Australia is seen as a popular destination for migrant workers, attracting skilled professionals seeking job opportunities from around the globe. Many talented individuals choose to move to Australia each year in pursuit of better employment prospects, with the main reasons being the limited job opportunities in their home countries and the higher salaries offered for skilled positions in Australia. In terms of engineering, Australia offers a plethora of opportunities to be explored.

Hello, me again back with another question about the US Navy that I can't find an answer to online so I'm turning to the only source I can think of that may help. And yet again I know you say your knowledge of the US military isn't as deep as it seems but it's better than mine considering I'm not from the US, I just wanted to know how officers get off aircraft carriers? It seems like a very basic question but I'm just wondering about if in Top Gun Maverick the carrier they were on was in port and they took it to wherever the Dagger mission takes place, or they got taken to the ship if it was already at sea? If so, how would they get there? If there was an emergency, say a family member was dying, they were in the middle of the ocean and got emergency leave approved, how would they get to land? Would the ship have to port at the nearest US Naval Base? Or would you have to land on the carrier somehow? This has been on my mind for a while so any help would be greatly appreciated, your blog really adds a realistic layer to Top Gun that is refreshing
navy logistics is some of the most interesting stuff in the world. especially World War II navy logistics (the infamous ice cream barge!!!). But even today how equipment & rations & personnel (and MAIL!!!) make it on/off boats is SO fascinating & takes ungodly amounts of coordination. take a look at this video posted by the uss gerald ford (CVN 78) a couple days ago.
those are sh-60s (Sea hawks—navy black hawk variant) dropping palletized goods from a cargo ship onto the flight deck of the carrier. Including sailors’ mail, overseas goods, food etc. just awesome stuff.
in terms of officers getting on/off ships, yeah you could do it a few ways. Number one would be when the boat makes a port call. Fun fact, It used to be a huge time-honored tradition for crews to make “cruise jackets” with the names of every place your ship/carrier had stopped. not too sure if it’s still done but it was a big thing after wwii. both mav and ice would probably have them.
Tumblr media
port calls would be when crewmen and officers especially could leave the boat & party it up on dry land. so you get the stereotype of navy officers cheating on their wives with foreign women in “foreign ports of call.”
number two, if it’s a high ranking officer like the carrier strike/battle group commander (typically a RDML) who needs for some reason to leave the carrier at the center of the CS/BG formation & go to another ship, yeah you just send over a chopper like an SH-60 to go pick them up and ferry them to wherever they need to go. when I wrote ice (RADM) as deputy Cdr of third fleet (four carriers) that might be one way he’d get around the fleet. (But also not 100% sure he’d even be at sea. That was kind of just for plot/emotional reasons to separate him from mav.) but so like.. if the fleet commander/deputy cdr had a family emergency (say: found out that Carole is gonna die soon) and he got cleared to leave, he could hop on a helicopter in range (SH-60 has a range of about 400 mi for instance—the similar USCG HH-60 jayhawk, which was canonically what picked up mav & brought him back to base after he blew up the darkstar, has a range of 800 mi; if not in range he’d have to move his carrier closer [wouldn’t happen, he would be SOL]) which would take him to the nearest allied airfield with a plane to fly home. Which is what happened in my fic. lots of hurdles to clear. it’s very inconvenient & obviously not encouraged.
here is a relevant section from my wips.
Tumblr media
for the mission in Top gun: maverick, obviously we don’t know for sure where the mission takes place, but it’s clearly somewhere in the northern INDOPAC region close to the ocean in specifically third fleet’s AOR (area of responsibility). (the list of reasons I chose southeast Russia to be the enemy location in my fic is soooo unbelievably long.) the navy would have a carrier strike group in the region for some time before. then it would make the most expeditious sense for the aircrews (mav, rooster et al) to be flown in from SoCal to somewhere closer, like a navy/air force base in Japan or South Korea, before they get transferred either by land (walk onto the carrier) or by air (chopper pick-up). given the time constraints of the mission I’m going with chopper. Carriers are fast… like really fast by boat standards… but not “travel across the Pacific Ocean in a day” fast. and not “waste time for a port call pick-up” fast.
also (random piece of nautical knowledge I know for some reason) there are some (possibly non-military) reasons why you’d do a personnel transfer by sea. take cruise ships for instance. When they pull into a port, there’s a whole guy whose job it is to take over for the captain to steer the boat into the port they presumably know very well. so this is actually how local cruise ship pilots get onto cruise ships. disney cruises included.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sketchy as fuck. I’m not sure if there’s a similar concept for aircraft carriers when they pull into unfamiliar ports… but I wouldn’t be surprised. however that’s for the captain of the boat. I would be shocked if high-ranking managerial officers ever needed to embark & disembark like this. but i just think it’s kind of funny.

