"Tell me about your OCs" ok don't have to ask me twice
Gonna tell you about my first fursona, ThornShadow, and his world.
ThornShadow is a black and brown feral wolf who lives in a world similar to ours, with the most notable differences being that there are no humans and there are two moons. He is a member of a wolf pack called the Pine Canyon Pack, and he used to be the beta of it but he stepped down. His pack lives near five other wolf packs, called the Long Shadows Pack, the Windy Meadow Pack, the Red Desert Pack, the Misty River Pack, and the Ice Forest Pack. The Pine Canyon Pack actually arrived in the area within ThornShadow's lifetime, after they were chased out of their old territory by a rival pack. Due to many deaths during the final battle when they were ousted, and subsequent splitting up of the pack for a time, ThornShadow was temporarily thrust into a leadership position. He wasn't very experienced, so luckily he was able to step down some time after the pack was reunited. In addition to not being ready for all the responsibilities, ThornShadow also didn't enjoy being high-ranking because it meant he didn't get much sleep (due to the aforementioned responsibilities) and he also got a lot of romantic attention that he wasn't interested in. Now though he gets to spend his time lying in the sun and painting the walls of the canyon where the pack lives.
ThornShadow's best friends are his siblings; his sister Clear Starry Night and his brother MuddyFoot. Clear Starry night is white with black markings and MuddyFoot is brown with white markings. The alpha of the pack is called Howl of Furoed Bracken (all the alphas have 'howl' in their names).
Speaking of names: naming is a very important part of wolf culture. As pups, they are given a name such as ShadowPup, MuddyPup, or StarryPup, and then once they become full members of the pack they get to choose their own full name (this typically includes the prefix from their pup name, but not always). This represents a lot; it is both a personal choice of defining identity, as well as solidifying a wolf's place of belonging within a pack. As a result, it's generally considered disrespectful to call a wolf by only one part of their name (the exception being close friends/family using a shortened version of three part names). Calling a wolf by only one part of their nane is disrespectful and insulting, insinuating some mix of "you're not a valid part of this community," "I don't see you as a full person," "you're a baby," and "I don't respect your individuality and right to self-determination." As I mentioned before, Alphas add the word "howl" into their name in some way (howling is very important to them, so it's a big honor), and there aren't really any rules around the structure for them (ex. the other five pack alphas are RedHowl, StarDustHowl, Howl Over Tall Grass, StormyNightHowl, and Misty Breeze Howl). Also lone wolves often don't follow these naming structures; either as a rejection of pack culture or just because it's a culture they don't share.
Pack structure of the wolves is a mix of warrior cats and the old idea of alpha and omega wolves. Alphas are the leaders, betas are the deputies, and omegas are the lowest rank (middling ranks I'm not naming because I'm reworking a lot of it lol). Depending on the pack, the actual strictness of the hierarchy may vary, as well as the expected role of each rank.
I'm reworking a lot of the mythology/religion as well, but the basics are that a lot of things in their world get personified as wolf spirits in their stories and such. Most thorough example right now is sun-wolf, Haka, the moon-wolf, Milan, and the little-moon-brother, Juni. Haka is vain, selfish, and uncaring, but not "evil;" he just kind of "is" by his nature. And the wolves recognize his necessity in the functioning of the world. Milan is kind of their "patron" god; she cares for them and is more gentle and takes great interest in the flourishing of the world. Juni is seen a lot like Milan but more minorly, and where Milan is more concerned with keeping check of all the overall harmony of the world and what's best for the whole, as well as finding your place within this greater whole, Juni is a lot more about encouraging individual growth, and therefore is associated especially with younger wolves. Both Milan and Juni can be symbols of fortune, fluidity, and change, whereas Haka is a symbol of consistency.
