Proxima, lying in a puddle of blood: Before I die, I need to say something... Terrax: Gather around and listen to her last words. Proxima: Maximus... Maximus: Yes? Proxima: There is no one else in this group that... Maximus: Oh? Go on. Proxima: I hate more than I hate you. Namor: HA! Maximus: Wh--This seems unnecessary... Corvus: Quiet! These are her last words. Maximus, sighing: Very well... Proxima: It is necessary. My dying wish is to ruin the rest of your fleeting life. It was a mistake to allow you to follow us. Maximus: I am a member of the Cabal, not a-- Black Swan: Show some respect. Maximus: Ugh... Proxima: You are the most obnoxious, delusional, tiny, weak little impish creature I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Maximus: That's it. I'm leaving. Namor: You dare abandon our dying comrade during her last speech? Maximus: Fine. Proxima: The only reason you are here is because Namor thought you would be able to help if something went wrong with the bombs. I would rather disintegrate in a fiery explosion than spend another waking moment with you. You are a plague upon this Cabal. The only thing you offer is a failsafe against flawless engineering by better inventors than you. You are unnecessary. I hope, in my absence, Lord Thanos abandons you on the next world and enjoys your panicked wails in my honor. Thanos: I will honor your dying wish. Maximus: Excuse me? Proxima: Never mistake tolerance for anything more, Maximus. No one here likes you. I want you to know that. Maximus: Thanos likes me. Thanos: I do. I imagine this is how people feel about puppies. Maximus: I--How dare you? Proxima: I greet death, not because it is an honor to die for Lord Thanos, but because it will rescue me from an existence with you. Corvus, closing her eyes: Rest now... Maximus: Are you all done? I'm going to go sabotage the bombs. Namor, walking after Maximus: You are not as offensive as she claimed. Maximus, sarcastically: I'm touched, Namor. Truly. Corvus, helping Proxima up: I almost broke in the middle of your speech. Proxima: Wait a minute more to laugh. He'll hear you if you do it now. Thanos: And the others think we have no sense of humor.

I truly believe in my heart that Marvel should have had Amora on the Cabal Mean Girls with Namor, Doom, Emma, and Loki. She fits the team aesthetic of being very hot and also morally grey. Loki needs his bestie evil wife there because when you think about their dynamic; Namor is closest allies with Emma and Doom, Doom and Emma only trust Namor with an alliance they don’t even trust each other, and where does that leave Loki? Doom and Loki link up but both don’t ever trust each other with an alliance. He needs someone to scheme with inside their already small scheming group. I want them all to be the super hot evil popular girl group of the villain world. Why was Dark Reign Cabal potential so squandered. Marvel never does anything fun istg.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
November 10th - The Black Panther / Shuri
The Princess of Wakanda, Shuri is the sister of T’Challa The Black Panther, and an heiress to the throne of Wakanda. She is the youngest child of T’Chaka and his third wife, Queen Ramonda. From a very young age, Shuri has wanted to become the first woman to don the mantle of The Black Panther.  Following the death of her father, Shuri entered the arena to challenge her uncle S'yan for the title of Black Panther, but was unable to reach the ring before another fighter defeated S'yan and claimed the title. When the victor was unmasked, it was none other than Shuri's older half-brother T’Challa.
Shuri was disappointed, but her brother made for a fine king and excellent Black Panther and she stood dutifully by his side.  She continued to hone her skills as a combatant and tactician.  She was additionally a gifted student who greatly excelled in her studies, particularly in the fields of science and technology.
Shuri would go on to become a fierce warrior and cunning leader.  She led the attack force that sacked the capital of Atlantis as retribution for Prince Namor’s assault on the Golden City whist possessed by the Phoenix Force.