Okay so a little explanation of my JJBA au while I work on a design for Crazy Diamond Requiem
So this takes place in an alternate universe where upon meeting the first stand user of the part josuke loses both his mother Tomoko and his Grandfather.
This causes a great amount of resentment and anger in Josuke towards his absent father Joseph and Jotaro blaming them for the death of his family.
This is being written and illustrated by me but a friend of mine is giving some help. She has been in the Jjba community far longer than I have she actually introduced it to me. She is helping with ideas and recommendations to fit things better.
Crazy Diamond Requiem-
So my idea of what CDR would do is serve as a timeline magnet. The ability to drag the past to the present and the future to the present resulting in multiple characters such as Dio and Jonathan returning for a short time and future characters like Diego and Johnny.
It will stem from a desire to destroy the joestar bloodline despite them being his own family.
Josuke will not be so op that he always wins.
As Josuke is the antagonist of my au it will fit the usual jjba or any anime trope that in the end he will lose. I hope to see y'all as this little au of mine progresses!!

thinking more and more about zaeed and yishai's rship (see under READ MORE for archived post of some random thoughts i've had about them that hit surprisingly deep for me... they're all buried in the tags though). i think in any universe, main verse or squadmate or otherwise, shep sort of imprints on him a little. they 100% come from similar places, and looking at zaeed and listening to his stories, i think yishai often thinks "this could be/this could've been me in a few decades" and he has a very strong respect for zaeed being able to handle/accept/embrace who he is and what he does. he sees zaeed simultaneously as a role model and someone not to become, if that makes sense...
thoughts on squadmate au in particular:
Tumblr media
back to in general: i'm devoted to the idea of zaeed being the sort of man who doesn't mind the work he does at all. he enjoys it, really. he's very well suited to the mercenary lifestyle as it is to him, and he is ruthless to whatever extent he needs to be to get his job done, no regrets or second thoughts about it. however, i feel like when he speaks to shepard. he is projecting a very Particular image of himself he has very deliberately and carefully crafted, when in actuality he has more of a heart than he cares to show. (thinking about zaeed me3)
i think they'd have an interesting dynamic... zaeed pretends he doesn't give two shits about shepard (despite very clearly taking him under his wing in yishais squadmate au), that he does what he's paid to do... however i think he sees more than most how mainverse yishai (as cdr shepard) struggles so deeply with his morality — yishai shepard, a man who was once so on track to becoming someone just like zaeed
and on one hand zaeed is like. this is not my fucking war, i'm just looking for the next paycheque. you couldn't pay him enough to sacrifice his own peace and interests in me3. but at the same time... i like to think that he is quite invested in seeing yishai take control of his own fate ... in watching shepard claw his way out of the mould of ruthless living weapon that he was forced into. zaeed, i think, knows better than anyone what this lifestyle is like and that shepard was forcefully shaped into what he was pre me1. he was not born for it, he did not choose it, he is not suited for it.
it is a difficult journey to fight the purpose that u were made for. zaeed's kind of rooting for him. goes out of his way to help ("wondered if you'd show up," he says to shepard in me3 at the holding area/refugee housing. did you miss me zaeed. i know u did), reaching out to old contacts who might be down to fight for shepard in this goddamn war that zaeed wants no direct hand in. ("i could always use more help," says shepard, phrasing it precisely like that because he knows that zaeed won't come aboard the normandy again. but maybe hoping, just a little bit, despite the both of them already knowing the answer...)
they're enough like each other that they get along. they've come up from similar places (or so i think, personally). at the least, they've seen similar fucked up shit, and been put through/put themselves through bloodshed and several levels of hell that there's quite a bit of comradery to build upon there. but by me2, they have some few differences that make the dynamic a little grating at times. shepard's too rowdy, overly passionate, and a little too righteous for zaeed's taste even in early me2 (and maybe a little too clingy — he needs guidance, esp in squadmate au!!). they get along, hang out often enough whether over drinks or over shooting something (or both). shepard hangs onto his every word with a sort of admiration and respect, and they most definitely butt heads. i think they have to be in particular moods to be hanging out with one another, even in squadmate verse. the same men who come together spontaneously and break out bottles and shot glasses without so much as a greeting, then sit for hours drinking — chatting with their heads close and in low voices, or intensely animated in friendly argument and in raucous laughter, or simply sitting in total quiet together. for hours — sometimes cannot fucking stand each other.
but. "if that boy wants to claw his way out — if he can — and play the hero. then cheers to that... hes still got time that this old merc hasnt" is a line i made up and threw into the tags of that linked post randomly. that i am Still thinking about
archived zaeed & shep post thoughts:

