Right, let's take it from the top.

Neopets was under the JumpStart brand for, let's say, the better part of the last decade? JumpStart itself is owned by Netdragon. I- Okay, let's skip the corporate summaries. JumpStart, who owned Neopets, went under just last month, not even three weeks ago. So, Neopets was sorta left... Adrift? Publically, at least. Right before JumpStart's plunge, the management, Dominic Law (who apparently had a Shoyru himself back in the day!) bought out the Neopets brand, and now Neopets is an independent company, World of Neopia, Inc..

That's the short of it.

With a management buyout comes a direct injection of funding that Neopets wasn't getting under JumpStart's management, so now the much larger TNT is going to try and revitalize Neopets.com!!! They want to move the older Flash games onto Ruffle, before converting as many games as they can to HTML5! They want to make Neopets mobile-friendly (I hope this mean Lutaris can visit their island again...)! They want to REINTRODUCE NEOHOMES (I have SO MUCH bottled sand!)!!! They want to introduce... A new plot????? After all this time????

Neopets Metaverse is... Going to remain up, but it's not going to be developed for, it seems??? Apparently they're just going to scavenge it for parts???

World of Neopets is going to be the game they're bringing those part to, and it's apparently going to be more along the lines of KeyQuest and Habitarium. It'll be a social life simulator where you live as a Neopet and travel through Neopia, it seems. I'm not expecting full third-person Tron things, but I do want to see how they do. Also:

Neopets is so funny right now. It's a 24-year-old website and half its pages haven't been updated in 15 years. Its ostensible audience is children. The core active audience appears to be nostalgic 20-40-year-olds. Old code means no accounts or pets can ever be renamed. The virtual pound is full of virtual pets named after Justin Bieber. It has an economy and inflation is rampant. New ownership is combating this with the stimulus of random super-rare items via daily quests and events, while the equivalent of Neopian Upper-Crust complain that their investments are deflating. You can't say seaweed or grapes.

Alien aishas are peak neopets humor to me. A race of hyperintelligent alien cats with highly advanced levels of space travel technology who have parked their giant ship out in front of what, to them, must be the equivalent of a trailer park in the middle of nowhere just to install a shitty vending machine in an extremely inaccessible spot while distributing their extremely inconvenient form of currency to the population of said trailer park so they'll use the shitty vending machine that dispenses garbage and inedible alien food 99% of the time except for the 1% of the time it occasionally drops the rarest of rare and most desirable goods (to the residents of the trailer park). The aishas are involved in several space conflicts because of their need to disperse these vending machines all over the galaxy, and they have no desire to do anything except build more vending machines. these space cat-pitalists invented ultralightspeed travel and they do nothing with it except advertise their shitty products.

Made this for the Neopets beauty contest last week! And then it got removed, due to 3D renders not being allowed...?! (I'm still impressed at myself for getting it >75kb, as per the extremely ’90s ruleset.)

ALPHA TESTER DETAILS We will be RE-OPENING Alpha Testing Applications on 6th July 2024 and closing them on 28th July 2024.

In the past few weeks, we've gotten a lot of interest about joining Santae for Alpha Testing. With the leaps and bounds that we have witnessed since Alpha Testing launched on 12th May, we thought that it would be fun to welcome another wave of testers to Santae! This means that adventurers can look forward to another round of the referral contest, a/k/a additional Divine Common Wispyr Figurines (Limited Edition Pet!) will be given away!

We're looking for group of people with assorted timezones, interests, play-styles, and expertise to test out Santae!! So bring your friends by inviting and referring them!

Okay I don't like to assume I have a bigger impact then I do, but let me lay this out for you:

4/5 - Get a comic into the April Fool's issue, this incident happens

4/9 - Make a comic inspired by this incident, submit to the NT

4/17 - Comic rejected for 'Too Many Good Entries' (the default reject letter). Figure they just wanted to try focusing on themed comics for that issue

4/30 - Resubmit this comic for the next NT, thinking it might have better luck for a non-themed issue

5/1 - The Item Prize Pool for the Daily/Weekly Quests updates for the first time since the feature's launch. The Flaming Evil Coconut is included as a Weekly prize.

5/4 - Comic gets rejected again, 'Too Many Good Entries'

I may not have gotten this comic into the Neopian Times (it's not as funny now that it's slightly more affordable so I don't plan to resub), but I think I might have indirectly alerted the team about the price gauging on the Flaming Evil Coconut and that idea makes me laugh.
