Her Love in The Force 🕵️‍♀️ Facts

The MC

She would be around 25-26 yo according to Namba’s speculation in a story

Has one younger brother called Shoma

She originally worked as a police officer back in her small town, Nagano, for 3 years after graduating from Tokyo University

She used to practice kendo with her father. She was also part of a kendo club in middle school

She always dreamed of being a detective, but didn’t know she would end up in the Public Safety Division

She has multiple nicknames given to her by the Public Safety men, but back in her hometown she was known as the “Snapping Turtle of Nagano”

Is friends with her classmates Sasaki Naruko and Chiba Daisuke

According to Riko Kinoshita, MC has unusual fingerprints. She has almost “perfect concentric circles”

In Ayumu’s route, she has a special ability. She has an eidetic memory, which is extremely useful for her as a detective

Namba thinks that while she is so young, she’s an “old soul”

Hyogo Kaga

31 yo

Public Safety Captain

Has an older sister called Miyuki. She’s the only one he ever trusted in his family

Kaga is described as extremely handsome, and it was mentioned and shown that sometimes men also crush on him

Is very hot headed, and clicks his tongue when annoyed

He has a habit of intimidating people physically. He does his famous “Iron Claw” move to shut people up when they get on his nerves. He often does it to Kurosawa, and MC, though Kurosawa once claimed that it’s his way of showing his love to the MC when he does it to her (only in Kaga’s route), since he wouldn’t do it to anyone else. He also does a kabedon to people, but again, he does it especially to MC, this time in multiple routes. The trainees fear him because of how cruel he can be during practice and in class

Curses a lot and often throws insults at people, like “trashbag”, “worm”, “moron”, etc…

Fights a lot with Ishigami since they don’t share the same strategies during investigations and are fundamentally very different. Back when they were at the police academy, they were classmates, roommates and were always paired for training assignments but they couldn’t stand each other. They were also classmates with Riko Kinoshita

Often acts on his own on cases, which is why he and Ishigami don’t get along well, as Ishigami likes to follow rules while Kaga thinks they’re useless and a waste of his time when he could be doing his job

He loves meat, if he could, he would only eat that. He hates vegetables with a burning passion and usually gives his greens to others, especially Ayumu or MC when he eats with them. People often say he has a vegetable phobia

He loves softness. When it comes to food, daifuku is his favorite Japanese dessert. He also considers MC’s upper arms to be the perfect level of softness, and loves to touch them, especially when he goes to sleep. He also sometimes plays with her cheeks and will check if she ate well enough because he doesn’t want her to change her level of softness without his permission. He once claimed to like his women plump

He avoids sweets filled with custard, which he claims to despise. However, it’s possible that Kaga actually likes custard and only claims to hate it because Ishigami loves pudding, since MC bought Kaga a pudding once when he was sick, and he ate it without protesting. He might unconsciously like custard but will reject it because he doesn’t want to be associated with something Ishigami likes

Has a 3 year old niece called “Hana”. He loves her a lot and is very protective of her, which would surprise anyone considering how tough he looks on the outside. He is a big softie with his niece and never refuses her anything as long as she isn’t spoiled. When his sister and brother-in-law have to work on weekends, he takes care of Hana

He never got along with his dad, who’s a politician. He decided to become a police officer to arrest him and expose him. Kaga also protected his sister from their father when the latter wanted Miyuki to marry a man he’d have chosen for her. When she rejected her father’s idea and was about to be hit by him, Kaga protected her and punched him. It was the first time he hit his father

He left his parents’ house when he was about to start college. He wanted to leave the house as soon as possible because he couldn’t stand living with the bad memories associated with it

He used to work for Criminal Affairs before being a Public Safety detective. He was transferred to Public Safety because Namba said he could investigate on his own if he wanted, which is ideal for him

He used to be very close with his teammates when he was a squad leader in criminal investigations. He was especially close with a man called Tetsuo Hamaguchi. Sadly, his 3 teammates died in an explosion and Kaga was the only one who was alive on the team since he was at another location at the time

He has an amazing intuition, which is why he often acts on his own

He asked Ayumu to join his team in Public Safety after Ayumu decided to join the force. He told him he needed his brain skills. They ended up being a great match

He used to be bullied and hit by other kids when he was one himself, because of how fragile he looked. He would come crying to his sister after going back home

His sister used to read him fairytales when they were children, but since she only owned “girly” books, Kaga only knows these types of fairytales and doesn’t know about the “boyish” ones

Kaga is always early when he has a date with MC because he likes to see her look for him. Once, she arrived earlier than him on one of their dates and he was mad that she stole “his fun”

He can drink alcohol a lot without being drunk, but he’s not at Namba’s level. In the rare times he drinks too much, he falls asleep

