"Matt Murdock in a love triangle" is actually a crime and so reductive to his character, they did not have Dex giving Matt fuck-me-eyes as Matt pulled his hair for that

They did not have Foggy haunting the narrative all season long and Matt kissing his card for that

We also did not have Matt attending a family barbeque with Jennifer's family for that

And Elektra is already planned to come back according to the showrunners and we know she'll literally burn NYC to the ground to get to Matt

Please that man is a whore, restricting him to a heteronormative love triangle is removing flavor from him and that cannot happen, writers be serious. We want to see that man have insane tension with everybody and anybody that moves

I love Matt because yes he does fight for justice but he also his a MAJOR crash out, like in the middle of the fight he just yells from the bottom of his soul. He does it for the love of fighting like the scene with the guy from the bank he knew he didn’t have the diamond but still completely shattered his leg.

I like that he is a hero who fights for the good but also does it because he likes to fight, like others do it only to protect people but Matt is like I want to help people and I want to fight so might as well put that urge to good use.

My Kastle Scene Wishlist

I’m not sure what Kastle content we might get in Daredevil Born Again, but there is also talk that they might make a new Punisher show. What are some scenes/parallels that you would like to see between Frank and Karen? Here’s a few of my musings

Reversed Hospital Scene! I would like to see Frank momentarily panic over Karen getting hurt and have a turn holding her hand in a hospital bed. I feel like we deserve this scene so bad. (Caveat: Frank CANNOT be the reason Karen got injured, even if it’s just she got shot in the arm or has a concussion; Karen is in dangerous situations regardless of Frank being near her or not and he needs a wake up call for that). Bonus points for the total opposite of telling her to walk way—this time HE GETS IN THE HOSPITAL BED and puts his arms around her and just holds her and Karen gets to feel completely safe for a few minutes. Just go all out with the hurt/comfort trope for these two. Anyway, I have a whole WIP fic devoted to this, so honestly it has become my top wish to see some parallels drawn with another hospital scene.

Karen gets to help in a fight and shoots someone. I feel like since they never got to have the Wesley conversation, a way to show-not-tell would be for Karen to kill a bad guy and then Frank come check on her to be like, ‘hey are you okay?’and she’d be like, ‘yeah, I am.’ She’d be a bit shaken up but grimly holding it together because it’s not her first time killing someone. This would also work in contrast to the scene where Amy shoots the guy in the hall and then Frank infamously takes the gun from her and takes the responsibility of his death away from her. Sorry to make Karen suffer because I know she’ll feel bad about it, but I’d be okay with seeing her character go a little bit darker to save someone’s life. She’s been carrying that gun since DDs2, she deserves to take out a baddie on her own and it’d be a great segue into rehashing some of her past that Frank NEEDS to know about

Frank meets Paxton Page. Will the show make time for this? Probably not. But damn do I want to know what Frank would say if he knew that Karen’s dad cut off his only daughter, when Frank would do anything—anything—to spend one minute with Lisa again. I’d love to see Frank go to Fagan Corners with Karen to put flowers on her mom and brother’s graves. We spent three seasons of Frank being able to open up around Karen and talk about his family with her. Meanwhile she has never once said anything about the losses she’s suffered. Frank needs to know and I don’t want it all jammed into one big backstory dump where she tells him she killed her brother and Wesley in the same conversation. Another option would be for Frank to accidentally visit Karen on the anniversary of her mom/Kevin’s death and she is having a breakdown. If we can’t get into any of Karen’s past, have Frank find out Karen has his burner phone saved in her contacts listed as Home. I’ve seen that idea in several different fics and it just needs to be canon. They are Home to each other.

A scene where Frank holds Karen all night and they don’t have sex, but it’s profound. (Think like Spike holding Buffy). If they are nervous about comics fans being mad about Frank Castle finding love again, give us some physical intimacy and closeness where you know they mean everything to each other but can’t cross the line and make things real. Fan fic writers will know we won and then fill in the rest for those cowards.

If they’re willing to make Kastle real, give us a goddamn kiss. Actually, just let them have sex, because Karen Page has been forced to stay chaste for YEARS and she deserves to get laid. And Jon Bernthal seems to be more than comfortable doing sex scenes soooo please just make it the most beautiful thing ever filmed because they are so in love with each other. It has to be noticeably different in tone from the scene with Beth. And Karen cannot get shot the next day, don’t even start with any of that bull$hit trauma for Frank.

Kastle pillow talk scene. Since it’s Disney Marvel now, I don’t know how much we can hope for with a sex scene. So the pillow talk scene that follows had better be some life-altering confessions of love and cuddles. Do not even think about him sneaking out before she wakes up like he almost did with Beth. Karen deserves something good to happen to her for once, let her have a perfect night and a gentle, soft morning after. She deserves it even if Frank isn’t sure if he does.

Karen Page and Dinah Madani Friendship. I’m rewatching The Punisher s2 and one thing that pissed me off was the scenes of fake bonding between Dinah and Krista Dumont, drinking wine together and discussing men (Frank and Billy, who else). So. To make up for that, we need some genuine female friendships, like Karen and Dinah going to a shooting range together or gym or going out to a nice bar for girls night. Even if Frank has been keeping his distance, these ladies have struck up a friendship and Karen has someone to hang out with besides her lawyer coworkers.

