These are characters who were either explicitly stated to be members of the JSA, or very involved with the team to the point that they're basically a member (mainly applies to Thunderbolt). Some are in a grey area due to retcons (such as Hippolyta) or were barely involved with the team, but they still count. Batman, Wonder Woman (Diana), Superman, and Robin have been excluded from this tournament to give other less popular characters a fair chance.
These initial matchups were made with a randomizer to be as fair as possible.
Each week, a round of polls will be posted. All polls will be a week long.
Since there are so many matchups to start, Round One will be split into two parts. The matchups are below the cut for those who may have trouble reading the bracket.

More than 100 former national security officials from Republican administrations and former Republican members of Congress endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday after concluding that their party’s nominee, Donald J. Trump, is “unfit to serve again as president.”
In a letter to the public, the Republicans, including both vocal longtime Trump opponents and others who had not endorsed Joseph R. Biden Jr. in 2020, argued that while they might “disagree with Kamala Harris on many issues, Mr. Trump had demonstrated “dangerous qualities.” Those include, they said, “unusual affinity” for dictators like President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and “contempt for the norms of decent, ethical and lawful behavior.”
“As president,” the letter said, “he promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests and betrayed our values, democracy and this country’s founding documents.”
The letter condemned Mr. Trump’s incitement of the mob attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, aimed at allowing him to hold onto power after losing an election, saying that “he has violated his oath of office and brought danger to our country.” It quoted Mr. Trump’s own former vice president, Mike Pence, who has said that “anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be president of the United States.”
The letter came not long after former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, both said they would vote for Ms. Harris. Democrats featured a number of anti-Trump Republicans at their nominating convention last month, including former Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois. Mr. Pence has said he will not endorse Mr. Trump but has not endorsed Ms. Harris.
The 111 signatories included former officials who served under Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush or George W. Bush. Many of them had previously broken with Mr. Trump, including two former defense secretaries, Chuck Hagel and William S. Cohen; Robert B. Zoellick, a former president of the World Bank; the former C.I.A. directors Michael V. Hayden and William H. Webster; a former director of national intelligence, John D. Negroponte; and former Gov. William F. Weld of Massachusetts. Miles Taylor and Olivia Troye, two Trump administration officials who became vocal critics, also signed.
But a number of Republicans who did not sign a similar letter on behalf of Mr. Biden in 2020 signed the one for Ms. Harris this time, including several former House members, like Charles W. Boustany Jr. of Louisiana, Barbara Comstock of Virginia, Dan Miller of Florida and Bill Paxon of New York
Hayden Upchurch passes time. He sends out his radio transmissions, he waits to hear back from someone, anyone, like Connor Lassiter.
masterlist
@schroedingers-kater i always keep my promises! this is v short and basically nothing but i wanted a first try. unwind fandom please speak to me
It’s dark out, but Hayden can’t see it. Not really. He’s been hidden away from the sun, torn away from civilization by the Stork Brigade and forced to live out his days here, cold and shifty and in the dark. It beats being dead or unwound, sure, but there’s not much else to it.
As if he’ll give the rusting place any other sort of compliment. If he’s not talking back to Starkey or trying unsuccessfully to win over some of the other kids he remembers from the Graveyard, he’s back here, prepping another episode of his little talk show, wondering how many Unwinds are actually listening.
It’s a hopeless life, kind of sort of terrible but kind of sort of better than dying, but it’s not like Hayden has any great alternatives. He’s lingered over the door, told himself he’ll go and make it on his own, that his conscience can finally be clean or at least cleaner than it is, but he never takes that final step.
Hayden stays in the storks’ hideaway, and despite all his best bluster, he does not leave it. That’s survival for you, he supposes; even when you hate something, you stick with it so long as it keeps you alive. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you, even when it belongs to some shadowy organization that won’t tell anyone who it is, not even Starkey. Hayden doesn’t like that degree of mystery, but he doesn’t like a lot here, and yet he stays.
It’s more comfortable than the Graveyard, at least. Maybe he’s losing his mind between Starkey’s dictatorship and the uncanny feeling that something out there much bigger and much more sinister than any Stork Club bully is pulling their strings, but it beats roasting alive in a broken down jet.
