Brainrot Trash Idea about Shin and Baylan
So I've been seeing a fair amount of stuff about Baylan and Shin, and bc I'm a Sucker for Father-Daughter characters, decided to play with a few headcanons. None of which are remotely close to Canon and a few AUs bc I can.
General HC Rambling
* Shin is Baylan's actual daughter. Yeah, I know she's (99%) not in canon but look. The idea of Baylan having and then training his own daughter to be something greater than the Jedi lives rent-free in my head.
* He got Shin from a young age to refer to him as "Master" instead of "Father" for both their sakes. Smother the risk of attachment and keep them both safer should the Empire catch on. (Jokes on him, because both of them are very attached to each other).
(For Shin, there actually isn't a real difference between terms; for her, calling him "Master" is her just saying "Father". He is her father, not her mentor, in her POV. She just uses a different word is all. (Help them, plz)).
* On that not of terminology, been thinking and I know it's probably just a harmless/unimportant honorific, but the fact Baylan has the title of Lord makes my brain go "what if Baylan was actually of noble origins?". Which then shifts into "Shin having a separate last name from her father is due to Baylan gifting her his mother's maiden name, for the same reasons he has her refer to him as her mentor instead of parent". It's also a way, in his twisted mind, to honor his family nobility when he himself failed it (by being a Jedi).
(Also imagine the Skoll/Hati family coat of arms being *wolves*)
* I even got genealogy HC worked out cause- "well Shin doesn't look like Baylan". And yes but hear me out: she takes after another relative of his (sister, mom, aunt, grandmother, etc.). Maybe she reminds him of his mom, idk. But if so, maybe that's why he gives her the surname Hati? As a quiet honoring? Either way, she takes after his family members, just not him strictly lol.
* (I'll be honest, her hair looked dyed and frankly speaking, I do HC Baylan as being a dark brunette before he went full Grey, so not a far stretch to also consider her inheriting his hair at least.)
* Back on the Hati surname, thinking more also led to "its a family name but farther back in lineage before it got changed to Skoll somewhere down the line". Kinda like how the Bakarn family in SWTOR used to be the Bakvalens before it got changed to a more common surname. Either way, the name Skoll puts a target on Shin's back and Baylan isn't taking that risk.
* (Ngl, part of me now wants to play w the idea of Baylan actually being a descendant of the Bakarn family. Idk if he'd be related to Syo tho, for obvious reasons.)
*Regarding upbringing, Baylan was a single dad front day 1, raising Shin on the run. Who the other parent is or if she even has one, no one knows. (Mostly bc I'm lazy and single dad Baylan lives rent free in my head). They mostly drifted from place to place, never really calling somewhere home. Hence another reason why Shin is very attached to Baylan; he's her only source of stability. He is "home".
*Leaving Shin was hard for her, but it was also hard for Baylan. It's not that he doesn't love his daughter. He absolutely does. But he's driven by personal ambition to seek this unknown power on this strange world and that takes priority. And truthfully, it's dangerous. He knows it's dangerous. But it calls to him in a way he can't ignore. In a way Shin can't hear. And if For her sake. Even if tearing away from her rips him in pieces; it's dangerous what he's doing and he won't drag her into it.
(Mentally he tells himself he's doing this all for her. For a better future, for her.)
(Shin, of course, is too attached to her father to actually leave the planet.)
AU VERSE HC
On another hand, been seeing a fair amount of Baylan/Morgan content lately and THAT got me thinking of "Shin is a Baylan/Morgan child". Which...
-Half-Dathomiran Shin. Half-Dathomiran Shin with Morgan's markings.
-Shin whose been raised by a human most of her life, who isn't at all attuned to her Nightsister half. Who doesn't really know Morgan and probably is unaware she's her parent.
-Shin who isn't attuned to her Nightsister heritage, suddenly experiencing summons of green fire and magic when her parents leave her behind for their own paths.
Nightsister-Dark Jedi hybrid class Shin Hati.

morgan rielly should be suspended, there’s no question about that. however, getting an in-person hearing with dops when you’re a first time offender with a clean history (like the spezza situation a few years back) is kind of ridiculous. considering this season, we’ve had: gallagher getting a phone hearing when he lifted his elbow (5-game suspension), dillon getting a phone hearing for an illegal check to the head (3-game suspension) and trouba full on baseball swinging his stick at someone’s head ($5000 fine)…it just doesn’t seem like there is much consistency with the dpos

I find it so funny just how stressed Arthur is during the ‘The Wisdom of the Elders’ side missions compared to others. Poor guy’s just trying to help using, what to him, is basic common sense but gets progressively more bewildered and irritated at these brainwashed hicks. Still doesn’t stop him from trying 🫶

Season 11 is so funny, they clearly put an special focus on Derek and Spencer's relationship as an manipulation tactic cause the former was leaving the show, so the latter's angst can be tastier (they did the same on s6 with Emily) but like- they RAN with it and made it look as if Reid had some sort of unrequited crush on him 💀 and Entropy makes it looks as if it's not actually unrequited- like they are pinning, basically.