Karen gets to meet Micro/The Lieberman family AND Curtis. David knows how Frank really feels about Karen. Curtis needs to find out Frank DOES still have something good holding him in this world. And Karen should meet Frank’s friends.

Okay those are some of the scenes I want to see for Frank and Karen! If someone could please get this list to the Punisher writers for the future of the show, it’s actually very important that we get some of this or I’m gonna have to come write for the show myself. 🙈

DAREDEVIL S3 AND DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN S1 EP1&2 RELATED COMMENT

And ofc with spoilers from both seasons. I recently watched S3 before watching Born Again so the comparisons are still fresh in my brain

What the actual fuck.

- Last time we saw our trio, they were so happy about having Nelson Murdock and Page. I thought they would open it with them working on a case, show the dynamic of them working in their new life, in their new chapter.

Just to kill Foggy like he deserved it.

And throw Karen to the other side of the country and never mention her again (I think I've heard her coming in future episodes but it won't be the same without Foggy and her making sure for now she doesn't want to be related to Matt)

- They ended the season showing us how Dex was getting that surgery to get him back on track and alive, and damn he was looking like the next whole season would be about him being THE Bullseye.

Just to again, yet him from a roof, a trial and send him away in the name of justice.

And my worst problem with DDBA:

- Season 3 ended with Agent Nadeem revealing how Fisk played the FBI, how everyone fell for his manipulation, confessing being part of it, giving names, informations, everything. And whatever position each citizen had, they would've seen how this man, known manipulator, got sent to prison, then sent to a luxurious penthouse which ended up with almost if not all of his belongings, got back to his partner, even got married to her, and still pulling strings. Like he didn't commit any crime, any murder, like Hell's Kitchen didn't know that Wilson Fisk was THE man controlling and knowing every little gang and playing it like his little chess game.

Matt also made sure to corner him threatening Vanessa and keeping them apart if he ever dared to cross any line.

Only for Born Again to have Fisk back in town like nothing, everybody forgot how this man played the FBI. How he manipulated the town. How he controlled everyone. He can even run as Mayor, no problem. The guy that has killed so many people with his bare hands, sent to kill many more, blackmailed, used, etc, and everybody knew about it, even the FBI should've intervened when he just gave a thought to run for Mayor. And nobody cared. Sure, let's have this kind of person as the leader of our city! (Waitaminute this sounds very familiar 🍩 🎺)

So far the only thing that made sense to me was Vanessa running his businesses, while he was away, recovering, her being THE Woman in charge, and suddenly Fisk's apparition takes away her credit of her progress because he will always have the higher hand, even if he would trade the whole universe for his wife, everyone respects more Fisk than respect Vanessa.

When she got reunited with Wilson in S3, she said even with him around, she was feeling lonely, and only when he accepted her as part of his world, she started feeling herself and accompanied. With all happening with Fisk being a more known figure when it came to crime, I see why he would always be the face, always busy, always under attack, and her being by his side, working with her ways, yet him being away for days recovering or laying low, would get her back to her loneliness state. That's the only thing that makes sense to me in this whole season, and why they should go to Couples Therapy.

The writing and pacing feels rushed, like they have to already set characters that won't be important, characters that need to be now and here, some kind of Show and Throw Away or Dive Deep in the ones they will focus, set the situations now, instead of cooking them slow and good, like the whole thing with Dex getting corrupted slowly, or finding out Fisk managed to get himself out of prison by using Nadeem's situations and vulnerability, how Matt lost himself and ended up getting back on his feet thanks to his mother and friends. I feel like they're rushing everything to get somewhere.

Idk, I wanna give it some time but I still can't wrap my head around what happened to Foggy, Karen, Dex and the whole "Fisk is considered Good Again" thing

THE REVEAL OF THE TENTH DOCTOR!

Previously, Martha Jones (Doctor Who) became incredibly suspicious of the “Tenth Doctor” (DW) after he told Rose Tyler (DW) to “smile” for the crowd. During this episode of Fresh, 10th accompanied Martha to the ring for her match, claiming that he’s doing this to make her trust him again.

Martha, who was paired against Mary Margaret Blanchard (Once Upon a Time), was able to pick up the win. 10th then jumped into the ring to congratulate Martha, but Martha immediately recoiled when 10th told her to smile for the crowd. When Martha said no, 10th uncharacteristically ordered her to do what he said. Before Martha could do anything -

All of a sudden, the real Tenth Doctor arrived! After running into the ring, he told Martha to stay back…and leave Kilgrave (Jessica Jones) to him! The crowd roared in surprise as “Tenth” dropped the act…

Daredevil-ing, pt2

I talked a lot about what exactly made the Netflix Daredevil series so special to me in my last post. It *was* getting rather long, though, so I decided to break it up into 2 parts. With one more part I call "honorable mentions" on the way. This show, much like Supernatural, will be the death of me.

