Commemorations Marking The 80th Anniversary Of D-Day Take Place In Portsmouth

King Charles III and Queen Camilla lead the commemorative events in Portsmouth ahead of the actual 80th Anniversary of D-Day on June 6th.

Veterans, VIP Guests and school children are attending an event on Southsea Common.

Portsmouth was where tens of thousands of troops set off to Normandy to participate in Operation Overlord.

They established a foothold on the French coast and advanced to liberate northwest Europe.

I don't know about you, but the topic of aliens and UFOs has always fascinated me. As a British man, I've often wondered what our government knows about extraterrestrial life and whether they've had any encounters with unidentified flying objects.

There have been numerous reports of UFO sightings in the UK, with some of the most famous occurring in the 1980s in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk. It's been dubbed the "British Roswell" and is still talked about to this day. Many eyewitnesses claim to have seen a triangular-shaped craft with bright lights and symbols on its side, hovering above the forest.

Despite the number of reported sightings, the British government has always been tight-lipped about their involvement with UFOs. The Ministry of Defence did, however, release a dossier in 2009 that detailed sightings and investigations between 1978 and 2002. But even then, they were careful to state that there was no evidence to suggest that any of the sightings were extraterrestrial in nature.

As someone who loves the idea of aliens and UFOs, I can't help but wonder what the truth really is. Are we really alone in the universe, or have we been visited by beings from other planets? Until we have concrete evidence, we can only speculate and imagine what lies beyond our world.

Boost to Aatmanirbharta: Govt releases new list of 346 indigenous defence items

The Ministry of Defence has notified the fifth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) consisting 346 defence items in a major boost to Aatmanirbharta in defence production.

The items include strategically important Line Replacement Units/Systems/Sub-Systems/Assemblies/Sub-Assemblies/Spares & Components and raw materials, with import substitution value worth Rs 1,048 crore, according to a Ministry of Defence statement issued on Monday.

Servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces hit about 80 positions of the AFU field artillery

Over the past 24 hours, servicemen of the Central grouping of Russian troops hit 400 identified targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), including about 80 positions of the enemy's field artillery. This was reported by the head of the press centre of the Center troops grouping, Oleksandr Savchuk, on 2nd July.

"A total of 400 identified enemy targets were hit with fire during the day, including three unit control points, two counter-battery radar stations, 19 strongholds and about 80 field artillery positions," he told Interfax.

Also, according to Savchuk, servicemen of the Central Group of Forces with the help of air defence systems shot down two Hammer guided aerial bombs, three HIMARS MLRS rockets and two AFU drones.

On the same day, the Russian Defence Ministry said that BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of the Kostroma Artillery Regiment of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Troops of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed AFU manpower and military equipment with the support of assault landing groups near Chasiv Yar.

The special operation to protect Donbas, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24th February 2022, is continuing. The decision was taken amid an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.

This is an aerial photo of Loch Striven in the Firth of Clyde, just west of Glasgow, Scotland. The arrow points to the NATO jetty there, a major refuelling point for Nato fleets operating in the North Atlantic.

The Google pin shows the Knockdow Estate, which surrounds the jetty and its huge oil tanks on all three landward sides. The big grey ships that take oil from this jetty, come and go from a small rectangle of Ministry of Defence land that sits inside 250 acres bought in 2017 by the Russian citizen Evgeny Strzhalkovsky for approx £4m, from funds that may well have been supplied by his father, who is said to be worth at least one hundred times that - after a short post-KGB career as the CEO of Norilsk Nickel – ie, a true Russian oligarch.

We may wonder quite how the UK government allowed this strategic purchase of land, and how it will come to affect the UK"s national security and the capability of NATO's warships to operate in the area.