He throws whiteboard markers at students who sleep during his class

Ayumu Shinonome

He was the youngest officer to ever be selected for the top squad

Is a genius hacker. He used to challenge himself in college with a secret hacking forum where a small community of engineers would gather to test their skills. His handle on that site was N_peach which made some people think he was a girl

He likes to tease people, like his coworkers but especially the trainees, even more when it comes to MC. He is very sarcastic and cheeky

Loves peach nectar and is very picky about the type he drinks. On the other hand, he hates orange juice. Before loving peach nectar, he used to drink coffee back in university. It's only later that he started drinking peach nectar more

He was adopted by a rich couple, Yoko and Shigeru Shinonome, after his mother passed away when he was very young. His birth name was Tsukuno. His adopted parents run Kochi Electronics, and care very deeply for Ayumu

He’s very close to the housekeeper of his parents’ house, who is called “Goldie”. He had a special signal with her at night. They would tap on the wall four times to ask "are you asleep?" and three times for "no" or twice for "yes"

The Shinonomes have a cat named Mikeko, who Ayumu often tries to approach but always gets rejected by

His bowl haircut often turns him into a laughing stock by everyone who think it’s similar to a mushroom, but he always had this hairstyle since he was a child. He takes care of his precious hair very well and gets irritated when it’s wet and he can’t dry it (because of how puffy it gets)

He was always in love with his childhood friend, Sachi. He even has a special ringtone for her on his phone. Sachi said she wanted to be a detective when she was a little girl. Since she wasn’t doing well in her studies, Ayumu decided to become one himself in her stead. He never confessed his feelings to her, and was hurt a lot when she ended up dating another man and was asking him about love advice for her relationship sometimes

After learning about Sachi’s new boyfriend when he was in college, Ayumu had a one-night-stand with a girl he didn’t know and lost his virginity to, out of sadness. He had spent the whole night out, and only came back home when it was extremely early in the morning. It was also his first time to go out all night without telling his family

When he and MC started dating, he made it a rule that they wouldn’t have sex until she graduates from the Academy. Therefore, they made love for the first time two years later after becoming a couple

He has learned to work smarter, not harder. Which explains why he is nonchalant about things and won’t put his all into certain activities if they’re not interesting or necessary to him

Absolutely loves dinosaurs. He gets extremely excited when he gets to see or hear things about them

Since being adopted by the Shinonomes, Ayumu always attended elite schools that are affiliated with each other, therefore, he went to elementary, junior and high school with the same school. However, instead of continuing his path by going to the university affiliated with the other schools, he decided to go to T University. He mentions that it's because he got in, and this university is also known for giving students an advantage if they wanted to work for the government

When he was in kindergarten and was still with his mother, Ayumu belonged to the Peach Group in class

Jin Namba

He met his ex wife, Yukiko Kashii, at work. She wanted to divorce him after he became too distant with her. He had stopped paying attention and spending time with her because of his work

The reason he kept his wedding ring on his finger isn’t because he couldn’t forget his ex wife. It’s because he physically couldn’t take the ring off

Likes to eat at a small ramen stall. He has a history with it since it’s where his previous boss took him to eat together when he was younger

Calls the MC his “Little Bird” because she’s young and innocent

Calls himself an old fart because he’s getting older

He has lower back problems and MC massages him to help him sometimes (in his route)

Out of all the PS men, he’s the one who can handle alcohol the best. He loves booze

He also likes black coffee

Always makes dad jokes

He and MC are often described as “the same type of people” since they view justice the same way

Takaomi Tsugaru

Public Safety Captain

Is described as very handsome. He uses his looks to his advantage and often jokes about being too handsome

He calls MC “Little Hare” (“Usa-chan” in Japanese)

His mother was supposed to give birth to a second child, who would have been named “Takeru”. Later, Tsugaru became friends with Momose, whose first name is Takeru. It might explain why Tsugaru is fond of him and somehow views him as a little brother

He worked hard in high school to enter the best university in the country, and then join the Public Safety Division because he wanted to be useful to Shirogane

Kaga thought that Tsugaru could probably match Namba’s level when it came to drinking without getting drunk. He can handle alcohol very well like him

He used to be a troublemaker at school and Shirogane often had to apologize for his behavior, which made Tsugaru guilty because of everything Shirogane does for him

Takeru Momose

Member of Tsugaru’s team

Is extremely loyal to Tsugaru, to the point everyone calls him his faithful dog

He has a great sense of smell, which makes him even more similar to dogs and very helpful during cases

He and MC bicker a lot and Momose has a habit of kicking her chair and clicking his tongue when she annoys him

Has a girlfriend he seems to be serious about. She often cooks his bentos and Tsugaru implied she might be his Miss Right as he thought they would probably marry in the future