When T’Challa was incapacitated and left in a comatose state, Shuri stepped in as Wakanda’s stewardship queen.  During this time, the Golden City was besieged by the extra-dimensional menace known as Morlan.  Shuri communed with the deity of Basst who bestowed her the powers of the Black Panther.  Donning her own iteration of the panther garb, Shuri was able to defeat Morlan.  Shuri continued on as the Black Panther, maintaining the mantle even after T’Challa was eventually revived.
Later, Shuri was nearly killed in battle against Prince Namor and The Cabal.  In a near-death state, Shuri’s soul traveled to the Djalia, a transcendent plane that represented Wakanda's collective memory.  There she encountered a griot spirit who taught her advanced combat skills and ancient magical incantations.  Shuri was eventually revived by T’Challa with the aide of Manifold and she now possessed great powers bestowed by the griot’s training.
A version of Shuri features in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by actress Letitia Wright.  The heroine first appeared in the pages of Black Panther Vol. 4 #2 (2005).

What do you think of Scott Snyder's Justice League outside of the Metal events ?
Great art, a couple great bits, but on the whole it ended up being filler to buy time for Death Metal.
Tumblr media
Take for example the Martian Manhunter/Lex Luthor relationship that Snyder spent most of the run building upon. Where did that go? Nowhere! Snyder himself seemed to lose interest by the end, with the final confrontation with Lex being between Lex and Superman. Why didn't he just make that the focus from the start, his portrayal of the Lex/J'onn relationship was basically trying to transplant the Silver Age Superman/Lex broken friendship onto those two? Even more egregious, neither Lex nor J'onn play any major role in the event which is supposed to serve as the big finale, nor does Perpetua who was the main villain of the run ever amount to anything.
Perpetua herself could have been interesting, the idea that humanity is intrinsically evil because of how we are made is a concept that Snyder has long been fascinated by, wth the 2016 election simply increasing his obsession over the idea.
Tumblr media
Analyzing human nature through the prism of superheroes, where the goddess who made us is a selfish piece of shit who wants us to be that too, could have led to interesting questions about whether humanity is fundamentally worth saving. Gillen explored similar ideas in the superior Judgement Day event just recently. Having humanity's fall to doom be because we chose that over justice is a genuiely inspired story idea. The Justice League can defeat any external foe, but can they conquer the evil that lurks in humanity's heart? We'll never know, because Snyder never did anything with it.
Now Snyder has said that Hickman's Avengers run was his main inspiration, and you can see how he tried to copy the format of Hickman's run with his JL. But the reason why Hickman succeeded and Snyder failed is that the main Avengers book was never the real focus. They were explicitly the decoy protagonists who just had to buy time for the real protagonists, who were the Illuminati. Secret Wars didn't feature Cap or Iron Man at all, but it could get away with that because the main protagonists of Hickman's New Avengers book - Mr. Fantastic, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Namor and the Cabal, and of course Dr. Doom - simply stepped out of the shadows and onto the center stage with that event, befitting how they were always the main characters of that drama. Plus Secret Wars wasn't just the capstone to Hickman's Avengers run, it was also the conclusion to his Fantastic Four run, the payoff to his exploration of Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom's relationship as enemies/rivals. In contrast the JL and the Legion of Doom were supposed to be the main focus of Snyder's run, which makes their lackluster ending and participation in Death Metal stand out.
Lex gets ousted from power in a mini that only serves to undermine all the work Snyder did with him in JL, and I actually enjoyed that Hell Arisen mini! I thought Tynion had a great handle on what made Lex tick, but why make Lex the focus of your run only to discard him unceremoniously? He's kicked to the curb for BWL, who predictably goes on to usurp Perpetua as the Big Bad of Death Metal. Should've just had BWL be on the Legion of Doom from the start, at least then the run might have served some purpose in building towards Death Metal, instead of all the real buildup for BWL reclaiming his spot being done in Batman/Superman and Hell Arisen. I know things were a shitshow behind the scenes with Snyder fighting Didio on 5G, and that's likely why the storytelling doesn't hold up, but all I can judge is what we were given.
