I listened to the New Broadway Cast recording of Funny Girl and paid special attention to the songs covered on Glee.

I heard the difference before, but I couldn't put it into words. Thanks to Adam Anders I have an explanation: Glee did pop versions of the Broadway songs.

Interesting: I never liked I Am Women, You Are Man on Glee. It's a rehearsal scene with just a piano – not a pop version. But I like it in the Broadway Cast recording.

It’s nice to get context and learn something new. So thanks to Jenna and Kevin for inviting Adam Anders.

hello! i’m happy to share with you my high school story + hollywood u archive. these are spreadsheets containing screenshots and/or the pdf files of the in-game quests:

they are better displayed on desktop (or in the sheets app). this is a work in progress. it will be constantly updated until both games are fully archived. i have screenshots of most of high school story’s quests, but i’m still working through them. as it is, i have catalogued the main questline for both games.

i have also archived the original android .apk for both games back when the servers were shutdown in 2022. high school story is fully playable, while hollywood u is not due to a server check. you may download them via archive.org:

general instructions/clarifications:

in the spreadsheet, you'll be able to consult the level, name, release date and summary of the quests, along with the link for the pdf of the .lua file. for the screenshots, click on the quest name.

high school story has both screenshots and the pdf files for its quests;

hollywood u only has pdf files; i wasn’t able to get the screenshots while the game was still running, unfortunately;

hollywood u’s main questline is incomplete since the last three quests were not stored locally, so i do not have the files for them, sadly;

this also means some side quests for hollywood u will be unavailable since everything around august 2016 was stored in the server and not locally anymore;

for high school story, i was unable to play some side quests as they were very time specific (e.g. world cup) or they were exclusive partnerships (e.g. lea michelle, monster high, one direction). for those, i will include only the pdf files;

the pdf files are not complicated to read/make sense of, but tell me if you need help or want me to go in depth into the tags.

please, if you're able to provide me with the missing release dates for hollywood u or ANY release date for high school story, do not hesitate to dm me. the same applies for the missing hollywood u quests. i have made a list of them here.

Spring Awakening Broadway: Where Are They Now? (Part 1)

It's been 18 years since Spring Awakening first opened on Broadway and 15 years since the original production closed. I decided to do some digging on what everyone who performed in that production is doing these days.

Part 1 covers the original cast, while part 2 will cover replacements.

Jonathan Groff Melchior

Went on to several prominent roles on TV shows like Glee, movies like Frozen, and musicals like Hamilton (pictured.) He is currently in Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway.

Lea Michele Wendla

Notably starred in the TV show Glee and has released several albums. She was recently seen in Funny Girl on Broadway (pictured.)

John Gallagher, Jr. Moritz

Went on to star in several other Broadway shows including American Idiot. He has released an album under the name Johnny Gallagher. Recently appeared in Swept Away (pictured), a musical based on the music of The Avett Brothers.

Lauren Pritchard Ilse

Has a music career under the name LOLO and was notably featured on the Panic! At the Disco song "Miss Jackson" in 2013.

Jonathan B Wright Hanschen

Had a few acting credits on TV shows like Gossip Girl (pictured), now seems to be pursuing voice over work.

Gideon Glick Ernst

Has appeared in several other Broadway shows and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in To Kill a Mockingbird in 2019 (pictured.) Some recent credits include the movie Maestro and a recurring role on the TV show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Skylar Astin Georg

Has had a variety of screen roles with musical elements, like the movie Pitch Perfect and the TV shows Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Zoey's Extraordinatory Playlist. He currently stars in the TV show So Help Me Todd (pictured.)

Brian Charles Johnson Otto (u/s Moritz)

Appeared on Broadway again in the ensemble of American Idiot (pictured.) Was recently on tour singing backup for Allen Stone.

Lilli Cooper Martha

Has been in several other Broadway shows including SpongeBob SquarePants and Tootsie (pictured) for which she and was nominated for a Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony in 2019. She most recently provided voice acting for the TV series Hazbin Hotel.