Their creation story goes that the Haka used to rest in one place on the planet, making everything around him scorching hot, and everything far from him freezing cold, with no change or variation, leading to a hostile world where very little life could flourish. Milan couldn't convince him to care for his effect on the world, so as a last resort one night she enacted a plan to steal his ears and tail. Haka woke up and was angry, so he chased her until he grabbed her by the tail, ripping it off. Her tail gained it's own life and became Juni. When Milan cried out in pain, she flung Haka's ears and tail across the sky, and he rushed to search for where they fell. He ran down to the ground so fast that the wind ripped out his fur, which scattered across the sky to become stars. As Haka ran across the earth, the temperatures changed with his movement, spawning various new climates where previously there was only frozen cold or scorched heat. He dug into the ground in his search, creating valleys and mountains, river and lake beds, hills and canyons. He was unable to find his ears and tail on the ground, and so he ran back to the sky to search there and to re-collect his lost pelt. But his light drowns out the faint glow of his scattered hairs, so he can never find them. Milan and Juni, to avoid his wrath, also move through the sky, and change their appearances often so if he sees them it will be harder to recognize them. When Haka searches closer to the ground it causes hot days and summertime, and when he searches far away in the sky it causes cold days and wintertime. And if he gets to close to finding his ears and tail, Milan and Juni block out his vision and path, causing eclipses.
Theoretically the wolves understand that the sun and moons aren't literally giant wolves in the sky (I mean look at them. They're circles), but that's how they think of them. Like that's what they are in spirit.
Anyway this is already suuuper long so I'll stop now ✌
That creation story is really cool, I like how it explains lots of cosmic phenomena the way ancient traditions used to. Thanks for telling me about your OCs!!

Victim Profile: weak cats, no matter who they are
Cause of Death: impaled by a tree branch. The smaller branches caused so much internal damage, she died all nine times over.
Cautionary Tale: N/A
Story:
Adderjaw trained in the Dark Forest as long as she could remember. She had always strived to become leader one day and rule with an iron claw.
She always viewed cats around her as inferior and only respected a few cats. One cat was brave enough to ask her to be his mate, that cat being Muddyfoot. He was a very kind, loving, and sweet tom. Adderjaw took notice of the efforts and accepted.
The two eventually had kits, Adderjaw named Talonkit and Muddyfoot named Fluffkit. Adderjaw showed favouritism with her children, favouring Talonkit because he was larger and appeared more fierce.
Eventually, their kits were apprenticed, and by that time, Burrcurl had joined the Dark Forest. Burrcurl had revealed the fact that there was "tainted blood in Windclan," and that she needs to eliminate it. Adderjaw, and her little cult following, launched an attack on Windclan. The raid did not go in their favour, considering that the Clan outnumbers the few Thunderclan cats.
Adderjaw and her followers were exiled from Thunderclan for their stunt. She invited her mate and kits to join her, but they refused. Adderjaw and her group took refuge in Twolegplace, meeting a group of rogues in the process.
Adderjaw attempted to recruit the rogues to help her take over the Clans, but their leader turned her proposals down. In response, Adderjaw killed him in front of their followers.
Now with a group tripled in size, Adderjaw aimed for the nearest Clan to take over, Riverclan.
She caught the leader and deputy, Boulderstar and Siltripple, off guard and the group killed them swiftly. She than took Boulderstar's dead body and impaled it on a sharp stone, knowing he would come back to life. The stone ended up stripping him of the rest of his lives, leaving him dead for good.
Adderjaw and her groupies waltzed in like they're about to own the place with the bodies in tow. She initiated a hostile takeover. The only cat brave enough to talk back was Goldenstream, Boulderstar's mate. Adderjaw took this as well as she could, by killing the disobediant she-cat in front of the entire Clan, her two daughters, and grandkits, to make a point to not to test her.
Adderjaw headed to the Moonstone to gain her lives. Starclan begrudgingly gave her her nine lives, dubbing her Adderstar.
The next gathering was a surprise for everyone. Adderstar once again offered Muddyfoot and her two kits to join her. Muddyfoot and Fluffpaw continued to refuse, but Talonpaw joined his mother.
In the following moons, Adderstar attacked Thunderclan with her army of Riverclan warriors and rogues. They end up winning and merged both Clans into Adderclan. Muddyfoot was appalled that Adderfoot went to such lengths, and in response, left with Fluffpaw to Windclan.
When Muddyfoot left her view, Adderstar had shed tears for the first time, confusing her greatly.