Looking back, the only arc that I still unreservadely reccommend is The Sixth Dimension.
Tumblr media
It's the one arc that remains a great read in and of itself. It's Snyder's big bombastic storytelling about DC, superheroes, continuity, the nature of reality, and whether we can rise above our fallen natures to be better, all finally singing together the way he was aiming to do. Superman punches a cosmic god so hard, said god joins the good guys, Batman pilots a badass mecha and fights the JL, "Darkseid Is" gets used in a way that actually feels epic again, Jorge Jimenez makes Mxy and Bat-Mite look terrifying and depicts their powers in creative ways. Damn good read, probably Snyder's best arc in a DC book other than Court of Owls for me.

Marvel's Injustice.
My pitches for NRS inevitable Marvel game if they go the Injustice route.
Game titles
Marvel:Disassembled
Marvel:Dark Reign
Avengeance:Fall Of Midgard
Story ideas.
Scenario 1. Disassembled. Tony Stark's suit of armor around the world phase goes into complete and full effect. Get the right event to trigger it and I think Tony could be sent into Superman mode where he establishes a regime for the world’s protection. Tony takes full control of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the world by force. Captain America would rise up and lead a band full of heroes who are willing to do what's right and stop Tony Stark and the regime. Final boss fight. We choose between either Cap or Iron Man. If we choose Cap, then we fight Superior Iron Man, if we choose Iron Man, then Cap.
Scenario 2. Avengeance:Fall Of Midgard. human like Norman Osborn or Red Skull sneaking into Asgard with Loki’s help to kill Odin and Lady Sif. Events would manipulate the death of Jane Foster. Blaming Asgard and Midgard for not dealing with Loki and his associates for their many schemes, Thor decides to make changes. Thor is broken and the once Mighty son of Odin, turns back to his old ways and becomes a despotic king of Asgard. Thor wages war on Midgard. Years later Thor has taken over the entire world as well as Asgard, and rules it with an iron fist. Villains that don’t agree with him or opposes him are seen as threats are sent to the negative zone. All mutants are forced to register to work for the regime or be depowered permanently and imprisoned. Final boss fight is Odinforce Thor.
Scenario 3. Dark Reign. The Skrull Royal Family, escaping from the Mad Titan Thanos, strikes a deal with Norman Osborne to conquer Earth in a secret invasion. Queen Veranke of the Skrulls kidnaps and poses as the Scarlet Witch to destroy the Avengers from within. In the chaos, Norman betrays the aliens in order to get his hands on their technology. He is able to place his own Dark Avengers as the new Earth's Mightiest Heroes with the aid of Loki's illusions. Loki manipulates Norman to lead a siege of Asgard using advanced Skrull weapons. The Avengers must reunite along with new heroes to topple Osborne and Loki's Dark Reign once and for all. Post-Credits Scene: As Loki's manipulations come crashing down, he pulls a last ditch effort and influences the traumatized Wanda to use her reality-warping powers. He forces her to say the 3 words "No more heroes". Final boss fight. Iron Patriot.

So I’m reading chasing a dream and I know you stopped working on it and all but I’m just wondering who exactly was gonna be in lokis faction?
Well back when I was doing CaD, I didn't fully have the concept for the Overtakers yet. So Maleficent's faction ended up with half of the Overtakers and Loki wound up with the other half.
As I recall, Team Loki was going to consist of future Overtakers Loki, Russell Edgington, Steve Newlin, Hook, Regina, Dr. Doom, Blackheart, Daken, Trakeena, Hans, and Demyx as well as non-Overtakers Sylar, Morgana Pendragon, Mordred, and Rumplestiltskin. Rumple and Hook were kind of in a constant back and forth for who would make the cut based on which one of them I was mad at on a given day when OUAT was still running, but Regina was a constant. Amora the Enchantress probably would have joined them at some point, and I toyed around with Doctor Octopus joining up as well.
