Clearly there is an evolution in pop up at usage for the word "facial".

Fangs Fogarty is the one that comes from the Skunk Hill of Montana's youth now. It is somewhat curious Moose is just a nice guy in the creation of Bob Bolling -- carried on to Dexter Taylor here -- and they inserted Fangs Fogarty for any rough stuff -- it is as though they split Moose's personality up into two characters -- Jekyl and Hyde.

"A boy's best friend is his mother." Also note 1949's reference to "Veronica" versus the later "Betty and Veronica". (And who is Archie, the Dexter Taylor Little version moreso than Bob Bolling in shadowing the main line characters, kidding?)

At the point in the story the sequences are off a panel. But you can fill in the panel proceeding the first one -- with that one it is Mr. Westherbee telling her she needs to get her grades up. I guess Hooky Hogan is walking off in the background -- playing hooky as he always did. And we see Betty do a photo-bomb.

I am a little puzzled by why Jughead would come in a disguise that is wearing his trademark identifiable hat.

Now things line up.

After here the two narratives diverge. We actually do not see the next sequence in the first -- just the result. The second one has a page plus sequence with Jughead tripping over his big costume and stilts that Penny gave him and falling on top of Fangs. So the difference is who ends up beaten up. Maybe we can no longer run something where it is just the bully physically assaulting the bullied.

We celebrated the continued existence of apples at the North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville. Juniper delighted in an apple cider donut and an apple cider slushy, but was briefly terrorized by somebody in an inflatable moose costume.

She goes absolutely bonkers for oatmeal.

Juniper learned to walk so that she could dance, which she was pleased to demonstrate at an Umphrey's McGee concert at The Salvage Station.

Her highlight of the week, and potentially the year, was meeting Poe the ferret.

Her daycare curriculum is jam-packed with curious toddler activities, some of which are beyond our comprehension.

Juniper enjoyed a classic brat girl summer, which she'll surely remember forever. Or we will, at least.

“HUNT PLEADS GUILTY TO MARKHAM HOLD-UP,” Toronto Star. February 27, 1933. Page 2.  ---- Remanded Until March 13 in $2.780 Bank Robbery ---- Elroy Hunt, 26, pleaded guilty to robbing the Canadian Bank of Commerce branch at Markham of $2,788 on Jan. 30 last and was remanded until March 13 by Magistrate Keith. Hunt was represented by Austin Ross. M. A. Mackenzie, branch manager, swore Hunt and Frank West tied the staff up, attempted to lock them in the vault and left the bank on the afternoon of the hold-up, being lost night of on Yonge St. at Elgin Mills. The manager told of the chase which he and a customer made after the two men. 

Inspector Albert Boyd and Det.-Sergt. George Tuft told of going to Chicago and arresting Hunt. In his statement Hunt said that he and West "decided to steal a car and get some money," the officers said.. The two men, according to the state- ment, drank some wine and on passing the bank in a car which they stole from Dundas and Yonge Sts., Teronto, decided suddenly to hold it up. 

After the crime they drove Aurora where they abandoned the car on a back street,

Crime Not Premeditated "I did not premeditate robbing the bank or stealing the car," Hunt's statement, said. Counsel pointed out that before the crime Hunt, who was unemployed, had been living at Wellington House. Inspector Boyd said about $20 of the money was recovered. 

Both officers said Hunt was very truthful, giving them full details of the hold-up.

Hunt's previous record included a month for theft of a blanket in the west in 1927, a five-dollar fine for vagrancy at Moose Jaw in 1928 and 30 days in 1929 on a theft charge at Saskatoon. 

Magistrate Keith decided to defer sentencing Hunt until the charge against Frank West, laid by city police, had been disposed of. Both his worship and Crown Attorney C. Frank Moore commended the excellent work of Inspector Boyd and Detective-Sergt. Tuft. 

When aged Arthur O'Kell told Norman Smith that he could not oblige him with any money, Smith rolled him down an embankment at Preston Rd., tore out one of his teeth and threatened to "shoot him" if he didn't "give up his roll," O'Kell testified in charging Smith with assault. 

P.C. Williams of York township police, who picked Smith up on Dufferin St., said that he jumped from the motorcycle sidecar as the officer was starting the machine and was caught only after a chase across a plowed field. 

Smith claimed that he was drunk, and remembered nothing of assaulting either O'Kell or Joseph Watts, a returned soldier and cripple, who claimed that Smith "rushed" him and knocked him down. Smith gave as a reason for his attempted escape from the officer the fact that "I thought he was going to pick me up for a drunk." He was found guilty on both charges and remanded until Friday next for sentence. 

Fined $200 for Still George McFarlane, 21, facing a charge of criminal negligence arising out of the death of Murray Richardson, was remanded until March 21 on bail of $2,000. McFarlane is alleged to have driven the car which struck down Richardson Danforth Ave. early Sunday morning. 

Mike McGee was fined $200 or 6 months and one month for being in illegal possession of a still. R. C. M. P. officers told of finding a complete still, with 25 gallons of mash, in the basement of McGee's home. Mike had never made a cent out of his opposition to the "big distillery companies of Canada." his counsel, Paul Hinds, told the court. McGee, who said he was a teetotaler, declared a "friend" named Jack had persuaded him to go "into the business." 

Remanded for Sentence. Antonio and Armand Prisi and Fidel George, York township youths, were remanded till Friday for sentence on a charge of breaking into a hardware store on Pritchard Ave. and stealing a shotgun, ammunition, flashlight batteries and bulbs, fishing outfits and cash. Most of the goods were recovered in a hay loft on a farm and under the floor of one of the lad's homes, the court was told. 

