McFrühstück: das dynamische Duo

Wie wir ja bereits wissen, kann man über das “Restaurant zur goldenen Möwe” durchaus geteilter Meinung sein. Für machen ein totales “No-Go”, für andere ok und wieder andere gehen sogar gerne und öfters hin: zu McDonalds und zu McCafé. Kürzlich machte der Burgerbrater mit seinem neuen Frühstücksprogramm von sich reden – und spaltete meine Leserschaft. Trotzdem kein Grund für mich, mich nicht noch…

Froot Cups is a dessert shop with some Mexican flavors. Choose from mini pancakes, Dole soft serve (four flavors a day), fruit cups, parfaits, acai, and smoothies. There’s a wide range of toppings to choose from or you can choose their signature combinations.

Soft serve: Small ($6.50)/ Medium ($7.50)/ Large ($10.50)

Toppings cost extra, from $0.50 to $2, and include fruits, berries, exotic fruits, seasoning, cereal, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, crumbles, and drizzle.

Pineapple & strawberry Dole Whip ($6.50 + $0.75 for strawberries + $1 for hemp seeds): The soft serve portion was generous but I didn’t get more than one strawberry. I did get a good amount of hemp seeds. The soft serve texture was nice – very smooth. Both flavors had some tang. They are non-dairy, so they’re not creamy, but they didn’t seem overly icy either. However, the strawberry soft serve did not taste like real strawberries. Both flavors had an artificial aftertaste. The creation looked very nice.

Service was friendly. She provided samples of all the Dole Whip flavors. However, the employee insisted that Dole Whip is frozen yogurt. It has no live and active cultures. It is not froyo.

The interior is simple but cheerful, with bright orange and blue walls. Froot Cups is in a small strip mall with its own parking. They have a rewards program.

I bought this kitchen toy to make mini pancakes. A little pricy and it’s really designed for making Takoyaki. Stay tuned, I will attempt to make takoyaki in the future.