Hayden wonders if he’ll ever forgive himself for choosing to send his friends from the ComBom to harvest camps instead of dying back there in the overheated metal shell of their favorite grounded plane. There is quite a lot for him to forget, although he can patch over any cracks with some bad jokes and sarcastic one-liners.
The Graveyard was– a lot, really. Good and bad and ugly. It kept him from the parts pirates and the Juvey-cops. It trapped him in one spot and gave him the foolish hope that he could, at any point in his life, stop running. It provided him with good friends to lose to Chop Shop knives.
Still, he misses it whenever he closes his eyes. And, if he’s feeling particularly truthful, he misses Connor more than anything. Connor wouldn’t have put up with Starkey’s sadistic, aggressive nonsense. He would have shut the whole thing down before anyone got hurt, before doctors ended up strung from the ceiling at harvest camps.
If Connor was here, Hayden wouldn’t feel as alone. He doesn’t like it. Gives him the shivers. Hayden can push away everyone in sight, can laugh and scream over his own bitter, jaded jokes, but it’s not enough. Every comedian’s better when they have an audience, and Connor listened. Even liked him better than the rest. You feel something like that and argue that you wouldn’t miss it when it’s gone.
Connor isn’t here, though, because Connor’s clever, more clever than Hayden, and he found out a way to save himself without getting stuck under the bloody thumb of Mason Michael Starkey. Hayden has no idea where he is at the moment, but, swiveling back and forth in his chair before the computer no one should let him near, he simultaneously hopes it’s close enough to touch and far, far away. Far enough away that he won’t get stuck in Starkey’s grasp. Near enough to save Hayden before he has to do something troublesome like save himself.
Hayden nudges the computer, blinking in the sudden blue glow of the screen. He navigates to the recording app, clears his throat, and presses play.
“This is Radio Free Hayden,” he begins, “and any Whollies, if you’re out there, I hope you’re listening hard.”

Most frequent fronters above the cut, less frequent ones below!
Echo - 🦊
Echo is our primary gatekeeper. They ageslide very frequently, but typically stay in the range of a middle. They use they/them and identify as nonbinary and aroace. They adore foxes, and the colour green. Sometimes, even just seeing a picture of a fox is enough to get them into co-front. They love chaos and pranks, and have a secondary role as a chaos holder. They hold a lot of our ADHD too. They also have a habit of befriending absolutely everyone they come across.
Crimson - ♦️
Crimson is Echo's symbiote & protector, and we classify the two as a subsystem. Crimson doesn't identify as a person, but doesn't really mind if you classify him as one. He rarely talks, and typically only interacts with people if Echo is in trouble. His pronouns are down as "he/him + any."
Void - 💜
Void is our primary protector. Xe's known for his loyalty to his family and xeir aggression to anyone who threatens it. Xe can be very cold at times, and typically refrains from interacting with people. He uses he/xe pronouns and identifies as gay (nwlnw). He likes purple and hoodies. You probably won't see many posts from him, but you may see posts about xem.
Lexi - ✨
Lexi is Void's sister, and a very cheerful & happy-go-lucky albeit mildly chaotic alter. She's known as the token lesbian of our system (despite not being the only lesbian) and she's pretty flirtatious. She uses she/xe but doesn't really care - as long as it's not masculine, she'll roll with it. She doesn't have a gender identity label, but she aligns with a feminine gender. Xe likes orangey-gold colours, guitars and sunsets.
Michael - 🧪 or 🥼
Michael J Davis is an immortal scientist, frozen at a physical age of around 28. His mental age is closer to roughly 80 billion, and he's travelled all around the universe in his source. He adores science, and loves tinkering with the science and magic of headspace, breaking laws of physics that wouldn't be possible in the real world and creating new (and usually a little deadly) machines. He's brothers with Clara and has a whole host of kids. He's associated with the colour blue, and he'll probably offhandedly mention the craziest source memories and/or the weirdest advice ever that you've never heard before.