Toru Kurosawa

Member of Ishigami’s team

Is a troublemaker and everyone has already felt like punching him a few times in their life because of how energetic, nosy and bubbly he can be

Is surprisingly close to Ayumu as they sometimes go to group dates organized by Kurosawa, even if Ayumu is still exasperated with him. They’re also on a first-name basis

in highschool (before you became a professional player) ::

you met suna in your first year of high school. You were part of the girls volleyball team and after your team and you practiced outside, you were assigned to fill the water bottles and on your way to the sinks, you bumped into suna.

you made awkward small talk before you had to go back to practice and he looked at you until you disappeared behind the doors because he had a feeling he knew you from somewhere.

atsumu was the first one to actually approach you because he heard that you were part of the top ten best female middle blockers and he wanted to seduce you with setter skills.

suna definitely took a liking to you when you turned to tsumu, brows furrowed in confusion and let out a "who are you?"

you definitely knew who he was. you just wanted to mess with him

tsumu's face literraly went from 😏 to 😶 to 😞

poor guy was devasted and pouting for the rest of the day

you bonded after suna’s team watched one of your games and he was amazed by your skills

because you are both middle blockers atsumu def teased you, saying things like "you guys would be such a power couple" or "you should get together so you guys can practice together" without knowing that you guys were already together for 2 whole months, everybody knew except atsumu.

you never miss one of each other games.

whenever you watch him play, you are always so proud and amazed and it’s honestly so cute because everyone can see how you’re looking at rin with heart eyes.

I just know that whenever you want to go shopping for volleyball related stuff (shoes, kneecaps, volleyballs…) suna will always go with you, even if you didn’t know he would come along

like you would be opening your front door and he would scare the shit out of you because he’s waiting for you right on your doorstep and if you ask him what he’s doing here, he will reply with “i heard we were going shopping” like sir ?? how do you even know ??

for your two month anniversary, you made matching bracelets that have your nicknames on them with a diy friendship bracelet set his sister gave you and he only takes it off for volleyball, resulting in it breaking multiple times and you had to remake them or else rin was very sad :((

definitely helps you clean the gym after practice because it’s one of the only moments at school where you guys are left alone so you take that time to talk about your day and hold each other lovingly after you’re done cleaning.

you practice a lot together and he would act as your trainer just to be close to you. like he would walk up to you, wrap an arm around your waist and tell you to take a better posture, not letting go off your waist when you stand up straight.

rin’s just taking every opportunity to touch you because he’s just a big touch starved dork :))

after highschool (when you became a professional player) ::

right after you graduated, you were offered a full scholarship to play in division 1 and suna was the first one to know, literally. you had ran to his house in the middle of the night to tell him and at the mention of the words “scholarship” and “division one”, he was wide awake.

you definitely cried and suna shed a few tears of pride. the rest of the night was spent by suna praising you for countless hours and you thanking him for all his support and telling him that you would have never been able to achieve your dream if he wasn’t there by your side.

you would have to do long distance relationship since you’ll have to move to osaka to play w/ ur team and he to nagano but you would facetime, call and text daily and whenever you could, you would see each other and spend the weekend together.

whenever one of you needs to take the train to go back home, suna will slip your favourite snacks in your bag, alongside some sticky notes with cringy encouragement quotes and a few of his sweatshirts, t-shirts and old volleyball jersey.

because you are doing long distance, it would be really hard to be present at each other games, so you always ask one of ur teammates to film the game for you so u could send it to suna

one time however, you had an unexpected free weekend and was able to take the train to nagano just in time to see one of suna’s most important games. you were able to get in because suna always gave you extra tickets to his games, even if you couldn’t attend them.

rin was so nervous because the pressure was really too much but when he saw you in the stands, smiling excitedly at him with thumbs up, his face lit up and he was a little more relaxed knowing that you were there for him, to congratulate him or comfort him in case they lost

[spoiler] they won

each time you would visit each other, you would show him around the city and bring him to all your favourite places and vice versa. apparently, it’s very cute because there have been a few old people compliment your relationship.

I think that suna would prefer to keep your relationship private. of course, your friends and teammates know about it but you’ve never officially confirmed it to the public. suna would sometimes hint on social media about being in a relationship but never revealed your face or any distinguish features.

one day, late at night, rin was whining about how much he missed you and that he really wanted you to come see him and he was waiting for you to tease him or laugh but instead you said "we can arrange that. do you have enough place for me to move in or do you want to search for something a bit bigger?"

he thought you were joking [spoiler] you were dead serious

"what?" "because if you want something new, i did some researh and found a good apartment that is close to the train station, a few grocery stores and the gym-" "what?" "what what?" "but- how,,why?" (poor boy is stuttering) "didn't i tell you? i accepted an offer to play for the [insert cool team name here to look badass], so i'm moving to nagano"

its silent for like four whole minutes until he throws a "i'm coming to see you" and hangs up. he's standing in front of your apartment five hours later.