Narrator: Here’s a 64x63 lot out in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Hidden Springs.
Tumblr media
It’s nice sunny day and Admiral Tosh Nakamura is standing in the middle of the lot wearing a flightsuit and chaps (a g-suit).
Tumblr media
Hopefully it makes sense to somebody, because it sure as hell doesn’t to me. Having finished up their term of service in the United States Navy, he’s decided that he’s going to settle down here and earn some money in order to live comfortably for the rest of his existence. Considering the fact that he’s done his forty years of service, he pretty much can’t get called up again.
Evidently he won’t be alone either.
Tumblr media
Vice-Admiral Meg Austin, former Judge Advocate General is now retired after thirty years of naval service and she’s decided that she’s going to take some time and spend it with friends while she figures out what she’s going to do with the rest of her life. Does nobody figure this stuff out while they’re in the service?
Tumblr media
Accompanying her are Captain Kimber Benton with twenty years in (who is still subject to call-up), Lieutenant Colonel Sarah “Mac” Mackenzie, Captain Harmon Rabb Jr. Lieutenant Commander Jack Keeter and Commander Phil Burrows. Yes, it’s an odd-numbered situation, but well, Phil’s nuts. That pretty much explains everything he does.
Tumblr media
It should be fine as long as he’s not haranguing the commode. But one thing I still want to know is: Who the hell decided to let him in the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat?
Tumblr media
The Watcher has given them pretty much nothing other than five apple trees and a lettuce plant. Yeah, that’s going to really help them out. And they’d better nurse that lettuce plant because if it gets eaten by deer, they’re not getting another one.
But thank goodness for the Navy and their pension. They will receive the equivalent of §2.5M each for their separation and they will receive §18,500 a month for the rest of their lives, which means §55,500 a season. That should be enough to get them started. But the only thing is that they can’t build their house without getting good at being handy around the house. Frankly gaining the handyman and inventing skills is the only way they can start building and the inventing work table. That means that for every wall section they create they have to have at least a Level 2 skill level and unfortunately it would have to be one section a day, no matter how much money they have. If they have mastered the handyman and inventing skills, then they will be able to complete a room in a week, which means that they will have to all work together at getting this done. Each of them will have to learn how to become handy and invent things. Nope, it’s not going to be easy. But where will they sleep? How will they eat? I guess they’re going to have to pick a spot on the ground...and if it rains, it’s going to be miserable. C’est la vie.
Tumblr media
ADM Nakamura: My back is going to hate me in the mornings.
Watcher: Looks like he finally got out of that flight gear. That's half your problem, Admiral, 50 pounds of flight gear on your torso's bound to make your back ache.
Tumblr media
CAPT Benton: What exactly did I get myself into?
Tumblr media
LCOL Mackenzie: I don’t know how I’m going to work this around, but I know Harm’s to blame for this.
Tumblr media
CAPT Rabb: I’m so dead.
Tumblr media
CDR Burrows: Oooh...I can go fishing, and biking and…
Tumblr media
LCDR Keeter: Oh, man, I stepped in it...now. This is not going to be comfortable even with Meg around.
Tumblr media
VADM Austin: Texans are supposed to be tough, but camping out in a temperate rainforest isn’t one of them. The temp is going to get down to 42 at night. This is going to be miserable.
Narrator: Should we give them sleeping bags?
NAAAAAAAAAAAH! 😝

