thinking abt when i was suicidal and how it was already hard enough to seek help (i remember being mad at zoe for telling me mom abt my feelings, thats how hard it was for me) but how much it wouldve destroyed me if the ppl i care abt most told me that helping me take care of my mental health was too much “emotional labor” and how im “trauma dumping.”

and honestly yall almost had me believing that bullshit too, that my comfort should come first even if someone really needs me but thats not true. sorry if u dont wanna hear this but ur a fairweather friend if u only wanna be there when its easy and comfortable. yes theres a name for u and its not “self care” or “emotionally healthy”. its FAIRWEATHER FRIEND. a selfish person who only wants to be around ppl if it benefits them.

the second someone needs help, the second being around someone isnt all sunshine and butterflies, and the second u make someone elses suffering abt YOUR comfort, then uve become part of the problem and this growing social media frenzy abt “self care” and “putting ur own mental health first” is just code for selfishness and abandoning ppl who need support while putting the blame on them for daring to ask for it. cant tell u how many times ive been told “cant u just pretend to smile at least? ur so negative” or “uve become cold and not happy like u used to be :/“ making MY mental health a problem for them, that im inconveniencing other ppl and IM at fault for not pretending everything is fine. “idk how to comfort ppl” immediately puts the other person is a place of shame and guilt for making u uncomfortable. “cant we talk abt something else?” when ur friend is trying to tell u smth important (and unpleasant) is selfish and putting ur own comfort in front of someone elses mental health.

u dont need to drop everything for everyone all the time. thats not what im saying. but the reluctance to EVER do this and the resentment u feel when someone in a bad place is relying on u bc they feel ur all they have? thats selfish.

Let’s talk about how Rhys runs his court.

“The other courts are way better LMAOAKKAL” stfu😐 literally did u read the fucking book.. it’s been mentioned lots and lots of times that the night court is probably the best court when it comes to its laws and regulations. women are respected here, it’s not like the court of nightmare (the court he doesn’t have control over because of a contract/treaty his father had with keir, since it’s now under keirs authority) he has started progress in Illyrians (Illyria is a whole race of people WHO CHOOSE to live in the mountains and train and treats their females bad😐 he as already went as far as stopped wing clipping (they hate Rhys for that alone), made rape punishable (bare minimum but they have problems with that too) and is starting to get them to respect women and is forcing the to let them train, cassian is helping too.) No other highlords gives a shit (they think they own the women and literally allow blood duels and barely any equality) no wonder the night court is literally fucking thriving.

They clearly care and are trying to fix their court however they can. It takes fucking time. Y’all expect him to have his leg in 5 different places and then yell at him for being a misogynist when he can’t get rid of the sexism fast enough as if the Illyrians are making it easy for them. (Just cuz he isn’t doing it fast enough does not mean he doesn’t wanna do anything at all or that he’s oblivious to it.)

Also the hewn city is not his call. Its keirs. The court of nightmares is a sub court that has its own treaty and rights and contracts keeping Rhys from rulling it (no wonder he couldn’t just force their army to help) its not even Rhys’s call to stop misogyny there. But I’m sure they will try. (We have no input on his opinion of the other people suffering there. It’s justified to hate him IF IT WAS stating some shit expressing that the IC doesn’t care abt the other people suffering there.)

He is currently trying to help out in Illyria and it’s not fucking easy. Not to mentions the plot is abt the war. He’s made things illegal in Illyria and again THEY DONT LIKE intrusion they’re not making it any easier for Rhys to put in place rights for women but he’s still fucking trying..

try being a leader… it’s not that easy to get people to loose their traditional and listen. You have so many things in ur own court to worry about.. THEY ARE MAKING PROGRESS it’s clear there are problems and they are being solved. It’s easy to sit back and talk about “what the character should do” when u don’t know shit about the situations ( Maas doesnt talk about it so much since.. um Idk.. THE BOOK ISNT ABOUT WHAT THEYRE DOING FOR HIS COURT)

Also His power has nothing to do with the political issues cuz newsflash, he can’t use his power to manipulate people into listening to him.(mind you if he did that people would literally call him fucking evil so idk what the fuck u want.)

I absolutely hate the headcannons or the stories where Percy and Annabeth are hanging out with the rest of the seven, I mean lmao what? You think they'll be spending their birthdays and those kind of special occasions with people who they wouldn't even be friends with if they did not get thrown into the whole world saving fiasco. I mean I get that like obviously they're gonna see each other from time to time but what about they're friends from camp??? they knew them longer and that's like they're home so it makes more sense for them to celebrate birthdays and stuff with Grover, Travis, Connor, Katie, Miranda, Clarisse etc.

