A lot of people saw Kuguri as an emotionless person. In school, he was a volleyball player who never seemed to enjoy anything despite his talent.

But you knew your best friend better than that.

You knew that his distinct humour always made you feel better after a bad test or some breakup from a relationship that only lasted a month. Already in high school, he brightened your days.

Now, he would come to the café where you worked after a particularly exciting or frustrating day at work to tell you all about it. Perhaps his tone wasn’t that dynamic, but you knew him well enough to distinguish his emotions from each other.

Recently, he joined a local volleyball team that took up some of his evenings, so today he came by to grab a coffee on his way there. While you made the coffee, he leaned on the edge of the counter and told you how nervous he was to get to know new players.

And then as you finished the coffee, you set it down in front of him and gave him a few reassuring words with a boop on the nose. He looked unbothered by it, but you could see the slight tinge of colour on his cheeks. The two of you did the signature handshake you made in high school before he had to be on his way.

He grabbed the cup, nodding his head at you and wishing you goodbye as always. Except, it wasn’t quite like always.

“Bye, I love you!” he said while turning around, already heading out and crossing the road so he could get on a bus.

He sat down in his seat, breathing out and looking at what you wrote on his cup, a ‘go get ‘em tiger’ decorated with lots of stars.

And then the words rang in his head.

“I love you.”

Oh my god, I told her I love her. I wasn’t supposed to do it like that!

He scrambled to get his phone out of his pocket, where it fought to stay so it wouldn’t have to witness him try to smooth over his mistake.

Naoyasu Kuguri: Hogwarts AU

Naoyasu Kuguri is a Pureblood wizard that was born on the 9th of September 1979 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1991, being sorted into Slytherin House.

He is the first Slytherin in his family but, unlike the Shibayama family for example, they do not believe that everyone that is sorted into Slytherin House is automatically evil.

Even though he never actually bullied anyone during his school years, his classmates still avoided him because of his stand-offish attitude which they thought was arrogance but the few friends that he had knew that it wasn't that.

While he wasn't a member of Makarov's Army at first, he did still know about it from his older friend Daishou who later invited him but since the secret organisation was discovered by the ministry during his first meeting, he didn't have time to learn a lot during the meetings.

He eventually participated in the Battle of Hogwarts which he managed to survive despite his weak duelling skills but due to injuries that he sustained during the battle, he was forced to give up his dream about becoming a Hit-Wizard for the Ministry.

While slowly recovering from his injuries, he got to know a Hufflepuff in his year named Shibayama, who was believed to have lost his boyfriend during the war, and they got to know each other and developed a romantic relationship despite Shibayama's parents having prejudiced views against Muggleborns and their friends Daishou and Kuroo having a fierce rivalry with the other which caused them to he against the relationship at first.

Kuguri eventually got married to Shibayama and started working as a Healer for St. Mungos but they never adopted any children but they have still thought about it.

He has a Yew wand with a Dragon Heartstring Core.

His Patronus is a Chinese Kukri Snake.

His favorite subjects are Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions.

His least favorite subjects are History of Magic and Herbology.

Sometimes, when people touched him, Kuguri Naoyasu would puke.

Kuguri's eyes were red and puffy from crying, the tears still wet on his face. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, feeling utterly ridiculous for letting himself get so upset. He knew there were bigger problems in the world, that crying over something like this was a waste of time. And yet, he couldn't help the way he felt. His emotions were a torrent dragging him under, and he felt helpless, lost in a sea of hurt.

Kuguri's skin crawled with unease and he couldn't shake the feeling of being dirty. It was an insidious darkness that consumed him from the inside out, a stain on his soul that no amount of soap and water could ever wash away. The more he tried to ignore it, the more it engulfed him, like a fog that only grew thicker with each passing moment.

The stench of his own self-disgust followed him wherever he went, from the shower to the volleyball court. He felt like a walking, talking ball of rot and decay, an infectious disease that only served to spread his toxicity to others.

Locked behind the door, he felt even more trapped than before. The weight of his own emotions was crushing him, pushing him deeper into a space of darkness and despair. He didn't know how to fix this, how to make it right again. It felt like he was stuck in this moment forever, unable to move forward or backward.

The memory of Inuoka's touch was still raw and painful in Kuguri's mind. The sensation of Inuoka's warm hug on his body, the sudden explosion of emotional turmoil that had followed, all of it had sent him spiraling into a state of distress that he could not escape. In that moment, he had lashed out in a fit of blind rage, slapping Inuoka across the face and fleeing to the safe haven of the cold bathroom.

Kuguri slumped down against the door, the weight of his emotions finally catching up to him. He felt exhausted, like he had been running for miles without stopping. The sound of Inuoka's soft knocking and even softer sniffles wafted through the door, piercing Kuguri's heart like a knife. He couldn't bear the thought of hurting Inuoka, the man he loved more than anything.

Tears stung his eyes and he forced himself to take a deep breath, trying to steady his shaking hands. He knew he had to open the door, had to face Inuoka and apologize for his outburst. Yet, some part of him still struggled to do so, a small voice in his head telling him he didn't deserve Inuoka's forgiveness.

So for now, he would sit in this cold bathroom, waiting for Inuoka to leave.