There was also going to be the Cabal on the Marvel Earth which would have been led by Norman Osborn and consisted of Loki, Dr. Doom, Blackheart, Kingpin, Namor, and Magneto. Loki and his allies would have been playing and manipulating this faction until the shit would hit the fan with a Siege on Asgard that would be the faction's big final power play of the fic.
And I like the stuff I did with Team Loki, but ultimately there were just one half of a full faction and needed to work with Team Maleficent instead of against them to make the Overtakers as they are today.

Namor, hero or villain?
Namor, the king of atlantis, a hero of world war two, one of humanity’s most dangerous foes, an avenger, a member of the cabal, a saviour of thousands, a murderer of millions. You can say all of these things about Namor and you’d be right about every single one of them.
Namor is a character that has been used as a villain and hero numerous times throughout his very very long existence in marvel comics. He was an x men, an avenger, part of the illuminati (although whether you consider them heroes or not is another matter), a part of the inavders and probably more teams then I can think of. If you look at the list, it paints a pretty good picture of the guy, regardless of what his personality is like. But, wel...
He has often times attacked the surface world with tsunamis, invasions and the like only to be thwarted by the intrepid heroes of the world that more often then not simply let him retreat back to his home. Often times these attacks were caused by misconceptions or decepit, trying to pin the blame on someone else to unleash the sub mariner on your foes, but many other times the cause is simply left unaddressed.
What is this cause? Well, marvel’s decision to intrinsically link every oil spill and exploitative fishing techniques with Namor’s kingdom. The times where Namor has attacked because of human’s desecrating his home or subjects are many, and the sympathy he gets from others tends to vary wildly. While many heroes (like in the most recent run of the avengers) understand his reasoning, they stop him but refuse to acknowledge the root of the problem, that actions such as these are many, and they don’t stop happening.
This, is where people start to question, hero or villain? One could even say that marvel itself doesn’t know the answer to the question, and more often then not the answer depends on what kind of plot device the writers want to turn Namor into. His reasoning, values, loyslties and morality are often tweaked, changed or disregarded completely for the sake of the plot.
So, maybe we should stop and look at Namor, and who this person is. He is atlantean, he is human and he is a mutant, he is a patchwork of different identities that are often at war with one another and that he often has to choose one over the other due to (in my opinion) Atlantis’ absolutely abysmal acceptance of anyone that is different.
Atlantis’ racism and its influence in Namor is very much a part of his character, while his hate for the surface world can be largely explained by all the ugly things he has seen from it, no little part of it is the own culture he was raised in that belittled surface worlders and Namor himself, who often times isn’t considered a ‘real’ atlantean by his own people.
Namor himself, I won’t lie, is a whole can of worms of a character. He is prideful to a deadly degree, arrogant to the detriment of his people and stubborn in a way that can sometimes prove fatal to his kingdom’s future and wellbeing. But, he is also honourable, a man of his word that is sencere, and loyal to those who have earned his trust and friendship (though currently, after inavders (2019) and the whole mess in Avengers, that list is practically empty).
Which, the whole being alone thing is another thing that makes Namor himself, above anything else, Namor is lonely. There is no one out there who is quite like him, though human vein flows in his veins he is not accepted by them and he rejects them as well, his atlantean blood wars with the other in a battle of morality and the perseverity of his people. His mutant status does nothing to breach the gap between himself and other, simply marking another difference that sets him apart.
And to all of this, you must add the fact that he is a king, which is a lonely position in and out of itself. He is a figure to be admired and followed by his subjects, his wives have all been killed and his family is either dead, distant or hates him. His fellow heroes are individualistic people who hold no responsability for the people they protect, they do not have to ensure the following generations will not only survive, but thrive, they do not have to worry about feeding their people, or people doubting their right to rule, or holding the responsibility of thousands of lives under the weight of the crown.
Nobody is like Namor, so nobody can empathise with Namor, pushing him deeper into a well of islotion that has been carved very much by himself and those around him, wether knowingly or not.