okay the basic gist of my rewrite of reids addiction plotline is reid reaches out to gideon and gets brushed off like in canon (in my version it would be very obvious this is because gideon cannot see how bad its gotten cannot face that this is really happening) he tries to get sober by himself like in canon but unlike canon he realizes he just. he Cant do this alone. he needs help. but he cant ask gideon again. he cant ask morgan, jj, hotch, or garcia he cant cant risk losing their respect. so in the midst of withdrawls he calls emily because well, hes already been a dick to her for months so he doesnt have to worry about her opinion of him, but shes also a good person and he knows he can trust her, so he calls her, asks for help, and when hes finally through the worst of it, with the sun peaking through the blinds as they sit on his bathroom floor her feels for the first time like maybe he will get through this
#this is just the portion i vaguely explained to my mom theres more but its like basically just how actually acknowledging reids addiction#would effect the rest of the series#yeehawing#criminal minds#also an important part is that the reasoning behind every character not intervening is delved into#morgans in a similar boat to gideon they just cant see it#deep down they Know but everything they see every sign is pushed down theyre not allowing themselves to see whats really there#it would be too devastating#and jj. again similar boat but she Is consciously aware but just doesnt know how to help#she tried reaching out but she could See his walls go up and she just couldnt risk losing him after all that theyd both been through#so she shut up left it alone and just tried to be around hoping he would ask her for help#garcia didnt know. she could see he wasnt himself and he was struggling but she thought it was all trauma.#thats her boy wonder. he'll be okay. he has to be.#so she sneaks him gifts and treats tells him she loves him and shes there if he wants to talk#but how could he tell garcia sunshine in human form that hes getting high at work and doesnt know how to stop#but then hotch. hotch knows. hotch very much knows.#and hes Heartbroken#but he assumes gideon is helping him. thats gideons job after all. hes reids mentor of course he'll help him#so hotch thinks the best thing he can do is act normal and make sure no one higher up realizes one of his agents is an addict#also emily knows immediately as well. shes the newest member of the team she has the least bias she can really see whats going on#and she knows addiction shes seen it close up#but again shes not close to reid yet so when hes a dick she doesnt take it personally but shes a dick back#because she understands but that doesnt mean she has to put up with that#and she doesnt plan on getting involved doesnt feel like thats something She should do#but when He reaches out to Her? of course shes gonna help#ANYWAYS.#i have Many Thots and Feelings GoodNight

This is gonna be some random rambling of me overthinking things too much for a gacha game that doesn't really deserve that much of my time. Okay so in the second arc of Fate Grand Order, seven bigass trees drop on the surface of the earth and simulate alternate paths of history, from freak ice ages to immortal rulers and superintelligent superhuman(superdino?) dinosaurs. Those trees have to be tended by a mage each so they can grow and establish that simulation as the next real thing™ but actually the plan is for a big surprise to pop up from the tree when it's done. Now, up to around LB5, it seemed like those bigass trees only "arrived" into those simulations alongside the aforementioned mages. Makes some sense, imagine leaving those bigass super magic trees hanging for the inhabitants to mess with. And we see what happens when they do, they're great powerups honestly. So at least two seperate cases the bigass tree is hidden so nobody can mess with it. But then. LB6 and LB7 happen. In those two the tree does exist in the "past" of the simulation and do get messed around with. Now, LB6 is a special case to end special cases with plenty of time fuckery to go around here, so maybe the tree is there cause of said time fuckery. But LB7 has no such time fuckery, and that tree arrived like 300 million years ago. Plenty of time for the authority over there to mess with it (big energy issues over there cause of reasons™) but it doesn't, instead a giant space spider arrived and ate it like 6 million years ago. Bummer for various reasons. Now granted the giant space spider is also super duper special in universe, so maybe it can ignore whatever told the simulated peoples of the first 5 stories not to mess with it. But I dunno. LB6 is a fun story overall, but the specialness of it does end up making me feel a little off. The queen bitch of the place is constantly praised for being absolutely amazing cause of the time travel and other stuff she did with her tree, but it feels like empty praise when the first 5 basically were forbidden from doing anything too different so the last two can be special. It'd be real funny though if they did. Sleepy mammoth probably isn't too good at messing around with the OS of the thing. Lonely goddess gets to maybe fix up her world more and remove a certain horny fire giant from the equation. Who knows what the hell the Chinese emperor would do with his. Indian catboy causes the planet to explode cause oops too many circles. Rich white boy with savior complex ready to thrust the problems of his big brave solutions to the people he forced them on finds that his winning card actually fucked off to space like 3k years ago oops?

