I bought a sex toy from this company years ago. Even after my mass purge where I unsubscribed from almost every mailing list in my inbox, I still can't bring myself to unsubscribe from Meo because all their emails are exactly like this. In fact, I'd even argue that this one is pretty tame compared to their usual stuff, and I love it.

Can Tumblr stop sending notifications to us saying "your crush" posted something, trying to inappropriately romanticize friendships or follows? It's incredibly inaccurate and uncomfortable when I'm sitting next to my husband and get a notification popping up on my screen saying that my "crush" posted something. I don't know if you guys are meaning to treat this like some juvenile dating app but if you're going to do that, there should be a way to opt out of it without having to turn off notifications just so that our online relationships are not being misrepresented.

So, as luck would have it, we were just having a conversation about this internally. We agree that this phrasing could be problematic and will be changing it via an update this week or soon after.

But that's not all. To turn off this type of notification, you can toggle the "Recent updates" notification settings in the app to banish updates such as these.

I know this may sound harsh and cruel given... You know, the world we live in. But I do not endorse or proliferate gofundme or other fundraising campaigns for other people. I've been bamboozled in the past. So if I don't know you I am not comfortable with that.

I do, however, think everyone should be charitable. I will instead ask that people that follow me take 10 minutes to find a charitable cause they believe in and put 1-10 dollars towards it every month (maybe more than 10 minutes if you're serious about it, because, again, there are people and groups that are not in need that are acting as if they were). But it's good for your brain to do something when you feel like the world is on fire and everywhere you go the fire extinguishers are sold out. It's not for bragging rights, it's not to clear your conscience, it's not an excuse to not help other people, but it does do some good somewhere.

And, if not money, give some time. It's a bit more valuable than money anyway. And I don't mean a couple minutes here and there sharing posts. I mean try to find something local and see if you can spend an hour helping out each month or maybe every week.

Had this idea of, we’ll say “dramatised” events of last night when for some reason my tumblr got a sudden amount of attention! For someone who only gets at most 2 notifs a month from tumblr, getting 100 in the morning was a real shock! So thanks for anyone who stopped by, and especially thanks to those that ended up following me!

there used to be a green bar at the bottom of the screen whenever you made or reblogged a post, which said "Posted to [blog]" and, if tapped on before it disappeared, took you directly to the post's permalink. I used that a TON, because it allowed me to quickly edit or delete something I posted too soon, without losing my place in the dash.

the new "Blaze" popup has taken the place of that bar, and seemingly no longer functions as a link to the post. it also pops up with every. single. reblog. I do not want to Blaze every post I see. in fact, I am already paying for Ad-Free to block all Blazed posts, and I do not allow mine to be Blazed.

please put in a way to revert the popup back to how it was. the message has been received, my answer is "no thank you", kindly give me my functionality back.

So, first things first. We can say for sure that it should not be showing every single time. There was an issue identified which could have led to this, but it was fixed on v35.4.1 which was released on July 16. It also shouldn’t show for reblogs, so we’ve fixed that, too.

This feature forms part of an experiment we are undertaking for Blaze over the last few weeks, and it should appear once every three posts. Even so, this might be a little much, so we will tweak it and look to reduce the frequency.

We are still gathering data to determine the overall success or failure of the experiment, and we hope to wrap it up soon. At that point, we will know what, ultimately, to do with this feature.

But we appreciate your feedback and hear you loud and clear. You will be the first to know what happens with this going forward.