Kaz - 🪼
Kaz is an idiot /pos with a tendency to get in trouble. He's 19ish, and very gay. He's a semihuman, and he likes cyan. Officially, he uses "he/she/they/xe/it/zyr/blyss," but unofficially he likes it when people get creative. When referred to by pronouns that aren't he, it can stop him in his tracks for a second because he's not used to it, but he really doesn't care about what pronouns people use all that much. He'll probably post about his boyfriend, so be warned. /lh. He's also siblings with Void, Lexi, Hayden Jr, and the rest of that family.
Angel Dust - 🌸
Heya toots, I'm Angel. Fictive of Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel, we hyperfixated a lil too hard. I'm pretty source connected and I like sourcemates, but if you're a source connected V then I ain't talkin to ya, sorry. If ya ain't source connected it really depends.
Clara - 🩺
Clara is a lovely, albeit terrifying, lady. She's a doctor and spends most of her time in the medbay, healing people. She's an adoptive mother to Void and Lexi, as well as over 20 other kids. She's a caretaker but can quickly turn more ferocious than any protector if a child is being threatened. She has a strong eastern european accent (most likely derived from the body's parents) and takes on a motherly, caring role. She identifies with she/hyr pronouns and is somewhere on the aroace spectrum. She likes faded dark blue colours, and also happens to be Michael's non-biological little sister.
Nick - 🎗️
Nick is Michael's lab partner (..they're gay.) and he spends most of his time in the lab. He has amateur fire powers and is fireproof to an extent. Originally, he's a hero!Sapnap fictive from one of those vigilante AUs, but he's very source seperated. He uses most masculine and androgynous pronouns, and likes when people try out new neos for him. He likes the colour orange and he's around 30 years old.
Celskar - 🫧
Celskar uses any pronouns, and he likes neopronouns. He and Michael are queer. He likes shimmering colours, and his favourite is a shimmery purpley-silvery-blue. I'm not putting too much about him here as he's very source-connected and I don't want to put stuff about his source without consent.
Orion - 🪽
Orion uses he/xe/other pronouns, and is associated with pale orangey-yellow colours. He's a self-branded fuckboy, and flirts with almost every alter in our system above the age of like 20. He's a mortal turned immortal, and his physical age is somewhere in the mid 20s. While he can come off pretty strong, he does respect boundaries and will stop flirting with someone if they tell him to. He has desaturated blue hair and gold eyes.
Hayden Jr - 💠
Hayden Jr is the host of a subsystem and the younger brother of Void and Lexi. They're genderqueer and on the aroace spectrum. They like blues and greens, but when picking a colour they tend to lean towards light blues.
Fran - 🦌
Fran is an absolute sweetheart. They're genderfluid, and in their mid 30s. They have a sanctuary-like area and take care of all littles without parents. They often help Clara with her kids as she typically has her hands full at the medbay anyway. They like dark forest greens, and they're a semihuman alter. They have large antlers with flowers blooming from them and large fluffy ears. They are sometimes a satyr and sometimes have human legs, it fluctuates and they've been seen with both.
Sior - 🐺
Sior is our secondary gatekeeper and an absolute sweetheart. He uses he/they/xe. He's a teenager, and he has a heart made of gold. He's part wolf, part weird-bird-thing, and part human. He will not shut up about the wolf side. /lh. He rambles a lot and often gets sidetracked - probably due to his role as a holder of our ADHD. He has an innersys boyfriend, Zack, and the two spend a lot of time together. He's also the son of Celskar and Mateo, but you probably won't hear much about Mateo as he rarely fronts.
Zack - 🛡️
Zack is pretty much the polar opposite of Sior - quiet, focused, and pretty introverted. He loves art and values his alone time just as much as his time with people, though he often lets Sior intrude on both. He usually takes co when Sior's fronting to make sure he doesn't get himself into any trouble. He's the son of Harry D, and the two can often be found playing cards or chess in their common area's lounge.
Katris - 🪄
Katris is the most powerful magic user in our system. He's also 15. One of Michael's kids, Katris is adept at magic and can often do complicated spells that fix things others didn't even know could be fixed. Michael often allows him to help around the lab, and sometimes he can be found helping Clara in the medbay. Now and then, Michael and him can be found watching movies or training together. Katris uses he/they pronouns and is on the aroace spectrum.