very nice experience. recommend 10/10

you move in together in a nice, cozy apartment with view on a park :))

one time, fans saw suna at the store buying pads and everybody went crazy because 1) there is a high chance suna has a gf and 2) suna bought pads and 3) suna is that type of bf

after the pads-incident, a lot of (overbearing) fans have been trying to find out who his girlfriend was and began following him to the point where he had to post a message about it, stating that he was allowed to have some privacy and that yes, he has a gf.

the message was followed by a photo of suna cuddling in bed and holding onto a girl's waist- you. the post went viral and once again fans went crazy because the photo was cut so that you couldn't see who the mysterious girl was.

after a long month of practice, suna had finally a free day so you took naps all day and only left your home at 2am to buy jellysticks at the small grocery store. your lovey dovey moment was interupted when someone took a video of you two and posted it online.

you were def pissed when your relationship became public because it was nice to be out of the spotlights.

you still had a statement to make so you posted a photo of suna, standing in the kitchen and making you green tea, bare back and muscles on display. post went viral and everyone thirsted.

suna would post photos of you at every occasion like he would post a video of you where you're eating ramen and the caption would be "happy yn's-first-time-being-able-to-reach-the-top-shelf-anniversary" or "happy yn's-first-time-buying-dog-food-anniversary"

rin brags about you to everyone. at every gathering, whether it is a party with his teammates from ejp or an official meeting with his superiors or sponsors, he always has his phone out, showing everybody photos of you or the latest news article mentioning you.

breaking down Ace of Diamond - the "Hero's Journey."

Using the model/guide presented by Overly Sarcastic Productions in their youtube video Trope Talk: The Hero's Journey, I will attempt to discuss how Sawamura Eijun's story in DnA is his Hero's Journey to becoming an ace pitcher in the Japanese HIgh School Baseball environment.

Blue from OSP put forward the 12 basic parts of the Hero's Journey Cycle. The illustration below will be our reference. I simplified a graph made by Signy Wilson in order to match OSP's less rigid guide.

disclaimer: I am by no means any kind of expert. I was just fascinated when I learned about the Hero's Journey as a general trope/framework when it came to writing stories. I want to apply what I learned by breaking down the story created by Terajima Yuuji in Ace of Diamond.

A. ORDINARY WORLD

STAGE 1. THE HERO IN HIS NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Hero: Sawamura Eijun. Captain and Ace Pitcher of middle school baseball team. He has no formal training in baseball whatsoever but was the one who gathered and convinced his friends to start a baseball club. He's the best player in their small team. Good at sports but bad at academics .

He is generally a baseball idiot and quite a naive/simple guy with a strong heart. He does not have any idea what competitive and pro baseball looks like because not only does he not have experience but also he does not watch the broadcasts on tv/radio at all.

Ordinary World of the Hero: rural town in Nagano Prefecture, where Sawamura formed a small baseball team with his childhood friends. Acording to him, as long as they all stay together they can always play baseball anywhere.

STAGE 2. THE CALL TO ADVENTURE

2.1 Problem/why hero's ordinary world is going to crumble: - He lessened his chances of being scouted/accepted in a good baseball school after he btchslapped an entire opponent team and the umpires in their first and only match as middle school team in Saitama Stadium.

He also has low chance of being accepted into the high school in their area (where his friends are all going to) because he struggles with his academics a lot.

Unless he does something he won't be able to be together with his friends and/or play baseball at all.

2.2 Caller of the adventure - Takashima Rei pursues Sawamura into Nagano Prefecture in order to scout him as a sports scholar for Seido High School, a baseball powerhouse school located in the West Division of Tokyo Prefecture.

2.3 medicine/ solution to hero's crumbling world: being a sports scholar for Seido. This would solve almost all of Sawamura's highschool enrollment problem and also give him the chance to play as much baseball as he wants.

STAGE 3. REFUSAL TO THE CALL

3.1 reluctance to go: Sawamura refuses to leave Nagano despite Rei's "sales pitch" to him and his family. He doesn't want to leave his friends just to play baseball in a stronger school far away because he had promised his friends that they would always stick together.

3.2 hero punished for this - his grandpa literally smacks/slaps him in being stupid and doubting his friends.!!! / technically circumstances are already punishing him for being a hotblooded baseball idiot in the first place.

3.3 do you think you have a choice - this is probably the only chance he'll get to play baseball with all his strength AND finish highschool.

B. EXTRAORDINARY / UNKNOWN WORLD

Venturing out into more competitive/pro baseball is a world beyond him. It's scary and unknown and he'd rather defeat bigger teams than leave his friends.