Everything I have said is important in answering the question of ‘is Namor a hero or a villain?’ Namor is a complex character who, in recent comics specially, has only been used to create conflict that is superficial and many times out of character. Namor, is not evil, he is pragmatic and cruel sometimes, but nothing he does is done out of an intent to make anyone suffer.
Becuase the crux of the problem is that he cares, Namor loves his people to a dangeroues degree that makes him irrational in the best of days. He is king to a dwindling people who have had their city and homes destroyed almost like clockwork in the last ten years, being left with nothing over and over again while Namor tries to solve the problems, but can’t.
Recently, Namor has been forced to join the avengers to atone for his sin out of She hulk’s advice. He is a king without a crown, and a man with no friends. From what little we’ve been shown he seems to be contemplative, been forced for the first time in very long to reconsider his choices and actions. Although my hopes are low, I hope that the avengers comics can show that Namor can be one of the best heroes out there, he can become something other then a symbol of an enemy under the waves, he can be a symbol of peaceful coexistence between the surface world and Atlantis.
But the avnegers is a big team, whose character focus often times vary wildly and lead to unsatisfying story archs. However, hope is sometimes all we can afford.
So to answer the question, is Namor a hero or a villain?
For now, you can’t say he’s either of those things. But I do believe, that he can become a hero.

Since everyone’s talking about the lineup for the Thunderbolts movie... Here would be my ideal Thunderbolts team. Either for a movie, or even just for a comic I’d dig it greatly... Also trying not to go with uber powerful dudes, save that for The Dark Avengers, Cabal or Masters of Evil.
Baron Zemo... Or Norman Osborn.
Bullseye.
The Hood.
Songbird.
Taskmaster.
Scorpion... Okay, or Mac as Venom.
Agatha Harkness...Or Ghost.
Honorable mentions: Boom-Boom, Namor, Sandman, Elektra, Whirlwind, Spot, Mystique and Sabretooth.
Then if you wanna slap in a hero down in there to keep watch on them, if you wanna go for the villain reformation version, then Wolverine, The Thing or Rogue. I don’t know where the hell people get the idea of Ghost Rider or even The Punisher would be a good idea to add to a team full of supervillains like that. Like... It’d be like putting a shark in a tank full of steaks & seals and expecting it to do tricks and follow you around and obey you to not eat them.
It’s pretty legit and consists of characters that’s mostly already in the MCU/coming to it, we just need Songbird to appear in something down the road aha, those rumors about her being in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Idk, maybe Captain America: NWO, Secret Invasion, The Marvels or Loki Season 2? Or just build her up in that movie, just like Taskmaster, say the government got a hold of the one in Black Widow and used her to train and shit new candidates with a “Taskmaster Program/Initiative” and then they find Anthony Masters.

What's your idea for a Cabal reunion?
Someone(s) are impersonating members of the Cabal so they are rightfully pissed off because the copycat's hack ways are ruining their bad reps in terrible or embrassing ways and they first gather to accuse Loki of making mischief but then figure out its not Loki, who has a solid alibi by being with Amora, and so Doom, Namor, Loki, Emma, Amora all team up to figure out whose messing with them and take them out.
Or
They are trapped need to trust each other enough to break free of their prison or escape the dimension they are in.
Or
They have a luxurious spa day, sipping wine, being pampered, and spend the whole comic one upping each other with tall tales, (comic flashes back between their words/showing the truth if they are lying) of their adventures/schemes which ends with them accusing others of "prove it or it didn't happen" and "are you calling me a liar?!"