Charlie - 🐏
Charlie is a "weird goat - fairy - thing." His pronouns are "he/him but funky," and everything else about him is pretty much just as odd. He improv-swears when stressed and tends to be on the anxious side. He's very gay for his boyfriend(?) and he gets hyper easily. He's on the younger side, around 16 or 17, and he's associated with dark maroon colours.
Lacey - 📋
Lacey is pretty serious, and tends to seem strict. She wears her hair up and has dark glasses as well as a black mask. She's often found hanging around Kaz and Charlie. She uses non-masculine pronouns.
Davina - 💎
Davina's genderfluid, but typically aligns with femme genders. When talking about her and not knowing which gender she currently is, she prefers people use she/they. She's twins with Devin, though he's technically older by a day since she was born just after midnight - a fact he always holds over her. She's very kind and caring in general.
Elliot / Dream - 🟢
Elliot is a fictive from the series Since I Saw Vienna (I'll put down my roots when I'm dead & sequels). He is not c!Dream, or cc!Dream, do not treat him as such. He's decently source connected and doesn't mind talking with sourcemates. He's brothers with our Aftershock fictive and friendly with our Vincent fictive (both from the same source). He fronts now and then but typically prefers to mask as other alters or leave himself down as blurry or anon.
Vincent - 🎶
Vincent is a fictive form the same source as Elliot. He's Aftershock's dad, and the two are very close. He uses he/him pronouns but doesn't mind if people use they for him. He's a protector and takes care of people who aren't able to take care of themselves. He's very dad-like and gets overprotective easily. He's in his 30s.
Vi - 🧤
Vi doesn't front much, but she's still around a lot, and people probably will mention her. She's a fictive from Arcane, and while she has a lot of source memories she isn't super connected to it. She's dating our Caitlyn fictive from the same source, and she helps Clara out around the medbay a lot. She uses she/xe pronouns, and is okay with sourcetalk, but asks you don't presume she's exactly like source - she isn't. She doesn't like talking to source-connected Silco introjects, but if they aren't source connected then she's completely fine with them.
Technoblade - 👑
Technoblade uses he/him pronouns. He doesn't front much, but he's very protective over his little sibling (Echo). He's a fictive from an antarctic empire fic, and is really close with a Phil from the same fic.
There are a lot more, but if any others start fronting more frequently I'll edit this and add them! - Echo

Nine of Those 'Intelligence Experts' Who Just Endorsed Kamala Signed False Hunter Laptop Disinfo Letter
The second I read the headline about 700 former national security and military officials endorsing Kamala Harris for president, I thought, “Were any of them the same ones who signed the infamous, duplicitous letter in October 2020—right before the election—that claimed Hunter Biden’s lurid laptop was likely Russian disinformation?”
It was a lie, and many if not all of those 51 “experts” knew it. To this day, most make no apology for their attempts to gaslight the public and affect the outcome of a presidential election:
Disinformation: No Shame: Intel Officials Who Signed Hunter Laptop 'Russian Disinformation' Letter Call It 'Patriotic'
Response From Intel Letter Signers Tells You Everything You Need to Know
Not surprisingly, the answer to my question above is “yes.” Nine of those miscreants signed on to the Kamala Harris endorsement. Not surprisingly, one of the most dishonest men in public life is one of the them—none other than former CIA Director John Brennan. He’s joined by his equally ethically challenged cohorts, former CIA Director Leon Panetta and former DNI James Clapper. Here are all nine:
former Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper
former CIA Director Michael V. Hayden
former CIA Director Leon E. Panetta
former CIA Director John Brennan
former Acting CIA Director John E. McLaughlin
former CIA chief of staff Laurence M. Pfeiffer
former Department of Defense chief of staff Jeremy Bash
CIA chief of station John Sipher
former National Intelligence Council Chair Gregory Frye Treverton.
A regular rogue’s gallery. Note how many of them are CIA, by the way. This and the endorsement by the IRS union really show you the type of people who want Kamala to be president.