A bit of distraction for us left-leaning military nerds.
Let's play a game... AND YES, I STOLE THIS SCENARIO FROM THE NAFO GANG ON YOUTUBE, SO SUE ME! You are now in charge of the procurement of military equipment for the nation of Elbonia, a nation that as of now (being around 1956) has had its government overthrown by an authoritarian communist coup (meaning the not fun kind of communism). Headed by El Jeffe, our glorious leader (who has all the meglomaniacal tendencies you'd think he would), the revolutionary army is now looking to fill itself out to a well-rounded modern army and air force with all the bells and whistles. But here's the catch. You are actually a CIA plant, and your job is discreetly sabotage the revolutionary army and revolutionary army air force with equipment that looks cool but is pretty much garbage. If you fail to deliver sufficient coolness, El Jeffe will have you shot. If it actually turns out to be perfectly serviceable, the CIA will have you shot. Thus, the game is this: Select one or more categories of military equipment, and then propose a weapon designed or produced before 1956. This can be something that went into full production, something that died in the prototype phase, or something that never escaped the drawing board. Eastern Block, NATO, Former Axis Powers, doesn't matter, so long as it's before 1956, it's fair game.
I will offer my first entry:
Category: Light Bomber/attack aircraft
The Douglas A2D Skyshark.
Tumblr media
Looks a lot like an A-1 Skyraider, don't it? Well, on a basic level, it's a heavily modified Skyraider with a giant turboprop in the front. Said turboprop put out a whopping 5100 shaft horsepower, plus an additional 810 lbs of thrust from the exhaust, attached to a contra-rotating propeller. That means the A2D's top speed is 492 mph! So, El Jeffe, I present you the reliable frame of the A-1 Skyraider, but better in every way! Just look at this big, mean, bruiser of a ground pounder. It doesn't need the giant runways of modern jet aircraft, and the rugged construction and beefy landing gear will allow it to operate from grassy fields. Or even from small aircraft carriers if the glorious navy of Elbonia is provided with them. And now the bad stuff. The Skyshark has about half the maximum bomb load of Skyraider, reduced from 10,500 pounds of underwing ordinance to 5,500. So, that kinda sucks.
But it ain't got nuthin' on the Skyshark's real fatal flaw. That giant turboprop is the Allison XT-40, possibly one of the worst turboprops ever made. The XT-40 isn't really one engine, it's two turboprops coupled together and made to drive a single shaft through a deeply tortured gearbox.
This lead to the destruction or near-destruction of two prototypes. The first XA2D-1 was lost in December 1950, when the starboard power section of its engine failed while the pilot, Cdr. Hugh Wood, was attempting to land. The failed section of the engine failed to de-clutch, and most of the power of the remaining half of the engine ended up going to the compressor of the dead half. Hugh Wood was unable to check the rate of his descent and crashed, unfortunately dying as a result.
Then there was an incident in 1953 when test pilot C. G. "Doc" Livingston was performing dive tests in another XA2D. In the process of pulling out of a dive, his Skyshark made a loud bang, and his front windscreen was covered in engine oil. Doc Livingston then managed with the help of his chase plane to land his now powerless skyshark intact. Upon examining the front of the aircraft, he found that the prop and gear box had wrenched free of his aircraft, yeeting the planes means of propulsion whirling off into the sky.
Not a year after that, the prototype for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk flew for the first time, putting an end to the misery of the Skyshark program.
So, I can guarantee the CIA that Elbonia won't have much luck with this one. I'd predict lots of engine trouble and maintenance problems all around, with a high accident rate and low operational readiness rate. But since it looks cool, I think El Jeffe will go for it.
And I will pass this one along to @hms-exeter.