Chronically single, you suggest a pact with your best friend to start a family together when you turn forty.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x bau fem reader
Category: fluff/comfort
Warnings: marriage and baby talk, reader is insecure because she feels left out
A/n: This is my entry for the kid fic challenge by @imagining-in-the-margins! This was like a breath of fresh air from all the smut I’ve been writing
Tumblr media
"Do you want to have a baby with me?"
The scalding coffee burned his tongue as your question lingered in the air. Spencer cleared his throat awkwardly and patted his chest, his eyes drifting towards you. "Uh... what?"
"Hypothetically," you replied, the tap of your pen echoing against the round table between you. "It's like a pact. If we're both still single in the future, we get married to one another and, well, start a family together."
Spencer felt the clamminess of his palms as he set his mug down, trying to steady himself. He considered you as one of the closest people in his life, if not his best friend, and he was accustomed to your random questions, but this sudden topic of conversation seemed to strike a nerve.
"Where..." he began, wiping his palm along his pants. "...where is this coming from?"
You shrugged casually, the tapping of your pen momentarily ceasing. "Just a thought. I mean, we're both at that age where these things start to cross our minds, right?"
Spencer swallowed, trying to push down the unease rising in his chest. "Yeah, I guess so," he muttered, but as he studied you, he noticed the tension in your shoulders. "Are you okay?"
Your gaze flickered away for a moment before you sighed, slumping against your chair.
"I have a wedding coming up this weekend." Spencer frowned, not understanding what you were trying to say. You continued, "And another one next week, and guess what? Two of my cousins are getting married next month."
"What does that have to do with...?" His voice trailed off as realization dawned on him. "Ah, I see."
But you weren't finished. Somehow, the thoughts that had lingered in your mind for the past few days spilled out right then and there, in the middle of broad daylight when you were supposed to be focusing on the case you were working on.
"And a close friend I went to high school with just gave birth while another friend from college announced she's two months pregnant. And look at me," you exclaimed, your arms flying around. "No wedding. No pregnancy. Spencer, I don't even have a boyfriend, heck, I forgot what it's like to go out on a date!"
He watched as your brow furrowed into a frown, and although your demeanor was all over the place, he couldn't help but notice how you still managed to look pretty.
"Spence?" You asked, nudging his leg with your foot under the table. "Are you listening to me?"
He blinked, momentarily pulled from his thoughts by your voice. "Sorry," he replied. "I'm listening."
You gave him a skeptical look, but the tension in your shoulders seemed to ease slightly as you leaned back in your chair.
"I just... I don't know, I feel like I'm left behind." You sighed, running a hand through your hair. "I mean, I'm happy for my friends and all, but sometimes it feels like everyone's moving forward but me. Like I'm stuck in this... this rut."
Spencer wasn't sure how to respond. On one hand, he knew how it felt to want something that seemed out of reach, but on the other hand, he felt like it wasn't his place to offer advice when he wasn't even sure what the future held for him.
"I get it," he finally said, trying to gather his thoughts. The least he could do was try to offer some comfort. "But just because you haven't reached those milestones yet doesn't mean you won't get there eventually."
"But what if it doesn't happen? What if I'm still all alone and nobody loves me when I'm gray and old?"
He frowned at you. "I'd still love you when you're gray and old."
"Platonically. You love me as much as you love JJ. Or Emily. Or Penny, or even Morgan." You leaned over the table. "I want to be loved passionately by someone who is head over heels for me, who can't imagine a life without me. I want to feel that kind of happiness."
His frown deepened. "I don't think you should find happiness in another person."
"You're missing the point," you groaned, crossing your arms. "I'm not saying I want to depend on someone else for my happiness. But is it too much to ask for someone to share it with? To feel like I'm someone's everything and not just another friend in the group?"
His expression softened as he listened, a sense of familiarity washing over him. He remembered feeling the same thing once, or maybe more than once; he wasn't sure. He had lost count of the times he felt his life was falling short.
But he realized the more he thought about the why—why was he so different? why couldn't he find love?—the more he felt worthless, and he hated that. So what was the best thing he did to ignore those thoughts?
