Mechanics: Ability Scores and Skills

So while I am not planning on changing anything mechanically here, I figured it would be best to explain some of the differences as well as explain some of the original core mechanics as 3.5e is a much different system than 5e.

The ability scores will not change common 6, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.

The scores will commonly range from 0-20, but can go higher. The ability modifiers from the scores will commonly range from -5 to +5, but can go higher. A formula for determining this number would be (x-10)/2 with x being your ability score.

Simple recap and a note for new players, your ability score determines your ability modifier, but you only add your ability modifier to rolls.

Now, stemming from 5e and moving to a more 3.5e rule, there will be certain creatures (not playable, mind you) that do not have an ability score, which is known as a nonability. Their modifier would be a 0.

Skills will also be kept the same as 3.5e skills. I debated removing or adding skills, but to be honest, I think these are fine mostly the way they are. The only skills I would personally have an issue with would be Open Lock or Use Rope, but who knows, maybe your campaign will give the cats opposable thumbs!

3.5e does NOT have a proficiency bonus like 5e. Instead, they use skill ranks. A skill rank can range from 0 (untrained) to +23. However, the maximum skill rank WILL depend on your class!

Class skill maximums would be x+3 with x being your character level. other skills would be that number divided by 2.

There are other rules involved like skill synergy, but that is going to be worked on at a later date