Eventually, all the Clans met up at Fourtrees for a final battle, Adderclan v.s. Windclan and Shadowclan. Before the battle, Adderstar continued to ask Muddyfoot to reconsider joining. Muddyfoot once again refused for the final time.
Adder was at this point fed up with this, and impulsively leapted, claws outstretched. Muddyfoot sheaths his claws and accepted his fate.
Adderstar killed Muddyfoot.
She looked down at the mangled body of her mate, and completely broke down. Sobs wracked her body as she commanded Adderclan to attack.
After a long battle, Adderstar was backed into a corner, while cats overhead broke off a branch from one of the trees, which fell on top of  Adderstar.
She came back, but the damage internally was too much, so she continued going and coming back. The rogues in Adderclan were terrified of this display, and all flee. After a long while of staring, Adderstar finally lay still, and her reign of terror was over.
She woke in the Dark Forest, and was met face-to-face with the sorrowful gaze of Muddyfoot, on the other side of the barrier between afterlifes.
Additional Information:
--Submission by @boogurl405
--Adderstar genuinely loved Muddyfoot, which is why she kept asking for him to side with her so they could rule together. When she leapt, it was an act of blind fury not directed at anybody, but she's so use to taking out her aggression through fighting, it just happened.
--Following the battle, Talonpaw has an existential breakdown about his mother using him and proceeds to tear off all of his claws, front and back. He retires to the elders’ den early and is named Talonspirit. His sister is named Fluffspirit. Damn.
--Adder never named a deputy, thinking she would live forever from her massive ego boost with her lives. The cat who stepped up to be lead Riverclan after her death was Timberface, Boulderstar's daughter.
--The cats who made the branch fall were Gopherear and another rogue she was friends with and knew through her rogue partner.
--A song that Boo thinks fits with Adderstar and Muddyfoot's relationship is "Monsters" by All Time Low (the version with Demi Lovato).
--(This also ties in with Bristletail and Burrcurl's storyline to avoid confusion)
--Another thing to note is that Muddyfoot still visited her in Twolegplace, because he loved her that much. At one point, Adderjaw invited him to join, but he turned it down.
-- Adder never washed off the blood from the murders when recieving her lives as a show of power to RC and Starclan that she means business.

Killing Flystar
Palefire stood in front of Redpaw, her fur spiked in anger. Her claws slid out, sinking into the dry earth beneath her. Flystar met her gaze with rage, half crouched and ready to spring. A slew of warriors stood behind him. Most of the SkyClan cats looked just as angry and hateful as their leader.
“You should have gotten rid of him a long time ago!” Flystar spat as his warriors circled around Palefire and Redpaw.
The fox growled, his lips curling as he turned to glare at the surrounding cats.
“You keep saying that,” Palefire hissed. “You’ve become awfully repetitive.”
Flystar bared his teeth.
“I don’t care. If you wish, you can picture me ripping that thing’s throat out and feeding its body to the crows!” Flystar took a step forward. The rest of his warriors followed suit, closing in the circle around them.
Palefire kept her eyes on Flystar. Redpaw was nearly twice the size of every cat facing them, and he was nearly a trained warrior now. He could easily handle several of the SkyClan cats.
“Are you really willing to risk your warriors’ lives just because you’re too stupid to see that Redpaw is just as part of this forest as we are?” Palefire lashed her tail, taking a step closer to Flystar. The grey tom’s face, split by a dull pink scar from ear tip to chin, was scowling with rage. “Are you willing to risk one of your own lives?”
“I’d kill you before you even get a claw in me!” Flystar snarled back. "Step aside, fox-lover," Flystar hissed. "I'm only here for your pet monster's blood." The menacing tom narrowed his eyes. "But I don't mind ripping out the throat of a filthy fox-loving traitor, if it comes to it."
Palefire flattened her ears. Flystar flicked his tail, and the next moment, his six warriors launched at them. Redpaw yelped, but it soon turned to a snarl as he attacked. Flystar lunged straight at Palefire, his claws stretching for her throat.