Also I HATE the ones where Annabeth and Piper are best friends/ girlfriends. As much as I remember Annabeth was civil to everyone not especially to Piper but sure they were friends.

there is so much to dissect here but first and foremost let me tell u it is in fact canon that the seven hang out regularly.... can't say the same abt katie travis connor and co sorry! y'all quite literally created the hc that they're all besties when canonically the most we have is two interactions w each and its mostly bc of war prep... the only one who was genuinely a friend was clarisse. and yeah annabeth grew up at chb so she's friends with all of them but percy saw them for maybe two months/year .... doesn't mean they're bffs for life ! who the fuck is even miranda? all your hcs about the chb friendships quite literally stem from one or two sentences... katie doesn't even interact with percy in the books, unless its at a meeting. she canonically doesn't exist until botl i think, and she has a single line. the twins exist from book one, yes, and maybe them being close with annabeth makes sense, but they were there for summer only, same with clarisse. add to that percy being gone all year and then having a quest every summer–they don't have the tight knit bond you all paint out. if anything, at least the seven all had about two months together. lol.

this whole erasure of the seven's friendship is so odd to me because how do u go through so much with people and not have them become your friends? why are y'all so childish with this mindset that people cannot become best friends quickly? newsflash: i became BESTIES with my people within WEEKS! add to that the trauma ties and the close quarters and BAM u get instant friendship. beyond that, why can you not be friends with multiple people at once?? wtf is this, middle school? percy and annabeth can be friends with the chb people AND the seven.... they can coexist u weirdos.

lastly, that comment specifically knitpicking pipabeth is giving very much lesbophobia. do u hate lesbians anon? do u hate sapphics? ur very very weird for that last point. its quite literally canon (see: the first few pipabeth interactions in tlh, as well as annabeth's first few povs in moa) that annabeth and piper become quick friends, SO MUCH SO that both of them secretly hoped piper was an athena kid so they'd be sisters–they bonded from the start and it stuck and there are no reasons to hate that.

on top of that, annabeth canonically was the sweetest argo 2 crew member. she was the glue that kept them all together and was the only one that had interactions with all 7 that were personal. she helped frank out, had heart to hearts with piper & hazel, friendly with jason, and was the only one who understood leo's machinery. even at chb she was an absolutely sweetheart and kind to everyone. to say she was only "civil" is heavily undermining her personality. she was the type of popular girl to befriend everyone.

martie  is  the  only  daughter  out  of  five  kids  ,  and  she  was  born  to  a  traditionally  italian  family  ,  from  both  her  parents’  sides  .  they  weren’t  rich  but  lived  comfortably  ,  and  had  a  really  big  family  in  general  .  holidays  and  birthdays  were  always  huge  in  her  family  ,  and  there  was  usually  a  funny  argument  that  ended  with  the  grandmas  spraying  everyone  with  a  water  hose  .  her  parents  weren’t  very  happy  together  ,  but  tried  their  best  to  work  through  their  problems  and  not  divorce  ,  since  they  were  very  much  christians  and  didn’t  really  believe  in  separation  .  they  did  eventually  divorce  though  ,  but  only  pretty  later  on  in  martie’s  life  .

considering  she  only  had  brothers  and  her  mother  worked  long  hours  ,  martie  didn’t  have  a  lot  of  female  influences  in  her  life  ,  so  she  grew  up  pretty  unconcerned  about  more  feminine  matters  ,  not  because  she  disliked  it  but  she  was  just  clueless to  it  .  when  she  grew  older  ,  she  got  a  lot  more  into  makeup  ,  but  fashion  still  isn’t  her  thing  .  nowadays  ,  she  has  a  personal  stylist  ,  but  when  she  dresses  herself  ,  martie  usually  ends  up  in  dirty  sneakers  and  ripped  t-shirts  .  

so  ,  growing  up  ,  considering  martie  wasnt  too  interested  in  most  of  her  brothers  hobbies  ,  she  had  to  find  herself  something  to  do  .  she  tried  a  great  many  deal  of  things  ,  and  ended  up  discovering  she  loved  music  ,  writing  song  lyrics  ,  playing  musical  instruments  ,  and  singing  .  considering  she  was  pretty  good  at  it  ,  her  parents  supported  her  wishes  and  paid  for  singing  lessons  &  bought  her  a  bunch  of  instruments  and  all  of  that  .

[  HOMOPHOBIA  /  BIPHOBIA  TW  ]  so   she  was  pretty  happy  and  chill  for  her  late  childhood   &  early  teens  ,  contrary  to  some  of  her  brothers  ,  martie  didnt  get  in  trouble  with  teachers  and  was  a  reasonably  good  student  ,  so  they  never  worried  about  her  while  she  was  growing  up  .  that  pretty  much  all  changed  when  martie  not  only  came  out  as  bisexual  to  her  family  but  also  told  them  she  was  actually  in  a  relationship  a  girl  .  her  family  was  very  religious  so  it  didn’t  surprise  her  when  her  mother  cried  for  days  &  was  clearly  disappointed  ,  but  her  dad  raged  and  screamed  and  threatened  her  with  all  kinds  of  punishments  if  she  didn’t  end  her  relationship  and  never  talked  about  her  sexuality  again  instead  ,   and  his  behaviour  made  her  feel  so  scared  that  she  did  end  up  breaking  up  with  her  first  girlfriend  and  didn’t  touch  the  subject  of  her  sexuality  for  many many  years  after  that  .  [  END  OF  TW  ]