As my colleague Ward Clark wrote in his story about the Harris endorsement, titled appropriately enough, “Clueless or Deluded? 700 'National Security Officials' Release Letter Endorsing Kamala Harris”:
Bureaucrats, it should be noted, always favor more and bigger government, and honestly, that's all Kamala Harris has to offer these people. And that is, for a bureaucrat, enough; and the fact that none of the people involved in the drafting of this letter a) think Kamala Harris is "serious and capable" when she is so sadly and obviously neither, and b) they don't understand that the United States is not a democracy - well, that tells us all we need to know about these people.
He’s right. People often talk about the deep state or the administrative state, and I admit that when I first heard those terms, they sounded a little conspiratorial. Since the arrival of Trump, however, we have seen over and over that it is indeed a thing, and it is dangerous. For instance, we don’t even know who’s in charge of the country right now—we know it’s not Joe Biden, who can’t even remember who he’s standing next to. It’s not Kamala Harris because she couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
People like Brennan, Clapper, and Panetta have shown repeatedly that they're shameless hacks willing to say anything to accomplish their goals, regardless of whether there’s any truth to their statements or not. Of course they endorse Harris—they know she’ll never hold them accountable for anything. The other guy in the race, however, would be decidedly less friendly toward their antics were he to get back in office.
Bailey: Growing up in the 50s and 60s people believed in the American government. In the 2020s that completely changed because we now know all they do is lie, cheat, and steal.
Biden Jr. in 2020, argued that while they might “disagree with Kamala Harris” on many issues, Mr.
The letter came not long after former Vice President Dick Cheneyand his daughter, former Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, both said they would vote for Ms.
Boustany Jr. of Louisiana, Barbara Comstock of Virginia, Dan Miller of Florida and Bill Paxon of New York.
In their letter, the Republicans acknowledged concerns about “some of the positions advocated by the left wing of the Democratic Party,” and some of them have been quite critical of the Biden-Harris administration. Just last year, Mr. Zoellick wrote a newspaper essay eviscerating Democratic economic policies. But the letter said that “any potential concerns” about Ms. Harris “pale in comparison to” those over Mr. Trump.
Self reward is very important. Some indulge themselves with shopping, or with a glass of champagne, or chocolate...
Thank you General Michael V. Hayden for the award, I feel honored to receive it from you.

So I decided to do a little research into the $750/day figure I’d heard a private company was charging the US government per each detained migrant child. I wanted to, with my own eyes and brain, 1. verify this figure was accurate; 2. verify it was indeed a private company instead of a non-profit charging this, if true, as both have managed these detention centers (not that it really matters, ultimately, but stay with me); 3. try to figure out where this per diem sum — more than my monthly mortgage — was going, if not to even buy these tortured children toothbrushes and soap, which are about the cheapest basic necessities on the market, and which no individual has to replace every day.
$750/person A DAY should cover a lot of necessities, right? Right. So where the hell is all this money going? This can’t be true...
Well here’s what I found:
1. Yes, it’s a private company called Comprehensive Health Services (a subsidiary of Caliburn International). CHS operates the largest child migrant detention center, which is in FL and was already getting horrible press — especially from local FL papers — last year. But that didn’t matter, because CHS recently opened up a few more child prisons in TX, as it snagged a new government contract, despite many documented concerns about conditions there.
2. $750/day per child is an accurate sum of CHS’s CLAIMED operating costs, and what our federal tax dollars are paying for. A sum that was agreed to upon award of the contract. In fact, it was actually on the record as $775 last summer.
3. So where is this money going, you wonder, if not to soap and toothbrushes? Yeah, I did too, and it was quite easy to dig up. CHS, via Caliburn, is controlled by the private equity firm DC Capital Partners. For those of you who don’t know how private equity firms work, look it up, or ask me in the comments.
4. While I would not be able to find out vested shareholders in the DCCP portfolio, we do not have to assume they’re making some nice returns on these CHS operations and government contracts that line their pockets instead of covering even basic human needs for children. That’s clear, because why would a private company keep their costs down so low that they completely disregard humanity, even though they say they’re experts in “healthcare?”
PROFIT. FOR THEIR PRIVATE INVESTORS.