Palefire leapt straight up into the air, swiveling her body around to land on top of Flystar. Her weight wrenched him over and he fell to the forest floor with a thud, Palefire’s claws tearing at his back. She saw Redpaw fighting four warriors at once, swatting them away like annoying kits, but the next moment, Flystar was on top of her.
The SkyClan leader’s teeth sank into Palefire’s foreleg and wrenched her back. Palefire’s yowl of pain was cut off as Flystar pressed his paws against her neck. She could barely breath as Flystar tore at her throat with thorn-sharp claws and the pain in her leg was blinding, but her instinct took over. She managed to twist away before Flystar could tear out her throat and rolled back onto her paws. Her foreleg was soaked with blood now, and she felt blood seeping into her pelt under her chin. Soaking the fur down her chest.
Flystar bared his teeth and leapt several tail-lengths into the air, soaring over Palefire’s head. He landed on Redpaw’s back, causing the fox to collapse underneath the sudden weight. Palefire launched herself at Flystar, but she was tackled back to the ground. A second later, she recognized Hawktail. He raked his hind paws over her belly for a few heartbeats before Palefire squirmed out from under him.
Redpaw had shaken off Flystar, but now five separate warriors were fighting the apprentice. Redpaw’s blows were losing power as he lost blood. Palefire crouched and shot forward, shoving past Hawktail. As her body surged past the enemy warrior, her claws raked across his side, tearing through his pelt with ease. Hawktail yowled in surprise as blood started to pour down his body from the large wound stretching from hip to shoulder, and soon began to stager away from the battle.
A second warrior stumbled after him, looking disoriented, blood soaking the side of his face. Palefire turned back and leapt forward, landing once again on Flystar’s back. This time, she dug her claws on either side of his body, clinging to him with all her might. Praying that StarClan would forgive her, she sank her teeth into the back of his neck, delivering the same killing bite that was used to kill prey.
A yowl of shock and anger came from Flystar, but a heartbeat later, he stumbled underneath Palefire, and was limp.
His warriors halted in their attack, staring in shock and horror as their leader fell limp beneath Palefire. The ThunderClan warrior sprang from the SkyClan leader’s body and shoved past the enemy patrol before they could react. She butted Redpaw with her head, steering him away. Together they sprinted through the forest. A few heartbeats later, yowls of rage and grief sounded from behind them.
Palefire felt her heart skip a beat at the thought of what she had just done. She had just taken one of Flystar’s lives. She knew he was a young leader, only a few seasons into having his nine lives, and this was probably only the second or third time he had lost one. He would be back, but Palefire had still killed him. She had never killed any cat before, it was against the warrior code to kill when it could be avoided. But she also knew that killing Flystar was the only way to escape a battle that was six against two.
She tried to clear her head, only focusing on the thundering pawsteps of herself and Redpaw. Her vision was blurry though, and her paws kept catching on roots and vines. Suddenly, she stumbled, completely falling forward. She crashed to a halt at the base of a tree, blood swelling from her neck and belly, as well as dripping from her foreleg.
Palefire was gasping for breath as Redpaw halted and turned back for her. She couldn’t hear what he was saying as he tried to nudge her to her paws, his yips turning to desperate cries.
“He’ll be okay,” a voice whispered. Palefire tried to look around, her green eyes widening as she searched for the voice’s owner.
Beside Redpaw, who was still frantically trying to get Palefire to stand, the dim shape of a cat Palefire would always recognize shimmered in the filtered autumn light.
Sunfur was staring sadly down at her sister, her red pelt glimmering faintly with stars. Palefire choked out a sob.
“He’s going to have to leave you for now,” Sunfur mewed, “but he will be protected. So will you.”
“N-no!” Palefire hissed, trying to stand. She fell again, her blood soaking into the forest floor.
“You will see him again,” Sunfur mewed reassuringly. “But he has to leave this place for now.”
Redpaw suddenly yipped in surprise, staring right at Sunfur's ghost.
“Y- You!" He stammered, his red fur bristling with shock at the glowing form in front of him. "Wait. I- I know you!” His eyes were wide with recognition.
“Yes, you do. And now you have to trust me.” Sunfur reached out and touched noses with the fox. Light seemed to seep from her pelt into his, and he turned away from Palefire. The next moment, they were racing away into the trees, away from the Clans.
