📽️ Morbius (2022)
I thought surely this couldn’t be as bad as everyone said it was. Surely there were some redeeming qualities. I was wrong. This movie is so bad. I will say, if you go into it knowing everyone hates it, it makes it more enjoyable. Instead of being impressed, you can just enjoy the story. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a whole lot to enjoy. The dialogue was honestly the worst part of the whole movie. “It’s lethal to bats and deadly to humans.” What? Those are the same thing! It was also predictable, and the CGI wasn’t great. I wanted to be one of the few who enjoyed this, but I can’t say I am.
Sex/nudity: 1/10 (kissing)
Language: 3/10 (two barely audible f words, other milder language used infrequently)
Violence: 6/10 (I’m just going to say yes for this one)
Overall rating: 3/10
Tumblr media
P. S. I find it fitting that it came out on April Fools’ Day.

🌳Trees in the Wind🌳
A Groot x Dominic Torretto Romance by Whitney Van Laningham
Live Reading on NR’s The Break Room - 6/16/2022
Tumblr media
Baby Groot arrives on Earth - 2F2F, a world from other worlds, a multiverse where van Diesel is actually Dominic Torretto, and Paul walker is an immortal being. Tyrese Gibson is still Roman Pierce in every way except that he’s also now the detective/car thief investigating Dr. Michael Morbius.
As Groot grows from baby to a man in this strange new world, he aspires more and more to be like Vin Diesel. After many years, and Hobbes and Shaw spinoffs, later Groot and Dominic meet for the first time.
In what can only be described as a reverse Pinocchio, Dominic wishes that he could be free to sway in the wind like a tree and ask the Gods switch their places by playing Kate Bush Running up that Hill real loud.
The next thing Dominic knows, he has cool tree pecs with intricately woven branches in a braided spiral for nipples. Groot opens his eyes and realizes he has a real adult man nipples for the first time. They high five, but their new nips are in focus so it’s PG-13!

Worst of 2022 Movies #1: Morbius
The Pandemic altered many things with repercussions being felt nearly 3 years later.
One such thing was Sony’s intended universe with their own Spider-Man characters.
Venom 1 and 2 actually gave them a pretty solid footing.
But everything came crashing down with three simple words that are thankfully not in the movie, but somehow a bunch of stubborn fans insist on.
Tumblr media
It’s Morbin Time.
Jared Leto playing the enigmatic Michael Morbius actually has some good heart and could have easily featured in with either Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland‘s respective Spider-Man.
But rewrites necessitated by shuffling due to the pandemic altered this until it was just plain too convoluted for its own good.
When you have somebody who embodies the word vampire, but can only drink synthetic blood all because the movie had to appeal to a bigger audience. It kind of kills the mood.
Even the 90s Spider-Man cartoon actually solve this problem very creatively. Corny but showed Morbius as intended.
Not what we got here, although Matt Smith does make the fun go up a bit.
Tumblr media
Kraven has got a lot of goodwill to earn back after this.
SUM 22: Jared Leto and a hacked plot doesn’t assemble Morbin Time. Only makes for 2022’s Worst Film.

Enjoyable... but predictable.
If this movie was given a higher age rating and a longer run time, it could've been much better.

Morbius is superhero fatigued.
Tumblr media
A human man cures a debilitating deadly illness and a becomes a blood sucking monster. Nobody cares. He kills eight people the police show up not ready to investigate but to arrest they ask a few questions and then try to arrest their suspect. No investigation necessary. Martine's long time crush turns into a blood sucking vampire man bat and she's not afraid he'll drain her or cause her harm shes just curious if he'll burn in the sun. Milo takes the serum without thought of what will happen. It's off screen which is a fun misdirect if there was more to it.
Superheroes and supervillains are so normal in this world that no one really cares about new ones. It's a very "ugh, another one" movie and that is to its detriment. If the characters in the world aren't scared why should I be? Milo and Morbius have a full on super brawl in the subway and the regular citizens just quietly get out of the way. The detectives show up to the scene with dead cops and are so lackadaisical about their brothers in blue being dead you'd think they were enemies.
Also, the romance has no build up and when they finally kiss you wonder why weren't they doing that before? What was stopping them from being together? She clearly likes him and he likes her. It can't be because they work together. Was it him? Is he not dating her because of his illness? The movie needs to say that.
His secret research. Martine never once tries to talk him out of human trials or trying to make him do more experiments on rats. Their was no urgency in him taking the serum. It just happens after one successful test. No waiting to see if the rat dies later or if the rat becomes a super rat, just 'it worked inject me'.
If this movie was a stand alone fare I could understand this world but it's not. Even in the other movies supers and aliens are still shocking. So it doesn't add up that no one cares.
This is what happens when a studio picks quantity over quality. Marvel is just flooding the market, that they cornered. It's not like DC Comics or another popular comics company is competing with them, so we know it's just greed. They make like ten connecting projects a year and people are tired and so are the projects.
It is the most English feeling American movie.

MORBIUS (2022) Grade: C-
Definitely not as bad as I thought it will be. If you were a 10-14 year old, it will be hard not to like it. They try to be different with the action and the cast is good. Slow start & cheesy lines hurt it.

Morbius: Bond of Blood
Tumblr media
Just a fan logo I did for a Morbius sequel with Jared Leto, Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson, and (maybe) Michael Keaton in the near future.
For the record, I actually liked the movie, flaws and all, and I think with its recent success on Netflix, this could actually happen soon. I got the name for it from the 2021 storyline where he deals with the consequences of his first kill as a vampire. Would work pretty well as inspiration to pull from for the possible sequel.
And yes, since I do like the film, do me a favor and don’t come at me with any memes, all right?
Anyway, hope you like it!

Morbius (2022, dir. Daniel Espinos) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
Morbius was just bad. Sloppy, poorly written, poorly shot, just all around not very good. It kind of stumbled its way through its story without ever amounting to much or making much sense. Matt Smith and Jared Harris try to reel it in with performances that seem good in comparison to everything else, but they can't make up for the 1 million problems this movie has.
Score: 2/10
Currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Can we just please, please, stop casting Jared Leto in things? We all need a break.

Morbius    [trailer]
Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.
It feels all a bit worn out and boring. And far too serious.
If it heightens the chances to bomb at the box office for a third time: It's Morbin' time!