STAGE 4. CROSSING THE THRESHOLD

4.1 crossing physical threshold - Rei persuades him to at least check the school out with his own eyes. They leave Tokyo together for one visit.

4.2. crossing a metaphorical threshold - in that visit, sawamura, picks a fight with a senior who's bound for baseball drafts, works together with a nationally acclaimed catcher in defeating the senior player, thus changing his worldview because he had so much fun.

4.2. conscious and irreversible decision - Because of the experience he goes home conflicted. His family encourages him in their own way to follow his guts and heart and go to Tokyo.

STAGE 5. REALM OF ADVENTURE

5.1 hero learns to navigate the unknown world - Sawamura learns the harsh realities of being in a baseball school once he actually starts to live there. Our boy also gets educated in Baseball and Pitching 101. He also finds out the true personality of the catcher he played with before.

5.2 meeting allies/rivals/mentors - he learns about the team better when he meets a whole bunch of people: batchmates, coaches and senpais. He builds interesting dynamics with all of them.

5.3 trials and initial failures - Sawamura undergoes difficult initial training and is barely allowed to play in matches.

5.4 meeting enemies - Sawamura being allowed to play as relief pitcher in the games and face talented pitchers and scary batters mostly in tense situations.

5.5 growth, new skills - Sawamura grows with each match, thus bolstering his confidence. Sometimes he falters but he learns from his mistakes.

5.6 first major success - striking out scary batters with each new thing he learns.

5.7 major challenge that leads to downfall - seido vs inashiro finals match where he goes in full of confidence and courage but then he and his team gets defeated in a devastating way.

STAGE 6. BELLY OF THE WHALE

6.1 lowest point of hero where hero physically or metaphorically goes down - one month after their major defeat, a lot of intense practice matches and change in team dynamics, the team find out that Sawamura has the YIPS. This condition took away Sawamura's ability to pitch in his trademark style/ the only thing he was good at.

6.2 hero's darkest hour - without the ability to pitch, Sawamura questions his reality and why he is still on the team.

6.3 Face and overcome inner demons - with a lot of help from allies and mentors, Sawamura finds a way to bring back a bit of his ability.

STAGE 7. ROAD OF TRIALS

7.1 Discarding old self - In the duration of his downfall and eventual healing, Sawamura turns to books, meditation and becomes even more careful in maintaining his form and body.

7.2 Accepting the new role - instead of fixating on the ace position like before, Sawamura is just glad that he is still allowed to pitch as relief.

7.3 Finding path out of the belly of the whale/The road back - After figuring out a solution to fix his pitching, he focuses on it and regains some of his ability. Sawamura is then allowed to play in matches. Just like before, he improves little by little as he recovers from each failure. He gains fresher mindset and new weapons, thus becoming an even stronger pitcher than he ever was before.

7.4 more trials - they face new opponent schools and old but improved opponents which test the best of Sawamura and the team's ability

STAGE 8. PRE SHOWDOWN BREATHER

every major match in ace of diamond has this part of the story but usually the most critical breather episode is the one before the final match.

8.1 show humanity of other characters - Somethng bad happens to the other mc without Sawamura knowing. This could absolutely wreck their chances of winning the final match. This shows that the other guys are not 100% invincible after all.

8.2 last chance to relax. - calm before the storm. It is also the time where they finalize sawamura's weapons.

8.3 quiet moment to reminisce - usually happens before each match. However the night before the finals was the major one because their old senpais went to visit their practice and encourage them.

STAGE 9. CLIMAX / STEPPING UP TO THE CHALLENGE

9.1 Final Showdown - Sawamura helps in the team defense with the best of his ability and weapons and he succeeds. Their team eventually wins Fall Tournament even with a few setbacks.

9.2 Apotheosis - Sawamura's worldview changed once he realises that even with his improvement and skill, his goal of being the ace is still out of reach for him.

9.3 Ultimate Boon - Sawamura gets to be a pivotal member of their baseball team and can play baseball as much as he wants with his team.

STAGE 7. ROAD OF TRIALS start again after the Fall Tournament Act 1 because Sawamura faces new challenges in Ace of Diamond Act 2.

Meiji Jingu Tournament - Play in matches without Miyuki

WInter camp and break - Intense Physical Training and development and improvement of his weapons which he will use and improve on throughout the rest of Act 2.

Spring Koshien where he realises that he has to do more in order to surpass the current ace which was Furuya.

Start of New Term/ Practice Matches - Sawamura and co. meets their new kouhai and team dynamics shift once again.

Spring Tournament / Summer Tournament - Sawamura meets old foes and new enemies. He also becomes the Ace Pitcher of the team, which adds more pressure on his part.

ACT 2 STAGE 8. PRE SHOWDOWN BREATHER

This is the big and long one before Summer Tournament Finals match where injuries and problems were discussed and feelings were explored.