Bury himself in work, because to him, pushing those feelings aside was easier than confronting them. But now, as he looked at you, it felt like he was seeing his own reflection and your words hit him harder than he expected.
"No," he quietly agreed. "It's not too much to ask for."
"I guess what I'm trying to say is... I'm tired of waiting for life to happen to me." Your gaze slowly met his. "So I came up with a plan."
His throat felt dry as he recalled how this conversation started in the first place. "The... baby plan?"
You nodded enthusiastically, sliding into the seat next to him.
"Think about it. If we're both still single when we're..." You paused, furrowing your brow as you did a quick calculation. "Forty? Yeah, let's say we're both still single when we're forty, with no partners, or like, no friends with benefits?"
You shook your head.
“Just... with no one in our lives—we get married. You and me."
He blinked, trying to process your proposal. It was unexpected, to say the least, but there was a strange logic to it that he couldn't quite shake. The idea of marrying his best friend as a backup plan was both absurd and oddly comforting.
"But what about... love?" he asked cautiously. "Wasn't that what you wanted?"
You paused, considering his question before responding. "I mean, I don't think it's impossible," you said, leaning back in your seat. "Haven't you ever heard of the saying, 'Marry your best friend'?"
His gaze lingered on you, his heart beating hard against his chest. "You're saying that we can fall in love?"
Your eyes met his, and a small smile tugged at the corners of your lips. "Who knows?" you replied softly. "Stranger things have happened."
Spencer shouldn't entertain the possibility. After all, who knew what could happen in the future? It seemed like an absurd thought, but as he stared at you, it was hard not to imagine a life with you as his wife.
He imagined you in a white dress, walking down the aisle towards him with a radiant smile on your face. He pictured you both in the house you had just bought, dancing joyfully around the empty rooms as you unpacked boxes together.
Then thoughts of you being pregnant with his child—or maybe even children—filled his mind, and he envisioned a future where your kids would run around in the backyard with a pet dog trailing behind.
And then he considered the prospect of growing old with you, watching as your children eventually started families of their own while you found comfort in each other's company. All of these possibilities didn't seem so bad, because if anyone could understand him on a deep level, it was definitely you.
Maybe this crazy plan of yours wasn't so crazy after all.
"I... I guess it's not impossible," he finally admitted. Then, not wanting to seem too eager, he added, "Hypothetically speaking."
"Of course," you replied with a smile. "Hypothetically speaking."
Suddenly feeling flustered by your gaze, Spencer looked away and focused on his coffee, bringing the mug to his lips. Then you heard laughter and footsteps drawing closer, and soon Derek and Emily entered the room. Their eyes immediately landed on the two of you, sitting closely together at the table.
"What are you children whispering about?" Derek's voice interrupted, his eyebrows raised curiously as he glanced between you.
You didn't miss a beat. “Spencer and I are having a baby together."
Spencer choked on his coffee, his eyes widening in shock as he coughed and sputtered. You quickly moved to pat his back.
"Well, we're gonna get married first, right, Spence?" you added with a grin, glancing at him expectantly.
Spencer finally managed to regain his composure, clearing his throat awkwardly as he shot you a sideways glance. "Um, yeah, of course," he stammered, his cheeks still tinged with embarrassment. "Hypothetically."
Derek and Emily exchanged bemused glances, a silent conversation passing between them. Emily's curiosity seemed to win out as she lifted a hand, turning her attention back to you. "Care to explain?"
"We were discussing our backup plan."
"Backup plan?" Derek echoed.
"Yeah," you replied with a nod. "In case neither of us finds the right person by the time we're, oh, I don't know, forty or so, we figured we'd marry each other and start a family."
Derek placed a hand over his chest, feigning hurt. "And you chose Pretty Boy over me?"
"I'm not going to compete with all your lady friends," you shot back, rising from your seat. "Come on, Spence, let's grab some lunch and brainstorm baby names."
He stood up, giving you a pointed look.
"Or do you want to discuss how we'd make those babies in the future?"
"Well, I was thinking of Amelia if it's a girl..."
You grinned, linking your arm through his before guiding him towards the door. Derek and Emily observed the natural closeness between you two, how you were practically clinging to him and how he seemed to be comfortable with it.
Derek turned to Emily as you disappeared down the hallway. "Do you think they'd actually get married when they hit forty?"
Emily shook her head. "Nope," she replied confidently. "I give it a year until he's already down on one knee."
He laughed, nodding in agreement. With the way Spencer's gaze lingered on you with unmistakable affection, it seemed like it was only a matter of time.