Besides the meat and potatoes of the show, all in it's awesome execution, there are a few more, smaller details that make it all the more special.

I love paying attention to the musical scores of the things I watch or play. Music and sound, or lack thereof, can have a profound effect on the impact of a thing when used appropriately. Knowing this, I'm always on the lookout for the music, the character motifs, and tracks played during important scenes.

In the same vein, my other comfort items have similarly special soundtracks! When I write, I like to listen to music that matches the mood or setting of the scene, and if there's nothing that's striking the right chord, I often default to World of Warcraft's soundtracks - particularly the early ones, Classic through WotLK, but really, every expansion has had untouchable compositions! There's something for EVERY possible need, from gloomy and mysterious, to big, imposing scores that warn of looming threats.

How To Train Your Dragon also has an exceptional soundtrack; John Powell KNOWS his stuff, how to maintain the overall theme of a whole composition, while individual tracks manage to capture the heart of a scene with sound alone. From fantastical battle music that blends goofy, light children's melodies with moving, emotional swells, to whole pieces that embody the pure, unadulterated sense of curiosity between two mythical creatures...

I cannot emphasize enough how much the music of these two franchises means to me, and how inspiring they've been over the years. It's not often I come across a new piece of media with an OST that measures up to them, but when it happens, it's just awesome! The Skeleton Crew show is one of them, composed by Mick Giacchino, son of Michael Giacchino, a seasoned composer well known for his work with Disney-Pixar -- I like to think the future of Star Wars music is in good hands 🙌

Anyway! Back to the original point,

Music.

John Paesano did a beautiful job, and 2 of the tracks from season 2 live in my head rent-free. Specifically, Dripping Chilis and Raindrops. I implore anyone who reads this, especially those partial to instrumental music or romantic ambiance, to listen to those songs ASAP! Much like many of the tracks in HTTYD, these songs are breathtaking triggers for my imagination. Listening to them is an immersive experience, evoking emotion I can feel in my heart and my mind. Sometimes, I listen to them just to feel a little less lonely out in Anytown, Midwest USA.

Between this post and my first post, I think that's all my major points to talk about...

Daredevil is just a really great production! It has heart and soul, and knows how to balance it's realistic, grimdark action with its humor and humanity! And while sometimes I just can't get behind the stance of a character (Claire from s1, in particular), it just goes to show how good the writing is. People SUCK!! Big time!! But people can also be SO good! It's that struggle to let go of hope and just drift in the darkness, or to cling to that faith in the goodness of others like it's the only thing keeping you afloat... I think Jessica Jones' neighbor friend (I can't recall his name atm) said it best, but unfortunately I can't remember his words, either. Paraphrased, if you give up? The bad guys win. If you lose that conviction, that faith, then you're just proving the faithless right. (I'm using "faith" literally here, not as a reference to religion).

But Daredevil is also SO MUCH more than its conflicts! It's two best friends who care for each other like brothers, who can disagree and discuss their issues and come out (relatively) ok on the other side! They can *talk about their emotions! Their feelings!* And it's never ONCE made fun of or used against them! Matt, for all his unimaginable strength and skills, is allowed to be vulnerable, to be hurt and struggle and it shows! More than once, he's found in his apartment, bundled up in his comfy clothes and wallowing in the misery of whatever the hell's happened now. Sometimes, you just gotta have a good wallow, curled up on your couch or your bed, and let the feelings out.

Daredevil is also the friendships that make them. From two best friends making it work in Hell's Kitchen, to three best friends (after helping one of them defend against the accusation of murder) trying to solve the mysteries plaguing their home, to the police they've allied with along the way and the connections they've made throughout. Nurses and neighbors and bikers and cops and ex-cons... Father Lantom said it best, something about how all our lives are connected in one great weave, each of us a thread that webs out to touch and change others...

I hesitate to say this, but Daredevil feels a LOT like Supernatural. This implies a lot of different things for a lot of people, I'm sure, but I mean this in the best possible way! Both shows know exactly how to take themselves seriously, and when to let the absurdity of some of their situations speak for itself. They both have the same depth to their world and characters.

In a similar way as Supernatural, the Daredevil crew have come to "embody" their characters. Now, I say this with a grain of salt: I am new to this community, and know relatively little about the show's production, the cast and crew, etc... but, I have seen so many articles that illustrate just how much these actors care about the characters they play, and the projects they take part in. The Daredevil series hasn't been around for as long as Supernatural, but Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll and even Jon Bernthal have all grown into their characters in much the same way that J2M did with theirs. As Daredevil: Born Again comes around and more tidbits surface about it's creation, I'm hoping beyond hope that these guys get to have at least SOME say in the use of their television counterparts; they *know* these characters, they deserve to add a bit of creative input, even if only a little.

At the end of the day, I think THIS is what really draws me into a thing. The combination of it's real life production and the quality of the result that follows. Not every show or film gets this lucky! To have a friendly cast with insane chemistry, the longevity to see them master that role, with equally remarkable direction, choreography, writing... knowing that these people, the ones MAKING the thing, are just as passionate about their project as the fans! It really is a heartening feeling.