ACT 2 STAGE 9. CLIMAX

Final (Or most hyped and awaited rematch) Seido vs Inashiro in order to qualify for Summer Koshien Nationals.

STAGES 7-9 start again

Koshien Nationals Arc.

STAGE 10. CROSSING THE RETURN THRESHOLD

Miyuki/3rd years retirement/graduation. Sawamura and his batch will have to lead the team.

STAGE 11. THE REWARD

Sawamura gets to play with his team as ace pitcher.

STAGE 12 / STAGE 1. THE HERO IN HIS NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Sawamura may become both ace and captain, same as his role back in his middle school team, albeit in a stronger school. Even if he won't be the next captain, as ace he will still be in a strong leadership position.

CONCLUSION

That's how Ace of Diamond is written in the style of A HERO'S JOURNEY.

Act 1 writing especially followed the trope quite rigidly.

Notes:

I still don't want Sawamura to be the next captain. I hope that does not happen. However if it does, it means the story will have gone back full circle. That would be quite poetic ngl.

Gotta applaud Terajima's pacing. Can you believe that the story only reached its lowest and most pivotal point at around episode 70 of the anime???? thank godt that after ep 63 I read spoilers about yips arc in tv tropes or else i would have dropped the series completely.

I had difficulty in classifying the events after the climax stage into hero's journey stages because technically sawamura has not gone "home" yet. Moreover the challenges and trials just kept on piling up after Fall Tournament.

In this whole story, Sawamura has experienced only one true "Belly of the Whale stage" during his YIPS arc. I don't think he really came to a low point in Act 2 other than his first official match as Ace Pitcher. I treated that in the same vein as the effects of Raichi's first homerun off Sawamura back in Act 1.

I realized that having stages 7-9 recur starting from Meiji Jingu to the current summer tournament is what made reading Act 2 quite frustrating for me. That's at least 5-6 arcs of endless roller coaster ride loops.

I consider Miyuki's departure to be the "CROSSING THE RETURN THRESHOLD" moment because playing with him was the major reason for Sawamura's decision to study and play in Tokyo. Something will change Sawamura when this eventually happens.

As Blue from OSP said, the Hero's Journey is just a general guide/framework to writing stories. It is flexible, writers don't even have to use it or all of its parts to make a good story. Terajima just seemed to have adopted A LOT of the hero's journey trope in his baseball series.

59. Interdepartmental Memos DCMK - This one is a drabble series written entirely in email, text messages, and tweets that have to do with the goings on of people involved in law enforcement in Japan. So this would include people like Division One, Division Two, Osaka's police force, Nagano Trio, PSB, etc. It would also include the Boys, and Kaito/KID just because he hacks the system and messes with them. :)

62. AokoCOVID DCMK - This idea is very post-canon, in a setting where Kaito is a doctor in the emergency department of a hospital. It's written from Aoko's POV and describes her fear and anxiety about Kaito being on the front lines of a new global pandemic that is highly contagious with no known treatment and high mortality rates. This idea is basically a self insert of me as Aoko and my sister as Kaito.

148. RoyAssassination FMA - Immediately post-Promised Day (post-canon), Roy Mustang, a colonel in the army who was blinded in the final battle, is recuperating in a hospital when he is kidnapped and tortured as a means of drawing out Edward Elric aka The Fullmetal Alchemist (one of his subordinates) that the kidnapper specifically wanted to kill. His team manages to track him down but are unable to save him since he bleeds out right when the find him after stubbornly refusing to disclose where Ed himself is recuperating.

"Sir," said Yui for what was probably not the hundredth time but definitely felt like at least the sixty-eighth, "this is a coffeeshop. I don't know what you think you're looking for, but the closest we get to law enforcement is serving the officers that come through here. Which your presence is preventing me from doing."

It wasn't even a lie – she could see the portly inspector from Division One answering a phone call a couple steps from the door, accompanied by one of his detectives who gave her a sheepish wave when he caught her glance through the wide window.

Takeaway? Yui asked with a lift of her hand, and proceeded to ring up the orders at his nod. (If it just so happened that brought her away down the counter from where she'd been stuck for the past fifteen minutes, that was merely and obviously a complete coincidence.)

She stayed there long enough to watch the PSB agent to see himself out, but Azusa waved her off when she turned to the coffee machine. "It's your turn for a break, Yui-san, I'll handle their drinks!"

Azusa really was a godsend; Yui didn't know how they'd have ever managed running this place without her.

"Thank you," she said, fervently, and hung up her apron on its hook before slipping into the back office.

Kansuke raised an eyebrow as she came in. "That guy finally slink off back to where he came from?"

