I feel so very bonded with my cat because not only are we both felines, but I literally raised her as my own kitten🐾

I may be just a dad, but I was all she had by the time I found her at 6 weeks old. No sign of mom or siblings anywhere, just her in the middle of a summer storm in my dad's backyard, huddled under the porch as the floodwaters started to rise. She was the tiniest kitten I had ever seen or held before, I'm pretty sure she was a runt. It was love at first sight, and she's the first ever cat to be fully mine. She's also still pretty tiny despite gaining a primordial pouch after spaying. She'll never not just be my little stormy kitten😸

Cats and cat color genes are slowly becoming a hyperfixation or maybe a special interest of mine, but I'm struggling to find resources to support my interest in the subject and the urge to deeply research is fading fast despite my very deep love and adoration of the subject, it's really sad!

Anyway, if anyone wants to send me asks about cat rescuing or requesting an infodumping about dog breeds, or have any recommendations on where to find more info, PLEASE send me some! My family and I have, over the last two generations, rescued cats about 7 times (of the rescues with memorable stories, it's actually been countless more times than this), and I love discussing the many, many cats I've had in my life. You can request a random cat story, or you can request by name. There's:

Pie Wacket (my grandma's first cat who was the reigning queen of the household)

Scooter (my grandma's second cat who lived with Pie and also was extremely baby)

Jasper (my mom's first cat and my childhood cat who was also my protector as a baby)

Basil (my dad's first cat and my third childhood cat who was a troublemaker)

Ottoman (my grandma's third and final, very large cat from before she decided she's giving up on having pets)

Thinking about the time when my cat, who was in heat (because her spaying appointment was later that month due to my ex kitty co-parent being irresponsible af for two years while my baby lived with her until I could afford to secure a safe place for my baby), got outside because of my neighbor's kids leaving the lobby door propped open as I was taking out the trash, joined a local cat colony for almost a week, and STILL didn't get pregnant by the time she got home because the local cat colony (which I've since gotten adopted) was entirely comprised of abandoned house cats who were already spayed/ neutered... it was a wild, wild week... it's been a year since then, and she's still my wild child, but she's never gotten out since that week! I'm just glad I have a safe space for her now where she feels loved and happy🩶