Ayo, want some character lore? HERE U GO !!
Finally have done a thing I’ve wanted to do for a while!! Especially with making Kandi, my music obsessed sloth! It’s been a dream to make stuff with my characters, and this was a big step (to me). I wonder, is there story/lore behind this??
Toky and Kandi are house buds, both loving a lot of the same things! They have their place decked out in interests with its own cozy feel. Once CDs had hit the market and popularity, they collected them like it was NEEDED! Kandi quickly found out about CDRs as well, and quickly got things to supply and make custom mixes for maybe a party, or maybe a rave.. better yet, a rave at con!! Toky also pitched in, helping with the art side, and even making a few mixes herself (which I will make soon)! Even some of their circle of friends wanted to have a copy of some, or even have their own custom mixes and pay the duo to help out! Kandi and Toky wanted to make a little name for themselves.. so, they came up with..

Hi! How do someone start learning chess? I know hoe the pieces works but can't decide on how to start learning the beginner tactics strategies and textbook stuff everyone talks about. Any help?
(Disclaimer: I am not any type of chess expert. I learned from my dad and a janky themed CDr when I was a kid.)
If you're just starting out, like you really know nothing but how the pieces move, do not worry about any kind of chess theory. Just get used to how the pieces move and interact for a while.
(And play against a human in person, if at all possible - friendly games where they let you take back bad moves and they don't surprise you with en passant.)
Chess is a fun game. Treating it like something you have to study for is the best way to stop it from being fun.
Honestly I learn most new skills through YouTube tutorials and trial-and-error, so I can't really help you any more than that.

A Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) is essential for engineers who wish to migrate to Australia under the Engineers Australia (EA) skill assessment process. Preparing a compelling CDR requires technical expertise, writing skills, and compliance with EA guidelines. This is where professional CDR writers Australia play a crucial role. With CDR Report Writing Help Services, engineers can improve their chances of obtaining a positive skill assessment and securing Australian migration.
Tumblr media
Why Do You Need Professional CDR Writers?
CDR writing is not just about presenting qualifications and experience; it involves demonstrating core engineering competencies as per Engineers Australia’s Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) Booklet. A poorly written report can lead to rejection, which may delay the migration process. Professional CDR report writers understand the complexities of EA guidelines, ensuring compliance and high-quality content.
Key Components of a CDR Report
A CDR report consists of three major components, each playing a vital role in the CDR skills assessment help process.
1. Career Episodes (CE)
Career Episodes showcase an engineer’s technical skills and competencies. Each episode focuses on a specific project or job role where the applicant applies engineering knowledge.
2. Summary Statement
A Summary Statement links competencies from the Career Episodes to EA’s required skillset. It must be precise and mapped correctly to the required competency elements.
3. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD records professional activities, workshops, and learning experiences that contribute to the engineer’s professional growth.
Common Reasons for CDR Rejection
Even skilled engineers face CDR Australia migration rejections due to common mistakes. Some of the key reasons include:
Plagiarism or copied content
Poorly structured Career Episodes
Incorrect Summary Statement mapping
Lack of sufficient technical details
Grammar and formatting issues
Choosing the Best CDR Writers in Australia
When looking for expert CDR report writers, consider:
Experience in engineering fields
Knowledge of EA guidelines
Proven success rates
Plagiarism-free content