it  caused  a  huge  shift  in  her  family  dynamics  ,  unsurprisingly  .  martie  felt  like  she  didnt  have  a  choice  but  to  hide  ,  and  she  really  resented  her  father  for  forcing  that  on  her  &  the  rest  of  the  family  for  giving  her  almost  no  support  .  her  brothers  tried  their  best  ,  but  it  was  really  hard  for  all  of  them  to  stand  up  to  their  father  .  so  she  focused  a  lot  on  her  music  ,  because  by  then  she  was  sure  that  it  was  her  way  out  of  that  environment  that  was  hurting  her  so  much  .

she  was  picked  up  by  a  label  when  she  was  19  ,  and  left  her  home  in  newark  as  soon  as  she  could  .  choosing  to  stay  with  new  friends  and  acquaintances  as  she  worked  her  way  into  the  music  industry  .  after  being  featured  in  a  few  other  artist’s  songs  &  having  a  first  single  to  become  a  smash  hit  (  side  to  side  )  ,  martie  released  dangerous  woman  ,  her  first  album  that  climbed  steadily  up  the  charts  until  she  was  basically  everywhere  .  it  was  a  very  sudden  change  of  environment  but  she  was  very  happy  about  it  ,  at  least  she  wasnt  stuck  around  her  dad  anymore  .

however  ,  she  is  still  just  as  stuck  as  she  was  back  in  her  hometown  ,  since  once  she  blew  up  ,  her  label  &  management  thought  it  would  also  be  a  good  idea  to  hide  her  sexuality  ,  at  least  until  she  was  more  ‘established’  in  the  industry  .  newsflash  ,  its  been  five  years  and  they  still  wont  let  her  come  out  about  it  .  she’s  definitely  growing  impatient  ,  though  ,  so  that’s  not  something  that’s  gonna  be  a  secret  for  too  long  probably  .  still   ,  there’s  not  a  lot  of  ppl  who  know  abt  her  sexuality  out  there  so  far  .

so  ,  in  the  five  years  she’s  been  famous  ,  martie  kept  in  contact  with  a  few  family  members  ,  but  definitely  not  her  dad  .  her  parents  divorced  a  couple  of  years  after  she  left  ,  and  her  mom  decided  to  make  more  of  an  effort  to  be  around  her  &  get  over  her  prejudice  to  support  martie’s  choices  ,  which  helped  heal  their  relationship  in  ways  martie  didnt  really  expect  .

considering  the  career  she  has  now  ,  martie  has  managed  to  keep  a  relatively  unproblematic  image  on  the  media  .  she’s  had  her  controversial  moments  for  sure  ,  and  there  are  definitely  reasons  for  people  to  dislike  her  ,  but  mostly  she  gets  away  unscathed  by  fans  ,  the  media  does  have  a  field  trip  coming  up  w  untrue  headlines  about  her  tho  .

okay  so  ,  martie  is  kinda  like  a  not  so  big  kid  still  ?  she’s  never  had  to  actually  be  by  herself  her  entire  life  ,  so  adulting  is  something  she  has  a  certain  difficulty  doing  .  she’s  very  unbothered  about  life  in  general  ,  so  something  really  worrying  that  mostly  everyone  would  freak  out  about will  rarely  ever  bother  her  .  but  ,  she  will  freak  out  for  three  days  if  she  gets  asked  to  pay  her  own  bills  or  something  as  mundane  .  

she  also  kinda  lives  in  her  own  little  world  ,  and  in  a  way  ,  she  can  be  very  confident  in  the  aspect  of  not  really  bothering  about  almost  anyone’s  opinions  about  her  &  her  actions  ,  if  she  wants  to  do  something  that  will  make  her  happy  ,  she  won’t  really  think  about  it  before  doing  so  ,  so  she’s  kinda  reckless in  that  way  .  but  she  also  doubts  herself  very  much  when  it  comes  to  self  worth  &  like  things  related  to  her  actual  personality  .  we  love  multifaceted  muses  am i  right ?  lmao

martie  is  great  to  make  friends  with  ,  she  will  pretty  much  get  along  with  everyone  ?  is  a  super  social  being  ,  loves  being  surrounded  by  people  ,  probably  has  a  bunch  of  her  friends  living  with  her because  she  just  doesn’t  like  being  alone  .  

loves  working  !  spends  almost  her  entire  free  time  in  the  studio  ,  if  u  haven’t  seen  her  in  three  days  chances  are  she’s  trying  to  finish  a  song  .  can  get  a  little  lost  on  it  though  so  she  definitely  needs  some  looking  after  when  she  gets  into  songwriting  mode  .

overall  a  disaster  child  ?  doesn’t  know  how  to  function  but  tries  her  best  &  isn’t  that  all  we  can  ask ?
