful velvet gown, likely designed by Robert Kalloch for Hedy Lamar's Lucienne Talbot in the 1942 film 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅𝒔 went on to be used in at least two promotional photo shoots for MGM sometime later in the 40s – one with Ruth Brady wearing the piece, and another with Marilyn Maxwell.