Conclusion
Writing a compelling CDR report requires technical knowledge, structured writing, and adherence to EA’s standards. Professional CDR Writers Australia ensure quality reports, increasing the chances of a successful migration. With CDR skills assessment help, engineers can achieve their dream of working in Australia without the stress of CDR rejections.
For those seeking expert CDR assessment help, professional writers offer guidance, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free experience. Avoid unnecessary delays and secure your migration with a well-crafted, EA-approved CDR report.
FAQs
Q1: Can I write my own CDR report? A: Yes, but many engineers struggle with structuring their reports according to EA’s requirements. A CDR report writer ensures the report is well-crafted, plagiarism-free, and compliant.
Q2: What are the benefits of professional CDR writing services? A: Hiring CDR writers provides:
Compliance with EA guidelines
Well-structured Career Episodes (CEs)
Plagiarism-free content
Strong Summary Statement
High chance of approval
Q3: How many Career Episodes are required? A: A CDR must include three Career Episodes, each covering different aspects of your engineering experience.
Q4: What should I focus on in my Career Episodes? A: Highlight problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and application of engineering principles.
Q5: How detailed should my Summary Statement be? A: It should concisely reference key elements from the Career Episodes, ensuring they align with EA's competency standards.
Q6: How long should the CPD statement be? A: CPD should list short courses, certifications, and training programs relevant to your engineering field, formatted concisely.
Q7: What is the biggest mistake engineers make in CDR writing? A: Many engineers submit plagiarized content, leading to immediate rejection. Always ensure originality.
Q8: Can I resubmit my CDR after rejection? A: Yes, but revisions must be carefully done to address EA’s concerns. Professional CDR assessment help can improve your chances of approval.
Q9: How do I know if a CDR writer is reliable? A: Look for client reviews, past approvals, and expertise in technical writing.
Q10: Are CDR writing services expensive? A: Prices vary, but investing in professional services can save time and avoid rejection risks.

The benchmark’s look completely insane, but you can’t really go by those. The question is what most AI builders are actually using. Even today—after many releases beyond Sonnet 3.5, the go-to for most is still Sonnet 3.5. Elon's now asking federal workers to list what they did last week or get fired, which—like many things with him—has me cheering and wincing. really worried about my cdr for disability. If i get kicked off i just don't know what the fuck we are gonna do. i have a feeling appealing it wont go well. i'm told that statistically a small amount of CDRs are rejected, and thats mostly due to employment stuff, but i cant help but feel that i'll be shuffled out due to it mostly being mental illness and not physical.

Who is eligible to RPL in Australia!
Recognised Prior Learning is about having your previous work background and skills evaluated so that you can obtain a qualification. You gain the qualification based on the skills you learn on the work site, not in a classroom.
It makes acquiring your qualification quicker and cheaper. It will often be cheaper than finishing off a whole qualification because you’re not paying to learn things you already know.
RPL can be used to evaluate learning that has been attained through any sort of formal, informal and non–formal means in Australia or overseas. To be qualified for RPL, you must be able to provide proof that you have the knowledge and skills that are identical to those needed for the Nationally Recognised Qualification (NRQ) that you are seeking.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that permits you to have your prior knowledge and learning outcomes assessed and recognised by a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO). RPL for ACS delivers an opportunity for you to gain formal recognition equivalent to learning outcomes of Australian.
Qualifications about your formerly acquired knowledge and experience, enabling you to track your educational and career progression.
THE RPL ASSESSMENT MUST BE:
Affirmed by an Academic Staff of an RTO who has proficiency in specific subject content, knowledge and skills.
Be provided with authentic & adequate prior learning proof to validate and verify their experience.
Able to recognise the knowledge despite of how, when and where it was obtained.
Who’s Eligible for RPL in Australia?
If you’ve gone through a qualification in a particular area, worked in a position that’s enabled you to go through industry-relevant tasks, or simply been trained in-house through a firm you’ve previously worked for; you may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning through a course you’re interested in taking part in.
If the evidence is pertinent to the course you’re interested in, this information will be considered by the education provider running the course and they will discern whether you’re a suitable applicant. If they find your experience too, you can gain credits towards your chosen course, and essentially, comprehensive it in next to no time.
The Benefits of RPL
There are so multiple reasons to assess undertaking the process and using it for Recognition of Prior Learning. Not only can it enormously decrease your time spent studying a course but it can also allow you to become eligible for courses you may not have the prior formal qualifications required to meet the criteria. As a general rule, if you’ve undertaken a formal course, the AQF has created a guide that Registered Training Organisations should deem when discerning the amount of credit your RPL can have towards a course.