Remy Zaken Thea

Has appeared in several off-Broadway shows, most notably Freckleface Strawberry The Musical (pictured.) Now owns a professional tutoring company in New York called Andersen Education.

Phoebe Strole Anna (u/s Wendla, Ilse)

Has appeared in several off-Broadway shows, most recently Kung Fu (pictured.) She is doing a lot of audiobook narration.

Continues to do a lot of TV work, most recently on the show Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (pictured.)

Stephen Spinella Adult Men

Continues to work in theater, film, and TV including a return to Broadway in The Velocity of Autumn and currently in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (pictured.)

Frances Mercanti-Anthony (u/s Adult Women)

Went on to appear in Broadway plays including Jerusalem. Now doing theater education work for organizations like Paper Mill Playhouse, Rutgers University, and New England Music Camp.

Rob Devaney (u/s Adult Men)

Appears to have moved away from acting around 2009 and now has a career in UX design.

Krysta Rodriguez Ensemble (u/s Wendla, Ilse, Anna, Martha, Thea)

Has performed in several other Broadway shows including The Addams Family and the revival of Spring Awakening. She was most recently touring in Into the Woods (pictured) and will appear in the Kennedy Center production of Bye Bye Birdie this summer.

Jennifer Damiano Ensemble (u/s Ilse, Anna, Martha, Thea)

Has performed in several other Broadway shows including American Psycho (pictured) and Next to Normal, for which she was nominated for Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical Tony in 2009. Most recently appeared in Black No More off-Broadway.

Robert Hager Ensemble (u/s Melchior, Hanschen, Ernst, Otto, Georg)

Went on to join the 1st national tour of Spring Awakening as Hanschen. Has since appeared in several other Broadway shows and the national tour of Fun Home (pictured.) He is also writing his own musicals. Siluetas, for which he wrote music and lyrics, will be premiering at Power Street Theatre in Philadelphia this summer.

Gerard Canonico Moritz (replacement), Ensemble (u/s Moritz, Hanschen, Ernst, Otto, Georg)

Was in the show until it closed, by which time he was playing Moritz. Has appeared in many other Broadway and off-Broadway shows including Groundhog Day and Be More Chill (pictured), and is currently on Broadway in Almost Famous.

Why don't they put in a little work to make the podcast good?

Jenna and Kevin said several times on their podcast that they couldn't do other stuff during the run of Glee because they were so busy. Well, that's not entirely true.

Darren was on Broadway for How to Succeed and missed 1 episode. He filmed Girls More Likely during Glee and was flying back and forth between New York and Los Angeles. I bet that made planning the Glee schedule even more complicated. Why was he able to do it? I guess he asked and the producers said yes.

Lea made a movie during winter break and her album Louder on the weekends.

Darren did his Listen Up tour during summer break and he did a lot of other stuff during the run of Glee.

Darren and Lea had both a lot of screen time and a lot of songs. Jenna and Kevin are complaining a lot that they had nothing to do, yet they were exhausted.

Why could Darren and Lea do what Jenna and Kevin couldn't? They should have been even more exhausted than Jenna and Kevin. I guess Darren and Lea were more commited and willing to do the extra work.

In conclusion: It's not really surprising that Jenna and Kevin don't put in a little extra work to make the podcast good.

okay i am COMPELLED by this clip holy shit. i never watched glee but back before i even thought i was queer i read faberry fics (in my head this was scientific research to better understand my queer friends) and i was like oh. well. these are much better written than those other fics with guys in them. this is normal i am straight.

honestly i rly don’t like ttpd so i don’t think of it in overarching themes like gaylorism or not. like, my boy only breaks his favorite toys is gay, i know that. down bad too probably. the imaginary rings line is intriguing but i literally don’t know what song it’s from. isn’t there a line about dolls being beautiful somewhere? i feel like that could be read like models. idk. i know there’s people who say bdilh is gay and good for them. all of this is to say, i get the being disinterested in the aggressive male pronouns. lover is a revelation!!