Yui grimaced, and fell gratefully into the chair Koumei had pulled up for her. "For now, and hopefully he won't be back for a while. No thanks to either of you," she added with an irritation she didn't really feel – they'd already agreed she would be the best person among them to handle this, given the ties Koumei had and the fact that Kan-chan was… well, Kan-chan. "Have you found anything?"

"The tip from our reporter friend appears to check out." Koumei slid a map over to her, labelled neatly in his handwriting. "It's worth further investigation in person. Discreet investigation."

"I'll grab the brat from the Mouris," Kan-chan said, completely unperturbed.

"Discreet," Koumei repeated, "and you really should stop trying to bring Edogawa-kun along at the slightest pretext, it's going to attract suspicion at some point."

"And Ran-chan will be quite put out with us if he does get hurt during his involvement," Yui chimed in.

Kan-chan made an impatient noise. "Worth it. Otherwise he's gonna turn out all boring like Koumei, do I look like I want two of those in my life?!"

(Koumei gave a cough that sounded improbably like as if the feeling isn't mutual, and Yui rolled her eyes. "Fine, now one of you go up front and help Azusa-san out, shoo.")

Hakozume-Police Box Girls ( Hakozume-Tatakau! ) [2022]

20-year-old rookie police officer Kawai Mai works hard at a police box and feels both physically and mentally drained. She has never felt appreciated even though she supposedly works for the sake of the area’s residents. In addition, she does not find working at a police box rewarding.

Mai is about to hand in her resignation when she meets 30-year-old Fuji Seiko, the former ace detective of the Criminal Investigations Division. Seiko is said to have been forced to transfer to the police box for harassing a subordinate at work but her true reason for her transfer will be revealed.

It reminds me of the 80s/90s anime, You’re Under Arrest, which revolves around two female traffic police officers. And like that series which has its own live action adaptation, Hakozume-Tatakau has one as well, starring Nagano Mei as Kawai Mai and Toda Erika as Fuji Seiko.

The Sword's Shadow

Heroes Odyssey: Not likely to cover every episode, but will cover this episode a little. Zero is talking about people, villains and defenders across the universes. All the heroes I saw listed below, but on with the episode. Zero still not admitting Zero is his apprentice, come on dude. Okay, Zero is talking like the events of Z are still ongoing here. I might not talk about this much until nearer the end, we'll see.

Hayata, Dan, Go, Seiji, Misuzu, Gen, Choichiro, Yamato-sensei, Ryoko, Scott, Chuck and Beth, Jack, Kai, Spark Lens, Reflasher, Gamu, Fujimiya, Katsuto, Genki, Seven 21's girl disguise, Ginga, Musashi, Julie, Maki, Himeya, Komon, Kaito, Serizawa, Sakomizu, Mirai, Jin, Rei, Ran, Nao, Taiga, Hikaru, Shou, Daichi, Gai, Riku, Leito, Asahi, Isamu, Kataumi, Hiroyuki, STORAGE, Haruki. So a couple of oddities, specifically the use of Misuzu instead of Kotaro, the not using Asuka even though Tsuruno Takeshi is definitely not a problem like Nagano Hiroshi's agency is, never mind I have learnt some stuff, and using all 3 of Zero's hosts and only one of Nexus' (counting The Next and Noa as separate). There's also stuff like not using Tsubasa, Amui or Yuuto or Tomoya, or not using Kazamori even though they used Jim, but that's less weird really. Okay

The Absolute Conspiracy: We're now set between Zero & Z Voice Drama and Z itself. In Tartarus' relative past he brought Reibatos to Future Earth, where he revives Bat Seijin. Bat Seijin concluded that with a heart Zetton could defeat the Ultra heroes, creating Uchu Kyoju Majin Zett. Later, the Tri Squad train on Planet Maijii, a high gravity world where Taiga and Titas had trained before meeting Fuma, when Zett appears. Taiga and Titas recognised him from when they faced another version on U40 and sealed him, probably referencing a Voice Drama scenario. Zett summons the Zetton Army, two regular Zettons, 2 Hyper Zetton, EX Zetton and, a modification of a Baltan Zetton fusion from around the same time as Zett on stage, Zetton Falx. The team struggles against them. At Ayaka City Ultrawoman Grigio is still fighting on behalf of her brother's against Zandrias and Noiseler, managing to drive them off. Zero arrives to recruit her, Grigio mentioning her brothers are helping in the hunt to stop Devil Splinters. Tartarus arrives on U40, noting it will be a problem for him one day. Joneus' quickly appears and Tartarus challenges him. After determining he will be a threat, Tartarus leaves, Zero arriving right after to ask for his help. The Tri-Squad continue to struggle against the Zetton Army until the sudden arrival of Galaxy Rescue Force members Andro Melos and Ultraman Ribut.