On three charges of housebreaking, Richard Garner, 16, and a juvenile were remanded for a week and allowed out on their own bail. They are alleged to have broken into York Memorial collegiate, Vaughan Rd, collegiate and a store, police saying jewelry and $8 in cash were stolen from one school and chocolates and other articles from the store.

Slowdive

Commonly identified as shoegaze, Slowdive nonetheless exhibited a broader set of inspirations -- one that spanned four decades, including folk-rock, dub, and ambient techno -- than the majority of their '90s contemporaries. A combination of geographic origin, labelmates such as My Bloody Valentine and Ride, and a sustained predilection for dreamlike harmonies and psychedelicized layers of guitar, led to inevitable restrictive classification. The band's distinctive sound continually evolved from their late-'80s start through 1995, when they closed out their first phase with a misunderstood ambient album that shed nearly all rock convention. Two decades later, while most of the members remained involved with individual pursuits, the band was reactivated for touring and recorded again.

Formed in Reading, England in late 1989, Slowdive originally consisted of Nick Chaplin (bass), Rachel Goswell (guitar, vocals), Neil Halstead (guitar, vocals), Christian Savill (guitar), and Adrian Sell (drums). Goswell, Halstead, and Sell were previously the core of the Pumpkin Fairies, an indie-pop act that had recorded a demo. Savill was a member of Eternal, who released a single on Sarah. Within less than a year, Slowdive signed to Alan McGee's Creation label and released their debut, a self-titled EP of demos. "Slowdive" itself was named Single of the Week by Melody Maker. Morningrise, featuring temporary drummer Neil Carter, and Holding Our Breath, with ex-Charlottes member Simon Scott on board, followed as the band's second and third EPs of sleepy, escapist dream pop. "Morningrise" appeared on the U.K. pop chart for one week (registering at number 83), as did the third EP's "Catch the Breeze" (which entered at number 52). Both songs were likewise praised by Melody Maker. The same publication dubbed Slowdive part of "The Scene That Celebrates Itself," a small and loose conglomerate of guitar bands, including Lush, Moose, Swervedriver, and the pre-Britpop Blur, that could be seen at each other's shows.

Just for a Day, Slowdive's debut album, was released in September 1991. Though it placed in the Top Ten of the indie chart and climbed to number 32 on the pop chart, the U.K. press was not as supportive as it had been in the past. Months later, the Blue Day compilation appeared on the racks. It combined the band's first three singles, leaving off their version of Syd Barrett's "Golden Hair" and the instrumental version of "Avalyn." The band's sound developed significantly for Souvlaki (titled in reference to a favorite skit by telephone pranksters the Jerky Boys), released in June 1993. Assisted by Brian Eno on a couple tracks and mixed by Ed Buller, it was even more atmospheric than the debut, an exemplary "studio as instrument" album of the era, elevated by refined songwriting. Dates with Catherine Wheel were intended to promote the album in the U.S., but snags with Stateside label SBK ensured that Slowdive toured a country where their latest album was available only sparingly as an expensive Creation import. When the U.S. edition of Souvlaki did arrive, eight months after its original U.K. release, it added four bonus tracks, including three-quarters of the 5 EP. Issues with SBK came to a head when the label pulled financial support from a later tour. The band responded by funding a two-week tour themselves and sold a live cassette to help pay the way. Despite poor promotion in the States, the band had cultivated a sizable following through word of mouth and short tours.

The band's third studio album was released in 1995. Pygmalion was essentially a solo ambient recording by Halstead with guest vocals from Goswell and occasional percussion from Ian McCutcheon (ex-Mermaids), though all five members were listed in the liners. Taken further than the ambient techno slant of the 5 EP, it was mostly beatless. Within a couple weeks of the album's release, Creation, who had expected something else, dropped the band. Goswell, Halstead, and McCutcheon swiftly moved on with Mojave 3, signed by 4AD on the strength of a demo that basically became the first of their five albums released through the 2000s. In 2014, Chaplin, Goswell, Halstead, Savill, and Scott -- most of whom had remained active with numerous bands and solo activities -- resumed as Slowdive to play festivals and tour on multiple continents. The quintet eventually made a fourth album, Slowdive, released on Secretly Canadian sublabel Dead Oceans in May 2017. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi.

"’Let's take a quick look before we head home’." 

Ziva imitated Tony’s earlier words and he sighed heavily. They'd been out conducting interviews all afternoon and evening, and Tony had thought it might be a good idea to check a witness story against the location of the murder while it was still fresh in their mind. 

What he hadn't anticipated, of course, was getting caught in a flash flood while trying to get through the national park. They sat stationary in the car at the top of a small hill, looking down at what was more a river than a road in front of them. Behind wasn’t much better, and they’d battled through mud and spinning tyres in the last few hundred metres of the journey.

“C’mon, this is not my fault.”

“No? Who’s is it, then?”

“It was you who told me to carry on after the rangers hut.”

Ziva was silent then, and she nodded her head in consideration rather than agreement. “I admit, I may have miscalculated.”

“’I’m a trained navigator, Tony’.”

“I am, Tony. But I do not need a certificate to tell you that there is no way we are getting down this road any time soon.”

“Let’s just.. calm down.” Tony took a deep breath and smiled cordially at Ziva, which only seemed to exasperate her more. “Get me the number for that ranger McGee spoke to, I’ll tell them what’s happening.”

“What are you going to say – look out the window?”

“Someone got up on the wrong side of bed this morning.”

“I did, yes. That is the whole problem. I have barely slept for 48 hours and here you are sending us on wild moose chases!”

He didn’t correct her, instead taking the phone she offered to him and pulling up the message from McGee with the ranger’s details.

“Well, for what it’s worth, I’m sorry. But really this is climate change’s fault, not mine.”