Dark X-Men Dossiers: Namor
The Atlantean ruler forges an alliance with Norman Osborn’s Dark X-Men
By Marc Strom
With the release of DARK AVENGERS/UNCANNY X-MEN: UTOPIA #1 on June 24, writer Matt Fraction and legendary X-artist Marc Silvestri begin one of the most eagerly anticipated stories of the summer. As Norman Osborn continues to extend his Dark Reign, he assembles a group of Dark X-Men loyal only to him. This week, Marvel.com presents the Dark X-Men Dossiers, bios on each of the team's members straight from Cyclops' personal files, along with writer Matt Fraction's thoughts and exclusive art from Terry Dodson.
It's All About the Politics As UNCANNY X-MEN writer Matt Fraction recently revealed, the Dark X-Men's leader, Emma Frost, has something of a past with Namor. Now, after their mutual involvement with Norman Osborn's Cabal has brought that history to the surface, fans should expect it to play a major role in the upcoming DARK AVENGERS/UNCANNY X-MEN crossover, "Utopia." "[UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL #2] is super important in terms of grounding and framing what [Emma and Namor's] relationship is," the writer explains. "['Utopia'] is an extension of that. They're both members of the Cabal with Norman, and now they're both on this X-team. It's the critical relationship of the team." Fraction also tells us that, if not for his relationship with Emma, Namor wouldn't have found himself on Osborn's team of X-Men. "Here's a little reveal: Norman has assembled every one [in his X-Men] but Namor," Fraction divulges. "Namor is Emma's pick, and part of the deal for Emma to lead the team is she wants Namor there. So Namor is Emma's insurance." But Emma's request alone didn't factor into Namor's decision to ally himself with her team.
"There is no silver bullet reason [for his joining the group], there's this very complicated web of political intrigue and media one-upsmanship," Fraction enlightens us. "Without revealing where several stories are going, this is the right move for Namor at this time." Given Namor's strong, forceful, and rather arrogant personality, the idea of him getting along with any team seems a little odd. But according to Fraction, Namor doesn't see the Dark X-Men in quite the same terms as most of its other members. "It's very much something that he tolerates, but the politics of the moment are much greater," he elaborates. "What he's doing above the surface and what he's doing below the surface—that's literally a metaphor—it's very complicated. He's not a team player, so this is more of an association, a political alliance if you will. One that's very crucial to this exact moment in time."
Cyclops' Strike File: Namor
The son of an Atlantean emperor's daughter and an American sea captain, Namor first came to the surface world's attention around the start of World War II, during which time he would frequently attack New York City and clash with the original Human Torch. Though he eventually assisted the Allies' war campaign, Namor has only ever acted in the name of Atlantean interests. Prince Namor has only taken action against the surface world for perceived injustices committed against Atlantis. Namor's a ruler first and foremost, and thus does not fall into any traditional categories of the X-Men's typical opponents. Though himself a mutant, Namor feels no particular allegiance with the surface-dwelling community now concentrated in San Francisco, and as such can only be counted on as an ally if the relationship were to benefit Atlantis in some political manner.
Most recently, Namor saw his kingdom destroyed in a massive explosion centered on Nitro in the midst of an attempted coup led by his own son, Kamar. He currently maintains an alliance with Latverian ruler and longtime Fantastic Four foe, Doctor Doom. As part of this partnership, Doom has allowed Namor to base a contingent of Atlantean soldiers in Latveria. While this alliance may appear unsettling, mutantkind itself should have little to fear from Namor unless he finds we have committed some perceived crime against the Atlantean people. With Atlantis in ruins and its people scattered around the world, Namor now must go about rebuilding his kingdom while also restoring its status on the world political stage. Every move Namor currently makes has some political logic behind it, and it is important to remember that he does nothing without reason.

Why did Hyperion end up decapitating Namor? I thought Hyperion was supposed to be a fairly straightforward Superman expy?
There's been multiple Hyperions. Some are "Superman but evil", some are "Superman but more alien", etc, etc. If you're referring to what happened after Hickman's run, I don't remember if that was Hickman's Hyperion, but the justification was Namor had joined with the Cabal to brutally murder multiple Earths to save Earth 616, and that team wanted to punish him for that.