Saber: Is the rooftop near Fantastic Bookstore Kamiyama? I thought of it as being like, Kento's place, but we're still using it so I don't know. Mei's editor is now a Yeti Megiddo. Yuri has been in Avalon for a thousand years it seems, doesn't like the comic SwordXMan, which seems like he might be making a comment on the show itself? Anyway, we're finally going to Southern Base. A reminder to the fandom that the fact to us Reika is clearly evil, or at least lying, doesn't make the fact the Northern Base members took her statements at face value contrived. Rintaro is incapable of seeing flaws within Sword of Logos due to his past, but at the same time wants to believe in Touma, while Ren is against Touma for believing Kamijo about the traitor given Kamijo killed Kento. Ogami and Daishinji don't really know what's true, but will follow Reika's instructions for now. Yuri seems... intrigued? Confused? By Legeiel...have they met, or does he know Legeiel as someone else? Okay, defeating Yuki-san's Megiddo form seems to part complete the new Alter Book she's using, or rather it's just time spent, if it completes she'll be gone. In the next battle Yuri demonstrates his next ability as Saikou, producing Shadow to fight with.

Kiramager: More focus in finding the last Kanaema Stone, and what is up with Takamichi and Garza? Oh, Illusia, that's what. I knew the mention of a crescent would tie into Garza somehow. Takamichi has unresolved issues with Garza, brought about by Oradin interrupting the last Graduel, in a way Mabusheena doesn't. And yeah, that Garza was trying to kill him I suspected. Garza symbolically destroys the image Takamichi has of him ever being a loving uncle. Yodonna gets away with Illusia.

Dogengers: Yabai Kamen declares to the assembled members of AHK that with the treasure he has acquired, a Golden Seal, they will end the era of the heroes. In Fukuoka City Tanaka Jiro watches the news, which is interrupted by Shaberryman, who announces he is on the run from heroes, specifically Fukuokaken Fukuokaliber, a wielder of two swords and the politest hero in Fukuoka. Fukuokaliber had been active for 8 years, and Dogengers is the debut of his new costume, indeed the promo images all use the original. The hero asks Kitaqman for help, but he's too busy showing off a drink on his blog, Shaberryman then runs into workers for Yahata Construction, including the boss, along with their hero, Tengen no Yusha El Brave, a masked wrestler who now fights as a hero, El Brave is completely resistant to the attacks, and is aided by the workers in fighting off Shaberryman, who bemoans the company finances going down the drain when he's interrupted by the Yamashiro Gas Co. Sales Department Hero Division, Redron, Aoiron and Daidairon. Redron is polite and a little naive, Aoiron has something of a cool image and Daidairon is the curry lover. Yamashiro Gas Co. is actually based in Saga Prefecture, but has offices in Fukuoka. With permission from the company, the three are able to combine into Yamashiron, and defeat Shaberryman, and the crowds celebrate the heroes. Tanaka admires the heroes' strength. He's talking with his childhood friend, Yuki, who he last saw 17 years ago when he moved to Tokyo, they're making plans to meet soon. Both make use of Hero related stickers. On Nokonoshima Island the heroes are filming Hero House, during which we see Kitaqman's Kitaq Machine. The girls seem to be having fun. On the ferry back to the mainland to get lunch, as they arrive the city is attacked, and they're soon confronted by Yabai Kamen, some Karami, as well as the Arakuremono thugs who support the two members of Marou Project, Marou Kaijin Gulf and Marou Kaijin Gallia. Marou just means Evil Wolf, Gulf is the elder brother with an Osaka accent who loves to fight, Gallia is the cuter younger brother with a Tokyo accent. As Yabai Kamen demonstrates his power, explaining he took the chance to invade while they were on Nokonoshima, the heroes evacuate those nearby to the island before confronting the villains, but Yabai Kamen demonstrates his power further. Tanaka finds himself at the scene of the battle, watching. The heroes are able to defeat the Karamis, but Gulf and Gallia demonstrate they're also stronger, wiping the heroes out. Tanaka, remembering his childhood, tries to stand up against the villains, but his heroic speech never makes it out if his imagination, Yabai Kamen does offer him membership as an Arakuremono. Sending the Marou's off, he tells Tanaka he's Fukuoka's last hero, and gloats, before the arrival of Ohgaman, who swiftly defeats the Karami with his thermometer projectiles, leaving him ready to challenge Yabai Kamen one on one.

Nagano Division

Han'nya no Tsumi is the representative rap group of Nagano Division. This group is formed by tattoo artist Takeo Kirishima, chef Ayato Fudo and their leader, Jomei Takahashi.

The group's color is crimson red, which symbolizes fire, God's power, wealth and strength.

The group's symbol is the Hannya mask, which symbolizes the strong jealousy and anger of each member.

They have no hand sign.

Each member wears a Hannya pin.