5. While I can’t name for you the private investors getting rich off of this humanitarian crisis, I can name for you members of the advisory board of DCCP, which approves everything in the portfolio.
First up: Trump’s former Chief of Staff, John Kelly, who was named to the board LAST MONTH, and photographed riding a golf cart into a CHS child prison. So with his own eyes, he saw the conditions there. And he was cool with it all, because hey, there’s money to be made for his rich investor friends, and maybe even himself! Who knows! Can’t say for sure, so feel free to reasonably assume what you wish. I’m just stating facts here.
Coincidentally, prior to joining Trump in the WH, he was also a paid lobbyist for DCCP. Hmmmm...
6. So next up on the DCCP board: Richard L. Armitage, former U.S. deputy secretary of state; Michael Corbin; former ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; Michael V. Hayden, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and of the National Security Agency; Donald M. Kerr Jr., former deputy director of science and technology at the CIA; Anthony C. Zinni, former commander-in-chief of the U.S. Central Command and former U.S. Envoy to the Middle East; and Stephen F. Loftus, former director of the Office of the Budget for the United States Navy.
Are y’all seeing any patterns here?
7. Michael Hayden, last June, said on the record he sees “commonality” between Nazi Germany’s separation of children at concentration camps and the Trump administration policy that is forcing children to be separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.
"I know we’re not Nazi Germany, alright. But there is a commonality there, and a fear on my part ... We have standards we have to live up to,” Hayden told CNN’s “New Day.”
It appears he left those standards at the boardroom door, along with many other individuals that dance with greed and corruption on the line of the private and public sectors COMPLETELY UNCHECKED.
8. Last month, the same month Kelly got his new gig, the government awarded CHS a brand new, hush-hush contract worth $341 million, even though there had been tons of pressure to close it due to its conditions.
THERE WAS NO COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE CONTRACT, and it happened under the radar.
9. Just two months before this, in March, CHS/Caliburn cancelled its IPO after registering with the SEC to sell $100m public shares. The CEO cited “market forces,” yet made it clear the company was thriving and growing.

I’ll leave you to come to your own conclusions about all of this, or do more research. And I’ll post a ton of sources in the comments for those who actually think this administration is “draining the swamp,” or who want to debate the semantics of whether these ”centers” can reasonably be called child concentration camps or not without offending some non-brown people.
And for those of you who think children don’t deserve the most basic human rights because they’re not American: There’s a special place in hell for you, and I imagine hell to be a whole lot like this situation.
For those of you who are cool lining the pockets of private citizens in DC with YOUR tax dollars while dirty, hungry, sick children live imprisoned and stacked in cages without even a dime of your money going to pay for soap and toothbrushes for these kids like it was supposed to: I’m ashamed to share this country with you as legal citizens, and I think you’re disgustingly dumb. We failed you, too, but at least you got to go to school when you were a kid, and didn’t spend childhood dying in a cage.
America, NONE OF THIS IS OK. WAKE UP.

FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE (!!)
1. As mentioned upon writing this, I originally posted my sources at the beginning of the comments thread at time of publishing -- before it became a large discussion. For your convenience and further reading, I am now moving my sources here + some extra homework for everyone to do (no particular order):
The people have spoken, so hope that helps you all wrap your minds around this in a more complete and credible way. Thank you to all who have participated in civil dialogue and shared this post. Let's keep it constructive, as we do not need to be even more destructive than the current situation.
2. THE POST IS ALREADY PUBLIC + SHAREABLE. Please do not ask me if you can share it -- I made it public, which is why you can see it. You should be able to share the original version. If you can't, refresh your app, run your updates or make sure you aren't still viewing a friend's protected share of the original itself. There is no possible way I can instruct all individuals on how to share it -- but I appreciate all of you who are moved by these words, and want to raise awareness about this distressing situation.
3. Your concern has given me hope. Do your homework. Look into your group investment portfolios, pensions, etc. Know where your money is invested. Call your legislators. Do anything but freak out to the point of being unproductive and histrionic. DO ANYTHING BUT BE AWFUL TO EACH OTHER.