Tumblr media
Palefire lowered her head to the ground, trying to steady her breathing. She wasn’t sure how long she lay there before she heard voices. It was Muddyfoot and Frosttail, she recognized their scents, but the next moment, there was only darkness.

new year festival
trying something a little different for OCtober day 8: writing instead of art!
prompt is “festival,” and prompt list is by @oc-growth-and-development
we’re gonna have a story? i guess about the new year/spring festival that thornshadow and the other wolves celebrate. also gonna try to explain it since i’m pretty much the only one familiar with the holiday. (i’m going to use proper capitalization just because a lot of the names have specific capitalization and i feel weird not using it.)
ThornShadow is woken from his mid-day nap by excited barking coming from the top of the ravine.
“Everybody! The ice has melted! There’s grass around the river! The new year has started!”
All around the canyon, ears perk up, and wolves stick their heads out of caves. Soon enough, the entire pack is making their way to the river to see the melted ice. Sure enough, ice floes are floating away down the river.
The wolves are brimming with energy. The changing of the seasons is cause for celebration; the year turns from cold, harsh, and lacking in food to warm and full of life.
It takes a while for any semblance of order to exist, but a hunt is organized the moment it does. What better way to herald in the abundant seasons than with a feast?
The wolves who won’t be participating in the hunt return to the canyon to start preparations for the rest of the festival. In addition to the feast, there will be games and competitions, bone carving, and painting of cave walls.
ThornShadow is among those returning to the ravine. HawkFlight, who had been the one to announce the melting, had not chosen him to be in the hunting party. ThornShadow doesn’t mind though; he likes foraging for good carving bones and for plants and minerals with strong enough colors to stain the cave walls. Not everyone is as happy to be returning though. PinePup comes up beside ThornShadow, a disappointed expression on his face.
“I never get picked for the new year hunt.”
“You’re still quite young. It’s not personal; you know they want the best hunters so there’s a sure catch.” ThornShadow tries to console him. “Besides, you’ll be great at the other preparations. You can come with me to do the cave painting stuff. I know you’ve got a good eye for color.”
PinePup kicks at the snowy ground.
“But I want to hunt! And it’s not just because I’m young. RockPup got to hunt last year!”
ThornShadow doesn’t know how to reply. This is true; RockPup did participate in the previous new year hunt. It was only because RockPup is an exceptional hunter, but ThornShadow doesn’t think saying that will make PinePup feel better. He sighs.
“Well, you can stay in a cave and mope if you’d like, but you can come join me any time.”
Eventually PinePup does join ThornShadow, though only after several failed attempts to catch something on his own. They paint red suns and green plants all along the canyon walls, and by the time they’re done, PinePup’s mood has improved significantly. When the hunting party returns with deer meat for the pack, he isn’t resentful at all, and congratulates the hunters on a good catch.
After all the wolves have eaten, the games begin. Clear Starry Night leads a competition to see who can jump the highest, using the branches of the pine tree growing in the canyon to measure. The trainees start rolling snowballs, the goal being to have the last snowball to melt. ThornShadow spends much of his time painting walls inside the caves, marking off another year spent in this territory, and painting out wishes for the next year. MuddyFoot tries to build structures out of sticks, but other rambunctious wolves kept knocking them down. The older wolves share stories, and many of the hunters join them, being too tired from hunting to join in the more energetic celebrations. Some carve the stories into bones as they listen. Many more activities ensue: races, play fights, and several games of “blind pup,” which involves one wolf trying to defend a scrap of pelt with their eyes closed, as others try to steal it away.
As evening turns to night, the pack comes together for a howl. The wolves voices harmonize in a million different ways, each singing their farewell to the old year, and their hopes for the new.
ThornShadow figures that Malin and Juni, the moon spirits, must be pleased by their song, since it is a clear night and both moons are clearly visible, even from within the confines of the ravine walls. A year blessed by both Malin and Juni was bound to be a good one, as the moons love and nurture all life.
The wolves finally settle down to sleep, their bellies full of meat and their minds full of anticipation for the new year.
