as much as i’m saddened by debut not getting a permanent setlist spot i am very excited for the possibilities of a piano surprise song slot... so many songs that are just inherently piano songs (new years day, sweet nothing, hoax) but also so many songs that could be reimagined on piano (all you had to do was stay, afterglow, labyrinth, haunted..........)

#i'd pretty much accepted that new years day would only get another tour moment if it could fit into a mashup #but now i'm confident she'll play it at some point #not to mention all the songs she's previously done piano versions for (holy ground / daylight / out of the woods etc)#talking #taylor swift

#song of the day #more specifically it's the version of One More Time as played by the king of the techno-trolls in Trolls World Tour #I got kaylithographica to watch the two Trolls movies I already have with me so we can watch the new one next time #and find out wtf is going on with all the Trolls angst I'm seeing on my dash #I really do enjoy so much of the music in Trolls World Tour. very fun silly movie. good mashups. love to hear Kelly Clarkson sing country #song of the day easily could've been 'Mi Gente' by J. Balvin which plays for seconds in the middle of the movie but has such a damn hook #or it could've been 'I Fall to Pieces' by Patsy Cline (two lines of which are sung by my favorite character again for only seconds)#but it's One More Time that I'm still humming so here we are #unrelated to music or to Trolls: I've got most of my shit together now so hopefully tomorrow/Monday I'll get back to actually posting #here's hoping

Okay, I cannot keep silent any further, I need to say my piece. Musical Tangents is one of the greatest, if not the best, musical mashup albums I have ever heard. The 10-track listing covers so much in terms of music and general noise sources, and oh my god, it is fantastic. The first third basically revolves more on combining rap songs/beats with various other songs/beats, the next four going into general popular music with some old and new, before the final third just braces into the full memeness of it all and goes head first into really establishing why the album is called Musical Tangents. I’ve heard it describes as ADHD: The Album, and you can either like it all or some of it or even like just one thing, but it is so worth checking out because it is done so smoothly and naturally with surprise appearances out of nowhere done FANTASTICALLY. I’ve had it stuck in my head for so long and I just need to say that I love it.

Intense color/screen flash warnings for watching the full album that has backgrounds:

Track 2 at 2:20-2:25

Track 3 at 4:50-4:52 and 6:06-6:16

Track 6 at 12:31, 12:41, and 13:26

Track 8 at 15:56-15:58, 17:32-17:35, and 17:48

The playlist for the album does not have these backgrounds, but both are different experiences, and I recommend both if you want to seek both out.

I’ve been trying to get more variety in my mashups so here is a mashup of two songs by two different artists that I don’t typically cover but I love their work so much.

Circles by post Malone and July by Noah Cyrus are both incredible songs on their own but thematically they complement each other nicely.
